Cowford Chophouse

What a wonderful date night we had at Cowford Chophouse. We started the evening with a cocktail and appetizer on the rooftop. The service and salmon dip was on point up there. We moved down to the 2nd floor and continued by sharing the scallops and I had the most delicious lamb chops I’ve had since I was in Australia. My wife had the NY steak. Our server surprised us with a free dessert of our choosing since we were celebrating our 11Th anniversary. The ridiculous chocolate cake was delicious. All in all, we enjoyed our evening at Cowford and look forward to our next celebration there.

Went to the rooftop first since there was a wait for our table even though we had a reservation. About 20 minutes later, the hostess came up to the rooftop, but not for us. My friend asked the hostess if it’s ok if we come downstairs to dine a little later as we just ordered an appetizer. She said that was fine. We came downstairs about 30 minutes later and she said she forgot to tell us that we were already past our reservation time and so now the wait is around a half hour for a table. That was frustrating. It was a beautiful evening though, so it was nice to be outside and so we decided to just have dinner on the rooftop which had plenty of open seating. The salmon dip appetizer was tasty. The wedge salad seemed like the blue cheese dressing was a little watery, but overall still a good salad. The crab cakes had a good amount of lump crab meat in them, so I was happy with that. And the server on the rooftop was always pleasant.

Okay, it wasnt bad, let me start with that. It was pretty delicious. But was it 100/plate delicious? No way. We asked for a medium steak. My husband generally prefers medium well but knows thats sacrilege in a place like this and said medium. Came out medium rare at best. Its a 100 dollar steak! Cook it a few more minutes! The sides and drinks were average. We've been to several steak places just in Jacksonville that have far exceeded this place and the cost wasnt nearly so much. They also sat us right next to other couples when half the restaurant was empty....a little privacy would have been nice. And my husband sat in the outside chair and spent most of the meal being blinded by the fading sun. Very disappointed overall.

This is my second visit here. Came here last time for my birthday. Be prepared to spend some money. With drinks, appetizers and your meal, our bill for two people was $330. To counter this, this is one of the best steaks I ever had. Everything is delicious, the side dishes are shareable. The onion straws are a good choice and both the asparagus and potato Au Gratin were also a great choice, even the mix drinks were well balanced. The service here is exemplary! Your meal is brought out to every person by a server at the same time and placed in front of you simultaneously. Very classy. The server is always checking and attending to your table. I will definitely be a return guest, but just on special occasions due to the cost. That’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

I can confidently say Cowford Chophouse is a true gem in Jacksonville! The food was outstanding—my steak was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. But the real surprise was their cornbread dish—honestly the best I’ve ever had in the world. We decided to head up to the rooftop, and it was the perfect choice. The view of downtown Jacksonville is stunning, especially while enjoying their delicious drinks. Inside is just as beautiful, with an upscale yet welcoming atmosphere. Overall, this is a 10/10 dining experience that I’d recommend to anyone looking for great food, drinks, and vibes.

We had an excellent steak—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. The lobster bisque was absolutely incredible, rich and delicious. The cocktails were also amazing, beautifully made and very tasty. Highly recommend this place for a great dinner!

We recently hosted our company holiday dinner party here and it was an absolutely spectacular evening that exceeded all expectations. We booked it earlier in the year to secure our date and the Events Manager, Ben, was always quick to respond and professional. From the moment we arrived and directed to our private room by Andy until the last bite of Crème Brûlée for dessert, the experience was truly memorable, setting a high bar for our future celebrations. The service was simply outstanding. Our primary server, Ben, along with the entire service team, did a fantastic job of attending to our party of 14 guests. They were attentive and incredibly polite, making sure drinks were always refilled. This high level of hospitality truly elevated the evening. Cowford Chophouse provided an unforgettable dining experience for our holiday party. The combination of exceptional food (especially the filet mignon), a beautiful atmosphere, and impeccable service makes it a must-visit for any special occasion. We highly recommend them for your next corporate or private event.

