The 25 Best Restaurants in Albuquerque, New Mexico | Eater

"Vietnamese restaurants abound in Albuquerque’s International District, but the banh mi at Coda Bakery is a requisite for fans of Vietnam’s stuffed sandwich. At lunchtime, you’re sure to find people lined up in the narrow space, waiting to order jambon, headcheese, and pork belly on a fresh-baked Vietnamese baguette. Know before you go: It’s worth ordering a few Vietnamese baguettes to go before you leave." - Justin De La Rosa

Coda Bakery - Review - International District - Albuquerque - The Infatuation

"The casual, no-fuss Vietnamese bakery and sandwich spot in the International District serves incredible bánh mì that are the length of an entire forearm. They come with homemade rolls, and proteins like beef, chicken, or some of the most luscious slabs of homemade fried tofu ever. Order one at the counter—and at least two or three baguettes and a sesame roll to-go like everyone else." - Lani Conway

The new location is substantially larger, well lit, and has ample safe parking! Their food continues to be of excellent quality, fresh daily and if you have the taste buds for it simply delicious. I cannot recommend this business enough for a quick bite in the new store or best yet a great take-home meal.

Google
Outstanding! We went at lunchtime and they were rocking busy…however the line moved very quickly. The crew was very efficient. We live 3 1/2hrs away and sought them out after seeing them on DDD. Glad we did, and we will certainly return.

Google
Driving through town I decided to try this place. Happy I did. I tried the house made Tofu Bahn Mi sandwich, a Shrimp and Pork Roll with Peanut sauce and a Sesame Ball. I also bought a CheDau Trang (a rice dessert with a coconut sauce topping) and a Thai Tea out of the fridge. Everything was delicious. Did not disappoint. If you are in the area this is a must try.

Google
This was the best banh mi I have had. Fantastic flavor and the bread is super fresh. I got the pork and it was terrific. Highly recommended.

Came here for the first time today for lunch. I got the #86. It was SO good! Lots of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Very fair price for the amount of food you get. My friends got sandwiches and they looked really good. It was quite noisy and busy, obviously a very popular spot to eat. I think next time I'll try one of the sandwiches or the tofu.

Google
Coda Bakery never fails to satisfy. I’ve always enjoyed any food or drink item I’ve ever had here. I regularly get banh mi, their pastries stuffed w/ Vietnamese meatballs, their tofu, spring rolls, smoothies, and the raisin buns. They are so speedy, efficient, and everything is delicious. They even sell baguettes to take on the road. Highly recommended!

Google
Best restaurant in the city. Price to quality ratio is oit of this world. Banh mi, noodle bowl, avacado smoothie, Vietnamese coffee. Under $35. I feel like I'm in Vegas when i visit here, but the quality of the banh mi is far higher than I've ever run across in vegas. This is motherland, Houston quality.

Google
This is a not so secret jewel of ABQ. Freshly made sandwiches, rice noodle bowls, and rice plates topped with flavor filled proteins. Highly suggest the sausage made with pork and shrimp and their in-house made tofu, and do not forget to pick up a sesame ball for a great dessert option. If you want to treat yourself above that then pick up their house made fish sauce that goes well with any protein, rice dish, and/or makes a fantastic salad dressing. Come in and get Bahn Mi the way it should be made and taste.

Yelp
The restaurant is very nice and modern, the menu is great, I had ordered the #61, and the portion sizes are a big size! Got our food right away and didn't have to wait for a table. Will definitely be coming back again!

