"Filled with greenery, the stark-white dining room at Comune feels straight out of a Scandinavian design catalog. It’s always a solid choice for a date night, and the plant-based menu is a pretty big departure from traditionally meat-heavy Midwestern restaurants. Dishes are always rotating in and out, but expect things like sunchoke bisque drizzled over cabbage, breaded lion's mane mushroom, or a ten-layer lasagna packed with mushroom bolognese There’s a standout list of natural wines, along with creative cocktail options like a butternut whiskey sour mixed or orange-infused pisco mixed with chai spice and Aperol." - Erin Edwards

"Columbus contains multitudes—both Wendy’s and White Castle were founded here, but so was the excellent plant-based, fine-dining spot Comune. “I don’t feel like I’m in Columbus,” is a common sentiment heard around the intimate bar and dining room that feels straight out of a Scandinavian design catalog. It’s always a solid choice for date night, and the menu is a pretty big departure from traditionally meat-heavy Midwestern restaurants, instead focusing on seasonal dishes like a summertime watermelon carpaccio and a peach-cucumber salad bathed in green goddess dressing. Luckily for us though, the housemade pita with dips and the perfectly crispy tahdig never leave the menu. They also have a great list of natural wines, along with cocktail options like the effervescent O Sweet Spontaneous with vanilla-infused gin, rhum agricole, pineapple, and bubbly." - Erin Edwards

"With a stark white interior that’s cool without being cold, the plant-based Comune has been humming since the day it opened. It’s a place where omnivores and vegans dine in harmony with smart, artfully plated vegetarian dishes designed to share and then wash it all down with organic wines. Chef Ben Kanavel (the Worthington Inn, Alana’s Food and Wine) prepares memorable dishes like semolina pappardelle with a savory walnut-maitake bolognese, roasted acorn squash with lentil dal bathed in an herb jus, and crispy fried kimchi rice topped with a soft-boiled egg." - Beth Stallings

Google
This has to be one of the best spots in Columbus. I try to go at least once per season to taste the rotating menu and I'm never disappointed. Cocktails are also on point. Photo dump from a multitude of meals (yes we get the bread and spread every time. It's a must)

We had food here and it was amazing! Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. The place has a calm, beautiful vibe.. We sat outdoors and it was really nice to sit and enjoy a meal. It is a bit pricey, but totally worth it for the quality and experience. The staff was kind and service was great. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Lovely spot with lots of plants to match their green aesthetic. An abundance of vegetarian and vegan options. Seasonal menu. We had the autumn menu, and it was delicious. Good wine and beer options! It was pricey, but we got what we paid for in the delicious food and wonderful service. We will be back next time we travel through Columbus.

We did a full evening buyout of Comune for our wedding reception on a Saturday in October 2023. This was the best planning decision we could have made. Comune rearranged the restaurant, created a custom nine-course menu, and hosted a cocktail hour on their patio as well. The manager Andrea was so helpful and we felt completely confident having her set the menu and drink list, which was well-rewarded. The staff was wonderful, e.g. they were going up to guests to offer to replace drinks during our cocktail hour. They even made us a blackberry lemon cake as a surprise since we didn’t have a cake. The food was so good, and we kept hearing about this from our guests. The restaurant is so pretty anyway, we loved the light and we just brought in some of our own flowers. We don’t miss dancing and wanted to spend all night talking with our guests so this was perfect for us. The price was very reasonable and a steal compared to wedding prices. If you don’t want to stress about chairs and printing menus and just want to eat great food with people you love I can’t recommend this restaurant more for any event. Edit: updated with more photos!

Google
Our party of three really appreciated the pleasant venue and excellent service. The menu choices were exceptional and varied. Small shared plates, “bread and spread” and “caramelized onion and fig tartine “ were excellent. First guest very happy with the Savoy cabbage”. Second guest loved the “brown butter roasted squash “. Third guest thought the “breaded lion’s mane mushroom” was over cooked but the sides excellent. Most of my pictures didn’t come out well except the brown butter butternut squash and our two shared desserts: coconut semifreddo and figgy toffee pudding. Definitely eat at Comune.

Google
Just wow. What a delicious tour of how good a vegetable forward menu can be. Each dish had an explosion of flavor and the thoughtfulness put into the dish really comes though in the taste. Really blown away. Service was great and vibe is very trendy/cool. Nice small bar in the main area too.

