"In the basement of the same building as Golden HOF, the same folks are launching NY Kimchi (a revamp of chef Sam Yoo’s parents’ restaurant). It’ll be a Korean raw bar and steakhouse, doing Oysters Rockefeller with kimchi-sesame butter, a Seoul seafood tower with perilla leaf mignonette, and hanger steak basted with brown doenjang butter." - will hartman, bryan kim

"Two long-awaited projects from the Golden Diner team are finally live in Midtown. Golden HOF is an updated take on a Korean pub (see below), and NY Kimchi is a subterranean steakhouse where the caesar arrives dressed in ssamjang. Think Gallaghers plus Cho Dang Gol, with a touch of Cote. If you want to get KBBQ here, great. There are plenty of tables with grills on top, and the galbi comes drenched in a nice, sweet marinade. Just keep in mind, the Korean-inspired crudo, textbook kimchi jjigae, and kimchi martinis are the real headliners." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, bryan kim, bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, sonal shah, bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, w

"From the team behind Golden Diner and Golden HOF (located upstairs), NY Kimchi is a Korean-inspired steakhouse. If that sounds like Cote or one of its K-Town peers, you’re not entirely wrong—but at this subterranean Midtown spot, the limited KBBQ selection is less of an attraction and more a perk. What you really come for are the Korean dishes reimagined through the lens of Smith & Wollensky. A vodka martini with kimchi brine is as chuggable as it is probiotic, and a garlicky caesar gets a makeover with the addition of ssamjang. Bring a group, try the salmon crudo in a mustard vinaigrette, and don’t feel bad if you skip the galbi for a vat of kimchi jjigae. photo credit: Alex Lau photo credit: Alex Lau photo credit: Alex Lau" - Bryan Kim

If you’re a tourist who wants to eat an all-you-can-eat BBQ near Times Square, this might be it, otherwise, not worth your money especially if you live in the city. Meat was gummy, soup tasted nothing and cost you almost $40 for lunch including tip. Never again.

Was my first time trying Kimchi. It was a surprisingly wonderful experience. Although the kimchi itself is an acquired taste, i loved their spicy chicken fried rice Update: went back after 2 years. Food quality still great! Customer service is much better than before. Their seating space downstairs is gorgeous. Will definitely keep going back.

Really delicious food and friendly service. The six kinds of kimchee were all amazing, and we left feeling healthy. Favorite surprise: the glass noodles are made with sweet potato starch!

The service in this place is the best I ever encountered! We came today for a late lunch with our 5-month-old son that started crying once we ordered food. A very nice lady told us to relax and eat our lunch while she babysit. Another lady helped us to carry our stroller down the stairs. I am still amazed by the care that they provided. The food is also very tasty and portions are generous. Many side dishes include kimchi, pickles, and radishes. Everything tasted exactly as we tried on our trip to Seoul.

We stumbled on this lace because it was right next to Rockefeller Center and we didn’t want to go to Korean town for Korean food. The staff was very friendly compared to what people typically said about New Yorkers. We had a sit down dinner but was too tired to do the grill cooking so we asked if they could just cook it for us. Come to find out the grill is there for them to cook FOR you. So...we lucked out. 😁 Oh yes, the environment was very comfortable. A/C was running. You actually go underground for the restaurant. Not sure what the top floor is for. Probably when they are busy.

Nice place. Plenty of seating downstairs, pleasant waitress, and overall decent service with a smile (except they mixed up bubble tea flavors, didn't have tonic water for gin, and forgot one of our orders). The seafood pancake was delicious. A bit overpriced as some of the menu items were underwhelming.

Good Korean food, they used quite a lot of the Korean chilli paste in their cooking. The side dishes could need some improvement especially those lighter side dishes.

Restaurant is not really busy. They have a huge dining place downstairs. Food is ok and just expensive for the taste. Won’t recommend. I would just go to an all eat you can at K town! I’m annoyed we spent so much i this place.