Yelp
Okay, I have to say this is the second time I've been here and unless something changes, this is a definite go to spot whenever I'm in ABQ! We had the rolled noodles, grilled pork sandwich, fried tofu, spring roll, and a chicken turnover type thing, and my all time favorite, the banh cam! My apologies but I was so excited to be here the second time I didn't take pics of all the food or the menu! I just wanted to EAT! Admittedly having my cute 1 yo grandson eating with us was also a major distraction. Okay back to the food! Loved the rolled noodles that come with fixings and spheres of meat. Had to ask my pals back in the Bay Area where I can get this dish so stay tuned for Bay Area and LA recs. Coda makes it great and I love the explosion of flavors and textures. Soft noodles filled with bits or pork and mushrooms contrasting with the cucumbers, cilantro, bean sprouts, fried garlic and spheres of meat. The sandwich is a foot long and way better than what you'd get at the famous "foot long" place. The bread is fresh, the veggies crisp and the meat perfectly grilled. The chicken turnover tasted like a buttery pot pie. Gson loved the buttery flakey shell. Mmmmm what's not to love about that? The fried tofu is made in house and it tastes nice and fresh. Make sure you eat it while it's warm and dip it on the soy sauce. The bahn cam is what I came for (and the noodles). It a great crunchy exterior with a creamy coconut filling. Sadly on this second visit the inside was not as good as the first time but the shell still had a satisfying crisp crunch. I'm coming back for sure! The place is a bit cramped to eat in and I see a lot of orders to go. There are a few tables outside if you can stand the heat!
google avatar

Zoey G.

Yelp
I had been craving bahn mi and this place definitely filled the spot. Hubby got the chicken and I the pork. Both awesome but I'm definitely going back for the chicken. We also grabbed a sesame ball to try and it was surprisingly good. I also ordered an avocado smoothie that was so delicious I thought I was going for round two but had to stop myself. Ambiance was neutral... enough seating but I can see it get packed quickly. I was told this location is sooo much better than the last place they were at by another costumer. You do order at the counter and wait for your number to be called. Overall, worth trying! The food awesome! Ambiance and service good.

Yelp
OMG what an amazing spot for lunch!!! No surprise this place is SUPER POPULAR. We ordered ahead online and skipped the lines. Brought the food with us to meet my daughter at work. This place has AMAZING Vietnamese sandwiches! Tried both the meatball and combo sandwiches and both were delicious. For only $12 you get a HUGE sandwich. Might be the best deal in town. We also ordered a couple fried tofu sticks ($1.20 each) and they were really good too! Wished we had ordered the raisin buns/rolls as they also looked really good. They also have Vietnamese coffee and an avocado smoothie! So many things to try....will have to come back!

Yelp
Great experience at Coda Bakery. I was looking forward to this place when I saw it on Triple D. I really love the fried tofu and the sauce that would go with it. A great experience and the banh mi was great too. A must if you're in the ABQ area!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is delicious! The decor is well thought out. It works well. Outside doesn't seem like much and when you go inside, you're transformed into a modern world. The kid taking orders at the counter is hustling. He's only 17 and he is doing an amazing job taking orders. The food does take a while to come out. So plan for that extra time.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Finally made it to Coda for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The interior is modern and clean with simple furniture, and I like how the cooler and takeaway treats are at the front of the queue. Everything is orderly, the menu is easy to read, and service is friendly. For my drink, I asked if the Thai tea could be made less sweet. It cannot be altered, but it was delicious. Next time, I'd like to try the soursop smoothie, and I'm curious if that can be made less sweet. For my sandwich, I knew to expect a generous portion because of other reviewers, but the high quality French bread wowed me! The texture of some of the sliced meats wasn't for me, but I liked the pate and the fresh veggies. Next time, I'll try the pork banh mi and one of the noodles bowls - and hopefully soon!

