Japan’s Most Famous Curry Shop Sets Summer Opening - Eater San Diego

"Eager Eater readers have been asking for updates on the arrival of CoCo Ichibanya in San Diego. Japan’s most beloved curry chain, operating more than 1,400 locations worldwide, was due to land next month in Kearny Mesa in the Convoy Street center that also houses Hive and Chinese eatery Kangxi Is Coming. The company tells us that the opening has now been delayed until mid-summer. Established in 1978 in Japan, the brand expanded to the U.S. in 2011; the San Diego outpost is the first outside of the Los Angeles area. CoCo Ichibanya specializes in kare raisu, or curry rice, offering diners fully customizable plates based on different portion sizes of rice, curry sauce spice level, and toppings that range from chicken cutlet and sausages to fried squid and vegetable croquettes." - Candice Woo

Japan’s Largest Curry Rice Chain Coming to Convoy - Eater San Diego

"With over 1,400 locations worldwide, Japanese chain CoCo Ichibanya has amassed fans all over the globe. The local fanbase is rejoicing this morning, as it appears that the curry rice specialists are heading to San Diego. A tipster pointed us to a Facebook post that seems to indicate that a location will be coming to Kearny Mesa in Spring 2020 where it will land in the same Convoy Street complex as HIVE. A rep for the brand told Eater that it should open in March. Known for its customizable menu, CoCo Ichibanya allows diners to choose a base curry dish, from stewed beef to chicken or pork cutlets, and select their desired degree of spiciness as well as portion size of rice. There are tons of optional toppings, including cheese, natto, pork sausages, garlic shrimp, and fried squid. Other items include fried chicken and egg salad, omelet rice, spicy keema cheese French fries, and cooling mango lassi." - Candice Woo

Been here so many times, and I like coming here. I like the choices of the curry, the mix and match, and the spice level. Decent large size serving for quite the price of the food. Honestly, I think the inside is a little too crowded the way the tables are set up but I don’t mind. I come here for the Japanese curry. Friendly staff and good service. They get super busy at times and line starts forming outside. Parking gets very difficult since it’s also located in a busy commercial area. But will definitely recommend.

Visiting Coco’s always feels like I just teleported back to Japan! The staff is always so friendly and the service is fast! We had the chicken and pork cutlet dishes and a side of French fries. Pro tip, the curry makes the perfect dipping sauce for the fries!

As a long-time fan of Japanese curry, I was thrilled to finally visit a Curry House CoCo Ichibanya – my first time at this particular chain, though I'm no stranger to the style, having frequented a beloved (and now sadly closed) Curry House in Westwood pre-pandemic. I was so happy to find the menus quite similar, with all my old favorites present and accounted for! We started with the Garlic Cheese Naan, which was absolutely delicious fresh and hot, though it did lose a bit of its magic as it cooled – so definitely enjoy it quickly! It was also my boyfriend's very first foray into Japanese curry, and I'm happy to report he absolutely loved it. He opted for the spicy teriyaki fried chicken, while I indulged in my classic chicken cutlet. Both dishes were just as rich and flavorful as I remembered, hitting all the right notes of comforting deliciousness. My only minor disappointment was that they were out of iced coffee, which would have been a perfect complement. Nevertheless, the overall experience was fantastic, and I'm already planning my next visit to have my old favorite, the keema curry! I'll definitely be back when I'm in San Diego.

My boyfriend and I, along with our three friends, have been regulars for a while. We used to come in the mornings, but recently switched to dinner after noticing the chicken is often chewier early in the day—our theory is the oil isn’t fully heated right after opening. In the evenings, everything's cooked perfectly, and the vibe is just as inviting. Here’s a quick rundown of our latest dinner picks: * Chicken Curry with Spinach and Mushrooms – 4.8/5
The chicken was mostly tender, though one slice was a bit chewy. The spinach was fresh and flavorful, and the mushrooms were perfectly soft. * Chicken Curry with Vegetable Croquettes (2) – 4/5
Absolute standout! The croquettes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside—delicious and satisfying. * Garlic Naan – 4/5
We love the flavor, but it arrived a bit too early and got cold before the rest of our food came. If it had been timed better, this easily would’ve been a 5. * Chicken Curry with Thin-Sliced Beef – 4.5/5
Surprisingly juicy! The thin beef slices held their own and added a rich, savory layer to the curry.

