This place is beautiful. The food is fantastic, and the service was remarkable. My brother and I came about 20 min before our reservation and they still sat us no problem, coffee was phenomenal and our glasses were never empty. The avocado toast starter was AMAZING. Kinda spicy, with creamy avocado and fresh crème. The toast was very crispy so it had a nice crunch. For our entrees I ordered the funeral potatoe Benedict. It was DENSE, glad I came super hungry. Needed some more salt but the sauce was creamy and delicious, poached egg was perfect. My brother ordered the fried chicken Bahn Mi, and it was massive. He demolished the whole thing, he said it was perfect, I tried a piece and the jalapeños were the perfect addition to the sandwich. Overall, a great restaurant with that heavy breakfast food you need after a night out, but with a higher quality and classier feel. Thanks Communal, will be back soon.

They were able to seat us immediately when we arrived a few minutes early to our reservation with our party of six. We got a couple of starters, fried cheese (excellent) and carrot hummus. Communal recommends sharing everything so we ordered pork chops, salmon, and a couple of surf and turf plates (the best). For side dishes we decided to share sugar snap peas (so good), squash, and funeral potatoes. At the end we shared a strawberry raspberry crisp for dessert. We should have ordered two as that was the crown jewel of the night. Service was excellent in that we always had our server available to us but knowing not to invade too much. Looking forward to coming back again.

Google
LOVED the “feel” of this space, keeping the original bones of the building and adding modern updates. The CHARM of the place still shines through. Wish, however, that the FOOD was equally as charming. I looked forward to having Brunch and upon the servers suggestion, tried their shrimp and grits, adding an over easy egg in addition, again at the servers strong recommendation. Thank goodness I did because that egg was literally the only saving grace for this dish. The grits were formed into these triangular, hash brown-like pieces and while I understand the thought behind it, they barely resembled grits. It just seemed like one big crunchy mass with no real flavor. And then it was topped with an odd sauce consisting of tomato sauce, a vinegar like aioli and something very bitter and burnt. The shrimp was delicious but lumped in between all of this chaos, it was a confusing dish to eat. I was grateful for the silkiness of the egg - it was the only recognizable item on the plate and I needed it to push through the meal. The restaurant has a very upscale and understated classiness about it, which is very appealing. It LOOKS like a place where you would expect a really special experience. I, however, left feeling very disappointed. I do not foresee a return in the future.

Google
Came to communal with a friend during my lunch break from work and I was very impressed! The service was quick and great; the environment was nice. I got the fried chicken bahn mi with fries and it was delicious! The chicken was so crispy, the sauce was so good, the fries were so fresh and well seasoned. Overall- loved it! Excited to go back and try more.

My wife and I went for her birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The ambience is beautiful, stained glass windows, former jewelry store, so beautiful and open environment. The food was amazing, we got mashed potatoes and blackened carrots, and ribeye steak that was cooked perfectly and shared our meal and had plenty to take home. Service was very friendly and helpful. Christian Singer did a great job and we met the owner and his family who were super friendly and bought us desserts. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I would highly recommend and my wife and I will be going back.

Google
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. We ordered several things to share in our group of 5. Sharing is recommended as many of the dishes are large portions. We ordered the charcuterie to start and then the roasted chicken, cornbread, butternut squash and I believe one more side I didn't remember. The chicken and squash were so delicious and my favorites. The only reason it isn't 5 stars across the board is that we felt rushed to leave. I understand they are busy and need tables but we hadn't paid the check more than a couple of minutes beforehand when we were asked to go for more people to come in.

Google
If you live in Utah Valley and haven’t been to Communal in Provo, fix that. This place is a gem. The food hits that sweet spot between creative and comforting, and everything feels fresh, seasonal, and made with intention. The pork chop and tenderloin is one of my favorites, and the surf & turf frites is worth the splurge. Sides like the carrot hummus and saffron pilaf are legit, and the butterscotch pudding is a must-order. It’s the kind of spot you bring friends to when you want to show off how good the food scene here can be. Love this place!

Google
Never disappoints! Amazing food and great service. I’ve taken a number of colleagues here and have recommended it to others and everyone loves it.

