Where to Find Birria Tacos in the Boston Area | Eater Boston

"Beehive and Beat Brew Hall sibling Cósmica, a fairly new addition to Boston’s South End, is located at the Revolution Hotel. Chef Colton Coburn-Wood has been enthusiastically making tacos for quite some time, having previously worked at Yellow Door Taqueria and Ken Oringer’s now-defunct Fenway taqueria La Verdad, and is continuing to do so at Cósmica. The restaurant’s quesabirria tacos are made with lamb, onions, and chile rajas. Cósmica is currently open for indoor and outdoor dining, as well as takeout and delivery (Uber Eats, Grubhub), but the takeout and delivery menus are abbreviated and don’t currently include the quesabirria tacos." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
Highly recommended!! Cosmica is the place to go for Mexican food. Food and service are amazing!!! Alan was in charge of our table. We were a party of 5. He was great, he had the patience to explain and describe to us almost every item in the menu and advise us what dishes were good to share or to order individually. He also recommended drinks. He was an amazing waiter!!! The food is really authentic Mexican! We had guacamole con salsas, Birria, Quesadillas. Carnitas tacos, fajitas de pollo, carne asada. Man, this is the real authenticity Mexican flavor. I highly recommend the birria and the carne asada. And highly recommend the spicy maracuya (passion fruit) margarita, If you are more that 2 drinking Margarita I would recommend getting the margarita pitcher. Thank you Chef for the great food and thank you Alan for your great service!!

Derek

Google
Warning! 22% tip-included! I recommend the Tuna Tostada, Guacamole, and the Carne Asada (which is really just skirt steak). Chicken and enchilada big plates were dry and not very memorable. Ceviche was a bit too salty and the Duck & Pork Carnitas is mostly pork. Like a more up-scale, Mexican-version of Barcelona Wine Bar, this restaurant’s interior is even darker and slightly jungly in a fun, chaotic way. The ambience felt ideal for our group of 5 as the place can get pretty loud. Service was solid, but don’t let the waitress fool you. 2 small plates and 1 large plate (as seen on menu) is plenty enough for 2 people. Ended up ordering too much and had to take some home. All the food was pretty good for Boston standards - definitely not authentic but had a slight twist in ingredients to traditional flavors that made the steep price feel slightly more justifiable. Cocktails were quite sweet and not very strong but pairs well with the salty/greasiness of the food. Not bad. Overall, glad I tried it out, but it’ll probably be a while before I come here again.

Google
I enjoyed the Cósmica experience. Good tacos and guacamole. The atmosphere was conducive to talking. Music was on, but not distracting. Service was great. Street parking is a challenge.

Google
Loved it! I’ve been wanting to try it for a while and I’m so glad I did. The staff was genuine and friendly, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was just right not too loud but lively!

Google
Tacos are amazing! They come with authentic tortillas. Pro tip: You can ask for one taco of each filling instead of the standard order of two tacos with the same filling. I ended up with three different tacos - score!"

Google
This is a lovely hidden gem next to the Revolution Hotel. The food was quite good. I recommend the cauliflower with the pineapple and the sotol ranch water. Alan was our waiter and he was very informative and kind. I also appreciated that the menu was very clear about the gluten free options.

Google
I always have excellent service here! The bartenders are fantastic. And the food is really great, but you don't get a lot of it for the price (just so you know). The drinks are very tasty. It's also a beautiful restaurant right in the South End, connected to the Revolution Hotel.

Google
delicious food, decent service, great atmosphere (the restaurant had a “cool tropical” vibe). But I do think it’s quite expensive for the value though.

Yelp
This restaurant is super cute and the food was very good quality! Tasted more authentic than the typical Mexican restaurant. They had a mariachi band singing around the restaurant, as part of their Cinco de Mayo celebration. Our waitress was so sweet and everything came out exactly as ordered, and fairly quickly. Overall, great experience and would definitely recommend! The restaurant is located in the back bay/south end area, so street parking can be hard to find. It's probably best to walk there or take Uber/Lyft .

