Coffee Project in the East Village is a small, modern spot with a Euro-café vibe (bonus points for the no-laptop policy). Their medium-roast blend—Colombia meets Guatemala—hits a sweet spot: smooth milk-chocolate body with a caramel finish, zero bitterness, and plenty of flavor. I ordered an almond croissant, and the staff offered to pop it in the oven. It came out crisp outside, soft and fragrant inside—no sogginess. They even let us enjoy a couple of pastries we’d picked up elsewhere at their outdoor table, all with genuine warmth. Friendly people, thoughtful touches, and a medium roast I’d gladly order again. Perfect coffee-and-pastry stop in the neighborhood.

Google
We ordered pour over and nitro flight. The special Colombia natural pour over had watermelon and lollipop notes, but $15 is very pricy even compared to San Francisco. The nitro flight is interesting but the beans used is probably not the best, so the taste is a little flat. Gave 4 stars for atmosphere because the shop doesn’t have a restroom. This is probably common in NYC, so if you don’t mind that, it has great atmosphere.

Google
Small cage with outdoor and indoor seating. Cocoyam beans are quality and darker, more bitter roast for an intense coffee flavor. Staff are kind and helpful. They also have wifi for work and some pastries. I ordered the cinnamon roll which was perfection - lots of icing and fluffy and sweet. A bit pricey $6.50 but still worth it in my opinion. I wonder if they bake in house? I also ordered a decaf latte with oat milk and it was good. Tables inside are small and there is only one plug so hard to work from by I made it happen.

Google
Good coffee place. Got their seasonal pandan latte with salted coconut foam. Their coffee was not as flavorful as I was hoping for. The foam did balance the pandan flavoring. It was a good pandan drink but not coffee drink. Service was great and quick.

Google
Fantastic coffee and friendly service! The outdoor seating offers a warm, inviting atmosphere. Begin by tasting the rich espresso, followed by a sip of the velvety foamed milk. Cleanse your palate with the sparkling water, enjoy a crunchy bite of the cookie, and finish with a smooth sip of the completed latte.

Google
While there are plenty of spots around, this one truly captures the essence of NYC. With its inviting patio and comfortable seating, it offers a warm, authentic vibe. The espresso drinks are top-notch, and the pastries are just as delightful. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the visit even more enjoyable. Definitely worth the stroll from the subway.

Google
I’m so bummed to leave this review becuase usually I love this spot when I come to myc. My drink was rushed. Made way too hot which killed the flavors and foam. Even the cup was a mess.

Vicki

Google
Really tight space in the @coffeeprojectny East Village location, but was able to get a spot to enjoy a good cup of latte and some yummy pastries.

Yelp
The pandan cold foam latte we ordered here was easily my fav specialty coffee drink of all time!! I typically am hesitant about ordering fun drinks like this bc they tend to be overly sweet but I loved that this drink had just the right amount of sweetness to it and also a really vibrant pandan flavor. The espresso shot also added nice depth and a little bitterness to balance out the sweet components. 10/10 would order again

Yelp
4.5 stars. Coffee Project is a small, warmly lit shop with a great selection of quality third wave coffee. They have a variety of (expensive) pourovers, including gesha. I got the deconstructed latte, which is presented nicely in a flight of espresso, steamed milk, and single shot latte. The espresso itself is their house blend espresso, which tasted pretty normal like other blends. If you're looking for some fun tasting beans, they have a range of light roasts with different processes. Prices range from $25 - $45 per bag. The cons -- seating is limited, and there's no bathroom.
google avatar

Yelp
Going to keep this simple and sweet. LOVE the aesthetics of this cafe. LOVE their seasonal drinks!!! I wished I could try all of them but I don't live around the area. If you're around the area PLEASEEE get the season drinks. I got the Pandan Foam Latte this time and I LOVEEED IT! Except I could do without the coconut cream as a finish.

