I have been here several times already and each and every time it has been delicious food and wonderful service! You feel like family when you dine here. The fried chicken is crispy and juicy! The rotisserie chicken is tender and juicy! They know their chicken for sure! Cornbread, Mac and cheese, waffles 😋🥰! Their special filipino feasts are excellent and a great way to share a meal with friends and family. Love the owners and the staff❤.

Hands down, the best fried chicken in Chicago- crispy skin and juicy on the inside! We came here with a group of friends and had such a great meal. The owners are so accommodating and made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. Other must try's- Buffalo Mac & Cheese and the Hummingbird cake!

Incredible! Chicken is so juicy and packed with flavor. Don't usually like coleslaw but it had flavor here and perfect balance. Owner and son I believe run a welcoming restaurant, can't wait to return.

The chicken was really good, liked the flavor on it. The cornbread tasted like a corn tortilla with no flavor. And the caramel cake tasted extremely dry felt like a brick.

We ordered the crazy bird sandwich and the grilled chicken ciabatta sandwich. The grilled chicken was dry, ciabatta bread was hard, the condiments were not tasting good and overall hard to eat. The crazy bird barely had any meat on it. The only saving grace was the sides. The sweet potato and the Mac and cheese were pretty good. If you want good chicken go to Fry the Coop nearby. I will not be going back.

Fried Chicken & sweet potatoes were good. The Mac & Cheese was a HUGE miss. Definitely would not recommend if you like soupy mac.

It was our first time visiting this neighborhood gem and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful, the portions were generous and the service was attentive. The owners are right there to welcome you and make recommendations. It felt homey and welcoming. We had the combo with the beef ribs, pulled chicken and smoked sausage with fries and coleslaw. The beef ribs were outstanding. The pulled chicken was delicious as were the piping hot, crispy, well-seasoned fries. We also ordered the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese - delicious! We'll definitely be back to try their pulled pork, fried chicken and brisket.

I'm always on the quest for perfect fried chicken and I may have just found it. We drove from Indiana and it was well worth it. I have never had fried chicken so juicy,flavorful, and fried to perfection. I also had the greens,sweet potatoes, and macaroni and they were absolutely delicious. My husband had the chicken sandwich and it was humongous and packed with flavor. My little one's had chicken strips that were humongous as well. They are picky eaters and they gave their stamp of approval and even said they can't wait to come back🥰. The fries were perfect (I mean PERFECT). I also got a slice of hummingbird cake and it was UNBELIEVABLE 😍😍😍. The lady at the counter was super, super friendly and made us feel right at home. She was picking greens and it just made me think of my childhood 🥰. This place is family friendly and truly a treasure. I can't wait until next time. Review for carryout food: Potatoes were soft and Coleslaw on point. Chicken was juicy. My favorite part was actually the tasty, crispy skin. Its not as much batter like Church's or Popeyes both of which I like. But it's easy to peel off this crispy skin and it's so delicious. The Special Caramel Cake is just vanilla cake with caramel frosting. It wasn't dry or moist so not bad. I'd skip it. Staff was friendly.

I visited this restaurant while they were on California & Roosevelt. I enjoyed the chicken and truffle fries 100%. The truffle fries were a welcome change for the Westside. I'm hopping they bring them to this new location. New location: is spacious, beautifully filled with wood finishing and the chicken wings are WHOLE not wingettes, and they are fresh as all get out. One con I am going to request next time is more Lemon pepper on my chicken I hardly tasted it. Warning: Don't expect to walk in, grab and go I believe the food is cooked to go, BUT worth the wait. I wasn't a fan of the fresh cut fries some were cut to thin while others were meaty enough. The mac n cheese is very cheesy but need a touch of salt added to the boiling water. The corn bread is AMAZING, I don't have to have Jiffy Crazy Bird corn bread is buttery, light and fluffy I ate mine by itself. I would order a half dozen if they had a price for it but it's price 2/$3.50. Well worth it. As you can see I tried quite a bit of food and my spouse and I was pleased, let's talk about deserts. As for deserts we ordered the lemon, caramel and Hummingbird cake. YUMMY for my tummy, moist, fresh and on point with sweetness. I will be back

I really enjoyed this place! I split a "whole chicken" which was 8 pieces. We got half seasoned with lemon pepper and the other half with bbq. I liked the dry lemon pepper seasoning because the skin stayed crispier, but the bbq was still good. I also got to try some of my friend's buffalo sauce which wasn't too spicy but had a nice kick to it. The chicken came on a plate of fries and toast at the bottom. PSA: it's also a BYOB! The only negative thing I have to say is that we ordered some sides that almost ammounted to the same cost as the chicken itself. We got an order of cornbread, which came with two pieces and ended up being kind of dry, and the vegetable of the day, which turned out to just be a stalk of broccoli that was seasoned with garlic ($4). It did have good flavor but wasn't worth the price. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for the fried chicken!

It's 3 pm and it's snack time. I accompanied Ollie to buy snacks for takeout. We came here after 10 minutes driving. It was a small place but had a clean surrounding. As we enter, staff accommodates us. She told us their best selling and special food.  We ordered a Special 7 oz. Crazy Bird Sandwich with fries, Mac n cheese, Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders, Rotisserie Chicken, Special Caramel Cake, sweet potato and coleslaw. Staff lead us to the table while waiting for our order. Were not bored while waiting for our order because they have a flat screen tv on the wall to watch some movies or news.  The inside of this place was empty when we came here so the service was too quick. My co worker likes the food so much. They definitely want to order again.The food at Crazy Bird is exceptional! Very tasty and well prepared and you can choose among many menu options.