Went for dinner last night! Excellent cocktails and incredible full service at the bar. The servers and bartenders were very attentive. Regarding atmosphere, it smells like sewage when you walk in. Overtime it faded/I acclimated but it’s a terrible first impression. The steak frites was extremely salty, I packed it up but even at home it’s inedible. To be a steak house that was a huge miss for me. The duck fat cornbread is delicious, wedge salad was good, excellent portions and the chocolate cake is yummy—and even better warmed up at home. Would recommend a warm chocolate dessert be added to the menu.

Having never catered a dinner for 25+ I had no idea how this would turn out!!! From my initial phone call to saying goodnight the evening of my event... the entire collaboration was SEAMLESS! The event coordinator was MORE than helpful; extremely gracious; one of the kindest individuals I've ever met! The menu choices were plentiful... appetizers to deserts! OH MY GOD... the wedge salad and filet mignon are both to die for! The wait staff that were chosen for my event were PERFECTLY chosen! They helped in every possible way they could from the moment I arrived to decorate all the way through until the last guest left. They even offered to help me pack up the decorations! Cowford chophouse should be anyone AND everyone's ONLY choice to host an event! It was my first choice and will be my forever go-to for ANY event! Complete perfection for a beautifully heartfelt occasion!

My wife and I took our Granddaughter and her boyfriend to dinner expecting food and service to be the best in Jax. It wasn't. I will try to give a fair review: Food:: We all had steaks except my wife. She ordered Risotto with Shrimp which was awful and looked like soup. The steaks were above average but not great. In fact Steaks.at both Capital Grill and Ruth Chris are better. We expected Cowford steaks to be great and best in Jacksonville. Service: started off great but our waitress disappeared mid meal and showed attention again toward bill time. Service at Capital Grill is better and attentive. Ruth Chris is about same as Cowford. Cowford needs to do something about the employees at the entrance check in podium. They stand around talking and finally get to customers. Ambiance: We were seated on the Second floor. I would rate Ambience as equal with Capital Grill and superior to Ruth Chris downtown and equal to the Pointe Vedra location. Overall: In the future when taking guests out to dinner, we will go to Capital Grill, in spite of traffic at Town Center.

Ambiance was awesome! Food was delicious! Service impeccable and prompt! I cannot wait to go back to visit this beautiful establishment!

Amazing vibes, food, and views. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Cowford Chophouse. While they don't require reservations, I highly recommend you book one if you want to visit because it was certainly busy on a Tuesday evening. Luckily, the weather wasn't too hot so we were able to grab a seat at the rooftop bar. From the appetizer, to my steak entree, to the dessert, the food was served fresh and was well seasoned. The bartenders (can't remember their names) were super nice and gave us some great recommendations! This place is definitely somewhere you want to check out!

Good and service is always great. Best steak in the area. We will definitely be back.

Went for Friday night dinner before Fl theater show. Seated on second floor as requested but 2 of seats faced due West and sun was imposing most of the meal even with shade drawn. Ordered a nice bottle of cote du Rhône red and Chardonnay. Very happy with wine list and selected wine. For appetizers had the raw oysters and corn bread - both good. Entrees - Ribeye, filet, American wagyu and double lamb chops. All delicious and properly cooked to order. Sides - Pimento Mac and cheese, au gratin potatoes and mushroom mix. The mushrooms and potatoes good. The Mac and cheese extremely dry. Service was good, with exception that waiter did not ask how we wanted bill and we were 2 couples. The seater did also offer both white and black napkins - which was appreciated.

Visited prior to a show in the Florida Theater, what an amazing view of Jacksonville from their rooftop. We were there early to enjoy happy hour bites and cocktails, but you can order from the restaurant menu in the rooftop as well. We ordered a variety of items, my favorite was the cornbread that comes with crab and crème fresh and fresh lobster, delicious! We also had the meatballs, oysters that were covered with pimento cheese and had a slight kick to them, so yummy! Super great service and nice menu, will definitely visit again soon!

