"Cocha can’t really be defined, and that’s how owners Saskia Spanhoff and Enrique Pinerua like it — always keeping things fresh, showcasing different cuisines, and generally aiming to offer something new every time diners come in. The chic downtown hotspot combines influences for a menu of dishes that might include Spanish grilled octopus; Venezuelan corn cakes; Caribbean braised jackfruit; vindaloo curry; and Indonesian stir fry; a dizzying array of food that somehow makes sense." - Clair Lorell

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands-down the best ribeye we’ve ever had! Cocha absolutely blew us away. My husband and I stopped in for dinner and ordered the ribeye steaks with leek purée, mushrooms, and asparagus—and let me tell you, we’re still talking about it! Perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. That leek purée deserves its own fan club. We got the yellowfin tuna & rice as an app and it was spicy and delicious! The service was just as incredible as the food. Jess was our server and she was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and super knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. She made the entire experience even better. We sat out front, which was such a cozy and relaxing spot. The vibe was peaceful and inviting, and since we were staying within walking distance, we got to enjoy a lovely stroll to and from the restaurant. The cocktails? Also a 10/10. Cocha is the whole package: food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. If you’re in Baton Rouge, this place is a must. Five stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Google
One of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge hands down. Not only is their food and atmosphere great, their employees are fantastic like the owners. I had my rehearsal dinner there in the back room and all my family loved it. The food was amazing along with the friendly and laid back atmosphere. They made it so easy to reserve for my party size and the service was amazing!

Google
Gorgeous space, interesting menu choices, stellar service. We went for brunch on a Saturday around 11:30 and there was no wait, only maybe three other tables were sat. I got a Thai julep that was bright and refreshing, my partner got some sour beer on draft that he liked. I got the Japanese patatas bravas, everything about the dish was incredible but the brisket was waaaay overcooked. It was dry like jerky, which was disappointing. The potatoes and egg and kewpie mayo more than made up for that, though. My partner got the pork belly sliders and THOSE were absolute perfection. Phenomenal bite. We would definitely go back for dinner or a weekday lunch.

Google
Really loved the food here – the vegetarian options were insanely good. Anne Louise was our server and she was super sweet. You’ve gotta try the jackfruit dish and the lasagna – delicious. The presentation was on point too!

Google
Stopped in for dinner....didn't know it was wine tasting event night but they found us a table in the back. Dinner was excellent but it was a bit pricey (to be fair, I ordered a rib-eye steak - an off-menu offering). Cocktails are also a bit spendy but, to be fair, were very well done. Shout out to Bert for putting up with us out-of-towners!

Google
I had the beef dish on the brunch menu. The beef was OVERCOOKED!!!couldn’t eat it; the egg and potato was perfect. My waiter Christian was SUPERB!! My cocktail was also top tier!

Google
Staff could not have been more pleasant. Wine menu was extensive with solid selections. Our mains were well made with fresh ingredients, unique flavors, and the menu took great care to provide top-notch options for vegans and gluten intolerant folks. While I’m not vegan, the chocolate vegan ice cream was incredibly decadent and delicious. The website pictures made me think seating was communal; it is not. We wish we could move this gem to our town.

Google
Wonderful dinner. Started with an excellent Old Fashioned from the bar. We skipped the shareable plates this time & just went with our dinner entrees: the Grilled Spanish Octopus was perfectly done - tender & tasty with the chili vinaigrette & the fresh fish cooked with a macadamia crust was outstanding. Service was quick all the way through the evening. Highly recommend this restaurant - this wasn't our first visit & we will return soon.

Yelp
Fabulous in every regard. The wine was incredible, service attentive, food delicious, atmosphere great for business or romance. My dinner companion was from India and we'd ordered the curry with chicken, and it definitely had his authenticity approval! So impressive that the chef can excel in such a wide variety of cuisines. Very healthy options and too many great choices to choose from! Will definitely be coming back to try more.