Yelp
stopped in here on a weekday morning to grab a cuppa coffee and lox. The dining area a few tables and seats by the window. There are outdoor seating as well. The lox was smooth and the bread that it was on was soft and crispy. The capers was a nice touch and the cream cheese was fantastic. i would definitely stop in again the next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
If you are coming here, you MUST get the deconstructed latte. It is absolutely worth it and you will immediately have a smile on your face. They will talk you through exactly what everything is and how to drink it. It is so fun! Small little shop, not a lot of seating but still cute.

Yelp
Drink: The coffees were great! If you enjoy a nice fizzy drink i'd recommend The Happy Drink! My friend had a seasonal drink and it was FANTASTIC! Service: The baristas here were amazing. Extremely friendly & willing to take their time to explain their coffees. Ambiance: This spot is small with limited seating but great walking to do in the area!

Yelp
I popped in for a to-go latte, and loved the experience! The coffee was super high quality and the staff were very friendly. Loved sitting outside briefly in the sun and enjoyed how quiet the street was! I will happily come back again. Only thing to note is that they don't have a ton of seating or space indoors. :)

Yelp
I visited most of the coffee-going places in the US. Start from Seattle to DC. This coffee shop is absolutely chill and I love hanging out with people around the shop. This coffee is of great quality. Barista was very friendly and knew what she was doing. Whoever roasted those beans today gave him or her huge kudos. Good job, real roasters!

Yelp
Stopped by this place looking to try a new coffee spot and was not disappointed. I got the kickass London fog and it was a really good cup of coffee. I love earl grey tea and this latte was a nice twist. Definitely would recommend to someone who loves tea and coffee. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly and we got our drinks quickly. The space was pretty small. Not somewhere I would sit for a while, but it was good for a quick sit down while I drank my coffee.
google avatar

Annalissa C.

Yelp
I would definitely recommend this place for a quick stop. I ordered a hot chocolate and thought it was pretty good and the design on top was cute. I wish it was a little hotter because it came just warm so I had to drink it kinda fast. But the taste was definitely there. The place itself is really nice. The staff is kind and informed my fiancée about the drink he was about to get before ordering it because it was different. He was able to make a decision that better suited what he wanted which was nice. There's a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Most people order to go so we had no problem getting a seat. It was also clean and the music was nice.

Yelp
Cute coffeeshop in EV! Yummy drinks and pastries. Nothing too special but it's still a solid coffeeshop! Limited seating, good friendly service!

Yelp
Tiny coffee shop w just. Few places to sit but there is covered seating outside of it isn't too cold. We popped in on a rainy day so we were really thankful to have nabbed and indoor seat to warm up and get comfy for a bit. The menu offer a good mix of things. Despite being cold, I still needed to try the Yuzu espresso tonic since they're my fav -- one of the best I've had. So good. It's priced slightly higher than normal but they're friendly here and brought drinks out to us when they were ready. Weirdly, they did list a whole bunch of rules tho. No laptops and a few others?? I can't remember now. Seems like putting a time limit when seating is full would ensure seating availability without banning certain devices? Still like it but so strange. No restroom so don't drink too much unless u know what your next stop is.

Yelp
The coffee is to die for. Possibly the BEST coffee I've ever had. I tried their seasonal - Black sesame coffee in Oat milk and my New Yorker friend ordered his regular Kickass London Fog. It was very smooth and creamy and earl grey tea in it added slight citrus hint. Very unique. I couldn't decide which coffee I liked the most. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. The cafe is small but has a cute and cozy vibe. There's some seating but it's not a particularly roomy establishment. Upon checking more, I learned that they have 2 more locations in Manhattan. I can't wait to visit again. Direct yourself there now!!!!

Yelp
I was out exploring the city and decided to stop by Coffee Project NY for a much-needed pick-me-up, and I'm so glad I did. Their iced coffee was exactly what I needed--it was refreshingly cold, incredibly smooth, and had just the right balance of sweetness without being overpowering. You can really tell they take the time to perfect each cup, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It wasn't just a quick caffeine fix; it felt like a mini treat in the middle of my busy day. I'll definitely be back to check out some of their other drinks next time--I'm curious to see what else they've got brewing!

