"The Del Rey location of the iconic Inglewood restaurant isn’t the largest space on this list, but as long as your group doesn’t exceed ten or so people, you’ll still find plenty of space to spread out and enjoy a meal. That said, with seafood this fresh, it’s worth scrunching into a table for a few hours. Whether it’s the raw shrimp aguachiles, the marlin tacos, or a giant whole snook for the table, this is some of our favorite seafood in LA, and if your friends don’t agree, it’s time to start making some cuts." - brant cox
"An offshoot run by the Cossio family where Peñuelas was running the kitchen in 2011 when the late Jonathan Gold lauded his pescado zarandeado in an LA Weekly review; it was an important formative station in which he learned Nayarit-style barra fría (cold bar), barra caliente (hot bar), and parrilla (grill). The classic Mexican seafood spot from Inglewood opened a Westside location a few years ago, bringing its incredible ceviches, marlin tacos, and grilled snook to an area of town that needed some drive-worthy seafood. "Coni'Seafood is rightfully famous. This family-owned Mexican seafood spot has been serving some of the best Nayarit-style mariscos in town for decades, and eventually expanded its shrimp-heavy operation with a second location on the Marina Del Rey/Mar Vista border. The outdoor patio here is slightly smaller than the original’s (we prefer to call it “more intimate”), but the menu is the same. As soon as you arrive, order the signature whole snook (it takes a solid half-hour to prepare) marinated in a salty, umami-rich sauce and grilled to perfection.