Yelp
My two daughters were in town for a wedding and were looking for somewhere to have breakfast near our Airbnb. Our host recommended Communal and after viewing the menu we were intrigued. My oldest daughter had the Funeral Potato Benedict, my younger daughter ordered the Shasuka, I had the dirty Brussels and we all ordered a mimosa. Everything was so delicious and beautiful. The service was nice and attentive without being too much. The restaurant is small and cozy.

Yelp
Communal is a Provo staple. While very small, it has a nice aesthetic, interesting concept, and tasty farm-to-table food. Downsides: Service has been pretty hit and miss when we've gone and I don't always feel like the price feels worth it compared to portion size. As a result, it's not usually my go-to spot, but fun to frequent on occasion--especially since they have a seasonal menu.

Yelp
A big fail on my part to not take photos of this place, but all the more reason to visit. The location feels home-ish, super comfortable and almost like a trendy spot you'd find in San Fran or NYC. The vibe was chill and the staff was amazing. As it says in the name, the food is communal or family style which was great for our party of 6 work colleagues. We started first with some apps, a watermelon and feta salad, blistered shistos and a charcuterie, which was a good example of how fresh and amazing the rest of the meal would be. We followed that up with the skirt steak, halibut and the pork schnitzel. All was good, but that pork was to die for. Juicy and tender but fried to perfection. SO so good. We also added the rice (simple and good but I am sure could be skipped) and the funeral potato dish. Do two of those. Maybe three.. so good. Lastly... but I should say most importantly. Do not leave Communal without having their butterscotch dessert. We ordered a few, but that butterscotch was perfect. It was light, sweet but not tacky, and so freaking good. An amazing dinner at a very special location in Provo!

Yelp
This place is amazing! The food and service are top-notch. The steak with onion rings was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. If you're in Provo, this is the perfect spot to enjoy dinner with co-workers or family. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This place was amazing! We are from out of town and walked in. They were able to accommodate our family no problems even though they were a little busy and we didn't have a reservation. We got the food and it was amazing! I would definitely go back!

Yelp
This is such a treat to dine here. The menu constantly changes based on what is available. Tonight we had the cherry Brussels sprouts. They were sweet, crispy and cooked perfectly. The ribeye steak melts in the mouth. I really liked the buttermilk mashed potatoes. The restaurant is a cozy place and does require a reservation even on weekdays. The staff are friendly and are happy to make recommendations. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants.

Yelp
We come from San Diego and we're road tripping him from Montana when we stopped in Provo for our half way point. We wanted dinner and cocktails. It was hard to find anything good with both but I came across this place and decided to give it a go. It was AMAZING. Such a good concept too to share things. We took our servers advice and got a starter, a protein, a starch and a veg and they were perfect for two. And every single thing was delicious. Service was wonderful. I don't remember our servers name but he was from Hawaii. He was great. Next time we pass through we will def go back.

Yelp
I had a party of two and we went there on a Tuesday evening. It was relatively busy as a small seating area, but they were able to fit us in without a reservation, but in the future, I definitely will make a reservation ahead ahead of time as it's limited seating and fairly popular especially if that's a Tuesday night I'm sure the weekend is busier, the servers were very friendly and the menu was creative and seasonal and seem to be extremely fresh. You can see the kitchen right on the other side of the bar. Everything happens there which is a great touch. It wasn't very loud but some background music and everything was extremely creative and enjoyable highly recommend.

Yelp
This seems to be a super popular location. About an hour wait when we walked in as a group of 2 on a Tuesday night. We made a reservation for the next day for 4 people and got to try their food. The ambience is nice. There's the sound of chatter, food being cooked, all typical restaurant vibes. I really liked the way the large table was set up. It's a long bar with the table tops on top so no bumping into table legs underneath the table. We ordered the housemade pasta which was beef stroganoff, cous cous risotto, the New York strip steak and the organic roasted herb chicken. I enjoyed the carbs more than the protein at this restaurant haha. The texture of the cous cous in the risotto was really pleasant. The flavor of the risotto was pretty mild, but definitely had me reaching for it more than once. The chicken was good but we had a hard time sharing it due to it being one piece. The steak was flavorful but we found it to be a little fatty and a bit chewier than our liking. I also ordered a house made drink. The lime drink I believe. So refreshing. I definitely wanted to order another one but held back haha. I would say it's a nice place to check out. Their menu does seem to change seasonally so I'd check their menu to see what they're offering for the day if you don't like surprises.

