"The heart of this husband-and-wife operation is undoubtedly delicious, no-frills comfort food: Chili-cheese fries, Gulf shrimp quesadillas, and something called It's All Schnitz & Giggles (pork tenderloin, grits, and shrimp gravy). It's all served in a fun, low-key setting—it used to be a filling station back in the day—with the option to take your meal al fresco. The grass-fed burger (get it topped with bacon, eggs, cheese, homemade ketchup) is best washed down with a cold beer from the bar or a house-special “adult” soda. "
The Best Sauces, Condiments, and Dressings in New Orleans - Eater New Orleans
"With each burger at this local institution comes a rich, savory homemade ketchup and a cup of “agogo sauce,” which is a mayo mixture boosted by sambal chilis, garlic, and honey that compels you to dip everything but the straw in. The burgers — and most everything else on Cowbell’s menu — is outstanding as-is, but the agogo sauce is what the most memorable after walking out the door." - Chris Branch
The Best Fried Chicken Sandwiches in New Orleans - Eater New Orleans
"This lively, casual Riverbend spot excels at everything on the menu, and the crispy chicken sandwich is no exception. Fried chicken, applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, creamy slaw, and habanero-honey, it comes with a choice of soup, salad, or fries to help justify the $15.95 price. Only available during lunch, served Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m." - Clair Lorell
I was definitely belly happy to be back! Food was delicious, as it's always been! No indoor seating, but you can use the bathroom. Outdoor has 4 tables. Food arrives quickly. All staff are helpful & sweet, from the host, server, even staff inside ( first time a staff open bathroom door for me). I'm super happy Cowbell are able to reopen on their own terms. Wishing them much success. Also this is the very first time I didn't bring home leftover food! P.S. I forgot to mention how I want my burger cooked.. but the cook knew exactly how I wanted it! I've always recommended Cowbell as my favorite New Orleans burger place & is the only place I would allow myself to order a rare 🍔 cheeseburger!

What a fun find! Happened to stumble on this place while exploring the area. It was an off time, so the place was almost empty. Super friendly staff! They had no problems answering questions and letting us modify dishes. The food was amazing! Its great to find a place that still makes food like they care. So many places just crank out food as fast as they can to turn tables over so they can make more money. Cowbell takes the time to make well crafted meals. Savor every bite. It’s delicious. That Mac and cheese is to die for.

This is a delightfully funky place with amazing food and friendly efficient staff. We savored the chicken and arugula salad (chock full with candied pecans, goat cheese, and other veggies; and the Friday special: redfish and shrimp burger served with a side of their light and flavorful shrimp chowder. They have a full bar and a great selection of beers. You must try the Cowbell.

I've been on the quest to find my favorite foods in New Orleans- mac and cheese, tacos, and burgers. I kept getting recommendations for Cowbell for all three. I tried to keep my expectations low. How could one spot excel in so much? I was blown away. The spot is small but unique, fun, and comfortable. The staff from the hostess, waitress, and bartender were all friendly and fantastic. It felt like being with friends. Friends that know the words to Queen songs! We shared the mac and it was outstanding. Sinfully thick and creamy with a hint of spice. I had the patty melt special and it was cooked to perfection. My mom had the carne asade tacos. They were tender and better than the 100s of taquerias Ive been to. I can't wait to go back!

We traveled from Massachusetts & are staying nearby. We were within walking distance and compared to the 18' back home it was warm out so it was a great walk. Everyone was so nice. Our waitress was amazing. Our son had the Mac & cheese which is made with 6 diff cheeses & he loved it. I had vegitarian quesadillas that had mushrooms in them that grew on corn per what the waitress told me and they were delicious. My husband had a burger with fries and said it was really good. The waitress went above & beyond and even gave us water to take back to our rental house because we didn't want to have to drive or walk around trying to find some. Went here for a lunch date with friends I hadn't seen in a while. Food was great; service was fantastic; and atmosphere was nice! Always check out the specials! I would've taken a picture of the blueberry nectarine pie, but it was eaten far too quickly.

This place never disappoints - funky joint with handmade from scratch food. Staff is always helpful and friendly and the food is top notch. Today we had a daily special that had a chicken breast on a biscuit with two fried eggs and dirty rice with a crawfish cream sauce. The pimento cheese / sausage fries are enough for a meal. And they always have PB Ripple for $2.50 an ice cold bottle.

This place is a hidden gem. It’s funky and eclectic with a menu that leaves you having to make tough choices. Mac and cheese was the best in. New Orleans. Hands down. We only ate sides while here because we did a progressive dinner - but I almost wish we had just ate everything from here including their homemade lemon ice cream with blueberry crumble. The people were incredibly attentive and was just an incredible dining experience. We ate outside in a covered area. You must try this!