Yelp
We returned to Cocha after having a lovely Easter brunch a couple of months previously, and glad we did. Every dish was delicious again, and the craft cocktails were superb. Service is terrific, and it's such a lovely and relaxing space. I suspect we will be back again soon!

Petrina M.

Yelp
I had lunch at Cocha this week and it was a nice experience. My server Jess was really great. She was really sweet and put together an iced matcha for me when it wasn't on the menu. The food was healthy and filling. I would recommend trying the vegan vindaloo. It had a nice flavor and was very light. The salads were also fresh as well. The fruits & roots mocktail was refreshing. It was made with beets, lemon, ginger, and honey.

Nina J.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed the food at this establishment. I had the vegan Carolina BBQ sandwich, with smashed fingerling potatoes, all of which were very good. Upon arrival, our waiter seemed to be less than thrilled that we were there, which was quite disappointing. Maybe he was having a bad day, but it sure put a damper on the experience. I'd been wanting to try this place for a while, but this tainted it a bit for me. The place is cute and quaint, which I liked. Overall, the food was very good. I always try to give people grace, so I'll give it another go. Hopefully, it'll be a better overall experience next time and I can up my review to 5 stars.

Jessica P.

Yelp
Love love love going to this restaurant every time! Service is a 10/10. Ambiance is a 10/10. Food always eats! I love how the menu changes and the options never disappoint. Drinks were good and strong as well.

Mandisa N.

Yelp
Cocha was one of the last places I could find with large party availability on graduation night. I made a reservation for 8 through Open Table and just so you know, you have to put in a credit card to hold your table - cancelling last minute = $25 per person. Thank god it didn't come to that. We got there a little early and the staff was so welcoming and let us sit at the bar till our table was ready. The few drinks we had were good. I had 3 more friends join last minute and they were more than accommodating. Thank you to the staff! The menu is pretty random but I would say the food is tasty. It is much more experimental for Baton Rouge, so if you're picky, you might not enjoy yourself. I personally love trying new things and I'm a fan of duck, so I enjoyed my entree of the duck breast. The bok choy was crispy and I enjoyed that textural change. My table shared a few desserts. The tres leches?! Yum! They also had sorbet which was yummy and greatly appreciated by my lactose intolerant friends. I overall enjoyed my experience and think it's a special gem in Baton Rouge in terms of finer dining.

Alex E.

Yelp
Great dining experience! The food was top notch! We had a table of 6. We had filet, duck, veal, curry, pork belly, and Indonesian noodles. Every single one of us raves about our food. The service was impressive and the cocktails were awesome! Highly recommend!

Kaytlin F.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a coworker. He had the criollo, which he enjoyed, but we both agreed that the Indonesian stir fry noodles with chicken was amazing! It was a huge portion too. Service was a bit slow, but our waiter was super apologetic and sweet.

Tori C.

Yelp
Cocha's food was a nice Saturday treat! I had the brisket sandwich with goat cheese and arugula which was nice. My mom had the chicken and waffles which she said was super good. We sat outside which might've been a mistake because it was hot, I do wish they would've turned on the fans I noticed fit outside customers. All in all I'd come back, because the food was great!

Benjamin M.

Yelp
This place has the best soup and most courteous services. The building is cozy and the experience is memorable. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the dessert options are delicious

Kelly C.

Yelp
Had a birthday lunch here a few months ago and everything was great! They have nice outdoor seating and the service was super attentive. We had the duck and the salmon and both were delicious! Finished off with some chocolatey desserts- the ice cream was the better of the two, but I'd love to try the panna cotta again in a different flavor. It seems like they rotate menu items every now and then, so I'll definitely be back to try other things!

Juliette S.

Yelp
The food was fresh, well seasoned and delicious; our waitress Coco was friendly, courteous, engaging and very attentive; she gave thoughtful recommendations for our selections. Thanks Coco!

Kyli W.