Yelp
Overall takeaway: watch the check! I was here recently for my birthday party with friends and had a great time. Food was tasty, drinks were good (sangia could use a little work) but their margaritas were very nice. The chips had a robust crunch, crispy, and not oily at all. It makes it great for dipping since they don't break. When waiting for more guests of my party to arrive (party total of 10) the bartender asked if we wanted any drinks. Trying to save for later on, I waited for everyone else to come before getting a margarita. I asked for water for the time being. The sever said "Still or sparkling"? Knowing sparkling always has a charge, I went with still and we got 3 bottles. Figuring that was Boston tap, that was fine until realizing he charged $8 per bottle!! Never mentioned to me or later guests "tap, still, or sparkling". For the table, I decided let's get two orders of "chips and salsa". Apparently there was an separate appetizer below of "guacamole, chips, and salsa" which I never said or order. When the first two baskets arrived, I wasn't paying attention and thought guac was a surprise bonus, or because it was a bday, or that's the way the operated. So instead of $7 a basket, each basket in which the server brought guac was a total of $14.50! We had 3 "chips and salsa" baskets. To top it off, most places don't do anything for birthday but some give a complementary treat, or most likely someone goes to a server seperately as asks for a dessert to cover. They brought out a mousse dessert which was very tasty, and with a candle on top - but none of my friends paid or odered for it. So, add $10. I forgot the piece that asking for more tortilla chips isn't free. Borders, before they closed in Harvard made chips like Krispy Kreme donuts, and gave them for free. Same for other Mexican places in Massachusetts, and even in Cali when I was there. So another $3 per basket, and we ordered two (menu never showed an extra cost for chips$. Then when the bill came, it was a 22% auto-gratuity - and never mentioned when booking or on the menu, etc. then sugestsd addition tip of 2%, 3%, 5%, 7%. Tip came to $100+ (chips, and the waters came to another $100 about). Luckily the took of the dessert. The bill came to $621 originally, and my guests at first gave my $275 in cash. I was fuming. To put $300+ on my card was outrageous. Then I got more of my guests to give me more money. I spoke with the night manager and gave me a free (very least after all of that). It went from a great experience of 5 stars right down to 1 for this particular event. But, I went a second time with a friend and Jodi who was managing was very, very friend and covered a drink for a friend and I - so overall, it evened out. As a foodie: the should offer more meats like el pastor, and carnitas. The bartender we had was fantastic and the place is super, super cool. Definitely go for the ambiance and tasty food - but my takeaway is if you go, keep the table size small unless you got money to burn.

Yelp
GREAT girls night spot. We went at 6 on a Friday night and had a reservation but probably didn't need one. It started to get busy around 7ish. We asked for a pitcher of the house margarita which isn't on the menu but Juan Pablo happily obliged! Our service was speedy and servers attentive, refilling our glasses and replacing chips as we went. The guac has pepitas in it and salsa was a little smokey, nice change and really tasty. We went for the giant taco platter (10 tacos) and got every kind. The brisket and cod were favorites. After tip our bill was $200 which feels a little pricey but fits the vibes of the South End. They have a huge patio out front, definitely hope to come back this summer to eat outside!

Yelp
Imagine if you will: your neighborhood taco joint. Yes, there are better spots out there... But this one's around the corner, it's cheap, and it's just fine for the taco craving you sometimes get. You don't necessarily recommend it to a friend, unless they've moved into your building. Now, imagine that same taco joint tried to go upscale. "Tried" being the operative term. Atmosphere, service, and price? Check check and double check. Quality?... Best I can do is points for effort. I had the opportunity to try: Brisket Tacos, Bass Ceviche, [Regular] Margarita, Cadillac Margarita, and a couple of their salsas (habanero, guajillo, and verde). The Margarita and Cadillac Margarita: both of these were extremely solid as far as margaritas go. The regular margarita was fairly balanced, not too sweet, a had a little bit of booziness. Pretty much a standard house Marg. The Cadillac had slightly better tequila, a bit more sweetness, and a bit more perceptible booziness. It was slightly more enjoyable, but I'm not sure if it was five dollars nicer. Tequila aficionados, feel free to disagree with me. The ceviche was good. The fish was of high quality, the sauce/base had a very light, pleasant creaminess and savoriness. Bits of pineapple were a nice touch, but they seem to get lost as the flavor was muted. As for the dill, I could take it or leave it. The ceviche came with their chips. While I definitely appreciate they were not out of a bag and were not overly greasy, a little more salt would have been lovely. This gives an excellent segue into the salsas I was able to try. We can chalk some of my experience up to my fire-tempered taste buds, but even among these three I found them bland. They seem to lack spice or excitement. They were wet 'somethings' with a faint whisper of heat and different degrees of acidity. Then there are the tacos. These were a fork and knife affair as they were loaded with proteins and also very wet. Eating these by hand is an almost guaranteed visit to the dry cleaners. The flavors were pretty good! The meat was tender, savory, and had a subtle char. Meanwhile the veggies did a good job rounding the tacos out. While fine on their own, I still desired some kind of oomph, or something to elevate them a little bit further. Before moving on, I'd like to give a shout out to the service. It was very friendly, speedy, and superbly attentive. I love great service and I love an inviting atmosphere. However, when I'm dropping $90 after tip on dinner for just me, I would hope there's be something to warrant a return trip. Alas, this was missing. At the end of the day, it comes down to value and price. Other than desiring little bit more boldness I don't have any substantive complaints about the food, Still, I felt the value was slightly lacking. It is an improvement from the aforementioned neighborhood taco joint, yet, we are talking about a modest increase in quality in exchange for an almost doubling in cost.