We booked Cowford for New Year's Eve this year since we found ourselves staying in town and being responsible for my Dad. We were happy to get a reservation about a month out but did not realize you have to request the second floor dining as we had never done that and always had second floor seating. That was a big disappointment to all of us. The service was good and the food was prepared very well but the table on the bottom floor, next to the bar, which was super noisy was bad. It really annoyed my Dad who has dementia and bothered my husband and me too. Note to self and others request second level dining. The views and atmosphere are much better! The bread basket they bring out to start is awesome. We also had wine and beer. We had a wedge salad to start for hubby and me. We requested the bacon on the side as I don't eat meat. It's a great BIG salad. The guys had a filet, a new your strip, and I had the grouper. We also shared asparagus and French fries. Everything was delicious. This is a great old fashioned style steak restaurant but also offers seafood dishes. The sides are great and served family style for sharing. The restaurant is beautiful. They also have a rooftop bar. Reservations are definitely needed and dress to impress is our motto when we go. Enjoy.

Back at Cowford and this time to celebrate my birthday! I love the ambience of this restaurant, not only is the rooftop superb for photos - the dining room is modern and immaculate as well. My parents and I had a reservation for 6:45pm and sat on the second floor which overlooked the bar area and has a great view of the bridge. Our server was very attentive to our table and professional. For a Tuesday night, it was a packed house in the dining room and rooftop - so we really appreciated the attention to detail from our server. We ordered the duck fat cornbread and Cowford Rocks without bacon for our starters. These are my favorite appetizers hands down. The lump crab and lobster meat on top of the moist piece of cornbread is the perfect balance with flavoring and texture. The oysters are so plump and that pimento cheese adds that kick to pack in the flavor. For dinner, I ordered the rack of lamb that comes with mint jelly. I thought it was going to be small individual lamb chops, however to my surprise it was the lamb itself on my plate. I asked for medium plus temperature and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. They give you 3 big racks and the mint jelly is not too minty tasty but adding a sweetness to the lamb. This lamb didn't have that gamey taste that a lot of times lamb can have. For sides, the potatoes au gratin and roasted brussels sprouts were divine. No complaints at all. If you celebrate your birthday here - you get a dessert of your choice. I chose the cinnamon roll creme brulee. Something I haven't tried or seen and wow was it amazing. The cinnamon roll was fresh and the creme brulee was baked into the top of the roll. It also came with a caramel sauce drizzle and this was shared between myself and my parents. Overall, an amazing experience from the vibes, food, and service. I can't wait to come back, this is definitely one of the best steakhouses in Jacksonville!

Came for a birthday celebration. Reserved a table 4 weeks ago. The table for 4 they gave us was right next to the entrance. I asked the hostess for a better table and was told not any available. The first floor was 3/4 empty. We did have a very good meal and service was top notch. We ate ribeyes, New York Strip and a Sea Bass. All were cooked perfect and completely finished. The sides asparagus, truffle fries and baked potatoes. The baked potato stood out. The other 2 were just good. The Cesar and house salad was very good. Disappointed the Pistachio dessert was seasonal. We had a dessert that was good. The valet parking was quick and easy. Expect to spend $550 to $600 for 4.

We were late for our reservations due to traffic and the line for valet so leave early and if you're late call. Tara was our server and she was wonderful. The Gancia Moscato d'Asti was so delicious and so were the scallops. The Brussel sprouts with the bourbon bacon jam is really good. I'm not a fan of pimento cheese but the Mac n cheese was surprisingly delicious. The mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection. The lamb chops were very tender, the lobster tail and salmon were good. Definitely would come back.

Went on a Wednesday around 6. Seated on the main floor. Service was attentive. Allison K stopped by frequently and asked how things were and if we needed anything else. She also suggested entrees and answered all questions. The oysters were wonderful and fresh. The Filet Mignon cooked perfectly. The Chilean Sea Bass was also very good. Baked Alaska for dessert. It was different than expected, but good. A banana type cake with banana ice cream, plus on the side, a banana with hardened caramelized sugar on top. Expensive, but worth it.

