Commune in Avondale Estates is a cozy wine bar and listening room, blending retro charm with a curated wine list and immersive music for a perfect night out.
"Commune is a listening room and wine bar at Olive and Pine in Avondale Estates. The brainchild of Zopi Kristjanson and DJ Chris Devoe, the bar serves a tight menu and consistently evolving wine list (helmed by Empire State South’s former sommelier, Steven Grubbs). Wines are the star here, but food isn’t forgotten. Its menu swings from light and fresh caviar and oysters to heartier mains like mushroom spaghetti, half-roasted chicken, and Gulf red snapper. The deep-house, indie music keeps the vibes flowing as you tuck into dessert — a newly launched menu with Basque cheesecake and a vanilla custard tart paired with sweet wines. In addition to rare wine selects, it is one of the only bars in Atlanta serving locally-made Georgia wine by Crane Creek Vineyards. Commune was the 2024 Eater Atlanta Awards winner for the Best New Wine Bar." - Beth McKibben, Henna Bakshi
"A cozy bar nestled behind a set of velvet curtains, Commune may be one of Atlanta’s best listening lounges. Beyond the curated wine list and snacks, the menu offers several zero-proof drinks worth trying. While the St. Agrestis Phony Negroni is a more than convincing riff (you won’t even notice the lack of a buzz), the staff recommends the Tilden Lacewing with its sweeter herbaceous notes." - Laura Scholz, Molly Harris
"Want wine, lo-fi records, and retro vibes for a date night? Atlanta’s newest listening bar is the place to go. Commune is a wine bar and listening room in Avondale Estates. What is a listening room, you might ask? It’s a national trend, where bars play records and playlists of deep cut underground music. And now, Atlanta has its own spot. Commune, brainchild of Zopi Kristjanson and DJ Chris Devoe, opened at Olive and Pine in Avondale Estates. Some of the listening events lineup include a celebration of Prince and the Minneapolis sound, underground 60s soul, rock ‘n’ roll and honky tonk country gold. Empire State South’s former sommelier, Steven Grubbs is behind the wine list, and a small menu is available for bar bites." - Eater Staff

"This loungy new listening room in Avondale Estates is a total vibe. The walls are painted blue, and matching blue velvet chairs surround the brown leather, cognac-colored booths. The bar has tiled mosaics on the front, and patterned quilts line the walls, accompanied by vintage artwork and a library of old records. Commune is a hip spot to hang out and admire the decor, which is funky and fun." - Beth McKibben, Eater Staff