Yelp
Very lovely weekend brunch spot! I loved the decor and vibes of this restaurant, and they had a great selection of drinks and food available. For the price point, I feel like I could've gotten a bit more food, but the food itself was delicious and well prepared, and it came out fairly quickly. The servers and hostess were all so welcoming and helpful, and had a great experience here.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times in the past months and the drinks and food in here are sooo good! The vibe is really good to go with a group of friends to catch up! I recommend the chips and guac!

Yelp
We ended up at Cosmica because Beehive (their sister restaurant) unexpectedly closed for the evening and they had transferred our reservation over. This context may be helpful because our experience overall was a little frantic. We were sat in a corner booth behind a private party, which seemed to delay our service a bit. Our waiter seemed to be juggling a lot at once because we had four separate orders arrive at our table before we ordered our own food. We ordered drinks, which came after our appetizer. They were decently sized, but definitely sweeter than I thought they would be. The fajitas were okay - the pepper and side salad seemed more like garnishes than for eating purposes. Overall, my whole group felt the same, the food was okay - would not need to come back again. However, if I were the reader, I would give this place a shot! I just think our overall experience was frantic due to the fact that we were not originally planning on eating here. I would however, probably try the tacos (or other food offerings).

Dan S.

Yelp
Service was great!!! Food was good. Chicken Fajitas definitely overpriced The mariachi band came in, just as we were finishing dinner. We were disappointed that it was Valentine's Day, and they really didn't have dessert selections except for two. A chocolate torte cake, and a flan. If they had Tres leches, we would've totally ordered two desserts

Yelp
First our waiter was extremely attentive, not once did our water cups go empty without a prompt refill, he checked in on us multiple times throughout the meal, and worked to clean up plates quickly as we finished items. For the food, we had the chips and salsa where the sales was delicious and very smooth however I found the chips to be overly crunchy for my liking, but my daughter enjoyed them as is. We the ordered the smoky morita chile chicken wings which had a good flavor but the rub was heavy and rather overpowering for the wing. Additionally we had the pork guisado enchiladas which we both thoroughly enjoyed. None of the flavors were overwhelming, they all balanced nicely, the cheese was wonderfully melted and the rice was fantastic. We ended the meal with chocolate mousse which was light and fluffy and the whipped cream was not overly sweet which was great with the mousse.

Yelp
I went here for NYE and had chips & guac, calamari, and the swordfish and mole dish. i'm not going to lie, I was skeptical at first because the ingredients did not seem to pair well in my mind, but boy was I wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and it was probably the best food I had while visiting Boston.

Yelp
11 nights in this city, eating out twice a day, and this by far was the BEST meal I had. Perfectly seasoned and cooked, and even though it may not look like it, it's very filling. My dinner mates ordered tacos, the beef brisket plate, and the duck and pork carnitas plate. All rated 5 stars! The serving staff was very outgoing and friendly, and the restaurant was huge. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
First time there. Was okay. Decent food but expensive for what it is. But always try something more than once. 2nd time. Over priced food. Chicken is dry. Don't get get enough tortillas for fajitas. And the bartender this time was crap. $14 margaritas that were just juice. Not basically just juice. I mean only juice. To be fair. Great chips and salsa. Go to citrus and salt. It's better. I recommend the barra taco at citrus and salt. Not as good chips and salsa though.

Yelp
This place was such a gem! Excellent service and the food was beyond. We dined outside on the beautiful patio, but I did step inside as well and it's absolutely gorgeous.