Yelp
I was here two years ago and my experience fell very flat. Tonight was a much different story - tonight's dinner was amazing!! I'm not sure what they changed or if it's the fact that they have more regular waitstaff and not a lot of turnover, but it was an extremely different experience. The appraiser was great and the salad was a nice pallet cleanser. The catch of the day was halibut, and it was prepared very nicely. I got a coconut cream, chocolate mousse type dessert, which was excellent. Highly recommend.

Emily N.

Yelp
Had an early dinner here while in town for a conference. The food was really flavorful and the drinks were tasty. There was nothing we tried that we didn't like. I'd definitely go back.

Randy R.

Yelp
Loved the decor and the ambience in this restaurant!!! Some might feel like they are all over the place with their cuisine, I prefer to look at it as global cuisine. Where else could you get a taste of Venezuela in the middle of Louisiana??! The food is exquisite! I applaud the owners/chefs for being true to who they are. Service was exceptional! We entered as guests and we left feeling like family! Can't wait to go back to Baton Rouge!!!

Justin M.

Yelp
Quality service and food. Love how many vegan options they have. Drinks were fantastic plus beautiful weather to sit outside. The Marcela drink is delicious and the best pimms cup was accurately named. Plated presentation was decent too. Had elk and octopus. Octopus was just ok, but was tender. Elk had nice pairings and cooked right. The cachapo or whatever it's called was great. The Arancine was decent. Would go again and like how they have electrical charging next to parking lot.

Traechel M.

Yelp
I tried this restaurant for the first time with my fellow foodie and friend! It's has a cute and cozy feel. We had reservations for 7:15; and thank goodness for reservations because when for a Thursday night there was quite a crowd!! We were seated in a little nook near the kitchen for more privacy. There is also additional seating outdoors, but Louisiana is way too unpredictable right now. Our waiter was over really quickly and definitely made our experience amazing! We started with a bottle of Rose and a charcuterie board! The board was sooooo good! Particularly, the pickled carrots, onion, and jalapeños. The cheeses were great selections as well! The Gorgonzola cheese was so smooth and mild! After the amazing cheese board, we ordered two entrees to share! The Indonesian noodles with added shrimp and the Shrimp and Scallops. These dishes did that a little while to come out, but the waiter checked in with us frequently to check in and pour our wine. Our food was good, but for me the Indonesian noodles were the star! This dish definitely had a Pad Thai flavor and the shrimp were huge and cooked to perfection! Finally for dessert the waiter suggested the Mexican Spice Cake, which was melt in your mouth good! Like really good! Overall, the service and food were exceptional!

Lori C.

Yelp
Menu is somewhat limited, but everything is so incredibly fresh. I got the salmon appetizer that comes with fried tomatoes, which was not a big portion, but the flavors were so fresh and delicious. Also got the Cocha salad, which was also very fresh.

Andrea Foliaco F.

Yelp
Amazing service and the owners are great!!! Food was delicious I ordered the octopus and the tres leches for dessert. Will be coming back!!

Dean N.

Yelp
If you like FRESH food and great service, go here! The lighting is low and the noise level is moderate. I went on a Saturday at 6pm and by 7 or so it was packed

Marigny L.

Yelp
Decided to come to Cocha for a celebration lunch, and the experience was alright. The menu Cocha has online on their website & on YELP does not match the menu they have currently in the restaurant (at least not for lunch). I was a bit disappointed when I arrived and the menu didn't have the Lobster Sliders. Additionally, when we asked our waiter what the Soup of the Day was, he said "it's not done yet, sorry." Our reservation was for 12:00pm on a Friday so that was a bit odd. He never ended up telling us what the soup was. I ordered the Beet & Burrata salad which was delicious, but for a salad to be $18 with no protein and not even an entire bulb of burrata, I don't think it was worth the price. Also, it took my party over an hour to receive our food, even though 3/5 of us ordered salads. It would've been better if Cocha had appetizers, but there are none on the menu so we were starving when our food finally arrived around 1:15pm. Overall, the food was amazing--compliments to the chef!! I just personally would not come here again for a celebration since my expectations were a bit let down and things seemed to be a bit disorganized.