Yelp
Coffee Project in the East Village is a sustainably-centered coffee shop that aims to "improve the quality of life for every person in the coffee supply chain, from producers to consumers" and offers a deconstructed latte flights for a unique tasting experience. We ordered a deconstructed latte with oat milk with featured a shot of espresso, steamed oat milk and an oat milk latte along with seltzer water as a palette cleanser and waffle cookie as a treat. We enjoyed getting to taste the different notes in the espresso alone and with milk. We also had the Yuzu Jolt, a yuzu lemonade drink with cold brew which was refreshing and summery. For food we had the rhubarb scone and avocado croissant with feta, tomato and black sesame. Coffee Project is proof you can serve great coffee while still doing right by the coffee making community and customers

Yelp
The staff is so friendly and you can really tell by the way they interact with the regulars. I love that you can get drinks and food to stay in real silverware because it just feels less wasteful and tastes better than a to go cup in my opinion! I definitely want to come back and try some of their unique drinks like the London Fog.

Yelp
I'm particular with my coffee & the cold brew was JUST what I needed! The flavor was well balanced and gave me the kick I needed in the morning. I added oat milk and it gave it a nice creamy flavor. Very good coffee!! The guy at the front desk was super kind and welcomed me in. It's a smaller seating area inside but I was able to find a spot and do some work while visiting NYC for a bit. Would recommend for anyone looking for a local coffee spot

Yelp
love the creativity - the nitro flight is always my go to and the deconstructive latte is fun, too!

Yelp
As I stepped inside, I was greeted by a sense of tranquility that felt like a breath of fresh air amidst the chaos of the city. Surprisingly, despite its prime location, The Coffee Project managed to maintain a sense of calm that was sorely lacking in the nearby caffeine-fueled hotspots. Perhaps it's the slightly off-the-beaten-path location that keeps the chaos at bay, but whatever the reason, I found myself instantly drawn to the cozy ambience and inviting atmosphere. Of course, no visit to The Coffee Project would be complete without sampling their signature beverages. I opted for the Matcha Latte, and let me tell you, it was just what the doctor ordered--creamy, frothy, and perfectly balanced, it hit the spot in all the right ways. But it wasn't just the drinks that left me impressed--it was the impeccable service, too. From the friendly smiles to the quick and helpful assistance, the staff at The Coffee Project went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of delightful. Sure, it may be a small space, but don't let that fool you. The Coffee Project is the perfect spot to cozy up with a good book or catch up with friends over a steaming cup of joe. So next time you find yourself in need of a little respite from the chaos of city life, look no further than The Coffee Project in the East Village. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for our second coffee break this past Monday morning. I've been to the Coffee Project Chelsea location before and enjoyed their pour over, so I wanted to try something else. DECONSTRUCTED LATTE - 12 Between three people, we decided to share this tasting flight since it's definitely a unique way to serve a latte. First, we were told to take a sip of the espresso to get the notes before moving on to sip and enjoy the natural sweetness of steamed milk. They also have a little cookie on the side with sparking water as well as a "constructed" latte (so, your typical latte drink). We found the espresso to have an astringent taste and didn't enjoy it. The steamed milk was fine. It definitely had the natural milk sweetness which made the bitter espresso more bearable. The actual latte itself was really milky and we couldn't really taste a lot of espresso flavors. Overall, we didn't love the deconstructed latte, but we thought it was a neat attempt for an interesting concept.
google avatar

Selena Y.