Yelp
If you're looking for delicious tacos in the South End, look no further than this spot. From the moment we arrived for our reservation, we were impressed with the service. We were seated right away at a one-chair-one-booth table, and our waiter promptly took our drink order. The refreshing lemonades were the perfect complement to the flavorful tacos. Speaking of the tacos, we tried three different types and each one was a mouthwatering masterpiece. The first taco we had was the pork and duck, which was bursting with savory flavors. The chicken Colorado taco was equally as delicious, with a nice balance of spice and heat. And the brisket taco was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. One of the things we appreciated most about this restaurant was the speed at which our food arrived. Our tacos were delivered to our table as quickly as our drinks, making for a seamless dining experience. Additionally, the attentive staff made sure that all of our needs were met without us ever feeling rushed. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for tasty tacos and excellent service.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and really wasn't disappointed. The space itself is really cool. It's a pretty big and open restaurant space, very clean and cool decor. The staff was all really attentive and friendly. I got the AeroMexico cocktail and it was really delicious. I love guava so this was up my alley. I also ordered the fried clam taco and the brisket taco. The fried clam was really good, pickled onions on it worked well with the clams. The brisket was nice and meaty with lots of juices. A little messy to eat because they were really stuffed (maybe really warrants a second tortilla?) but delicious nonetheless. We also got guacamole and salsa for the table and I think it was just fine. The guacamole was really smoky so that was a cool/different touch. I didn't love the chips. They were probably freshly fried but seemed a little greasy for me. I felt like it was a little pricey. The tacos were reasonable (esp for the size ~$7 each), but the drink was $15 and the guacamole/salsa was $16. Overall, I'd definitely come back here with friends for another night out!

Yelp
2021 was a year of firsts for us as a couple, particularly this past New Years Eve! We've never been much for going out on that busiest night of the year - preferring drinks with friends, or to escape the city entirely - but this year, as we were staying in the "Revolution Hotel", we thought what better way to begin NYE than dinner at the Hotel's restaurant - "Cosmica!" Before we begin this review, we will acknowledge the first time to come to a new restaurant probably shouldn't be NYE - especially since the restaurant had an event later in the evening! But, honestly, we were glad we did anyway! Arriving early in the evening, the eclectic bar was already in full swing for the night, and we were sat in the back dining room! A quieter space, we began the evening by having a few of their cocktails: COOL AS A CUCUMBER - Jalapeño-Infused Tequila, Cucumber Aqua Fresca, & Basil! DON PALOMA - Don Julio Blanco, Grapefruit, Lime, & Chili Sour Sugar! RUM CONNECTION - Flor De Caña 4 & 7 Yr, Cachaça, Passion Fruit, Lime, & Agave! Great drinks - especially the 'Cool As A Cucumber', we will definitely be back to sit at the main bar - more on why in our next post - in future to try the rest of the "Vacation Drinks" menu!! However, the real reason were here is still to come - their well-renowned food menu! Being part of the same restaurant group as "Beehive" we knew we wouldn't be disappointed in the quality - and spoiler alert - we weren't Join us in the next post for our experience! Our New Year's Eve Dinner at "Cosmica" in Boston's South End got off to an excellent start with some great "vacation" cocktails, but it was really the food that kicked off the good time! Though the meal was a little more rushed than we expected (due to the restaurant having a NYE party later in the evening, and the general issues everywhere had this past winter), we still managed to enjoy a few courses from their NYE menu! We started off with: ESQUITES - Off-The-Cob Street Corn! You can't go wrong with street corn, and the option of adding Crab was a nice touch! After this, though, we decided to focus on trying most of their taco options: CHILI ROASTED BRISKET - Guajillo Salsa & Rajas Poblanos! CHICKEN VERDE - Ancho Yucca Mash, Potato Chips, & Onion! FRIED CLAM - Umami Bomb Sauce, Guacamolio, Smoked Jalapeño Aioli, & Slaw! SCALLOP - Cabbage Slaw & Lime Salsa! These were fun and unique offerings, with the Fried Clam being our favorite! However, the "family style" plating made it difficult to enjoy them fully, as they are kind of mixed together - we recommend asking for separate platings if possible! We had a really great time at "Cosmica" - and we will definitely return this summer! Next time though, we want to experience the bar area - the vibe there seemed much more electric, with more space to eat and enjoy! Heads up: it is quite expensive for both food and cocktails. The price point for the amount of food is way too high. We left hungry and our wallets empty, unfortunately. Have you been to "Cosmica"? What did you think of your experience? Let us know!