Google
The food is truly good, but the prices are way too high. It felt like I paid for a complete dinner and only got the sides.

Google
Delightful experience at Comune during our stay in Columbus. Wanted something a bit fancy for a date night meal before a show. This restaurant is exactly what we had in mind. The dishes offered are unique and contain very fresh ingredients. Its obvious the staff care about the customers and whether or not you're enjoying your stay and the meal. Highly recommend trying a NA cocktail. The chilled glasses were a bonus!

Yelp
@comune_restaurant , the upscale vegetarian restaurant doesn't disappoint. We had their bread and spread. rice dish, their split peas and roasted cauliflower and their chocolate cheese cake. Names are all wrong of course because , well , I don't know French or high cuisine language all vegan of course. The only disappointing thing about this restaurant is why they have not embraced veganism ? It's so good !

Yelp
Hands down, the worst dining experience I had in Columbus. We started off our meal with appetizers: the flatbread and tartine. Both dishes we did enjoy, but upon further reflection we also found them underwhelming given the restaurant's reputation. For entrees, we ordered the crispy rice and breaded lion mane mushrooms to split since we don't often fry things at home. The crispy rice was under seasoned and had a mushy texture, which made the whole experience unpleasant. My least favorite dish was the lion mane, the dish tasted overly dry and could have benefited from having the side greens dressed more with vinaigrette. As someone who grew up with vegetarian cooks in the family, I'm used to having meatless meals. However, our meal here felt weirdly incomplete. Overall, based on the price point and highly rated reviews, Commune was disappointing. We thought the breads were tasty and a promising start to our meal, but everything following failed to hold up. Service was also questionable. Near the end of our meal, we struggled to pay the bill with our server walking past our table multiple times to the point we got the impression they were ignoring us.

Yelp
Executive summary: Amazing, creative, and delicious food with comically small portions. This is a great place to go for snacking, or when you''re a little hungry, or for an appetizer. Even the full portions here are quite small. Having said that, I did appreciate the dark ambiance, friendly service, and the wildly creative takes on food. You'll definitely eat things here you've never had before anywhere else. This is a great spot if you're an adventurous eater. Really solid, curated selection of cocktails/beers/wines too!

Yelp
Was nice to see a fancy like vegan place in Columbus. I wanted to come here my last visit in Columbus but for got to so i made sure i stopped by before i left. It was a Wednesday night and it wasn't as busy in there i think it was just us and two other parties. So it was nice and quiet. The inside was very simple but cute . The staff was nice and mad good suggestions. I will say if you just order one thing you won't get full off it so i would suggest getting starters as well. The food was really fresh. It was good but i was still hungry

Yelp
This place is EXCEPTIONAL!! The ambience is super romantic and cozy. The service feels very individualized. The food is worth every penny. There is one bread dish that we ordered that was so good! I forgot the name but it was so dammmm good we ordered two of them I think it's made with shio koji which makes it so unique. You can't go wrong with whatever you order!!

Yelp
Comune is a restaurant experience that is very unique in Columbus. I loved the creativity of the menu and how they were doing things I have not seen offered elsewhere. All of the menu is vegetarian, with some vegan options. Service was so nice. Attentive but not rushed. The dining room is filled with healthy plants and natural light. Someone is taking great care of those plants! They have a small bar seating area and a lovely outdoor patio. The menu is fairly small with the majority of it being appetizer offerings. We decided that the "small" plates are really where they shine. Halloumi was one the best plates of food I have ever had. The sharpness of the cheese with the sweetness from the apple salad was a perfect combo. I do think the kitchen has a slightly heavy hand with the salt and the mushroom paprikash entree was way over salted. They change the menu up regularly with seasonal offerings. I look forward to returning for another food adventure.

Yelp
Back at Comune and wow their fall menu is sooo good!!! My friend and I just sampled a bunch of shareables and then got a dessert at the end. * Bread & Spread - warm naan with a beet spread, baba ganaush, and apricot squash spread. All were delicious * Halloumi - tasted like apple pie! Insanely good. * Crispy Rice - yummy and herby - I loved the addition of peperoncini *Celery Root Croquettes - Loved the crunchy outer texture and the sauce it came with was fire * Pumpkin Cheesecake- Decadent and flavorful! 5/5 stars!!!