Google
A friend recommended this place to me, and I'm so glad they did! I really appreciate the variety on the menu, offering plenty of different options to mix and match. The curry was delicious with the option to customize the spiciness to your taste. The server was attentive, taking note of my special requests and fulfilling them perfectly. I'll definitely be coming back. Parking is ample during off-peak hours but can be challenging during meal times.

Google
Coco Curry House is one of those hit-or-miss spots. Unfortunately, consistency just isn't their strong suit. I always order the same exact dish, yet somehow it tastes different every time sometimes the spice level is spot on, other times it's either barely spicy or way too intense. This would make sense if I was switching up the spice level with each visit, but I'm not, I always order the same. Another issue is the add-ons. I typically ask for cheese, get charged for it, but half the time it's missing from the order entirely. And good luck trying to place a phone order. Even when the place is empty, they won't answer. Today was a perfect example, I called several times, no answer. I show up in person and there's only two couples dining. Definitely not slammed, so I'm not sure if ignoring phone orders is a new policy or just poor service. I really want to love this place because the food can be good... when it's right. But the inconsistency and lack of reliability make it hard to count on.

Google
We’ve driven to LA and the Irvine spot a few times just to get our Coco Ichibana fix. So we are extremely happy our favorite curry chain from Japan made it to San Diego! Their menu isn’t as extensive as Japan’s, but there’s still quite a selection to pick from. Service is quick. There’s even a button on the table (like in Japan) to call for a waiter if you need something. The food is tasty and both curries have top notch flavor. We usually get a chicken katsu cutlet, on rice, with their standard curry, and a couple sides of the garlic naan. Each of us adds different extra toppings, including: omelette, cheese, sausage, garlic chips, and veggies. Sometimes we order garlic fries or krema cheese fries. Both are delicious. They have a heat scale from mild to 20 if you’re feeling extra spicy, kids meals, ice cream, to go orders, a parking lot right in front, and they get people in and out quickly.

Google
Chicken Cutlass with Curry at its finest! This place always has consistently good food that warms the soul and puts a smile on your face! Highly recommend to all spicy food lovers, challenge yourself and get a heat level higher than 6!!

Yelp
First time here and my bf recommended this since he's had it in Shanghai and swears by it! Service: 9/10 -- pretty attentive all around! Food: 10/10 -- curry protein and omelet was amazing! Veggie croquettes were very good! Regular spice was just enough, they have many spice levels! I wish they would come to Washington!

Yelp
Came here after a whole day at SDCC. We were all starving. It was busy inside. Almost all tables were taken. Checked in on the iPad. Said 18 mins and was spot on. Got the text right on time. We ordered: -Keema curry. -XL Chicken cutlet with cheese with extra chicken. -XL Pork cutlet with veggie croquette and thin sliced beef. -XL Veggie croquette with minced beef cutlet. -Seafood with udon noodles and chicken cutlet. -Veggie croquette with chicken cutlet. Everything was delicious and came out fairly quickly with how busy it was inside. We normally go to the Torrance location at home and love it. Equally loved it here. Everyone was happy. Would recommend.

Yelp
I finally visited Coco Ichibanya in San Diego, and I'm wondering why I waited so long! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the vegetable, okra, and tofu omelet curry, and it was perfect--full of flavor and so satisfying. I would definitely order it again without hesitation. If you're in the area and love curry, I highly recommend giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed! Yelp ya later!

Yelp
This spot offers great value, with most curries priced between $13-18. I went for the build-your-own curry, where you can customize the rice, spice level, and ingredients. My friend chose the pork cutlet vegetable curry, which came with crispy pork, potatoes, and peppers. I didn't expect much since it's a chain, but I was pleasantly surprised! The curry was flavorful and the portions were generous--neither of us could finish our rice. My friend, who doesn't like strong spices, found the flavor just right--not as overpowering as Indian curry. Overall, it's tasty and worth a try, especially for the price!