Yelp
Lovely little coffee shop where I enjoyed sitting outdoors and catching up with a friend. My seasonal Sakura Blossom Latte was beautifully presented with the layers of pink in it, but it definitely needed a good stir - my first sip was intensely syrupy. Once it was mixed through though, it had a nice floral and slight cherry flavor to it. My friend ordered the Deconstructed Latte, which had such a fun presentation. The downside: she said she could pretty much predict what the flavors were before drinking it, and it felt like the deconstruction wasn't as "special" as she had hoped. The presentation was more for the photo op than anything else, and it might be better to just get a regular latte next time.

Ariel S.

Yelp
I came here at the beginning of a rainy day couch shopping session with my boyfriend. It's a smaller space inside with very limited seating for in-person meals. It ended up getting pretty packed and people had to stand or leave. I really enjoyed the special matcha latte I got and my boyfriend ordered a warm latte. We also got some food -- i got the egg salad croissant Sammy. Although super tasty, it just was way too expensive for 2 lattes and lite bites. I ended up paying 55 before tip. It's not their fault, I'm just in the wrong consumer bracket. Overall, I would recommend if you don't mind splurging a bit on familiar favorites.
google avatar

Ethan T.

Yelp
So, I checked out Coffee Project in the East Village and had a pretty good time. Went for the avocado toast on sourdough, nicely done with cheese and tomatoes on top. The sourdough was exactly what you'd hope for, but honestly, the chai latte with oat milk stole the show for me. It was amazingly creamy and had this perfect foam on top. The place got a bit crowded while we were there, but we didn't have any trouble finding a seat and ended up staying for around an hour. Despite the crowd, the vibe stayed relaxed enough to enjoy our stay. If you're in the East Village and looking for a spot to grab a good bite and an even better drink, Coffee Project is worth a visit. It's a cozy place with a lively atmosphere, perfect for catching up or just enjoying a great chai latte.
google avatar

Alissa A.

Yelp
I honestly just had a bad experience here and a barista who was a little rude. Coffee Project is a cute place, but the service was disappointing to me, and the drink I ordered, the iced chai latte, was disappointing. There was more than an inch missing from the top (seemed underfilled) and it tasted super milky and not really chai-like even though it wasn't filled all the way. Not worth the money in my opinion. There are a lot better cafes in the city that have better customer service and drinks.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
My absolute favorite local coffee shop! It's small, but there's both outdoor and indoor seating. Although a bit pricey, the coffee is delicious and rich (I usually order an iced latte with oat milk). The staff is incredibly friendly, and the ambiance is very warm. Great place to study/do work for a couple hours. There is wifi, but no bathroom. Ask for a stamp card - 10 purchases for a free drink!
google avatar

Willi R.

Yelp
I had one of the best espresso shots I ever had here. Everyone is super nice, I loved the pour over as well. Everyone was professional and nice here during my visit. THe place has good vibes and will most certainly be back in the future.

Sam S.

Yelp
I had a bad experience here with the barista, but the coffee overall was really good. We ordered a latte and quickly paid and looked for seating in the small shop. Since the shop is really small, one of the baristas working the front end as trying to get people to move and get out so others could sit. When some other people got upset that they didn't have enough time to finish their drinks they argued back and forth. It was a bit uncomfortable but the two girls eventually left outside on the snow and finished their coffee there. It was honestly unnecessary.
google avatar

Shwe N.

Yelp
I loved this place during my long visit to NYC! Super quick, affordable, and adjustable to your preferences. The ice vanilla latte is something you cannot go wrong with, cold brew is NICELY done and not tooo bitter, and the deconstructed latte tray came with milk, sparking water, etc. One of my must try coffee spots when recommending to fellow coffee lovers! The cashier/baristas are always friendly and talkative too. Small place, but you may find a table to do some work if you're lucky!
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Great coffee, coffee drinks, pastries, service, and it's expensive. Not a lot of seating indoors but more outside.
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Came on a Thursday around 1:30pm. There were still a few seats indoor and some outside. However, there were more people that came in as time went by. I got the happy drink. It was a sparkling water with a shot of espresso topped with whipped cream. They really fill it to the brim. I was advised to slowly mix it to avoid spilling, but it still overflowed from the glass. The drink was good, coffee was more acidic than I would've liked, but the creaminess from the whipped cream toned it down. Very reminiscent of the snowy plover from Andytown in SF. There were a mix of new customers and regulars that dropped by while I was there. Staff are friendly. They have classic drinks as well as innovative ones such a deconstructed latte.

berkeley m.