Taylor H.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Cocktail Sunset in Bali is delicious. Picture is of the veggie lasagna and it was INCREDIBLE. Everything tasted so fresh; cooked so well, 10/10 cannot wait to come back.

Laurie S.

Yelp
We had reservations for brunch. We were immediately greeted by a friendly owner?? and waitress. Our table was ready and waiting for us. The cocktail special was a blend of peach, rosemary and lemon flavors. It was refreshing and delicious. I had the Eggs Benedict. It was perfectly poached eggs on Fried green tomatoes base, topped with prosciutto and lump crab, Jalapeño hollandaise and arugula. DELICIOUS!!! One of the best I've ever had. Others in our party had the Honey Miso Salmon and the Bananas Foster Waffles. Both were outstanding as well. The service was top notched. The ambience was good. Soft music playing, nice art. The chairs are wooden and a little hard. We were able to park in the adjacent lot which was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and already had plans to come back. So good.

Haylee H.

Yelp
We have been meaning to try Cocha and now regret not going sooner! We tried the Cachapa, Indonesian Stir Fried Noodles, Fresh Catch, and Tres Leches. Our server recommended several of the dishes as well as the Lieu Dit Sauvignon Blanc which paired perfectly. Caleb was very knowledgeable about the food and drink menus, attentive, and provided top tier wine service. His service took our experience at Cocha from great to amazing! We will be back soon.

Sinnamon S.

Yelp
I tried the MONTE CROQUE MADAME today and it did not disappoint. I typically get the Indonesian noodles but wanted to try something different. I need to try something different more often.

Chad B.

Yelp
Restaurant review haiku ... Great bar and cocktails Order the secret ribeye Amazing service

Allen L.

Yelp
There are not many dining options downtown so you are at the mercy of the restaurant. It is expensive but the quality of the ingredients was very good. The food was slow. No kids menu. Seems like they need to hire one or two more servers. It's good that the manager or owner stepped up to cover as well as the other servers were helping.

Alexis O.

Yelp
This was my second visit to cocha and first for brunch. The second time around was quite a bit better than the first. My hanger steak was seasoned to perfection but it was served on the cooler side of room temperature. It is personal preference that my food is quite hot. I did also have their soup of the day which was a white bean, sort of reminded me of a chili, it was absolutely delicious. It had a nice kick to it! As far as my espresso martini it was one of the best I've had in town, it had such a strong and fresh coffee taste that I appreciated.

Navin A.

Yelp
Food is okay. Ambiance is lovely and a nice spot for a business dinner or lunch. We had a great fellow serving our table. But, I am a little disappointed with the food. Our drinks were great though. If I am going back, it will be for the drinks.

Carmen G.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. The food is awesome, service was excellent!! Cocha restaurant is one of the best restaurants in Baton Rouge

Russell A.

Yelp
This place deserves 100 stars. Food is incredible. Atmosphere is superb weight staff is awesome beyond measure. Thank you for a great experience.

Sara W.

Yelp
Do you want to take a trip to Bordeaux, FR with hybrid hospitality of South America and the southern U.S., this is your place. Diversity of flavors paired with distinct culinary skill and a wine list that will transport you, make sure you hold on for the ride. Situated behind their namesake mural on the corner of Sixth and Main, Cocha immediately feels inviting. The bar area was my first dinner experience and Jacki was super friendly with great food and beverage recommendations. The Venezuelan corncakes with pulled pork have every ingredient needed and nothing that they don't- the sign of perfection. It's absolutely a 6/5 star dish. At my lunch here, had the vindaloo curry. They could absolutely double the price for this, as it's enough to feed two (especially if you add chicken). All the earthy spices are spot-on, heat of ginger, and the veggie-forward approach is modern and fresh. Second night here (if it ain't broke, don't fix it), had the catch of the day, was craving spice and Coco and kitchen provided all the accoutrements to give a little heat to a superb dish. It seems they make a couple in-house spicy salsas that I loved! Coco was really helpful with all recommendations, especially wine! Finally but not least, get the chocolate gelato, topped with liquor. If you want a really unique taste/texture, stir upon receiving and give a few minutes to sit. All of a sudden your dessert becomes an ice-cold mousse. Superb! Furthermore, I will always give my business to a restaurant who is GF-friendly over the ignorant, non-inclusive places that don't and put wheat flour in everything for the sake of convenience. So extra thanks for that! Ambiance is sophisticated and cozy, elegant and rustic. How does one restaurant do all these things? I don't know, just know I look forward to coming back!