Yelp
As a carnivore I went to a purely out of love for my cousin but left smitten! The experience was peaceful, beautiful and delicious! Tips for me was the wild mushrooms with sofrito rice. Definitely did not expect to see sofrito rice on a menu here! The brown butter hollandaise was perfection. For dessert the chocolate tart was everything one should be: a firm, deep and dark, blanket of chocolate that you can just wrap yourself up into with accompaniments I would have never considered: a Sauvignon Gris with caramel and porcini cocoa dust. Washed down with amaro nonini. The service was also amazing, and the vibe cozy and intimate.

Yelp
I'm just blown away every time I visit comune. It's probably my favorite restaurant in Columbus. I brought my boyfriend for his first time. I'm vegetarian and gluten free, he's not, but he loved it too. I love that it's a small space, lots of plants, and servers are always so helpful. They are quick to explain things from the menu that can seem overwhelming. I've never had a bad meal here. This visit I started with the desert melange cocktail, a nice mixture of spicy and sweet. Since my bf has never been, we are still went with two appetizers: the tahdig and the seared halloumi. He still says "that rice dish (the tahdig) changed my whole outlook on things". Lol, I'm not sure what that means, but it's a good thing. The halloumi was delish too- loved the pairing with the roasted peppers. At first the plan was as to share a main dish, but he was so happy with the apps that he decided to get his own meal. There's always a nice mushroom option at comune, and I loved the mushroom confit. He got the grilled summer squash dish and of course thought it was great. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but we'll be back of course.

Yelp
the service was soooooo kind and helpful, big fan of them and am grateful for how kind the servers were. genuine highlight of the night, were able to explain and answer all our questions, and checked in on us regularly: I've heard a lot of positive things about comune and was looking forward to trying it! we tried 6 different plates and 2 desserts, between 4 people. In every bite there was a variety of flavors. my favorite part by far was the bread we ordered pantry love, butter and radishes, chawanmushi, bread and spread, rigatoni, wild mushroom crispy rice, rhubarb sorbet and a chocolate tarte.. unfortunately, the food was not very filling. it was expensive. on one hand, I get it, there's a lot of delicate and expensive flavors, on the other hand when I spend $60 on a meal I expect it to be satisfying. The drink was delicious and the desserts were refreshing and delightful, I just wish the rest of the meal matched that energy. I am told the menu used to be split up into appetizers, entrees and desserts but now all dishes were in a list together which makes it more confusing to me as to portion sizes. the food itself was extremely rich. If you aren't used to that cuisine, take it slow, because I felt very nauseous afterwards, even though I wasn't full from the food I ate. I wasn't impressed, but perhaps I'll like another season's menu.

Erin H.

Yelp
Great ambiance and very high quality food. Vegetarian fine dining. Plates are $16-$30 each and portions are fairly small. It's meant for sharing, and I think they recommend like 2 plates per person. Went with two other friends and ordered 6 plates, and we finished them all very easily. Great flavors and love that they use in season produce. Great labeling of allergens as well. Most plates can be made vegan on request. This would be a great location for a nice date night; it's a little too pricey and not filling enough to go super regularly. Staff were super nice, and food came out fast!

Yelp
EAT HERE!!! I was so amazed by my dining experience here. I have never been to a vegetarian restaurant before. IT WAS GREAT! First of all, order the Oaxaca Colada. It is divine! Sooooooo easy to drink and tastes amazing We ordered the ricotta custard, which I was secretly worried about bc I don't love ricotta (or so I thought)... and it was my favorite dish. So creamy, it melted in my mouth. The flavors in that dish are the perfect match. The top sort of has a tangy tasting sauce... I hate sauce. I LOVED this one. The brown butter oyster mushrooms were really great as well! And the breads and spreads were yummy too. The mushroom spread was my favorite one... the others were fine. My friend got the glazed veggies and was underwhelmed. I didn't try it but it did look nice and vegetably lol. For dessert we got the dark chocolate cremeaux and we didn't love but the ricotta cheesecake was great! Would eat that again! Excited to go back and try dishes that we didn't order and especially excited to see what the next menu update will be!

Jennifer A S.