Yelp
This place was good. Definitely more pricey than most other places in town, but hands down the quality and freshness is great. Would go back.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! And the ambiance is nice. The food was super solid. Family style. Share plate style. I really like that. It's how I always eat at home so it has that feeling. But with great food.

Yelp
The pork schnitzel was amazing! Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and great wine selections .

Yelp
With a name like Communal, it's exactly what you think of, sharing a meal with those you go with. I really like this concept because it is a great way to try different items from the menu. Our server gave us recommendations on what a party of 2 should order, which turned out to be spot on. We ordered an entrée, side and dessert, which was plenty for the two of us. The food is well prepared and proportioned. Pro tip: order the Ginger Ale, it's so good! We found out that Communal is a rotating menu, and look forward to returning to try their new menu options. The aesthetic is rustic, modern and minimalist. Regarding seating, the tables are very close to each other (pretty much shoulder to shoulder). The couple next to us struck up a conversation to ask what we would recommend ordering. We ended up chatting with them throughout the night, which I found part of the experience and didn't mind. Communal is a great date night spot, which won't disappoint! We will be back.

Yelp
A great experience in Provo, food and service were phenomenal. I would recommend the seasonal watermelon salad, the pork belly and the schnitzel.

Yelp
Would do 4.5 stars if I could. Best restaurant in Utah county and a top 5 in Utah. Here is what we got: - crispy pig (4/5) - Brussels (5/5) - best app - crispy fingerling potatoes (3/5) - good not great - beets (3/5) not enough to share with 6 people. Good, not great but others in the group raved about them. - mole pork shoulder (3/5) - the mole is excellent, but the pork was dry - asparagus (3/5) Fantastic service and a vibe, as always.

Yelp
Communal is very tasty, but the kitchen is slow and the service is not attentive. I've been here twice in the past month for work lunches, and we always have to track down the single waiter to come take our order and bring our check. It usually takes at least half an hour between ordering and getting food. The food is good enough that we'll probably go back, but the service has been disappointing. It's also really loud in the main dining room.

Yelp
Got into late- very luck my to find this gem. We sat at the bar, it's always cool to watch the chefs cook. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant. Food tasted very very good. Love the open kitchen. Service was great. Overall a great experience

Yelp
The service here is awesome and the food comes out pretty quick. The food is very creative and delicious. Definitely recommend the pork belly and the falafel. We split the schnitzel between three but if it was just me I would get either the chicken or the halibut.

Yelp
It was my first time trying this place and we came for brunch. It had a nice atmosphere. It was in a fun location. We just got water to drink. We really wish there was ice in the water, it was just room temperature which I am not a fan of. We tried the tostada and the chorizo gravy and biscuits. Both were yummy and had good flavor.

Yelp
Decided to pop in while on a business trip in Provo... Right as they were opening up at 5 PM... I ended up sitting at the stone bar overlooking the kitchen, which was kind of cool... I ordered the pork shank and grill, zucchini... And I think it was pretty awesome, but my only gripe is that the pork shank was not at the temperature I would have one hour... It was more on the room temperature side... But it was still pretty awesome. Nice atmosphere/vibe.

Yelp
Super elegant, creative dishes. Small restaurant so reservations are a good idea, I think 3-4 bar seats. Bustling, open kitchen. They have their own parking lot and near street parking too. Impressed, will be back!

Yelp
Communal: 5/5. A local Provo staple! This family-style restaurant focuses on local and sustainable ingredients. I've been eating at Communal since 2016. I'm a huge fan of their brunch menu, and that's exactly what brought us here today. We started brunch with an order of home fries. They're always crispy, not greasy, and super yummy. These are a must! For our main course to share, we chose to go with French toast, biscuits, and gravy with sunny-side up eggs on top. The French toast was perfectly cooked, topped with a selection of berries, powdered sugar, and one of the best buttermilk syrups I've ever tasted. The biscuits and gravy were a pleasant surprise. I order these often when I come here, but the presentation is all new! Instead of four mini biscuits, you now get one big biscuit smothered in their delicious gravy. I personally feel like this new biscuit is more moist. The sunny-side-up eggs were cooked perfectly. Our server recommended we try the banana bread, and I'm so happy we decided to give it a try. It was moist and full of flavor. The mascarpone, candied pecans, and caramel sauce took this amazing treat to the next level. Overall, I had an amazing brunch experience at Communal. I need to come back ASAP, as their winter dinner menu looks phenomenal!