Amazing experience. We've been meaning to do some fine dining, and this place served and delivered. The inside is absolutely beautiful! We waited on the rooftop for our table to be ready (and I'm a little unsure of the wait, as it wasn't full, but there were available seats. Maybe it's part of the experience to wait??) Our food was stellar. Perfect example of paying for a certain standard. The seafood tower was so good!! I will say the oysters were a little small, so that was disappointing, but the steamed option for all the items was perfect. The ny strip was so tender and cooked well, and the whipped potatoes were the best I've ever had! Amazing crème brûlée as well. The price at the end was defo high, we did get a few rounds of drinks and lots of food, but it was honestly worth it. If there's one thing to do in Jax, it's go to this restaurant!

We went here for our 30th wedding anniversary. It's valet parking which was quick and easy and the attendant was great. We came early in hopes of catching some drinks on the rooftop prior to our reservation. However, the rooftop was closed due to a private event. We were sat early and our server was great. They gave us some complimentary champagne for our occasion and a nice card. We had a nice corner booth on the main floor. There is a large bar on the main floor as well. They provide a nice basket of bread that contains a variety of choices. It was delicious. We ordered a French onion soup and salad to start which were delicious. I had the ribeye entree and my wife had the filet. Unfortunately, her filet was way overcooked. The kitchen did cook her another filet but it was a little undercooked. My ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium and was absolutely delicious! I will say that the pimento Mac and cheese was so good! The manager did comp some of our meal due to the overcooked steak which we did not ask for. The manager was on top of things and did an excellent job of making our experience great. Overall, I would recommend Cowfords and we will be back to hopefully enjoy the rooftop and a great meal.

Best oysters in Jacksonville-- I've tried them all. These taste the most clean + fresh. Decor is gorgeous, elevated ceilings. Staff are a DELIGHT. And the dinner service has always been a pleasure. We've been going here every week since we moved to the area, and we've never had a bad dish or drink. Incredible experience.

From the start the staff was top notch literally every single person was amazing. We came here to celebrate an anniversary and it was a great time. We started with a round of drinks upstairs before our reservation and ambiance is supreme. A great view from the roof and super cute decor. We got a hand written note for our anniversary which was a super cute touch and all the food was delicious. Yes, this is a higher dollar spot but it is worth it.

The four of us went on a double date to Cowford Chophouse. From start to finish everything was cooked to perfection. The Jaguar was my favorite drink. Their salads are large I recommend splitting them. My entrée was the American Wagyu Spinalis from Snake River Farms and Stefani had the same. This cut comes from the cap of the ribeye and is the most decadent treat a cow has to offer. It is a little hard to find. If you ever see one on a menu I would go for it! Chris & Nick shared the Tomahawk Ribeye. We're already ready for our next visit! As per usual when we all get together I do a terrible job with taking photos! This time five of us had dinner. We ordered two Tomahawk steaks and asked the kitchen to slice them, then we shared. With three sides we had plenty of food. We have learned that most steakhouses will slice steaks to share. There is no waste.

Excellent!!! I sat at the rooftop bar and enjoyed the happy hour drinks and some fresh oysters. I ordered the bone-in Ribeye which was delicious and cooked well. Definitely a place I would return and enjoy a fantastic meal. The bartenders were great and the view was amazing. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!!!

We came back after a pretty lackluster experience last time and things were totally back on track. Our dining experience was fantastic from start to finish. The meatballs with that cheddar recipe very were heavenly. The wedge salad was back to being perfect and one of the the best we've ever had. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and tasty. The cocktails (dirty cow and Negroni) were delicious. very happy!

The service was very professional, from the host to the server. The restaurant has an ambiance that is sophisticated yet welcoming. It is definitely "upscale" in terms of quality, expectations, & price. The food was fantastic! Everything had so much flavor. Don't hesitate to visit!

