Hip butcher shop displaying meats in a modern setting with a cafe for bistro fare, beer & wine.
"Clove and Hoof is an Oakland butcher shop that doubles as our go-to sandwich shop. They make everything from cheesesteaks to burgers to pulled pork sandwiches. But our favorite is the fried chicken sandwich with a fish sauce caramel. They change up what goes on the sandwich from time to time (right now, you can get it with green curry mayo, pickled pineapple, and mixed herb and jalapeño), but the chicken always stays the same—savory, sticky, and tender." - julia chen 1, lani conway
"Clove and Hoof is a restaurant, but it also doubles as a butcher shop, meaning that every meaty item is processed in-house. There’s only one burger, but the C&H Cheeseburger is tough to beat. It’s two four-ounce beef patties with caramelized onion jam, pimento cheese, romaine lettuce, bread and butter pickles, and pickle mayo on a sesame seed brioche bun. Add beef tallow fries, and it’s game on." - Dianne de Guzman, Luke Tsai
"OAKLAND — East Bay Nosh also caught the news that Clove & Hoof added on a second location in downtown Oakland." - Lauren Saria
"This restaurant and butcher’s shop sources from local ranches to serve the best cuts around. As one would expect, there’s lots of meat on their prepared food menu, and a burger is a popular choice. But the fried chicken sandwich is a hot take, covered in caramelized fish sauce, with fresh pineapple, herb salad, and green curry mayo." - Dianne de Guzman, Becky Duffett, Luke Tsai
"At this butcher shop and restaurant, slabs of raw, marbled beef, pork, lamb, and charcuterie are presented behind shiny glass cases like they're 50-year-old bottles of single malt scotch - in other words, this counter-service place takes their meat seriously. The burger comes with two thick patties, the fried chicken is glazed with a caramelized fish sauce, the cheesesteaks are extra cheesy - and everything is big (like, Pacific Ocean big). So get your nap bed ready. Nothing productive ever happens after lunch or dinner here." - Lani Conway