Yelp
Absolute best service I've ever had at a coffee shop! Came in shortly after they opened and the girl (there all by herself) took all the time to talk to me about their coffees. And let me just say, the house blend was UNREAL. I will definitely be back to try a pour over.
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
I came here to catch up with a friend and the weather was really nice, so we ended up sitting outside as they have an enclosed outdoor space. It is a pretty small coffee shop, with only a few tables inside. The service was very good and friendly. They have a good selection of coffee, along with baked goods and a few bigger items to choose from. I would definitely come here if looking for great coffee and a chill atmosphere.
google avatar

Dr Rahim F.

Yelp
This was a little pricey, but the food was very good. Pom pom macha(?? I think was name) drink was off the hook!! Some of the best i have had
google avatar

Dustina P.

Yelp
ambiance: gorgeous high end aesthetic, kind of craft bar-y but more polished. there are seats at the counter where you can watch the barista make their drip coffee. Service is very fast and pleasant. food: definitely my fault for ordering a pumpkin spice muffin in July but it even being on the menu intrigued me it was dry and tough on the outside and ultra greasy and condensed on the inside Entirely inedible. coffee: I ordered the Kick-Ass London Fog w skim milk and it was very good my only complaint would be the lackluster lavender flavor. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this place, there are coffee shops in the area that have better products
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
The seasonal Sakura blossom latte is so cute and delicious! If you like your coffee sweet, don't mix it and just let the syrup in the bottom mix with every sip. Pricey for a latte, but makes for a great treat! The inside is really calm so it's a great place to chat with a friend.
google avatar

Neha G.

Yelp
After seeing photos of the deconstructed latte, I thought I have to visit this place! So I stopped by late afternoon and luckily was able to secure a table. The place is small with just three tables for couples, a bench for two, and a small barstool seating. Those that come, do like to linger and take it slow with their drinks. The deconstructed latte was all about presentation. You get three glasses including a shot of espresso, some milk ($1 extra for oat milk), and then a latte. Also comes with sparkling water as a palate cleanser and wafer/pizzelle. The espresso is strong & bitter, milk is basic, and the latte was decent. I had the impression this comes deconstructed but I'd be mixing items together to make the latte. Instead, it's just 3 items giving you the chance to taste them separately. (Approx $12-14) While ascetically pleasing to the eye, I'd probably just order a latte in a mug instead for under $6. They sell various pastries (including a few vegan options & some gluten free) as well as some breakfast like food items (toast). You can also purchase their coffee and some merch. There is a water jug near the front to refill your glass. I managed to find a power plugin there to charge my phone. No restrooms.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
Part of a larger coffee network, the Coffee Project East Village is a small coffee shop in...well...the East Village. On a Sunday morning, my wife and I stopped in for quality coffee. We were met with that and excellent service. The space is small, but they make good use of a few tables inside and a little bar with coffee condiments. The staff are helpful and make your drink within minutes behind the bar. If you stay inside, they bring you your drink. My wife loved their decaf latte and my campfire latte was fun with a marshmallow and graham crackers in it!
google avatar

Melanie Z.

Yelp
Loved this spot so much I stopped by twice during my last trip! The deconstructed latte is a super cute concept and surprisingly a good amount of coffee (around ~1.5 lattes). The regular lattes here are also amazing, and the service is so friendly!
google avatar

Andreas K.