Yelp
Okay, the important thing is that Coda Bakery's food is fantastic and quite reasonably priced. The other important thing to note is that it's probably the loudest restaurant I've ever not simply left and probably one of the most crowded (during our visit), too. Oh, and lock your car doors and be careful driving in and out of the area (drugged people freely walking in and out of the street) and getting in and out of your car - there aren't many worse locations in town. Coda Bakery has fantastic food (probably the best spring roll I've ever had - that crunch! - and a couple of the best banh mi, too - and the raisin/coconut flake "croissant" I had was wonderful). Good coffee, too. Made to order. Great and efficient counter service. Lots of seating (these six-seat tables that really only have space for four people), but not enough for the crowds that come in (and stand around waiting for a seat to open) at lunch. Pricing is reasonable, even inexpensive for these inflated times. Serve yourself water, sauce, utensils and napkins at the counter. The room itself is pretty and well appointed but every surface is hard, resulting in that clattery banging that makes conversation a challenge. And the entire world knows about Coda Bakery. Got there and lined up with a friend at 11:30 on a Friday. Got through the order line pretty quickly and were fortunate enough to find a just-opened table. Then - BAM! - the place was full past capacity with people standing in line, eating, ordering and standing around behind diners, just waiting for a table to open. Since all the surfaces are hard, it was LOUD - my friend and I had a really difficult time conversing while facing one another across the smallish table. Yowza. The ambiance is so oppressive during the rush that it's hard for me to say this is a five-star experience . . . but the food is so wonderful that it's impossible for me NOT to do so. I'd recommend timing your visit for off hours - it's what I'll be doing . . . and I'll certainly be back soon _despite_ the crowds and the horrible location.

Yelp
We came here at the new location, never had a chance to visit the old location by Talin market. It is still pretty close from the old location. It really isn't in a safe part of town as you'll see lot of homeless people in the area walking around. Location aside, everything is great. Nice modern and clean looking interior and the menus on the walls are pretty self explanatory. We ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 iced coffee, and a pork pate chaud and it ran a little over $30. Girlfriend ordered beef lemon grass, which i didn't taste, but she said it was good. I had the grilled chicken which was good. The Vietnamese ice coffee was too strong for my girlfriend, she wanted it less sweet, but it's batch made so the put less ice to counter it. For reference, we like Lee's ice coffee from the bay area, which is on the sweeter side. Even if it wasn't less ice, I think it would be too strong, even for me. But this is strong bitterish coffee as Vietnamese coffee should be. The bread is what makes the sandwiches though, very good texture and the right amount of soft crunch which is ideal for me and you know the bread is fresh. The pate chaud was really good, the pastry had the perfect amount of flakiness and the filling was on point from what I'm use to. I would say it's the best I've had in a long while and the best compared to all I've had in the Phoenix AZ metro area which I moved from last year. I would come back for these 100%. Overall it's the best banh mi I've had in the ABQ area. We will be back when ever we are close by. Would recommend it to anyone, but just be aware it isn't in the best area since there is a lot of transient people loitering around. Which there was one on the west side!

Yelp
Just popped into their new location and its sooo big ! I am so excited for them. Today I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, two sesame balls, #6 and #21. This is for two people. The sandwiches are always to much for me so I half it with my wife. The spring rolls are my favorite here, they are always fresh and the herbs inside are great. The price for lunch was $26 for two people is not bad at all. I am a happy customer that will continue to come .

Yelp
Tried the new location today. It was so packed at lunch, love that! I did a phone order of bulk banh mi & bulk pate chaud to reserve some to take back while in town. They were quick to pick up during busy lunch hour, and delicious. I really love how the jalapeños are shaved paper thin for the grilled pork banh mi...a special touch! And it is very rare to find a Vietnamese restaurant w fresh authentic pate chaud!!

Yelp
The best meal I've had in a long time!! Everything was fresh and delicious. I loved the house made tofu. YUM. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated that. My husband loved his pork sausage bowl, too! Excited to come back with the whole family.