Great classy decor and interior. Rooftop was at capacity so we didn't have the opportunity to see the jewel of this place. Sat at the bar. Very good service. Had to try the duck fat cornbread. Have to be honest, wasn't all that. Filet was excellent. Extremely tender and perfectfully cooked. Added the truffle butter and went well with the garlic clove topping. Fish of the day, grouper, was prepared excellently and with great sauce and sides. Potatoes were very good. Mushrooms were just ok, a little dry. The must go-to in downtown Jacksonville.

Dropped in here for a beverage and some small bites at the rooftop bar prior to taking in a show at the Florida Theater. Great view of the Main Street bridge and ample open-air seating. Server Jason was super helpful and took great care of us. We sampled the beef skewers and sliders, along with bacon Brussels sprouts. Everything was cooked to perfection! Washed it all down with a glass of house cab, followed by an old fashioned for dessert. Can't wait to come back!

Good food at a classy place my first time there was for my daughter birthday and everything was excellent. My wife and I returned back for our anniversary and it was better than the first time. You cannot beat the Service that you receive from there it's top shelf.

It's was a hot summer day and my wife and I wanted to get dinner before the Yellowcard show at Daily's. We've lived in St. Aug for almost 4 years and we've never been to Cowford. We got there a little before our 5PM reservation so the dining room wasn't open for they encouraged us to go upstairs for a drink at the rooftop bar. It was nice up there but a little too hot at that time of day. The bar tender up there was also complaining a little about having to work up there instead of in the dining room. I would encourage you to take the stairs instead of the elevator. They have pictures of the rehab that was done to the building going up for flights. The show some of the cool stuff they found in old safety deposit boxes, how the place wax gutted and rebuild, how they maintained the original brick face, etc. They sat us on the first floor in the corner booth closest to Bay St. I had been on a plane all day so was looking for something refreshing to start with. I got the Strawberry basil lemonade. I liked it but I should have pretend I didn't. My wife snagged it so I had to order a new drink. it wasn't lite and not too sweet that it was a foofoo drink. For the second drink, I went with Seas the Day. Proceeds of this drink go to some charity which is why it has the Sea name. This drink was not nearly sweet. The rum has a distinct aftertaste. It wasn't bad. It was just different than anything I'd had before. I ordered the lamb. It was 4 huge double chops. Sometimes lamb chops can be over-seasoned but these were lightly seasoned. That's a great sign of a good cut. The mint they served with the lamb was homemade. If you go to one of those all you can eat Brazilian steak out, the serve straight up mint jello with lamb. This was legit mint sauce. I ate every last bite. It was delicious. My wife got the 8oz filet mignon. She started eating steak when I met her about 10 years ago. I wouldn't say she's picky but she knows which she does and doesn't like. She ordered Medium rare. This steak was probably close to medium. My guess is it was finished before my lamb chops so it might have sat in the window for a little bit too long. She said this steak tasted good but that she's had better. We got the Potatoes au gratin as our side. They come with crispy prosciutto and bread crumbs on top. I didn't really care for the prosciutto but the potatoes were good. If I didn't just eat those massive lamb chops I would have add more potatoes. Jon was our server. He was great. He gave thorough descriptions that covered all our questions. We are Friends of the Florida Theater so we're in the area often. I'm sure we'll go back to Cowfords at some point.

This was the start of our 20th anniversary celebration, the service and ambiance was amazing. This was first time in Cowfords and they did not disappoint the food was delicious from the lobster cornbread and fish and oyster appetizers to the main course. We will definitely be back to try more things on the menu.

Server was very attentive. Ambiance was nice. For an upper class steakhouse, reasonably priced all things considered. Steak was melt in your mouth good. Valet was very attentive and quick.