Alex D.

Yelp
I. Want. To. Eat. Here. Daily. Awesome allergen friendly menu, lovely waitstaff and the food was beyond delicious. Cute spot with a fabulous vibe!

Angie C.

Yelp
Wow! This was awesome! Had the Cachapa with Jackfruit and it was fantastic. I was looking for a Vegan place on my drive though town and this was a great choice.

Monique' M.

Yelp
Surprise! I went back again, and this time I dined-in. I ordered the Cachapa (vegan style) and the Cocha Salad (sans pine nuts). Both dishes were good. They actually added guac to my Cachapa, so what more could I ask for?! The salad had the perfect amount of dressing as I prefer my salads wet. I give both dishes a solid B+. The service was very friendly and attentive as well.

Tara R.

Yelp
Went to Cocha yesterday for brunch, and I have mixed feelings on how it was. Let me start by saying what I had was delicious. My friend and I split the tuna sliders and the beet salad. The beet salad is overpriced for what you get. Lettuce, fennel, a slice of avocado, beets, a bit of burrata, and dressing. Surprisingly the beet salad was more expensive than the tuna sliders, which just blows my mind. The tuna sliders were heavenly, they had the right mix of salt, acid, and a quick sear so they did not overcook. I was disappointed that they're taking the lobster sliders off the menu. If the tuna sliders are the permanent replacement, I won't be sad for long. In any return brunch visit, I will pass on the Cocha Constellation (a cocktail that's a bit too heavy on the arugula and lacked the pear it promised) and opt for two of the Tea Thyme cocktails.

Sara R.

Yelp
Unique offerings! You can research the menu pictures all you want but it does change which I love and shows how talented this place is. We ordered the Chachapa and the Octopus both outstanding. The cocktails are phenomenal. These bartenders are so talented they can make anything and it will taste amazing.

Jon D.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Farm to table and very creative dishes. Really like sitting by the kitchen so I can see the food being prepared and talk with the owners. Def worth it!

Kristen L.

Yelp
Service was a little spotty at first but everything was great otherwise. I got the Lavender Fields Forever as my cocktail and...oh my gosh. It was definitely in the top 3 cocktails I've ever had in my life. I let some of my family try my drink and they loved it so much they ended up abandoning their cocktails and ordering mine as their second drink. It was amazingly balanced and refreshing. I got the fresh catch as my entree and thought it would be more of a curry but still enjoyed it. I do wish the broth was a little more flavorful but that's my only critique, the fish itself was cooked perfectly. We really loved our seating as well. It was really cool to see the final touches being put on the plates before they went out for service. Like a lot of places in Baton Rouge, you can dress up or down to come here. Some people were wearing t shirts and jeans but others were wearing more dressy clothes. Really impressed with the vegan/vegetarian options here as well.

Luke W.

Yelp
Wow! I must say I was very impressed with this restaurant. We went for a Mezcal tasting, they have various events offered to try new products. We loved the tasting and decided to stay for dinner. We enjoyed several appetizers during the mezcal tasting, which were very tasty. For dinner I had the octopus, which was incredibly delicious. I thought it was great they offer some rather atypical foods, such as octopus. The wine I had with my dinner was fantastic and the waiter was very helpful and friendly with pairing a wine with my food choice. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and I highly recommend it to anyone searching for something exciting and different.