Yelp
INCREDIBLE! We were passing through Provo on the way to Zion from Midway and randomly found Communal. I checked out the menu and was instantly attracted to the sourdough skillet. Thank goodness that skillet drew us in because everything here was AMAZING! Asher was so cordial, really knowledgeable about the menu, so polite, and bright eyed; we really appreciated and loved his energy. The building appears to be historic (wooden floors), the space is small, quaint, and elegant but not formal, and the bathrooms are tiny and cute with washable/reusable hand towels :) We started with the citrus salad and the ratio of orange/blood orange to ricotta to arugula was perfect! Hefty on the toppings and not on the filler (arugula). The balsamic was not too tangy either. The sourdough pancake was crispy around the edges and soft and squishy in the center. The miso butter added the perfect umami to the sweetness of the pears. Mmmmmmmm mmmmmmm!!!! The bison patty melt was cooked medium rare according to chefs recommendation and it was delectable!!! The pastrami was not too spiced or salty, the Gruyère was just sharp enough, and the onions added a sweet flare. I saw others raving about the butterscotch pudding so I asked about it and Asher said it's a dinner menu item but they were willing to accommodate our request (woo hoo!). The butterscotch flavor was mild and the pudding was not gelatinous. My favorite part was the soggy Oreos on the bottom with the caramel flavor (I'm weird, I know). I would love to try Communal for dinner sometime. Highly recommend! Ask for Asher, he's amazing!

Yelp
This is a quaint and intimate restaurant in the heart of downtown Provo. I highly recommend making reservations for the best experience. We came the day after Valentines Day and they were busy but we never felt rushed. Service was friendly and delightful. I believe we had Devin. He was attentive and extremely helpful with suggestions. They update their menu every few months or so to ensure that we are receiving fresh seasonal products. It was suggested that we pick one item from each category. The dishes are served family style and they are brought out as they're cooked so everything was still hot and fresh. We ordered 4 dishes and had plenty of food for the two of us, even took some home! We ordered the Brussel sprouts, funeral potato croquette, roasted sweet potato, and porterhouse pork chop. The Brussels were so YUMMY and cooked perfectly. The sauce they were tossed in was wonderful. The potato croquette was good - definitely worth trying. The pork chop was flavorful, juicy and cooked to perfection. But the SHINING STAR on the table was the roasted sweet potato. The hot honey, miso, and sesame seeds were so harmonious with the sweet potato. We both agreed that this is a dish we will crave and dream about for years to come. Truly. I would come back solely for that dish. After all this food, why not have a little more?! There's always room for dessert! We ordered the butterscotch pudding. It had chocolate cookies, whipped cream and salted caramel. AMAZING. We ordered this with their French pressed coffee and it was the perfect end to a wonderful post V-Day dinner. We look forward to coming back to try the other dishes! You can tell they put heart into their menu and food. Great vibes all around here! Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant.

Yelp
Food was good, I expected better though. The steak was tasteless. The waiter was nice and attentive. The space is too small, and we ate around loud people which made dinner uneasy. This was my first and last time in this place.
google avatar

Myranda Lee S.

Yelp
This place is probably the best restaurants in Provo in this price range. We started off with the Smoked Salmon Panzanella and Citrus Salad--honestly such a great pairing to eat back to back. For the mains, we got the Fluffy Egg Madam and the Bison Patty Melt. I started first with trying the Patty Melt--wow, it was so delicious! I loved the rye bread they used! But the real stunner was the Fluffy Egg Madam!!!!!! The egg was truly the fluffiest egg I've ever had and the sauce they put on it was magical. Definitely don't pass on that one..