This is my go-to spot for celebrations and special occasions. My husband and I came for our anniversary dinner (again...) and left with happy and full hearts and stomachs. Excellent service, every time. It's very refreshing and I am always happy with our server and serve assistants. We were wearing dark clothing and they immediately swapped our white napkins for black, as soon as we were seated. Our drink orders were taken right away; our server brought over a complimentary glass of Prosecco for our anniversary which was much appreciated! We shared a Caesar salad, and of course feasted on the bread and butter. I had the filet mignon, medium, with bone marrow butter... OMG. I could eat a bowl of that butter by itself, it was out of this world. My husband had the ribeye, medium rare; it was slightly overdone and they took it back without hesitation and remade it. Because of this, the Front of House came over and apologized and also comped two of our drinks. It was very kind and we were very appreciative. Risotto for our shared side was DELICIOUS. I love the fun textures and flavors, sooooo good. Since it was our anniversary, we also got a dessert - the chocolate stout cake. PHENOMENAL. We didn't leave a single crumb on the plate... but we did take home some steak and risotto. Overall - a fantastic meal, with fantastic service and a fantastic atmosphere. Dress for the occasion and enjoy yourself, too!

I have to give this restaurant five stars, the food and the atmosphere alone are beyond five stars! To begin, valet parking is available. The building itself has a historical charm to it. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of all the menu items. We enjoyed sitting at the bar for our drinks and dinner. We ordered a few starters to start with, House-Made Meatballs with tomato sauce, white cheddar rice and parmesan, Crispy Fish & Oysters, and Roasted Bone Marrow. All three dishes were delicious. I ordered Wood-Fired Crab Legs as an entrée instead of a starter. My dinner companion ordered the 24 ounce Bone- in Ribeye Steak with an add on of bone marrow butter. CARLOS and CINDY took very good care of us and made our dining experience even more special. CARLOS made me the best Pain Killer cocktail I'd ever had. Overall we had a great experience today.

Nice Jax views from the roof top. Great interactions with wait staff who took care of dying outdoor heater in timely manner. The only downside was that we had to wait for our steaks for over an hour. We were never given an explanation of why it took so long.

We thought this was our best experience dining in Jax so far. Quality service, clear interior, easy to read menu: started off rooftop happy hour for some $7 drinks. Loved the steaks, sides and wine. The desserts didn't appeal to us so we skipped: I would return here again.

We started at the rooftop bar and o Got the jaguar and in the heat of the night(recommend). Then we headed downstairs and ordered wagu spinalas, NY strip, potatoes au gratin, and risotto. I would not recommend the risotto. We ended the meal with creme Brule (good).

Amazing happy hour with beautiful views from the rooftop. This is a great place to stop for after work drinks and a bite to eat. Their happy hour is great and the staff is very attentive.

I have always wanted to visit Cowford Chophouse, but I know that it has to be for a special occasion. Finally came our anniversary! First of all, you need to make a reservation. Don't worry about the parking as they have valet. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the hostess. The place is beautiful and everyone was dressed to the nines lol. I love the atmosphere and even though the restaurant is full of guests, it was not loud. Now for the food and drinks. I got the Danis Mule which is very refreshing and hubby had the Chai Bella which is actually a dessert drink but we both liked it! We had the following appetizers and entrees: House Made Meatballs- tasty, juicy meatballs and surprisingly big portion! She Crab Soup - so yummy! The server will pour the soup around the crab in front of you! Nice presentation! Bone-in Ribeye 24oz - as expected, it was humongous! Tender and so flavorful! Braised Short Ribs - another winner! It has Brussels sprouts, onion rings and creamy polenta. Delicious! We also had sautéed spinach and kale plus asparagus for our sides. Both complemented the steak. And lastly, dessert was their famous Pistachio Baked Alaska, complimentary (thank you!) It's a combination of cake, ice cream, meringue and pistachio. So good! Great food and service! Highly recommended!