Yelp
Recently visited for lunch on Saturday, the restaurant was constantly busy with customers revolving in and out. Seating wasn't an issue since many orders were take-out. This place was clean, modern, and had a nice stock of bread and desserts on display. My boyfriend brought me here since this place was featured with Guy Fieri on Food Network. #1 Đặc Biệt / Coda Combo - (5/5) Delicious! I love a good cold cut, this sandwich was packed with meat & condiments. Great balance. Super filling. #61 Bún Thịt Nướng / Grilled Pork Noodle Bowl - (5/5) So good. Ended up eating this the next day, reheated with the sauce and it was delicious. #33 Mãng Cầu / Soursop Smoothie - (5/5) Interesting flavor, sweet, and I enjoyed this! #38 Sầu Riêng / Durian Smoothie - (4/5) I expected a stronger durian flavor, it tasted more like mung bean. Still delicious though. Overall, I loved dining here and hope to try more on the menu!

Yelp
Coda bakery is absolutely awesome. The noodle bowls, salad, and banh mi are outstanding. The sesame balls and tofu are amazing as well. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. The catering also hit it out of the park! Huge trays of everything for a super reasonable price. This is definitely my go-to for Vietnamese food and I highly recommend giving it a try. It's very popular and a small space, so order ahead or be prepared to wait and possibly share one of the larger tables!

Yelp
Bahn Mi and Vietnamese coffee are so good! They offered Vietnamese desserts as well. Def recommend.

Yelp
Coda Bakery is a amazing restaurant, there food is fresh and delicious, the service is fast, I wish they had more room for seating but it's always busy because the food, bread and egg roles are so tasty. if your tooling for something delicious and satisfying this is a great place to try.!
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
A busy Vietnamese sandwich shop in ABQ. The service was fast. They took our order quickly and even though they had tons of customers our sandwiches came out with 6-10 minutes. Our favorite of the 3 was number #6 the grilled pork but they all hit the spot. We'll definitely be going back!
google avatar

Chris R.

Yelp
I was so sad. I went through the original location and assumed that it was closed. But I am so glad that it was just the fact that they moved to a better and bigger location. Service is satisfactory, in that the utilize self service (picking items from the fridge) and person check out. Their menu didn't change, which is fine by me, but now they even have pictures on the wall so that you're able to visualize what those sandwiches look like. Clean, modern environment, matches the elegance of the food. Their Banh Mi was top-tier. Freshness from the jalapeños, carrots, and other veggies, created an opportunity for the grilled pork to shine so much more and being incorporated in every single bite. Bread was fluffy with a nice crunch.
google avatar

Devy P.

Yelp
Coda never disappoints! Everything I get I love! From the drinks to desserts they're always so busy! But they get the job done quick!
google avatar

Tracy N.

Yelp
Was visiting ABQ and had to try the viet food. Service was quick and I would def recommend this place. Banh mi was pretty solid, I just wanted more pate and the avocado smoothie was a 10/10
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
My friends had raved about this shop so I wanted to try it out before I left town. Stopped by Monday morning and ordered the dac biet sandwich, Vietnamese coffee, and a pandan cake for the road. Everything was delicious. Coffee was nice ans strong, sandwich was loaded with fillings and the bread was crusty but soft and chewy and the pandan cake had that great machine texture with nutty pandan flavor. The shop was super clean with lots of food options and seating. Service was welcoming and quick!
google avatar

Justin N.

Yelp
Coda Bakery's new spot is much improved over their old location and the food is as good as ever. The Banh Mi's are still the best in ABQ and they even have more menu options now in this new location. We're looking forward to trying more things!
google avatar

Cassie B.

Yelp
Delicious banh mi, great value, super friendly staff, and the wait was really not bad
google avatar

Bill S.

Yelp
The house made tofu is the best I've ever had and I've been eating tofu for over 50 years! Try the tofu noodle or rice bowl with Korean BBQ sauce. Or the Tofu Bahn Mi. The portions are generous. The spring rolls are also excellent. The staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable All the sauces are delicious too. I wish this place was in Austin where I live
google avatar

Kathy C.