Yelp
The best curry in San Diego. The spice level goes up to 20 and it's perfect!!! Very comparable to Japan's coco curry. Has a hint of sweetness to it, very different from home made box Japanese curry. Parking is a pain but go early for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Omg, Coco Ichibanya is so good! I've had it in Hawaii, but I didn't remember it being this amazing! I ordered the Keema Curry with stewed beef, and it was delicious. The Keema is like a garlic, tomato, and ginger Indian-style curry with ground beef and stewed chewy beef, and it reminded me of American chili. I really liked it, especially since I got the level 20 spice. However, I dislike the fact that we have to pay extra to spice up the dish (thumbs down). Also, level 20 tasted more like level 8. You'll start to feel the heat halfway through eating. We also ordered the cheesy naan, which was perfect for dipping in the curry. I really enjoyed the chicken cutlet omelette curry as well. It's such a nice, warm, and comforting meal...simple yet delicious. I definitely like this place and would come back on a cold day for some curry and rice.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Japanese curry. My partner told me that this place was really good and that it got really busy the later on you went in the day. We arrived shortly after they opened and they were already filling up. By the time we left, there were people waiting to be seated because the restaurant was full. I can tell you that it's definitely worth a try. The food was very flavorful and the katsu was crispy, but juicy at the same time. We added a boiled egg to our order and my partner added an order of sausages as well. We also ordered a nan bread with cheese, which added to the wonderful flavors. The service was excellent with the waiters walking around making sure that everyone was enjoying their food. The place itself looks nice and clean. The people eating definitely add to the fun and energetic atmosphere of the restaurant.

Yelp
My favorite type of curry is Japanese. I loved coco Ichibanya everytime I went in Japan so had to come here. I ordered the basic chicken katsu curry and also curry fries to try. The chicken katsu was a little underwhelming. It was pretty bland and nothing what I remembered. The fries on the other hand were interesting and definitely would hit the spot sometimes. Would come back if I wanted the fries.

Yelp
Coco Ichibanya is one of the best Japanese curry spots in San Diego. The restaurant was not too busy and we only had to wait about 10 minutes before we got seated. The ambiance is really nice. There is a lot of room in the restaurant. I liked how they provided pickled veggies on the table for us to add to our liking. I personally always add a lot of this stuff to my curry so it was great trying some. I had the pork cutlet which came with white rice and lots of curry. There is an option to reduce your rice for a lower cost which is a great concept that I think more restaurants should add. I always opt in for additional rice so this is not something that I did Overall, I recommend going to this place greatly. I will certainly stop by again in the future

Yelp
Solid place for curry and one of my go to places! Clean and modern inside and service is fast. I always get the chicken cutlet curry with less rice, mild spice and add on vegetables. It's good every time! The restaurant and parking always are busy so make sure to come earlier.

Yelp
My favorite is the meatball curry level 10! The watermelon juice is fire when it's nice and iced

Yelp
Lived in Japan for 7 years and this place was our version of fast food - in the sense that it is ready in about ten minutes in and the price point- you can eat for under $15. Seriously, can you even do that at McDonalds!? However, cost and convenience is where the similarities end. The food is hearty and comforting and flavorful. I had a Chicken Cutlet Cury with omelet. If you are hesitant or don't like curry usually- Japanese curry is different than Thai or Indian- it is more like a spiced gravy. I get Spice Level One and 300 grams of rice (which is probably a good place to start). This is hands down my favorite place to eat - I would eat here every week if I lived in San Diego.
google avatar

Yelp
My first time here. My first time trying curry or pork katsu. I ordered the omelet combo that came with egg, curry and pork katsu. On the side I ordered some fries and some naan bread. I didn't know how spicy I wanted it, I do like spicy food so I choose about a level 7. I think for your first time, start off at the lower levels and work your way up. I was sweating but still very much loving my food. I loved the Thai tea that came in the big mug. We came hungry and left more than satisfied. The service was great. The staff was able to sit all eight of us relatively quick. The food came out quick and even with the lunch hour rush the waitress was bale to help us out.