The environment was gorgeous! I kept finding myself staring at the beautiful arched windows between courses. The service was absolutely wonderful. We had a rather large party(8 people) which can be hard to balance but not for them. All our dishes were spot on, the gentleman who waited on our table was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I was impressed with their precision on serving all of our food at the exact same time. And the food was memorable. I have had the privilege of eating some culinary masterpieces and this was up there. Here's the breakdown of what our table ordered. We were given a starter bread basket with these scrumptious cheddar drop biscuit balls, a nice crisp, and I believe a chive butter. For starters we ordered a smoked salmon dip, two meatballs, and two duck cornbreads. My two personal best bites were the cornbread with a bite of the lobster on top, and the meatball with the delicious white cheddar rice middlins which was very reminiscent of a risotto. The smoked salmon deserves a mention too, I'm personally not a fan of salmon or salmon dip but it was so smokey I actually enjoyed it. Several of my colleagues ordered soup, their choices were the corn bisque and the French onion. I will say if had several stomachs I would have ordered the French onion, I was offered a bite and is was scrumptious. While waiting for our entrees I also enjoyed a gentle giant, it was refreshing and not too booze forward which I appreciated. Our entrees were absolutely mouthed watering. The two I won't forget were mine and my friend sitting next to me. I ordered a bone out ribeye medium rare with the bone marrow butter on top, and my friend ordered the w-5 Satsuma Wagu medium with the Oscar add on. Hers quite literally melted in your mouth, if you ever have the opportunity to order Wagu do it. My ribeye had beautiful marbling and was perfectly seasoned. Because we had a large party so we decided to get sides for the table. We went with the risotto, potatoes au gratin, asparagus, pimento Mac and cheese, whipped potatoes, and creamed corn. I personally will be dreaming of that risotto which had these luscious oyster mushrooms hidden under some frisée. The pimento Mac and cheese was also a table favorite, I'm become a believer that pimento belongs is all Mac and cheese now. Last but not least our desserts. Several of us got crème brûlée which was the traditional one and is always a favorite of mine. Two of our ladies were very excited about the Baked Alaska but unfortunately they were sold out, they went with the vanilla pana cotta with a mango sorbet. The sorbet was amazing, the pana cotta was good but they ended up eating more of my crème brûlée instead. The cheesecakes were really fun; they were whipped and lightly sharp with a peach compote on top, which was really balanced. The shocker for me was the chocolate stout cake, I'm personally not a fan of chocolate cake at all and neither were a few of my table mates. However that was the best chocolate I have ever had, it was so light and we were all pleasantly surprised. I also had an espresso martini with my dessert which was STRONG but delicious. Overall it was quite an experience and I will definitely be back.

I was skeptical after reading some of the recent reviews, but once seated, I knew things were going to be good. My steak was seasoned, and cooked to perfection salmon was cooked and seasoned tastefully. Great food,service, and attention to detail. We were given complimentary champagne and dessert a pleasant surprise. I am looking forward to the rooftop bar on our next visit.

The Cowford is a beautiful place- well decorated and the hosts/ waiters are very professional. We stopped by after a play and we were early. They accommodated a bunch of us and let us sit at the bar. So nice. We had a recommendation from our Uber driver so we were excited to try this place. But the food and drinks were just ok. My friend had a margarita and she hated it. I had a mimosa and the Prosecco was way too sweet. I had the French onion soup and it was ok. I also had a small dinner salad. Originally I had asked for steak or chicken on my salad in lieu of soup/ salad. They were going to charge me for an entire entrée on top of the salad!!! I don't mind an up charge but an entire entree? For dessert we tried their cinnamon roll thing and the icing had no taste. The roll was about three inches tall and not tasty at all. We had high hopes but it just fell short :((

Triple date night to celebrate our anniversaries. Delicious food from appetizers to desserts. Appetizers - House made meatballs, Crispy fish and Oysters, Tuna Tartare, she crab soup Mains - Braised Short Rib, Bone-in Ribeye Dessert - Complimentary dessert of our choice for our anniversaries. We had the Pistachio Baked Alaska paired with not latte. Also had a taste of chocolate ganache cake and cheesecake. Great service from our head server (Devon?) and his team. He's friendly and accommodating. Also, our food was served with military precision. From appetizers through desserts, plates were placed synchronously. Afterwards, we went upstairs to take some quickie pics. It was a little windy and chilly that night, but worth it. Tip: Complimentary valet parking is available

Took my husband for his birthday last year and the service was incredible. The food was better with each and every bite. we sat on the rooftop and had a gorgeous view of the jax skyline. We even had complimentary champagne from our waitress at the end of the night. I personally think this is my favorite steak house in all of jacksonville.