Yelp
Friendly staff, a nicer up-scale Mexican place in Boston with a good location in Back Bay! A bit pricey though for not the biggest portions that's for sure. Pretty good vibes inside

Yelp
Updating my review: I came back to Boston as of Thursday with a different girl friend, and we decided to come here last night for dinner. They take reservations on OpenTable, and they were ready for us when we showed up at the reserved time. The music and atmosphere was fun, and the food is also great. My friend ordered a cider and a plate of tacos -- she did the duck and pork carnitas tacos. She said the salsa roja was a bit too spicy for her because of the spicy aftertaste. A plate came with two tacos. We were both blown away by how great quality their taco shells are because though the corn tortillas are tiny, they hold a lot, and they don't break easily. I ordered a Cadillac Margarita, chips and salsa, the brisket tacos, and the grilled swordfish tacos. The grilled swordfish didn't seem grilled for me, it looked like it was fried, but it was tender on the inside and still delicious. I ended up asking the server what she recommended in the tacos section since I wanted another order was on the fence between what my friend ordered and the brisket one. She recommended the brisket, and it was some of the best I've ever had. She's also friendly, efficient and effective. Our food and drinks came quickly, and it was a nice experience overall. We also appreciate how it's next door and connected to the hotel, so we didn't have to do too much to have fun and to fill our bellies.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and their food is consistently delicious. The staff were attentive and accommodating; they brought me a water bowl with waters for the humans which my mom found to be very considerate. The decorum is unique and energetic. Definitely a fun and cool place to enjoy food and good chat with friends.

Yelp
Cosmica is such a fun spot! I recently had dinner here with a friend and absolutely loved my experience. The waiter was so nice and the atmosphere was casual but fun. They have a great bar and lots of indoor seating, along with a great patio once the weather gets warmer. Their street corn is SO good (still drooling over it). We also loved the fresh guac, the coconut tres leches and the tuna tostada. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Rosemary S.

Yelp
Cosmica is always a cheerful spot with the walled in patio and colorful interior. I went for Easter brunch which had a different menu. They also advertised "music" which I expected meant something like a band or musician or DJ; anything besides just literally playing music over the speakers like they do every day but that was all it was. But no big deal. The service is great; fast and our waitress was very patient and inviting. Drinks here are always good, both the bloody maria and bloody mezcal were strong but well balanced. Neither was spicy at all which surprised me at a Mexican type place but still tasted good. The food was all fresh and lighter than a lot of Mexican places in the US. Rather than white rice, cheese, and sour cream there were more vegetables, unprocessed grains and bright citrus flavors. Despite being relatively healthy the portion sizes for the taco bowls and brunch dishes were quite large. Again, nothing we had was spicy. But everyone was full before their plate was clean.
google avatar

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Picked up dinner from here and some of the items were really good. The chicken fajitas and sword fish tacos are probably the best Mexican entrees I've had while in Boston. The flavors are more refined than what you find at a traditional Mexican restaurant, but it's great elevated Mexican food. The smoked jalapeño in the guacamole wasn't my thing, but it was ok. They have very good homemade chips to go along with it. The vegetable tamale was inedible. I can't really reconcile something that bad with the rest of the food we had.

Yelp
Visited Cosmica for the first time and was thoroughly surprised and absolutely thrilled to have be a patron of this establishment. Drinks, food, and service were top notch! If inclined to try them out, be sure to request Rafael Rodriguez as your table side assistant. He was fun, knowledgeable about the menu, and a delight to to have encountered. Thanks Rafael!

Yelp
This restaurant was right next to our hotel in Boston and since we got in kind of late, decided to try it for convenience sake. The food is all Mexican based - tacos or bowls. The bowls come with rice and beans and I decided on the brisket bowl. It was good, but standard - I honestly think you get a better flavor at Chipotle. Definitely over priced for the food you get - we ended up paying almost $60 for two. I know Boston is expensive but we had other meals that were much better and $15 less than this one. Grab it if you're in a hurry or just looking for something close, but don't expect more than mediocre.

Skyler M.

Yelp
This place is serving. The brisket tacos were to die for. The tuna tostado was so fresh and amazing. Drinks were also so fresh. I already want to come back.

Yelp
Chicken tacos 7/10 Chips and guac/salsa 8/10 Drinks MID . Tasted like straight tequila and tap water. Atmosphere 6/10 the staff were cool and the service was so quick they prolly had everything premade since yesterday Tres leches -10/10 could have been an actual sponge from the kitchen with frosting on top. We took two bites and sent it back. Just go to citrus and salt if you want acceptably mid mexican and good drinks

Yelp
I can never pass up the opportunity to try a new taco place. There are so many taco places in Boston that are on my list of "must try's" and I'm glad I finally got to Cosmica! Definitely make a reservation if you plan on going on the weekend. It was packed. Our waitress didn't come around too often because it was so busy, which wasn't a huge deal. But we weren't able to order our tacos until she came to tell us we had 30 minutes left of our 90 minute table time. Other than that everything was delicious! I love how they put pumpkin seeds in their guacamole and queso dip; it was different but tasted really good. They were so good that my friend and I loaded up on chips and dip and had to bring half of our entrees home for leftovers. Perfectly fine by me because I had lunch for the next day! They do have a really cute outdoor patio space, but we went when it was still cold out. I definitely want to go back when it gets warmer so we can sit outside and drink margs!