Yelp
The banh mi was tasty however the bread wasnt crispy or toasty. It had more of a chewy texture which I was surprised by. Bread was not fresh even though it was a busy saturday. The pandan cake was just okay. The sweet rice and bean dessert was delicious. Service was good and the cashier was attentive and friendly.
google avatar

LeeAnn M.

Yelp
Still one my favorite lunch spots. The Bahn Mi and coffee are so good. Everything always comes out pretty quick and fresh and staff is always kind. This new spot has much more room to dine in and such better parking. A very chill spot. As an already returning customer, I will be back. (Especially for the Vietnamese iced coffee)
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
Small little shop most already know about. I'm always near when I'm here but never have the time. Finally this go around got to get my Bahn mi fix. For the price it's great for practically a 12" sandwich. The grilled chicken is like a bbq chicken and chopped up in big chunks. Most places I been around the country give slices or tiny chopped pieces. Flavor was good, little light on the mayo which I like but missing that special liquid seasonings IYKYK. Other than that bread texture was good and fillings and veggies were on point. I can see why they are always busy with dine in or to go orders. Adequate parking in the lot so no worry there. Raisin roll was good. Got hooked on raisins since I was a kid so anything raisins I like. It's like a rolled up croissant and in the layer is little coconut flakes along with raisins and corse sugar on top. Something like a cronut but rolled.
google avatar

Brenda S.

Yelp
We had a delicious meal! Take out for 7 everyone loved it . So fresh and flavorful. One person ordered a tofu dish that was to die for the spring rolls were excellent with the tofu.. I had a combination meat dish. I forget the name of it, but it was stunningly beautiful
google avatar

Shanti C.

Yelp
Coda Bakery is a cute Vietnamese restaurant with delicious sandwiches (Banh Mi) and bowls. The ingredients are fresh and they have the best tofu I've ever had!! It's fried with delicious Korean BBQ sauce. I get it every time. You can get it as a noodle bowl or even as a salad bowl!! Healthy and yummy Service is usually very quick also. Their smoothies are also quite good.
google avatar

Yelen P.

Yelp
Got take-out: - #63 Bún Đậu Hũ - Fried Tofu - House made fried tofu served plain or with Korean BBQ sauce. - #33 Soursop smoothie The smoothie was nice :) refreshing and delicious. Soursop has a slightly acidic flavor. But of course there's a lot of sugar in it, so it's quite tasty I ate the fried tofu noodle bowl the next day. It was still good. It's a good value for the amount of food you get (compared to other restaurants, for example). Service - didn't eat there, but last time, they were very helpful and kind Ambiance - didn't eat there, but last time it was unassuming and pleasant
google avatar

Yelp
Holy moly! This place is AMAZING! Such a huge and affordable menu! And delicious! Please support this business so it thrives because it is awesome! We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Lovely place for Vietnamese sandwiches. Quick counter service and a nonstop stream of people for Saturday lunch. Excellent banh mi for $8.5 and great fresh spring rolls.

Yelp
I recently relocated to ABQ and was told about Coda. From my experiences it is really good food with a very attentive staff. On my last visit the server misunderstood my order. When I picked up the order she corrected it right away and sent me home with a free order of fried green onion tofu and a smile. I can't recommend the food and service more.

Beth W.

Yelp
We walked in and immediately knew we were in for a treat based on the delicious smells. We ordered green onion tofus, the #1 cold cut banh mi and the grilled pork banh mi. We also got the fresh shrimp spring rolls. The spring roll was fresh - the cilantro was refreshing. The tofu? I can see why people buy boxes of these to bring home. Silky, crispy - it was so lovely. The banh mi sandwiches were the best banh mi I've ever had. We couldn't choose a favorite - ultimately we decided that if we wanted a cold sandwich, we'd definitely get #1 again and if we were in the mood for a hot sandwich, we'd get #6! We also tried the mung bean/coconut sesame balls. The exterior is so crispy. I think I prefer the Chinese red bean paste interior filling but the mung bean/coconut was different and still tasty. Can't wait to stop by here again. Please expand to other states!! We would be coming here all the time!
google avatar

Dru B.