Yelp
So glad MY FAVORITE JAPANESE CURRY spot is in San Diego! Waited 40min on Friday night at 7PM (heads up: parking sucks). Fast service, ordered & received our food in less than 20min! Garlic nan: MUST. Soft & garlicky, great to dip with your curry! Only $3 and good to share (we got 2 for 4 ppl). Chicken Cutlet Omelette: Crispy & juicy (-1 STAR bc the CUTLER IS SMALLER than the Irvine and Torrance location. INCONSISTENT SIZES between mine & my friend's.) Level 3 wasn't spicy, I would get a 4 or 6 next time! Overall, not the best location but still my favorite chain! Would recommend!

Yelp
My fiance and I came here for our Wednesdate. We absolutely LOVE this place. It's our go-to date night spot. We always have good eats here. The food comes out fast and the service is always amazing. 10/10 every visit.

Yelp
I had an alright experience at CoCo Ichibanya. When I had first arrived to the restaurant, there was a wait. I did not at all mind waiting though because they had allowed us to put down our phone number so that we would receive a text when our table was ready. When we got a table, I ended up ordering the pork cutlet, which just came with rice, pork, and curry. The flavor of the curry was delicious! I was, however, disappointed as the curry did not come with any vegetables or additional ingredients. It felt a bit plain because it was different from what I am used to. The pork cutlet was alright. The breading was quite crunchy, which I enjoyed. However, the meat was a bit fatty and tough. The portion size for the meat also seemed a bit small, as you can likely tell in the photo. I did enjoy my meal, but I would like to hope that there are better restaurants to eat curry in San Diego. I am not sure that I would return.

Yelp
We stumbled upon CoCo Ichibanya on Convoy, specializing in curry cuisine. The staff were nice and the interior was clean. It was a bit busy when we visited in early March. We only had to wait about 15 minutes before we got seated. We liked the tables and seats made out of maple wood, almost like those Japanese-style chabudai tables but taller. I had the pork cutlet which came with white rice, lots of curry sauce and some creamers. The food was tasty. We will certainly stop by again in the future.

Yelp
We both ordered the omelette curry, which was really just scrambled egg over the football shaped rice, to add protein to the meal (plus I love scrambled eggs.) The chicken cutlet was also juicy and crispy and the beef was tender (we shared the two dishes). The brown curry was fine, as your traditional Japanese curry, but could have used more flavor even though it had a good taste. (I do not like that you get charged for more spice, even though I generally do mild anyway.) The service was fast. They took our orders and our food came at a timely fashion; they also kept our cups filled with water and checked on us as we ate. How would this be rated a 5? I wish the curry had MORE meat on the plate. I also think that the curry could have some vegetables in there (or the meal could be served with a side of vegetables). Kudos for having variety including Indian. The parking lot (on a Tuesday at 1pm) had a decent number of spaces available.
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
My friend took me to get Coco's. It's been on my list for some time but I feel like Japanese curry is really basic. I got the chicken katsu omelette curry, level 4. Wasn't spicy at all for me at least, not even a kick. But as stated, it was pretty basic and didn't really live up to the hype. Overall, decent meal and decent customer service
google avatar

Eva G.

Yelp
First time trying this place. My daughter and her friends like dining at this restaurant. She told me about the Chicken Curry and I wanted to try it out! Ordered it to go. The only thing they don't put in it is the egg ( if you dine in they do) but that was no problem cause we cooked an egg to add. lol It was delicious, the curry is really flavorful. I look forward to trying out other menu options.
google avatar

Yelp
I haven't had coco in sooooo long and I remember the thing I liked most were the pickled radish. I guess I haven't changed much and neither has coco ichibanya cause the pickled radish is what made me like my food this time around too. Don't get me wrong, I love that I can customize my own plate and select how spicy I want the curry. The chicken cutlet was also juicy and crispy. The omelette was alright. I got level 6 spicy but I could've probably done 8. The curry itself was very flavorful. The service was good. They took our orders and our food came at a timely fashion; they also kept our cups filled with water and checked on us as we ate. The ambiance of this location was well lit and open. The parking lot was kind of packed tho, shared lot with other businesses - I know parking is usually just a nightmare in convoy but I lucked out and found a spot right away. Would I recommend this spot? Sure, it's pretty solid and I think consistent in quality. I'd probably try their vegetable curry and garlic naan next time.
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
I wanted to see what the hype was about for this curry place and was pleasantly surprised. They had an extensive menu and seated us at the counter immediately. I tried the spicy chicken curry with vegetables, and it compared to some of the curries that I had in Tokyo. The spice level of 10 was spicy and enjoyable for me. The portions are big and tasty!
google avatar

Satranina L.