Yelp
I found myself in Utah county at lunchtime on a Saturday for a change and remembered this gem of a restaurant. It's a beautiful sunny space in a classic building. Kai was such a delightful presence and you should see their excitement about spam for breakfast! I couldn't agree more, because that's what I ordered. We just finished a sweaty hike, so the salty kimchi, spam and cucumber hit the spot. My friend got chilaquiles which were divine. We left feeling satisfied but not bursting at the seams. I'll need to find a reason to come back for dinner. My only gripe was the absence of drinks on the brunch menu. Even if not offering boozy options, the food is far too elevated for the casual "Pepsi products" reference. A previous review mentioning men in skinny "girl" jeans was a clue to me that this place is on point and I wasn't wrong.
google avatar

Teralea M.

Yelp
Bright cozy spot with good food and friendly staff. The menu is a little hit & miss. Utah style scones (aka fried bread) would have been great except for the execution. Ours was VERY over cooked, and while they offered to remake it since they knew it was overcooked, that quality check should have happened before it left the kitchen. The chicken pesto BLT with an upgrade from chips to fries was a hit! Crispy fries, perfectly toasted bread, fresh veg, and chicken & bacon cooked to perfection. After reading the description of the funeral potatoes waffle, I had to try that! Alas, it was just a waffle that has an artificial taste, mushy texture, and was drowning in sauce. They should burry that one. With a price tag of $60 for 1 app and 2 entrees, I'd hoped for more consistency and quality. Booking a reservation online was very easy and our waiter was pleasant.
google avatar

Andrea D.

Yelp
Out of towners from LA, and we always have the make the stop to Communal for some of the yummiest food ever. Great vibes - ask for Kai as your server. He's the absolute best. Can't go wrong here! Always a great night every time we come!

Yelp
We ate there for the first time a few weeks ago. The food, the ambience, and the service were all great! I'd totally eat there again and I know that the rest

Yelp
Utah!! You have done me well. Communal is such a gem. Walking in I loved how it gave me the sense of a private chef experience. It's not a large place but it's just perfect for an intimate dinner with friends. I came in on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty packed. The ambiance was settling. I liked that. Asher was our waited and his service didn't fall short anywhere. He became a part of my wonderful experience by not only being courtesy but his hospitality felt like we were guest in his home. As soon as I took a look at the menu, I couldn't help but want everything and we did. We couldn't help it. Every dish described on that menu was enticing. Too enticing for us not to try and I'm so glad we did. I'll start off with the fresh hot rolls that were brought to the table immediately. They were perfection. I love a starter of bread. Especially, got out of the oven. It always tells me I'm getting an experience. Someone thought of me when they created this dining experience. Give me all the bread!! Brussels - I love me some Brussels sprouts and even more so when they are tossed in bacon! Here's the kicker I thought I tasted pomegranate seeds and baby... it sent the dish to another level. DELICIOUS Charcuterie- I love love love when I see a charcuterie board in the menu. It gives... I'm fancy. Everything was fresh and delicious. Pork Chop - The pork chop was not the star for me, however, it doesn't take away from the dish. I think this came down to personal preference because everyone at the table seemed to enjoy it. I loved how it was served with kimchi. That was different and I found it enjoyable. Roasted Beets - I'm not sure these are the roasted beets but what I do know is they were made with love. They were perfection. Sweet and savory with a little kick. I truly enjoyed this dish. Squash - I don't think I got to try this dish. But it was gone by the end of the night so I'll leave you to interpretation Raviolis - listen here... listen here! This was my favorite dish. I wanted the plate to myself. It was heaven served up on a platter. Chefs kiss Chorizo Corn Bread Dressing - LOVED LOVED LOVED. This mixed with the damn sweet potato brought me back home to Sunday dinners. My taste buds were happy and I couldn't stop dancing in my chair. This dish made me extremely happy. Pork Belly - This right here... this dish right here... was thanging. The tangy sauce on top didn't take away from the crispy outer skin and the silky inside. Baby!! That pork had no chance. We demolished it. Sweet potato- DELICIOUS! Okay, whatever butter they serve with this puts it over the top. By the time I had one bit I went for a second one and almost took out the entire jar of butter. So damn good Chicken and dumplings - the chicken was juicy and tender. Super flavorful. I didn't care for the dumplings. But that comes down to personal preference. Overall, I see this place as quality. Elegant. But also Home. Not only was the experience a gift, the service was full of love and the food was a big hug from your grandma who knows how to throw down on the kitchen. This place made me happy . Truly great experience.