Yelp
Went again and it was spectacular! The service was spot on even when busy. The food and wine is a feast for the senses. Honestly- its one of the most compelling btg wine lists in the city- thanks for keeping that interesting!

Paul W.

Yelp
We sat outside on their patio and enjoyed a great meal and fun cocktails. The sunchokes were fried and almost resembled potatoes. I like this dish but the fried aspect was a little heavy for me. The strawberry and Beat salad was fantastic. The items sat on a delicate tzatziki sauce and were topped with fresh mint which sent this dish "Out of this World " for me. So refreshing and flavorful and perfectly composed. We finished the evening with their featured home made pasta which was fantastic as well. Choose a couple of their specialty cocktails. Helpful advice make a reservation, sit outside and enjoy. There were 3 of us in our party and we ordered 3 starters and 1 main dish all of which were shared and more than enough for everyone.

Sujal M.

Yelp
I've lived in German Village for a while but had not been to Comune, yet. I think I was just waiting for someone to go with, who could enjoy it as well. Enter, my vegan partner. We went for dinner and started out with the potatoes. For the entrees, we had the glazed vegetables and their spring pasta. For desert, we had the chocolate on top of the almond cake with strawberries and coconut whip. With one appetizer, one cocktail, two entrees, and one dessert- the total was $100, excluding tip. I would say that the food tasted great. Beautifully presented, and every bite just packed with flavor. But it's fine dining for me- had to be careful not to eat too quickly. The ambiance is really nice. White painted brick walls, plants, nice lighting. You have your customary bartender with the hipster mustache and sleeve tattoos. This is definitely not a place to go on a weekly basis. Because it's god darn expensive. But, for special occasions or with your loved one- for sure.

Suchita S.

Yelp
We went for a special occasion midweek. The service was efficient and present. I did find that sometimes the waitress would ask how the dishes were soon after they were delivered so it this awkward "oh it's good" while we are chewing our first bite. We were there for the spring menu. We ordered the chawanmushi, celery root and the wild mushroom courses. I would say out of the three the chawanmushi was the best. If had the perfect texture offset by the favs beans and the dressing on top was well seasoned and had a little heat which was nice to counterpoint the richness of the custard. The celery root dish was alright. I sauce was the best part of it but found the flavor of the celery root to be too overpowering. I wonder if a different vegetable would be better or a braised tofu? My partner felt the celery root was undercooked. But didn't necessarily feel that way and it was more of a firmer texture for texture purposes. The wild mushroom course was the biggest disappointment. The description highlights different types of mushrooms like morels and chanterelles. Unfortunately the dish comes to the table and it's a plate of chewy rice which the predominant flavor of red pepper. This was topped with the nondescript mushrooms and coated in sauces. The sauce once again is delicious but you can't tell what type of mushroom you are eating because it is draped in sauce and the rice flavor comes across as red bell pepper. So although it's advertised as a mushroom forward dish, the mushrooms only provide a little bit of texture. The different flavors of the chanterelles and morels have no chance of overcoming red bell peppers and hollandaise We also tried the choux pastry. There was a description of strawberry on the menu, this just appeared to be freeze dried powdered strawberries dusted on top. It didn't really impart any flavor. The choux itself was nice, there were some burnt notes that I didn't mind but I'm not sure if it was intentional. The crème diplomat had a good flavor and texture. I would say the highlights of comune are the seasonal drinks. My partner had a Sakura sour which looked gorgeous. I don't like whiskey but found this drink to be tasty. I ordered the strawberry rhubarb Collins. This was zippy and refreshing. Seriously delicious. The space is fairly small so I would recommend reservations if you are going st a busier time. I love the plants and the clean white juxtaposed with the foliage. It was a little cramped when it was busier.

Yelp
Wow, I was blown away by how amazing the food here! I love eating meat & seafood, but it is also nice to experience a big spread of meatless dishes from time to time. We ordered almost everything from their summer menu. They all smelled so good as soon as our server brought them to the table, and they tasted so vibrant! Overall, I loved the different layers of the textures, well-balanced flavors, and beautiful presentation. It was so hard for me to pick my top favorites cz I really enjoyed all of them~ e.g. the watermelon texture was fantastic, the bread was so fluffy and chewy, the beets were delicious... The space was very clean and bright~ I liked the restaurant vibes and decorations~ they also have a lovely outdoor patio! I am looking forward to the autumn menu already!