Yelp
Since my first review, I have been back many times. Everything I get is good. The omelet curry is probably my new favorite but I'm still partial to the veggie and chicken cutlet curry. The naans are also amazing, the garlic is my favorite.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Grew up eating this on Oahu. Food is consistent and affordable. Recommend dining in versus takeout. Lines can get long during peak hours.
google avatar

Charan R.

Yelp
Food is amazing, tried various dishes from menu and everything is great. Service is fast and shorter wait times
google avatar

Tavelle A.

Yelp
BRAVOOOO BRAVOO!!! Look go and find out for yourself, but when you focus on one dish it better be well executed! And man they knocked this out of the park! Ok a few tips get the Omelet anything! If you have never had rice and eggs before you have to try it at least once to get the revelation that these two are best friends! And there's no better place to do it first than here. Also don't be afraid of the pickled veggies setting at the table, these little veggies soaked and who knows what secret marinade! Are a perfect pair with your dish, and don't be stingy go crazy with them and put them all over.! Lastly NAAN!!! How Sway! Naan at a Japanese Curry place!!!!! Yes Naan! And it NaanBelievably Good!! We Love CoCo Ichibanya !!!!!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
I be teeterin between 3 and 4. I coulda sworn Yelp allowd floating point nums now in 2024 but whatevea. yea this place gon get a 3. it was ight. I got the chicken curry. I mean it was coo‍. I would contend that the dish lacked depth and, while I typically appreciate a traditional rustic meal, this one proved to be rather underwhelming. basically I'm sayin iz mid ash
google avatar

Judy O.

Yelp
First and foremost the portion was huge! Not bad for the price either roughly $16 Second, I got the chicken cutlet curry at at level 7 (for spice lovers it wasn't spicy) and the thin scrambled egg next to it on the huge bed of rice was a great touch, the curry gravy is everything you would want in a Japanese curry flavorful, hearty and tastes like a warm hug. It took me while to finish this large behemoth of a dish.. what tripped me out was the cutlet continued to stay crunchy throughout the whole meal, even doused in its own curry bath.. extra plus! The meat to curry to rice ratio is perfection, and there's also a container of something pickled on the side provided on the table you for a mini palate cleanser if the tastebuds need a little something something.. A star docked because while we were seated there were 2 other groups of people who were sat after us but their orders were taken first? I had to continuously flag the wait staff over to take our order, then another few more times for the check and water was a-little frustrating granted it wasn't that busy? Food came out promptly so it was all good.. despite that would definitely consider coming here again though.. Japanese curry has that chokehold on me might try the sausage and add on some potatoes and mushroom next time for sure

Yelp
If you were stationed overseas, you most likely hit up a CoCo Ichibanya. I'm surprised there are none in New York City but when I saw a location in San Diego, I knew my first night would be getting busy with some Chicken covered in gravy. Pulling up to the location, I see a line outside. I walk up and ask where does the line start? I was told to put my name on the wait list. I walk inside and tell the host I am dining solo, is there a table for one? He directed me to an iPad with the Yelp waitlist app. I put my name in the system along with my cell number and in 3 seconds I hear, Bill S! I was escorted to the long table bar for single diners. I'm reading the menu over, watermelon drink is a must along with the chicken cutlet. I don't need the mind numbing spice level, I chose number two spice. My waitress says is there anything else? I said, is this enough food? I was told by the guy sitting next to me as well as the waitress to get the garlic-cheesy Nan. Now I like Nan, I'm thinking there is a funky cheese sprinkled on the top? No! Picture Nan. Its hot and warms your belly. CoCo Ichibanya covers the Nan with cheddar cheese. Yuckk.. I had to scrape off the cheese, it was "weird" like having a burger with peanut butter. Forget all that nonsense. My chicken comes to me. Crunchy. Gravy to the side. Look at my picture! Heaven. It was a nice portion, I left happy. CoCo Ichibanya? Sayōnaraba
google avatar

Yelp
My go to order is the chicken cutlet curry, regular spice and less rice, and J add vegetables. It's always been good every time I come! Always make sure to come early tho bc parking and the long queue can be difficult
google avatar

Jackie T.