Yelp
Food is great. But each visit the lobby floor & tables have always been dirty. Single garbage can fills up quickly. I think this place just needs to hire a person dedicated for the lobby. Food is great though.
google avatar

R G.

Yelp
Good explanations, guidance of Vietnamese foods, yet the best is the food is prepared after ordered. My chicken banh mi was made with thigh meat and it was excellent. Crisp veggies cut thinly, a good amount of meat and flavor, not spicy so I added some spice. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft in the center. It's sad to know they no longer make the pandan coconut waffles. . The restaurant ambiance is modern and a bit cafeteria-ish.

Yelp
I love everything about this Vietnamese bakery--delicious food and great value! The grilled pork is delicious on anything (spring rolls, banh mi, vermicelli bowls, you name it!) and their pastries are so buttery and rich. The tofu is also great, nicely fried and super soft inside. Grilled chicken is also great and flavorful! Portion size is great, and even the salads are delicious. The sesame ball is the best I've ever had (including all the ones I've had in NYC) with a truly crunchy shell and not-too-sweet mung bean paste inside. The green chile chicken pastry is delicious (granted, you don't taste much green chile) with a creamy filling and that amazing buttery pastry. The pastry with the vietnamese meatball inside is also good, and the meatball is the same as the one you can get in the banh mi with a pronounced black pepper flavor. We also tried the banh cuon which was a great amount of food and came with sausage on top and a ton of fresh veggies. Avocado smoothie was A+ as well! I thought the pandan honeycomb cake was interesting but a bit too sweet--it was good to try but not my favorite dessert here. This spot is definitely my fave in Albuquerque and you really can't go wrong, especially at the great prices. Noodle bowls are $10.50, banh mi are $8.50 regardless of which one you get, spring rolls are $6.50 and huge! (also, that peanut sauce is delicious!), pastries are $5.50, I think?, but the sesame ball is only $1.50. This just might be my favorite Vietnamese place in the U.S....

Yelp
September 6, 2023. Wednesday. Lunch. Ate here with 3 co-workers. Never visited here though this restaurant has been around for quite a long time. It's a combination Vietnamese bakery and lunch and dinner spot. They sell noodle bowls, salad bowls, spring rolls and sandwiches in addition to the pastries and drinks. I ordered the Chao Tom sandwich ($8.50) with extra meat ($3.50). This sandwich came with crispy, thin baguette bread, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots, green bell peppers, jalapenos and grilled sausage made of shrimp and pork. The sausage is thin and small, so I'm glad I took my co-worker's advice and ordered an extra one. The fresh ingredients, soft bread, cilantro and marvelous sausage made this one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in a while. They took the order and delivered the sandwich within ten minutes. The sign on the wall says they're moving to 201 San Pedro in 2023. Try them at the current address for the next few months. I've heard their pastries are quite good as well.

Yelp
The fried tofu bahn Mi was delicious. The tofu was soft but not gelatinous, it was hot but not to the point you had to wait to eat it. The veggies had a pickled flavor that complimented the whole thing and added more flavor to the already flavorful tofu. Coda combo bahn mi was okay, I didn't really taste any flavors besides the ham and raw veggies. There was a pepper or two in there I think but that's about it. I was surprised because I thought this one would be my favorite sandwich and it ended up being the tofu one. The desserts were all decent but nothing really popped out like wow, I tried two different ones. I've had much better Pre made desserts from grocery stores. The staff wasn't too informative to let me know what they were called so I just included pictures. I feel like if you are Vietnamese or have some nostalgia for their local food, you will probably like it more than I did. I'm more of an international foodie, and to me most of the meal was just missing that smoking gun to make it great. Not sure if that's how it traditionally tastes, so maybe this is all just MY opinion and worth the benefit of the doubt for you guys reading this to still try them out. I will say this though, best tofu I've ever tried in the state of New Mexico. Hands down good job on that.
google avatar

Atalanta P.