Kelsey P.

Yelp
Comune is a really special place. The bright, airy, beautiful interior is enough to set it apart and then you include the delicious cocktails and food? Forget it, this place is incredible. We ordered several items from the menu to share and I had a bite of everything. Each dish was so tasty and rich. I had two cocktails during our dinner - a garden martini and an espresso martini. The espresso martini was yummy and what set it apart from others I've had before were the pumpkin seeds on top - fun! Unfortunately, I really did not feel well after this dinner, though. But honestly, I think it was my fault (it just seems weird to not mention it). If you're not used to rich vegetarian and vegan food, maybe go easy here. The two people I ate with were completely fine, and they eat vegetarian food often. I'd certainly go back, given the chance, but I'd take it easy for my sensitive stomach's sake.

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant. The food selection. Vegetarian!Get there. Best service we've ever experienced!

E P.

Yelp
One of my favorite meals of the year and one of the best vegetarian meals I've ever had. Every dish was excellent but I think the haloumi was the most pleasant surprise. Each dish was packed with flavor and, even better, texture. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive.

Randy R.

Yelp
We had high expectations for this place, but sadly it didn't meet the standards. We had plenty of vegan food from great vegan restaurants, this wasn't one of them. The food was very expensive for a low quantity, we were served warm tap water and it had a terrible aftertaste. Our bill came up to 50 some dollars for some bread and cold eggs. Disappointed, shaking my head.

Eddie D.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had a lovely birthday dinner here. We loved that it was cozy and intimate, with indoor plants everywhere. The service was great as well. I remembered the pita being outstanding and the rest of our dishes being delicious as well.

J B.

Yelp
I had high expectations coming here and they were exceeded. Very flavorful! Too many restaurants are cautious about flavor but Comune really goes for it. This does mean you may be better off going with a group comfortable sharing so if something is too sour, spicy, etc., someone else at your table will like it if you don't. Some subtle flavors here are impressive too! Everything is medium sized (kind of like proper Spanish tapas) which is really fun--esp for sharing. Beware the servers may recommend ordering A LOT of food. If you are drinking, three choices for two should be plenty to start and likely enough total--then order 1-2 more only if you are still hungry. Tables can be small so they can't serve you more than 1-2 dishes at a time anyway. If you cook veg food at home there are so many ideas to play with from here. I'm going to try to make quick carrot pickles, cook with crispy rice, and celeriac at home in the coming months now too. Sometimes I'll only discover 1-2 techniques or dishes I want to make at home PER YEAR eating out so to be inspired by three different things in a single meal is wonderful. I almost never go places that can cost $50-$75 per person but this is absolutely worth it. So so good!

Keith B.

Yelp
I was here a few years back and my experience was not memorable and I don't remember being excited about the menu or over the moon about the food. I am glad I came back as it seems like I was at a much different restaurant. I love the dim lighting and more intimate setting. The food was delightful. I enjoyed the gnocchi dish. I was impressed by the flavors and variety. Loved the different textures. It is best to try a few dishes here and share with your friends. Make a reservation online it is quite easy to do.

Maigen R.