Yelp
I was wanting a restaurant that was close to the hotel and a quick dinner. There is intimate outdoor seating and great in door seating. There were nicely situated. The waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the hot queso, brisket tacos along with sparkling water and red wine sangria. Everything had that authentic flavor. Food: the hot queso was different since it has pureed squash but is served with peppers and chorizo. It was full of flavor! Brisket tacos: slow roasted pull brisket on a taco is genius! 2 comes with an order. I call tell the brisket was done with care. Overall food and drinks were fun!

Yelp
Pricey Mexican restaurant with good service and average food. Service: Our server, John, very polite and respectful. Helpful when asked for a recommendation and mindful to not barge in when we were talking. The food came out quick, well its also the cuisine but it was fairly fast. We were in and out within 1.5 hrs with no complains. +1 Food: We were a party of 2 and went with 2 appetizers, 1 entree and 1 Taco. For appetizers we ordered the Gauc n Chips (yes cliche) and the Tuna Ceviche. Honestly, they were okay. The guac was creamy with pumpkin seeds sprinkled over it and the Tuna Ceviche was average. We got the Baja Taco special, bear battered Baja with Chipotle Aioli, nice blend, recommend it if its available. The Shrimp fajitas were also good, nicely sautéed in cajun and pepper seasoning but definitely pricey ($29) Ambience: Casual evening vibe with mariachi playing in the background and a low hum of people talking. Keep in mind if you are driving and going after 6pm, parking around the area is restricted to Residents only.

Yelp
This is a very instagrammable place. The aesthetic is so bright and unique. Bonus points for playing lots of Bad Bunny and other Latinx artists. The drinks are okay and the menu doesn't have much going on, not much offered. Even then, all the food items are.. eh. The service was not that great, quite slow. I think this would be a great place to get drinks as a group after work but that's it. If you have a unique palette for food, I think this place might be for you but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place as a first choice. If you're driving, you're gonna need to find the nearest lot for parking and walk the rest of the way. Most of the street parking nearby is residential and I got a ticket lol.

Yelp
A little overpriced for what it is but I really a great time here. Started with chips, guacamole, and salsa. The guacamole had pumpkin seeds in it which made it unique but a little bland. I ordered the cool as a cucumber drink which was so refreshing but a little watered down. Not at all spicy for being a jalapeño drink but it was so good. The tacos were a good size for single serving but $7 feels very high for a taco. Carnitas we're good and chicken had potato inside - fun but I'd avoid is you're looking for a classic. Other locations in Boston have similar sizes for maybe $4-5. Overall it was a nice but expensive night!

Yelp
First time here & will come back when I come back to Boston! This place was fantastic. The food was outstanding & the service was off the charts! Very friendly & knowledgeable servers. The brisket bowl was absolutely fantastic! You definitely want to stop here if you like Mexican food!

Yelp
Came here on a night because of taco cravings and it was really a pleasant experience! Partially was because when we came, there was no one else here so especially with covid concerns, it just felt more comfortable in the open dining area and the speed of food coming was also quick. Ordered a specialty bass taco and a set of el Palor as well as some additional corn tortillas. I have to say the corn flavor of the tortillas was intense so I was very happy to just ordered more on the side, especially when the fillings were a lot and i was able to split the three tacos into more portions. The bass was different from other fish tacos because it was not fried and you can really taste the tenderness of the fish. The lady who served us was also very attentive so that was a big plus as well. Would definitely be back!

Yelp
This is one of the better Mexican restaurants that I've been to in Boston in terms of quality. Don't be discouraged if the reservations are full online. My friends and I (5 of us in total) managed to get a table by calling them. Parking around the restaurant is a pain so I would recommend public transportation. I loved their take on guacamole and chips! There was a nice bacon flavor to it that make it extra savory. For entrees, the Carne Asada and Duck & Pork Carnitas are a decent portion that can be split between two people. I got the Lamb Barbacoa bowl which was good and came with rice and beans. Minus one star for the service because they messed up my order and they forgot one of my friend's food. For drinks, I got the Acapulco Dream which is essentially a Pina Colada and I loved it. As others have mentioned, the menu is a bit pricey, but I think the experience is worth it.