Yelp
First time here and loved it. The parking lot is super small and the restaurant was pretty small as well. Worth the wait because the wait to get seated and for the food to come out isn't long at all. I got the Vegetable & Chicken Cutlet which was super tasty. I got the Nan on the side so I can dip my curry in it. I like how you are able to customize your meal by how much rice you want, how spicy you want it and if you want to add sides to your meal. The service was awesome, very nice and attentive. Can't wait to come back and try something different on the menu.
google avatar

A M.

Yelp
Staff is rude and seems unable to answer simple questions (can I use the bathroom, can I leave while on waitlist, etc). Food is solid, in line with other locations here and in Japan. The queuing system is poorly managed and the parking lot is...poorly designed. Restrooms dirty, uncommon for Japanese restaurants in the area so very surprised.

Yelp
I never was a fan of CoCo Ichibanya. I've always thought the curry was watery and not that flavorful. But it's been years since I've had so I thought I would give it another try. To start off, service was kind of slow. We were seated and no one came to check on us, to see if we were ready to order. Other tables that had sat down at the same time or after us had already received their food and we haven't even ordered yet. And even when I would press the call button, no one would come. Just for the check, I had to press the button 3 times (at least 5 minutes apart from each other) before someone came to us. I ordered the Pork Culet Omelet. For some reason, these aren't available for to-go, which I don't understand. It was literally just a layer of eggs on the rice, nothing special?? The rice is set at 200g and the ratio between rice and curry was so off...I could've done with less rice. The food was just warm, closer to room temperature, as if it had been sitting out for awhile. The pork was crispy but kind of dry. The curry was just how I remembered it to be, watery and not flavorful. Now, I don't get it spicy and some people might say that's why it's not flavorful. But the curry should just be good at a base level, with the spiciness enhancing it. For the price, it's a lot of food but mostly because of the rice, which doesn't add to the value. The pork cutlet doesn't come with a lot of pieces. There are other places in San Diego that have better Japanese curry with a much shorter wait.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing flavor and portion! Came here on a Wednesday lunchtime hour and it was not too busy. The service was fast and helpful and the food came out right away. I ordered the Vegetable Omelette Curry Rice and my friend ordered the Pork Cutlet Omelette Curry Rice. The Vegetables Omelette Rice had potatoes, onions, carrots, and green beans with an omelette on top of the rice. The curry had a umami flavor and wasn't too salty. I would totally come back again! I just wish they had a different container for To Go because our spilled everywhere when we tried to take it home.

Yelp
Really tasty curry, and at a very reasonable price! Service was lacking a little bit. Parking is not the best, but l will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is way overhyped. My hubby and I have always wanted to come but never made it until today, Sunday 1/7/24. We got there right before opening at 11am bc we assumed the lines would always be crazy. We ordered the Chicken Cutlet Omelet curry (Regular spice) pictured & the vegetable curry with a side of fish filet (not pictured). Taste: chicken cutlet is so dry, way overcooked, would not recommend. Omelet was thin and fluffy! Curry was more on watery side consistency. REGULAR spice is not spicy, maybe you'll taste a little tiny hint of kick eventually but not really. Prob need at least Level 1 to taste something if you're looking for a kick. My hubs' plate had some veggies + 4 pieces of fish filet. I liked how his plate came out piping hot but mine was at mild temp. I feel like they should bring out hotter plates, curry needs to be enjoyed hot. He also ordered Regular spice so we couldn't make a comparison. Fish filet was good but nothing super impressive. Overall, we both concluded that we like curry at Hinotez way more. The only reason I'd be back is bc they offer more customization (lots of different variations of meat/veggie) & spice level.