Yelp
I was absolutely blown away!!!!!! The food was incredible and I cannot stop thinking about the crispy rice!!!!! I wish I took photos of all that we tried but I feel you cannot go wrong with whatever you pick. The atmosphere was everything and the service was wonderful. 11/10 recommend.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Comune ever since I saw that Columbus Underground rated it the best restaurant in Columbus! Comune is an upscale plant-based restaurant. Here's what we got (descriptions taken from menu): 〰 Chopped Salad: seasonal vegetables, preserved lemon vinaigrette, croutons, woodruff farm's cheese. This was my favorite thing that we tried, would definitely get again! My favorite thing in the salad was the buttery, crispy croutons. 〰 Tahdig: crispy saffron rice, salt-roasted beets, amba tahina, pistachio, black lime. This dish was ok but not my personal favorite. 〰 Bread & Spread: house-made koji pita served with 3 rotating seasonal spreads. I loved trying the different spreads. My favorite was the spinach pesto spread. 〰 Potato Gnocchi: porcini + cremini mushroom ragu, lacinato kale, crispy potato, ricotta. I found myself longing for some more flavor in this dish. Not my personal favorite. Overall, Comune has a modern and clean feel inside. It is dimly lit, which provides a cozy atmosphere. The interior of the restaurant was smaller than what I was expecting, however, it added to the intimate feel to the restaurant. It is a more upscale restaurant, which comes with higher prices. I liked the food, but was not blown away by it. One downside was that parking was a little tricky- it is street parking only.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner with a friend this week. Parking was pretty easy -- street parking is closest. I think depending on the time you come it could get worse. We left around 6:30 and the street was packed. The space is beautiful. The staff was kind and caring. The food was excellent. The price point is the only thing I wasn't crazy about. It makes sense to have higher costs if using organic or local ingredients, and for more thoughtful dishes -- some items still felt a bit expensive to me. Taste was all good as I said ... i had the crispy rice which was VERY filling. I also ordered dessert -- the chocolate cake on their menu right now is FIRE. So good. And honestly its a generous slice. For cocktails I went with the honey i'm home which was a tequila drink. It was pretty good -- for a $12 craft cocktail I think it was a bit more sugary (not balanced). I'd return, but definitely only for a more special meal!

Yelp
I was super excited to come to Comune after it has been on my to-do list for so long. I came with coworkers one evening to try the Spring 2023 menu, and was not disappointed by anything about the experience. When you walk in, it's actually a bit more of a casual vibe than you would expect from the elevated food. It felt open and minimalist, with a touch of millennial plant-loving hipster vibes. The servers were all very kind and welcoming, without being too in-your-face. I sat down and started the evening with a spicy Mexico City to drink, having just returned from there a couple of weeks before. It was well-balanced, with a grilled spicy chili as a garnish. I believe it was said to have contained palo santo, but I didn't quite pick up on that in the flavor. For food, we did everything tapas style. Our table loved the fried sunchokes and mixed veggies. Bother were perfectly crisp on the outside, and perfectly cooked on the inside. The beet and strawberry salad was presented beautifully. I also really enjoyed the oyster mushroom dish. I am picky about mushrooms, and they were cooked well, just how I like them. The garbanzo beans could have been cooked just a touch longer in my opinion, but I am picky about beans and I usually feel that way about garbanzos. I finished off with the Oaxaca Colada-- so dynamic and refreshing. I'm not sure what they use as a thickener, perhaps aquafaba? But it was a lovely combination between creamy, sweet, and tart. I look forward to trying Comune again when the next menu comes out!

Amy S.

Yelp
So,so,so good. My favorite place to take friends when visiting. Excellent food and ambiance.

Nichole A.

Yelp
New to Ohio and trying to try new places! This ome is definitely unique. The vibe is chill, staff is friendly, and food is tastey. We also had drinks which were pretty good. I'm giving 4 stars because I feel like it was just a tiny bit overpriced for what it was. However, I do recognize that the creativity and the ever changing menu call for the prices. We got the corn appetizer which was very tasty with the crispy bottom and delicious dressing. Would eat this dish again. As for the mushrooms and stuffed pepper, it was also very good. The sauce was the best part. I would come here again for date night.

Nari J.

Yelp
This place is so special. So much care is put into every dish, from the seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients, to their arrangement and presentation. Everything that I ate - even Comune's take on classics like hummus or baba ghanoush - was creative and unique. The dinner I spent sitting at the bar in late August is the best meal I've had in Columbus. The space glows at dusk. I enjoyed watching the sun set from the storefront window. Would recommend Comune without hesitation for a long, slow dinner - we paced ourselves :-) and kept ordering more small plates throughout the night. I also wanted to shout-out the watermelon yogurt mousse. It's a seasonal "no waste" dessert that uses every part of the watermelon - including, delightfully, the (candied) rind! Altogether the whole thing was incredibly refreshing and balanced. This was my favorite dessert I've ever eaten at a restaurant.

Steven L.

Yelp
Vegetarians visiting Columbus - saw Comune on a best list and we were not disappointed. From the friendly front of the house, to the inviting space, the food shone- heirloom tomato mache- yum, bread with three spreads was amazing, mushroom sauce was phenomenal. Perfect seasoning and d vegetarian food not trying to be meat like! Bravo!