Yelp
Excellent attentive service and out-of-this world flavors. Highly recommend the brisket suadero tacos rich flavorful on corn tortillas. Partner had salmon a la plancha and i had farm vegetable mole. Generous portions artfully presented. Large sheltered outside seating great space gor party.

Yelp
A must go in Boston! Our server was amazing and was extremely helpful with the nut allergy in our party. It is in a cute building with fun lights and decor. Our only complaint is that it can get pretty loud. All of us agreed the margaritas were the best we've ever had and we got the regular, strawberry, and passion fruit flavors. Tacos were spicy, flavorful, and delicious. Also highly recommend the beans as a side. Will be back!

Yelp
The food here is amazing and we had a fantastic waitress, Valeria, who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed throughout the entire meal. Would definitely recommend for a modern take on Mexican food in the south end!

Yelp
Cósmica knows how to make a drink. The first drink, the Soul Taker, brought a fun cachaça beverage with passion fruit splash and a blackberry/blueberry floater. Definitely a sweeter drink, but the acidic floater balances the drink nicely. One is all I needed and it was delicious! The margaritas are a classic - lots of lime (anyone who puts orange juice in a margarita is CRAZY) and a salty/sweet rim was exactly what I needed. Cósmica is a hidden gem that I hope gains attention - great spot to hang out!

Yelp
What an incredible dinner experience! Went here for date night and loved it. We got the sangria pitcher which was perfect for two, and split a "shareable" -- duck and pork carnitas. It was the perfect date night, and food was DELICIOUS! As for GF/Celiacs like me, the menu was very well labeled and waitress was knowledgeable. Amazing corn tortillas (and I've had many bad ones in my days...) and gluten free salsas!

Yelp
So glad to have had the chance to try this place out since it was a spontaneous find. I was searching the day of for a place for 3 on a Saturday night and of course everywhere was booked however I was able to find seating here. The indoor and outdoor space is very spacious. We ordered ESQUITES, CHILI ROASTED BRISKET TACOS, CHICKEN VERDE TACOS, FRIED CLAM TACOS, Sangria and shared our whole course which was a perfect way to try everything. Each taco order came with 2 and the Esquites was the only dish that tasted spicy to me. The tacos I was go back for are the brisket and fried clam, both were so flavorful.

Yelp
I'm so glad I came here for a spur of the moment brunch! Apparently it was their first time serving brunch. 5 stars for ambience - the outdoor patio is very cute and I honestly didn't know this place even existed until now. It's like a hidden secret lovely garden within concrete walls. Very easy to social distance, waitress was very conscientious with taking orders and handing us our silverware and glasses without touching them. 5 stars for cocktails - the Los Freddy was AMAZING. Very refreshing, not too sweet, mild kick to it, and the salt sugar rim combo they had was amazing! Literally couldn't stop licking 4 stars for food - coming from CA I would say the tacos are obviously super white washed not really authentic, but they did have good complex flavors to them and for Boston it's good. It was a little pricey... $14.50 for just two tacos. No sides. Nada. Which I feel like was not worth it... the other plates my friends ordered and from what I tried of their food was good but not 5-star stellar. I did ask for hot sauce on the side and their house-made hot sauce is . Actually spicy and almost has a smokiness to it.

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday with the family for an early dinner. The atmosphere in the patio is really nice. Service was good. Chips and guacamole were great, but quite pricey at $14, even by South End standards. Most of the food is quite spicy, even for Mexican food. Cheese quesadillas for the kids were good, as was the spring salad, but definitely get the dressing on the side unless you like a ton of heat. The shrimp I added was also spicy.

Yelp
The drinks are gorgeous and strong, but I'm very unimpressed with the food and their pricing. I bet that living down South raised my standards for Mexican food, but a taco bowl also shouldn't be $20. I always opt for the larger meal portion of an entree, and I still leave the restaurant hungry every time. That being said, Cosmica is still a beautiful restaurant and great for sitting outside, especially on warm days and nights. I'd recommend this spot when friends are visiting from out of town to see a trendy South End restaurant.