Yelp
I tried communal for the first time today for brunch. I loved the cute little restaurant that reminded me of a friends kitchen. There weren't very many tables and there were a lot of little tables scrunched together in the middle of the restaurant. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. I just drank water but wished it had ice. I ordered the breakfast tostada that came with eggs, beans, salsa and crema on crunchy tortillas. I enjoyed my meal but wished wanted some hot sauce for it to add more flavor. I also tried the chorizo biscuits and gravy and the biscuit was as big as the plate. I wished there was more chorizo in the dish because it was mostly biscuit. It also needed some salt. There were many things on the menu I will have to come back and try and I would like to try the dinner menu as well.

Yelp
Communal is a special occasion restaurant for us. We generally go once a year for our wedding anniversary and it has never disappointed. We always end our evening sharing the butterscotch pudding. Sooo good! This year we were out of town in August so we went for my birthday in September as a group of 6. Once again flavorful, delicious food. No one was disappointed. The beef was seasoned nicely and very tender, the pork dish was the hit of the night as well as the watermelon salad. The service was attentive and friendly. We all left very satisfied.

Yelp
This place has been on my list of places to try whenever we came into town. Pricey for Provo, Utah. The food was good, although we didn't think it met the raves in the reviews. We were a group of four and ordered Chicken, steak, fingerling potatoes, carrots and asparagus. We finished the meal with the butterscotch pudding. The server told us this was their signature dessert. The vegetables were good. We particularly loved the carrots. The chicken was difficult to share. I would suggest that this would be cut again for easier communal eating. The flank steak was tough to eat. That was disappointing. What was so annoying was another server. We had just finished our meal and signed the credit card slips. A woman came in and asked if there was a table as she had no reservation. He stood right by our table, we were by the front door, and told her looking at us to give him 15 minutes. They should be gone by then. We literally had just finished signing the credit card slip. He then repeated it again. We were not planning on lingering, but to feel pressured to scoot out didn't add to the experience

George L.

Yelp
Communal is a disgrace to the restaurant industry - especially when it claims to be a fine dining location. Our party of four was seated at a table with mismatched dishes, glasses and cutlery - a precursor of bad things to come. We ordered appetizers, entrees, side dishes and dessert. Part of Communal's schtick is that their overpriced entrees can be shared - not even remotely true. We were served lukewarm entrees clearly sized for one person. The service was agonizingly slow. We were still eating dessert when the manager approached and asked us to leave because he had another party waiting for our table. He was rude, arrogant and condescending. We had been seated for one hour and fifteen minutes and were still eating at the time. What was supposed to be an anniversary celebration turned into our worst dining experience ever. Food is poor quality and overpriced, the restaurant is filthy, and the manager belongs in another line of work. Please, save your money and avoid Communal!

Yelp
The food is great here! Be mindful of the top of the menu where it shows that each item is big enough to be shared (about two servings per item, unless you're a hungry bear). The waiter was very helpful, polite and knowledgeable on the menu, and his recommendations were also detailed. He also explained that there are some items on the menu that change every few months, so we will be looking in a few months to see if there is something else on there that we would like to try. The only reason I'm knocking it down a star is because as soon as you come in, there are t any signs or anyone there to direct you on seating or to check you in for your reservation. It wasn't until we moved further into the restaurant, past some dining tables, that someone asked us for our reservation before seating us.

Yelp
Heard so many good things about this place from foodie friends and it did not disappoint! This is a true farm-to-table dining experience! Loved the ambiance: small, exclusive, quaint, and just lovely. We were warmly greeted by the host, and seated at the best table there was (we did have reservations on a Saturday night). Our server was personable and just really down to earth, heard his recommendations and they were spot on. Ordered the meat and cheese platter for starters. The steak was probably one of the best steaks we've had in a while. The trout dish was lovely - slight crisp on the skin side and soft and flaky on the top. Normally I do not like to consume fish skin, but it was slightly crispy and had so much flavor that I did not mind it and cleaned the plate! The chorizo cornbread dish was to die for and was a fantastic choice. Overall, it was a wonderful first-time experience! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Cozy restaurant with a simple menu full of deliciousness. I took a lovely scenic drive from Salt Lake City to Provo. When I entered Provo I searched for restaurants and this one popped up. From the outside the restaurant appears closed. Dark curtains block out the late day sun. Upon entering I was greeted immediately and sat at the bar overlooking the small kitchen. The food is pricy - each item is ordered separately. $33 for trout, $13 for squash. I think $50+ for a steak - But it was well worth it. I was offered two crisp dinner rolls and butter - a great start after a full day of travel. I enjoyed the bread while reviewing the menu and watching the chef and soups chef at work. Though the pasta was recommended I could tell the trout and steak were being cooked perfectly. I started my meal with pork belly and grilled peaches. Crispy and slightly tart mix topped with a citrus oil. Yum. Next I had the trout - pan fried and served with a mild harissa - and a fascinating condensed cucumber topping that I can't wait to make at home. I had squash to accompany the trout. Grilled and topped with crushed walnuts and basil leaves - unique combination that worked exceptionally well with the trout. Completely full I opted for a dessert to go which I am nibbling on now. Carrot cake with mascarpone cheese icing and a pineapple compote layer. Great way to start a short trip in Utah. Only thing I might suggest to the staff - take away the initial plate. Not really needed unless sharing.