Yelp
Loved it so much! If you want vegetarian food this is the place to go! They use all fresh ingredients and we had the special green beans that's girlfriend hadn't eaten for years. She asked where they got it and the chef said they got it from a farmers market about 1 hour south. They have special menus in different seasons. Definitely worth 50 minutes drive for us for the great food!

Yelp
Omnivore. That is how I would classify myself. Family members are vegetarian and carnivores. We were invited to go to Comune by family and readily agreed. Make sure you have a reservation. There were people waiting for tables and streaming in the doors constantly. The Fresh Semolina PastaPantry LoveFalafel Wraps all were very tasty. The drinks were well prepared and designed to please. Finished off with some sorbet (the pasta has a kick to it). It is a bit expensive but worth the experience.

Yelp
Comune deserves a James Beard Award cause their food is bomb all the time! They never miss a beat! I literally walk out and I'm like chef's kiss; dinner is always magical! If y'all ever need a taste tester I'm your girl! Went on 6/28 for my friends birthday and tried the new summer menu! Amazing!!!! I love that they took their time with the summer menu! It was so creative and just delicious! So many good that I'd never think to pair together! Always a great food experience! Vegan Jesus gotta be in that kitchen!!!!

Yelp
My husband came back in June for our anniversary and loved it even more. My husband felt bad the last time we came in February so he hadn't really enjoyed himself. But this time we both thoroughly enjoyed are food and time. I have never craved mushrooms in my life but let me tell ya, those mushrooms were EXQUISITE. My husband and I don't drink alcohol and still would highly suggest this. I tried the Shrub + Soda for a nonalcoholic drink and I enjoyed it! Great vegan options that would knock the socks off no vegans! I wished I lived closer because I would be coming here all the time.

Yelp
It was so delicious and unique. I've been there twice and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere and plentiful parking across the street!

Yelp
Loved the food experience! All of the menu items we ordered exceeded expectations. Can't wait to return to try other menu items.

Yelp
The ambiance was inviting, our server was so warm and friendly. The food was spectacular. A new go-to spot for sure. The cocktail and food were some of the best I have ever had. Love that their menu was plant-forward, vegan options offered too!

Yelp
Always good food. This visit was hurried by unfriendly wait staff. After a stressful day, we wanted to unwind and enjoy a relaxing night out. Instead, we felt pressure to rush our order meal and get out quickly. It seemed the staff was in a hurry to get out of there. Unfortunately, this has always been one of our favorites.

Yelp
You know it's good when you get a hair in your food (literally pulling it out of your teeth) and still rate it a 4 star. Tangent: I've had a lot of hair in my food which is extremely disturbing. This is the 5th place in two months...am I cursed? My sign to stop eating out so much? Lol. It's so surprising in a time of Covid / extra sanitary precautions. Our server Grace was apologetic and very quick about bringing me a fresh plate. Ugh no money or discount is worth the vomit inducing feeling that a hair gives you. But anyway... onto the drinks and food. The wine list was a lot of fun. We tried two bottles of red. One was tart/acidic but not sweet (pax) and the second was a primitivo which came chilled. Both are wines I would not seek out but I'm glad I tried. The food was delicious. We tried the cashews (the item with the hair), bread and spread (loved the baba and tzaziki), tempura cauliflower, fries, and sweet potato tostada. Favorite item was the tempura cauliflower which had a little bit of a kick. Sweet potato was awesome too with the salty and sweet combo. For entrees the mushroom pappardelle and crispy rice were both awesome. For crispy rice definitely do both the egg and avocado. The mushroom pappardelle had an extremely rich and delicious flavor. I thought the noodles were a touch over cooked but overall an amazing dish. I don't eat vegetarian ever but this is definitely the place to do it if you're gonna have a veggie night! Flavors and ingredients are super well rounded and does not feel like you're missing anything in the meal!

Yelp
I finally got to visit Comune to try the summer menu last month and holy moly was it delicious! If you only order one thing, you HAVE to try the Bread + Spreads. Housemade koji pita served with rotating dips--summer menu included lemony artichoke, hummus, and baba that were all very tasty. I also tried the roasted carrots, cucumber peach salad, and baby potatoes. If I could only make my vegetables at home taste this good! For dessert, we ordered the peach sorbet. A perfect ending to a perfect dinner. Can't wait to come back and try the new fall menu!

