We had the extreme pleasure of visiting Cocina de Autor last night for dinner. I cannot recommend it enough. Javier was our server and he was attentive and knowledgeable.
Each dish on the tasting menu was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in my life. And I’ve traveled the world and eaten at other Michelin star restaurants in this was my very favorite based on taste.
It was very expensive, so I have some recommendations on how to make it more affordable.
First, arrive on time and skip drinks at the bar. It’s a beautiful bar, but the drinks were not the same caliber as the food.
We did one wine pairing, but the pours were small and not really enough to effectively share or to drink with the in-between courses, which did not have a pairing. And sadly, it was more expensive than ordering a single glass of each of the five wines paired with the dishes, which would’ve been a full pour. The wines were perfectly paired with the , and I highly recommend the paired wines, but next time I would order a full glass of each one and skip the “pairing“. Plus, there weren’t pairings for each course, which was a little disappointing and would’ve been nice to have more wine to drink with the courses in between.
The dishes were incredible, and I would absolutely go back next trip. But, for men with a hardier appetite, know that you will probably leave hungry. The portions are extremely small. My husband had to eat when we got home. It was enough for me as a Female.