Trish R.

Yelp
This one is worth going out of your way! The cuisine exquisite, and vegetarians will find plenty of high quality and creative options from which to choose. The staff really enhances the experience. The host spoke so highly of this establishment we asked if he was owner! (He wasn't.) Our server Ronni was an absolute delight. She was subtle, non intrusive and on top of every need. Add to that the ultra charming atmosphere of their outdoor patio and it was a heavenly experience. Absolutely peaceful and relaxing. This dining occasion made us push "reset" for our impression of Louisiana. They are superb ambassadors.

Kaitlyn L.

Yelp
I enjoyed Cocha! I had been wanting to go here for awhile now and I finally tried it out! The one thing that was the most disappointing was that the menu on their social medias and website were incorrect. I was pretty excited to try some specific menu items, but when I sat down the menu was a bit different. I was really looking forward to getting lobster sliders but instead saw the tuna sliders on the menu instead. I got them and thought they were really good! I also was kind of confused as to why there were no appetizers on the menu. The party I was with would've liked to have gotten some since our food took over an hour to come out. We also asked about the soup of the day but they said it wasn't ready? That was also pretty disappointing since it was mid afternoon so we did not know why the soup wasn't done yet? Even though their menu was different than expected, it was nice to see that they could accommodate any food allergy or diet restriction. This is probably the only place in BR I have seen do this. They have GF, DF, V, and VEG options!

Lewis R.

Yelp
Cocha very friendly and very everything.food taste great! The elk dish was impressive. Variety of food choices. Wine list affordable and from around the world. No chateau Margaux but has a good representation.

Timothy M.

Yelp
Great service and atmosphere. Drinks and wine selection are quite good. Unfortunately, the food lacks the flavor we crave, and are accustomed to, in south Louisiana.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
We had a reservation for 7pm, and when we got there, we had to wait for a table. Not a terribly big deal. However, when we ordered the scallops, the scallops were ice cold. My wife ate a bite and asked me to try it. I ate some and said, yeah, that's ice cold. The server said, well take care of the scallops for you. Then the manager came by and said, "obviously we'll take care of the scallops, would you like a complementary dessert?" We didn't really want one, but they offered so sure. When the bill came, they did not take the scallops off the bill. When we asked about it, the server said the manager said we are a scallop, so we need to be charged. I said, what did y'all do with the other 75% of the dish, if you lied to us and we are paying for it, we should at least be able to take it home. But no, they threw it away. So they lied to us about it. Straight up lied. That just means we will never be back. I suggest anywhere else.

Matthew R.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant in downtown Baton Rouge. Their wine and cocktail selection is vast. I highly recommend if you order the scallops, you add the extra scallop. Don't hesitate and grab that extra little scallop.

Joellen S.

Yelp
I can here twice on a Recent business trip. It was amazing. The first time I had the curry which was vegan and absolutely luscious. Full of flavor, nicely presented, and the perfect amount of food, it melded flavors of India and Thailand together. Rich but not cloying. I could taste individual elements if the dish. The owner? Chef? Came out and checked on us and asked us for feedback. My colleagues also loved their options which were fish and some sort of beef. The drinks were interesting and has a zip to them (the spicy ones) The next day I came back on my own for a quick lunch before leaving. I had the polenta (or maybe corn cake?! which was kind of like an English muffin with jackfruit and I scarfed it down quick. Both days I had the chocolate ice cream that was vegan for dessert. I almost ordered two but didn't want to be too greedy. The service was attentive both times and the server even accommodated next being on a phone call for like 15 minutes. This was a highlight both in flavorful food and service of my business trips this year. Thanks so much and I'll be back!!

Josh C.

Yelp
The food and service were great. However, I did order bourbon on the rocks and they charged me $15 for Buffalo Trace and $3 for "the rocks" which is pretty lame...