Yelp
One of the most genuine and creative vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the city. Very modern décor that can be appealing to progressive minds. Seating arrangement are close to next table that can interfere with the conversation but that wasn't an issue with us. This place can be a perfect dating venue even for non-vegans. Drinks as well as food menu has depth. Our server was amazing and the bartender made the drink with changes I asked for. My squash was wonderful with lentils and citrus. Overall it's a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
Oh. My. God. If I could rate this place 76/5 stars- I would. My fiancé and I reserved a table for dinner to celebrate our engagement! The night was already off to a great start. The two of us walked in and were taken to our table. The ambiance was already delightful. The interior of comune is beautiful. It is clean and simple. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our waitress was so kind. The appetizer was so inviting. We got the bread and spread. They brought out this huge pita!!! With three different spreads. This pita was so big and so good. It was fluffy - yet crunchy. It was also salted well and possessed this earthy taste. Divine. Our meals were also pretty good. I got the falafel wraps and he got the semolina cavatelli. Wow. His pasta was so good! I normally don't go crazy for pasta - but the sauce was complex and artful. My falafel was good - just incredibly crunchy. Besides that, taste was excellent. Next comes the best part of the entire experience..... dessert. I was floored looking at this knafeh. Absolutely floored. I can't put words to how impeccable this dessert was. It was beyond master chef level. The taste was so good I died and resurrected in one bite. It was this vegan ice cream atop a haystack of toasted coconut. Underneath the coconut was this chocolate ganache square with berries. The ice cream was topped with pistachios and what seemed to be some sort of berry compote. Ugh. Drinks were yummy too. We are definitely going back. Thanks Comune.

Yelp
It's been about a month since my first visit to Comune and I'm still dreaming about it. I say first visit, because there is no doubt in my mind that I'll be back for years to come! It was delicious and special and all the things that make you want to keep coming back to a business. My co-worker and I arrived for lunch and we were both blown away by the space itself. It's bright, modern, and overall has lovely character. I loved all the white and the plants throughout the space. We started with drinks and I ordered the Lapp it Up seasonal kombucha. It was a rose apple flavor and was fabulous. I had never heard of Lapp it Up and was pleasantly surprised to learn that it's an Ohio based business. Another reason why this place is magical! Next we decided to share the pickles, which were a variety of different vegetables including carrots, cucumbers, beets, apples, and okra. This was a great opportunity for me to try various pickled items that I've never had before. For example, the apple blew me away. Who would have thought? For my main course, I ordered the sweet potato torta with a side of togarashi fries. The torta itself included jalapenos, pickled onions, greens, and 3 different spread options; black bean, queso fresco, and avocado-cilantro mayo. I ate several single bite and would hands down, order this again. The fries were also amazing. I love me some good fries and these were seasoned well and went great with the spreads that came with my torta. My friend ordered the dan dan noodle bowl and said it was absolutely amazing. So amazing that she took her left overs with her on the way back to Indy and ate them in the car later, no lies. Comune really goes above and beyond when it comes to crafting a beautiful menu and combining that with a beautiful space and friendly service. It's unique, completely vegan which is a major win for me, and they're doing something no other place in Columbus is doing. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My first visit was today for lunch with Gwen W. Since Jayme recommended the Sweet Potato Torta, I was going to get that, until I saw the Brussels Sprout Melt. This was so original, I ordered it and loved it. Very tasty and the black mountain bread was great. The side greens were indeed "simply dressed" and perfect (ok, maybe a tad salty). Our server brought a pitcher of water for the two of us, and I asked for lemon with mine. She brought a tiny pitcher of lemon juice. Neato. I also had a glass of Riesling, which was very refreshing for a hot day. The interior is simple, very white, and lovely. I will surely return. There is side street parking.

Yelp
I was really impressed by Comune. We dined on the patio and everything we ordered was delicious. The bread and spread is a must get; the bread comes out nice and hot and the spreads are all different and complement each other. We tried the crunchy rice too; lots of flavors going on and great texture. The falafel wraps were our favorite though; they were super crunchy and the presentation was beautiful. Overall, I am so glad we discovered Comune as this was one of the most creative restaurants we've tried in town. Great atmosphere, friendly servers and we look forward to being back!