Yelp
Not worth it. $87 for some bland tacos. We thought the chips & salsa was complementary (most places usually do), but it's not. Cute atmosphere but the food isn't good/great. Lack luster on the seasoning. As a local....this ain't it

Yelp
Overall I enjoyed this place. I can recall maybe one place I've been to in my entire life where there was good tacos and margaritas. This is a taco place. I want to echo what everyone has said about the drinks - water and juice. Nevertheless these were probably the best tacos I've had in a while in Boston. I know Boston is getting expensive so I hate to complain about the price. $8/$12 for a taco just isn't great. I'm going to keep looking for a taco spot but this is a good place to refer people for company meals. The staff was nice too. I think it's supposed to be 1.5h seating and they let us stay much longer which was nice. We were there around close so they may not have needed the table. Overall the brisket tacos were excellent, environment was excellent, staff was kind, drink were meh (my friends got the house marg and strawberry margarita and they enjoyed it. I got the spicy hibiscus and it tasted very very awful unfortunately and then the perfecta which tasted like a liquid sweettart. I probably send one thing back every 5 years and the spicy hibiscus was it) the likelihood that there's no alcohol in their $15 drinks is probably like 90% or they're just completely saturated in sugar and lime and syrups. Idk, skip margaritas and maybe do the sangria).

Yelp
This place was everything I was in the mood for and then some. First off, I came to get some food and drinks on my own. I was seated over by the window which was great for a party of 1 lol. Nonetheless, Alia (I hope I got that right) came to serve me and right away she was very welcoming. I ordered a QUESSABIRRA which is a quesadilla made to eat as a birra and man I was blown away. To top it off, they used lamb for this kind and it was truest special. Loved every bite! I asked about a few items but unfortunately they had been sold out (the night was busy!!) nonetheless Alia gave some suggestions & I went along with the fried clam tacos. FRIED CLAM TACOS!!! I'm a fan already of fried clam, but as a taco?? -- yes, I went for it. 10/10 They have a good beer selection leaning towards Mexican, Central American favorites like Sol, Modelo and Pacifico. The food was delicious beyond belief but what really made my experience special was my server. There are great reviews about the service here and Alia is a great example of how hospitable they can be here. Thanks!

Yelp
The service was superb and the menu had a diverse but cool dishes that were outside the norm. We had Adriana as our server and she was very attentive. Happy to recommend and will return!

Yelp
Great first experience at Cósmica! DRINKS: I ordered the Alcalpulco Dream, and it was a dream indeed. It's a boozy slushy consisting of aged rum, pineapple and toasted coconut around the rim. The slushy was so good. I couldn't stop drinking it. The flavor of the pineapple was definitely there, and the toasted coconut rim was definitely a needed touch! It was the perfect toasted sweetness against the pineapple flavor. The coconut almost kinda reminded me of a Girls Scout Samoa cookie! FOOD: For starters, we decided to try a few apps. We got the shrimp ceviche, crab churros, guac and chips and the esquites (off the cob street corn). Out of the four, the shrimp ceviche was my favorite. It was tart and refreshing and tasted great against the chips. The crab churros and the sauces they came with were good. It did look a bit unappetizing though. I also wished the crab flavor was more vibrant. For entree, we decided to go for three taco plates - chili roasted brisket, chicken verde and fried clams. They were all good, however, the brisket and clams needed to be more tender. I felt like I was chewing a long time for those two tacos. As for the chicken, it was a bit more mushy than my liking. Nonetheless, the tacos were just okay, nothing show-stopping. SERVICE/LOCATION: Cósmica is situated right in the South End. Parking may be tough, but using public transportation makes it easy. Our waitress was so attentive and everything came out in lightening fast speed! Very impressed. Overall, it's a pretty great place to get some great food. However, if you're coming in hungry, be ready for the small portions and steep pricing. My friend and I ordered quite a lot of food, therefore I was full. However, you may still be hungry even if you order one app + one plate of an entree/person.

Yelp
First off everyone who lives in the south end with a stoller needs to boycott this restaurant. We walked in at 11:30 on a Sat afternoon and the place was empty. The manager told us we could not have the stoller in the restaurant. We explained that we had been there last week and the stoller wasn't a problem to which he started giving us a hard time. We have been to Zuma, Contessa, Abe & Louies, and on and on and NEVER has anyone ever said we werent welcome with a stoller. He gave us bull crap about fire codes to which I checked and there is no fire code violation. It was down hill from there. The only reason we stayed is because we had friends with us and it was rainy and cold and just around the corner from where we live. The drinks took forever (no they were not short staffed and no one else was there). The queso dip took 30 minutes was ice cold. They took it back and brought it back nuked and like rubber. DON'T GO!!!!!