Yelp
I was very fond of Coda Bakery in their previous location and the food is just as good in the new space! I usually get the fried egg banh mi but on my most recent visit I made myself try the tofu version because I had heard it was also delicious. I think I prefer the egg but the tofu one is a lot less messy. The coffee is also top notch.
google avatar

Julie R.

Yelp
Coda is by far still a regular spot for me. Post COVID, there was a slight increase in their pricing but you tell me one spot that didn't increase their prices! Everything is still well worth the price here. Not to mention so much is made in house here. Their in home made tofu is the best! You can get it by the piece or in any of the dishes. I have it in the spring roll, banh mi, noodle bowl and the salad bowl. Have it any way you want it! It's so goooood! Coda is one of my favorite places for fast Vietnamese food. We often pick it up and head back to the office. It usually go once a week to be honest. We came today, and I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and #9. As I gathered my bag of food, ready to bounce, I had a catastrophe. My banh mi tipped my coffee over as I picked up my bag. It rolled to edge of the bench, I tried to reach for it, and I saw it fall off the edge! It was TERRIBLE! I made a mess, I cleaned it up...but, they were super sweet and replaced my coffee for me! Thank you Coda! I needed that coffee. Thank you for the always stellar customer service.

Yelp
Amazing salads and noodle bowls. Quick service tough they can get VERY busy. Spring rolls are also very tasty.

Yelp
I tend to think nobody is perfect, but i've eaten here at least 10 times and never walked away unsatisfied. Their food is top notch, Iced coffee, raisin pastry fantastic (i know, raisin pastry in a Vietnamese place.. ? but you have to try it), spring rolls, sandwiches..never had anything i didn't like. They are friendly, fast, the place is clean and everybody is smiling and friendly... what's not to like. If i met the owner, i would beg them to open a place downtown so i could eat there for lunch once a week. Selfish huh? a store for me? They are in a wonky part of town, in a wonky town../ but the food. :)

Yelp
The best Vietnamese sandwiches in Albuquerque. Also the best fresh-baked French baguettes in New Mexico!! Not only that but Coda Bakery has the best-tasting marinated pork chop rice dishes !! They're open only till 5:30 pm, since it's located in the worst area (the most dangerous area) of Albuquerque. But it's definitely worth going there !!

Yelp
Coda Bakery is a Vietnamese bakery and restaurant off Louisiana in a strip mall. Their business is geared toward to-go food and counter service. They have a few benches outside and then tables inside; none get table service. As of late September 2023, they are construction is underway at a new location. I had a Bánh Mì Xíu Mai, which is a Vietnamese pork meatball sandwich served on a baguette for $8.50. It's their #4. I also had a bành patê sô, also known as a patê chaud, which is a flaky, buttery pastry shell with a meatball inside. It's a holdover from French colonialism, from which the pastry derived. The bánh mì was fine; I've had better in Albuquerque. I wish it would have been served with fish sauce in a ramekin or on the table to add to the sandwich. The bánh pâte wasn't particularly my "cup of tea". It was mostly all pastry, though once I got to the center I found the meatball. It was quite greasy because of the butter. Be aware because of the location indigent people will come in and ask dining patrons for change or to sell items. Our group experienced that twice during the lunch hour. The venue was very busy and the restaurant is quite popular. I had been wanting to try it for some time, so I'm glad I did, but I likely wouldn't return.

Yelp
This place was amazing! We live in Santa Fe and travel to Albuquerque for Vietnamese food. This place is now added to our list of favorites! The staff were helpful and kind. The place was busy! The staff said it was a new location for them and it was nicely decorated and clean. The portions are very generous. We had the spring rolls, the chicken noodle bowl and the chicken rice bowl.