Yelp
The coffee shops in NYC are fortunately uncountable and hence, there is almost everywhere a place to get a great coffee. All or many of them provide wonderful variations of coffee. And while they may not beat each other, their real win is not what they are but what they are not. I.e. it is great to have so many alternatives to Starbucks, and CBTL, and Peet's etc.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
Coffee has apparently evolved from a cart or shop to a full-fledged "project" which is just fine by me. This hipster hole-in-the-wall delivers the caffeinated goods, offering well constructed java offerings that never fail to please. While I'll never warm to learning the backstory on everything I consume during the day, they'll be happy to fill you in if you prefer. My latte was spectacular as were the specialty beverages off of the non-coffee menu. And in a welcome departure from the usual NYC jackboot that all but insists you grab and go, the "project" encourages lingering which, although very unscientific, makes everything taste that much better. An easy five stars.
google avatar

Suzanne C.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee spot with some great outdoor seating. The decaf coffee beans - which is usually not the best - was elevated here and the oat milk used in my cappuccino was incredible. I also had a lemon loaf pastry, which was delicious. The barista was so kind and friendly, I highly recommend this spot!
google avatar

Cuc N.

Yelp
Afterwards, we hiked a little bit north to Coffee Project to try the very hipster deconstructed lattes. From left to right, espresso, whole milk, latte, sparkling water, waffle cookie. The espresso shot was very strong and bitter. I personally did not like it. I did enjoy washing it down with the frothy milk afterwards. Then we were supposed to dip on our regular lattes and each sip is supposed to enhance a new or further more of the espresso. I think the sparkling water and waffle cookie is for hydration and fun snacking. It was a fun novelty we enjoyed doing once but will never do again. For the gram! Haha Pros: -hipster coffees (new concept) -some indoor seating -clean and cute -deconstructed latte comes with a waffle cookie and sparkling water -they sell their own coffee beans -also sell merchandise like mugs, coffee filters, etc Cons: -no restrooms

Yelp
Loved their drinks and appreciated the wide variety of options for coffee contisseurs, caffeine lovers, latte drinkers, and everyone in between! The hojicha latte was super smooth with nicely mixed hojicha. The roasted tea flavors were prominent My friends thought the milk was a little too much but I really enjoyed it and how it balanced the slight bitterness from the hojicha. The yuzu jolt was quite interesting! It was cold brew plus this yuzu lemonade. I'm always for tea and coffee combos but this one was pretty unique. The strong citrus gave the coffee bitterness a longer lingering sweetness? The mint leaves also added another refreshing summer-y layer to the mixture. They have this Nitro flight that looked super cool and I definitely want to try next time. There is some indoor and outdoor seating. The baristas were nice and happy to answer questions. Overall had a good time and can't wait to try other drinks.

Nadya S.

Yelp
stopped by this cute coffee shop for brunch and caffeine. baristas were super friendly and the ambiance was warm. i also loved the music they were playing - very fall & cozy :) avocado toast - 5/5 - flavorful, generous portion of avocado, and the crunch of the sourdough was IMPECCABLE (seasonal) iced hojicha latte w/ oat milk - 3.5/5 - nutty & balanced, though nothing special. will be trying out their other drinks! note: they are laptop free on weekends!!

Yelp
The Ginger exiler espresso is amazing! It's a delicious combo I would never have thought of. Cafe is full of natural light and small tables. Light chatter and lots of people working. Selection of food including gf options.

Yelp
4.5 stars rounded up to 5. High quality coffee you can taste! A little pricey but worth it. Best tasting cortado I've had in a while. They also have some indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
Love the vibe here! Staff is super friendly and my friend says this is the best oat milk latte she's had. They have a small menu of special drinks as well as the classics. They also serve a small amount of pas On a quaint corner of the EV and it seems quiet but also well-loved. Would recommend.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in NYC! It's pretty small, so sometimes it's hard to find seating inside (although there is seating available outside). The egg salad toast is my favorite, the bread is super crunchy and the egg salad is super fluffy and flavorful. The baristas are all super sweet as well!