Yelp
First time here and already a fan. I like that you can choose your rice portion, how spicy and add sides to your plate. The restaurant was clean and the staff was awesome. Very friendly & accommodating. Cant wait to come back and try something else from the menu.

Yelp
I've never really had curry outside of my home but my friends took me a few years back and I fell so in love with it. I think back then the curry was spicier which I really liked because when I go nowadays and I get the spicy level 10 it's not as spicy. That is a little disappointing but I can understand why they would lower it. Besides that I love coming here whenever I'm in the area. The service is always super friendly and quick so even when there's a wait to dine in, the wait goes by fast. The portion size is great too just the right amount of rice, curry, and pork which is good for me because I like having the right ratio of everything in my bite haha

Yelp
TL; DR (+) Cutlet is delicious! (-) Terrible service (-) Curry is salty (-) Inconsistent portion sizes My friend and I got the chicken cutlet curry togo. When we both opened it back at home, my cutlet was half the size of hers! They claim that they "measure" each piece of chicken before serving but it's obvious that they don't. Even though the chicken was tiny, it still tasted great. The curry however, was extremely salty and I could barely swallow it. I contacted their customer service asking for a refund and they said they couldn't. I am so disappointed and will not be returning.

Yelp
Curry is not my first choice of food but it was good after a long night out and the weather was chilly. I wish I knew about the yelp wait list to reduce wait times while driving there. Oh well, next time. It was about 45 mins for a party of 5 on a Sunday night. The menu is massive. I got the Garlic naan, garlic fries and Pork cutlet omelet with mushrooms. The garlic naan and fries were not good. 3/5 at best. The naan had too much butter and was just dough like. Not fluffy like other naan's I've had. The fries were dry and not garlic like. Curry was really good. I got regular with regular rice. Rice portions are larger on regular curry and not the omelet. My dish was delicious but I wish whomever put together my dish didn't pour curry all over my pork cutlet. It was soggy. I did love the mushrooms in my dish! I would come back again in the future when i am craving curry.

Yelp
I had heard nothing but good things about this spot, so I decided to go try it, it was pretty packed, we got on the waitlist and after about 35 mins we were sat, servers did a good job explaining the menu, I ordered a thai tea and A regular curry with omelette and chicken cutlet, It was really good and worth the drive and the wait for us, also H mart is right next to it so if you don't want to wait you could shop around and then come back once you get your table, would definitely recommend, actually i'm going back there tonight for my birthday dinner!!

Yelp
We love cocos, loved it ever since living in Japan. But they have skimped on the meat and now they're skimping on the curry! Literally didn't even fill up the container halfway in the to go box. Do better Cocos!

Yelp
I highly recommend dining in at Coco's instead of ordering takeout. My experiences with takeout from this location have been consistently disappointing. On my recent visit with friends, we placed an order, and all three of our meals were mishandled. My curry, which I always request at spice level 8, arrived tasting completely bland. To make matters worse, the portion was shockingly small--barely enough to fill the tip of my spoon. My friends faced similar issues: one received a completely different dish, while the other's meal was missing key components. When we called to address these issues, the staff assured us that all three orders would be compensated. However, when my friends drove down to the restaurant to sort it out, they were only compensated for two of the orders, leaving us frustrated and feeling overlooked. As a huge fan of Coco's, I expected a better experience, especially compared to the locations in Los Angeles and Irvine, which consistently deliver great food and service. Unfortunately, this location just doesn't measure up.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Japanese curry and I loved it! The chicken katsu was perfect and the curry was so flavorful. The chicken katsu was breaded and fried properly. The portions were good too. The rice to curry portion was perfect. The service was really fast, we got our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering.

Yelp
Almost as good as I remember it in Tokyo! The wait was about 35 minutes for a Sunday evening. Once we got in, the service was quick. I love that they have a call button at each seat so when you're ready to order or ready for the bill, the staff is right there to help.

Yelp
Nice spot for some Japanese curry in Convoy area, with a clean and modern interior. There's a load of curry and udon options on the menu, and they come out super quick! I loved the keema omelet curry and added spicy teriyaki chicken for protein!

Yelp
Food is amazing. Worth going out of the way for. The curry and chicken is delicious. A little pita rounds it off for a great and satisfying meal