Yelp
I was recently in Provo for a layover and walked over to Communal, I love the vibe in there. For a Monday night it was rather busy. I popped in for dessert and ordered a togo butterscotch pudding, it was delicious. However, if you're lactose intolerant, you WILL suffer!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant even though I went on the worst date of my whole entire collective life here and I swear I wanted to die where I stood. Only highlight was the cozy/modern ambiance, delicious food, helpful service, and the fact that the staff was giving my date the judgmental looks he deserved. Also the bathroom was nice, hid in there for a bit

Yelp
Really great locally sourced food and a chef curated menu. One of my favorite places for brunch, but the parking and somewhat small dining room can be challenging so plan ahead.

Yelp
I believe this is our fourth visit in our 18 months living in Utah. Twice we brought guests and we have loved it every time. People tried to discourage us because of the price, but we are from San Francisco, so the quality here makes it worth it. The desserts are great and unique as well. While we got in, luckily, the first time without a reservation and sat at the counter, I would not go without a reservation. It has always been a full house.

Yelp
This place has very delicious food, the service was also amazing! Our server was kind a patient in our first visit here, he offered suggestions based off our interest. We left feeling full and satisfied with the money spent.

Yelp
I'm just sad it took me so long to try this place. Everything is so elegant here, from the ambiance to the food, absolutely remarkable. When we arrived a few minutes early of our 5 pm reservation, we walked in on the entire staff all eating together, it was seriously the sweetest thing I've ever encountered at a restaurant. What a warm welcome. The free little bread rolls with soft creamy butter was the perfect start of the meal. The Brussels sprouts are amazing with that confit garlic aioli, and the pomegranate molasses gave it the perfect sweetness. Spring lake trout, so buttery soft and flakey, delish. The roasted organic chicken was so tender, perfectly cooked with so much flavor. Barley risotto with mushrooms, excellent. Roasted cauliflower with romesco sauce was incredible. Maple roasted squash, I die, this was so flavorful and scrumptious, we loved it! Roasted sweet potato- so good with the candied pecans Harissa roasted carrots- oh my goodness, so good with the tahini, roasted perfectly. ..and for dessert, the butterscotch pudding, yes, worth it! My only criticism is that your in Provo, and not in Holladay, or Salt Lake. How do we get you to open a second location?

Yelp
Amazing food and experience. I loved the ribeye, very unique flavor and world class texture. When I saw the chef pulling one out of the broiler simmering enticingly, I knew what I wanted to order. My favorite side is the squash and or the cauliflower. Satisfied my sweet tooth with the butterscotch pudding parfait kajigger and was floored. Best desert I've had in a hot minute. Ambiance was lively and energetic, nothing like an open kitchen!

Yelp
We came here for our Valentines date (we celebrated early to avoid the crowds), and we loved every minute! They seated us with a beautiful view of the Provo City Center temple. Make sure to make a reservation for a table on weekend nights--it gets busy! The homemade rolls tasted TRULY homemade, the charcuterie was a great way to start the meal, the roasted chicken was perfectly cooked and flavorful, the garlic mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious, and the maple roasted squash tasted and looked honestly Master-Chef-level-good. The staff were all extremely kind, efficient and accommodating. A perfect, romantic, date night spot in Provo.