Exceptional meal with incredible service. They went out of their way to make our anniversary meal so memorable.

Went there for a business related dinner and they had made a reservation for ten people. We had eleven and apparently that have some sort of rule at this restaurant about their seating that they could not accommodate the 11th person at our table. Either by one side of the table agreeing to squeeze in, for another person or at one of the ends. The food and service were otherwise outstanding and the rooftop bar added a nice touch for meeting up before the dinner. I had the American Wagyu filet with peppercorn seasoning and it was really good. Although it was a bit unsettling for the group that some of our party had no other option than to sit separately from the rest of us at the bar. Prices were a bit high and the food was really good, but don't count on what seems like a reasonable accommodation if you wind up with an extra person.

I have been stopping by the Cowford Chophouse rooftop weekly ever since my best friend had a small get together here for her birthday a little while back. I just fell in love with it that night and can't stop coming. The cocktails, the food and especially the service are out of this world! Usually I stop in during happy hour (4-7pm) and enjoy some of their discounted appetizers and cocktails... but it's hard to stay away from the regular cocktail and wine menu. My favorite so far is a tropical, tiki style rum cocktail appropriately named 'the Jaguar!' (See photo) I've snacked on a few things here but some notable items include their shrimp cocktail and certainly the steak tartare which was absolutely delicious. I have tried many around town and this one was by FAR my favorite. The full menu is served upstairs on the rooftop but I've not yet tried anything beyond the appetizers... I will certainly update my review when I branch out into the entrees and I am looking forward to it. They have some amazing seafood and steak selections! I may have to splurge on a fancy steak sometime soon. Cheers!

Our evening out started at the Cowford Chophouse, first reservations are a must for weekends. Our meals, grouper for me and short ribs for my wife were outstanding. Before dinner we had drinks on the rooftop bar while waiting for our table. Service was excellent and our waiter spent time with us reviewing the menu and the evening's specials. Large portions left little room for desert so we split a cheese cake with coffee. On a warmer day we might have chosen to eat on the rooftop and enjoy looking out over the city. But the dinning room was very nice and quiet. Yes it's a bit on the expensive side, however well worth it.

From the very first bite of bread to the cheesecake dessert, this meal was outstanding. Every protein was cooked to perfection. We tried an assortment of entrees but do not leave without a steak. Hands-down, a superb meal. Sides are served family style and the Au Gratin potatoes are a must. We enjoyed a bottle of wine from an impressive wine list, that was a new release from one of our favorite wine makers in Oregon, Ken Wright. We were thrilled to see it on the list. The food was outstanding, and the service was top notch, making this an elegant, delicious, and classy experience.

My husband took me here for a celebratory dinner and we had a five star experience! Wish we lived closer because I could see us coming here frequently. We were seated at a nice private-ish table by the windows and our server Jason was extremely attentive the whole meal, and helped us select off of the large menu. We started with cocktails (I had the strawberry basil lemonade) and a basket of fresh bread baked in house- delicious and so much variety! Next we had shrimp cocktail and the shrimp were grilled which was awesome and gave them good flavor. We got wine with our dinner consisting of the sea bass (melt in your mouth delicious with a crunch on the outside, sitting in lobster bisque. This is a must order- trust me!), New York strip (perfectly cooked and juicy), the highly recommended potatoes au gratin (huge portion and insanely tasty), and the spinach and kale (had to get something with veggies- loved how this wasn't smothered in a cream sauce like a lot of other steakhouses). we had a delicious meal, unique cocktails, amazing service, and an overall great experience. This is the place to go for a celebratory event!