This place is awesome. The woman cooking is the real deal. As a southerner living in Chicago this place is a yes from me. Support this business!

Fast delivery, good price, salty chicken, good fry, delicious cole slaw. If they eased up on the salt this would have been a 5 star.

This place is major trouble and big problems. CB has been on my list for ages and I just never made it, till I did last night. The food, EVERYTHING was phenomenal. Fried chicken - Big pieces, specifically the thigh, leg and wing were pretty large as was the breast, but often you get thighs and legs that just aren't thicc. Deliciously seasoned and moist, this is where I'm going when I want fried chicken. Sweet potatoes, collards, and mac also excellent and perfectly cooked. Collards were the best I've had, I often get disappointed when I've ordered it at other spots. Chicken also came with perfect little rolls, much better than when I get chicken with a slice of white bread, no thank you. Finally the caramel cake was also delicious. It's pound cake with a sweet caramel icing and reminded me of Entenmann's pound cake which we had often growing up. The space is empty for takeout and delivery only, and I had no issues with feeling like it wasn't covid safe. Go there.

Man. What a gem. What a delight. Was not expecting to be impressed by something I've been eating and preparing my entire life...Chicken!! Hands down some of the best yard bird this side of heaven! Amish chicken!

Man I don't know where to start. The sweet potatoes were as clumpy and unseasoned as you can get. Please cook the seasoned potatoes longer and throw some brown sugar and cinnamon, it would go a long way. For the Mac n cheese... everything was out the box, nothing was homemade with that and it was disappointing because I thought the brand image the restaurant was trying to put out there that they were a soul food/southern comfort establishment. The Mac n cheese and sweet potatoes are the staple sides of any southern comfort food establishment, and if you miss there, you're missing everywhere. The chicken was okay. A bit greasy but was tasteful. Step up on the sides and you're good to go.

Loved this place! Food was really good and the staff very friendly and personable. I ordered the whole wings with honey chipotle sauce and fries. The chicken was hot and crispy. Seasoned very well and a perfect match with the sauce. The fries were seasoned as well and surprisingly good. Surprisingly, because a fry is a fry so I was very surprised. They were hot and seasoned well. The staff consisted of a husband, wife and son. They were so cute and made a very good impression on us. The husband and wife both came over and made sure to engage us in conversation, even took interest in my special needs son. I'll definitely visit again and would definitely encourage everyone else to as well. Great establishment!!

Amazing chicken spot off grand in river west. Their sauces and chicken are both amazing! Loved the Korean sauce with the chicken and bbq sauce with the fries. You won't be disappointed if you loved Korean fried chicken style!

Outstanding service and a great meal! I was looking to cure my fried chicken sandwich craving without waiting in a crazy long line and decided to support this local Black-owned business-- it did NOT disappoint! From walking in the door, the restaurant is clean, modern, and welcoming. Big smiles and hellos came from the two cashiers and they walked me through ordering the most popular dish, a crazy bird sandwich. With guidance from the staff, I ordered a crazy bird sandwich with honey chipotle sauce, cheddar cheese, and bacon.. a side of fries & mac n cheese.. a lemon sweet tea.. and, get this, a slice of caramel pound cake! I was in HEAVEN! The chicken breast on the sandwich was large, juicy, and crispy. The honey chipotle sauce was sweet with a subtle kick. The fries were fresh. Tea was southern sweet (and I'm from Texas!). And that pound cake.... crazy good! The portions are enough for a meal and a half, easily. Plus, knowing the chicken is responsibly sourced makes it that much better. Overall, an outstanding experience from start to finish. Such a hospitable and friendly staff as well. I will DEFINITELY be back to Crazy Bird!

Perfectly fried chicken! All the trendy hipster driven fried chicken stands need to take a lesson from my new pal Larry. Stop double battering and throwing fifty spices on your chicken. Larry keeps it simple and it's exactly how it should be. Crispy, moist and seasoned simply. I did feel the sides were sub par but they won't prevent me from coming back.

Whoa ...Crazy Bird is Crazy Good! Seriously! I wish I had taken pictures to share all the goodness, but the absolutely perfectly brined fried chicken didn't stand a chance! The smell was so enticing I decided to try a tiny bit in the car, and the rest never made it home. If there is one thing in life that I am 100% passionate about it's Fried Chicken. I think anyone who knows me would include that in their description of me. I am willing to try fried chicken anywhere and everywhere but have low expectations for most new places that I try as my standards are high. Always skeptical of places that claim to be the best in biz. Anyways, was skeptical about Crazy Bird until I finally tried. Oh lawd! So glad I gave them a try because Im an instant believer, and there's no turning back. The seasoning is simple--nothing crazy--but seasoned exactly how fried chicken should be. Despite the minimal breading, the skin was still ultra crispy! What I can say they pour their heart and energy into is the brine. Upon first bite, all of the juices came out, and the meat was just so perfectly moist. You won't get dry fried chicken here! Every bite was just so heavenly. I simply cannot wait to have more. Also got the half rotisserie. Was good but I have to say that the fried chicken was the winner of them all! Run here, do not walk!

Oh man this place is good. Fried, tenders, wings, and rotisserie were all very juicy and full of flavor. The Nashville hot is pretty good. Hand cut french fries. This is now my go-to chicken spot in Chicago It's a newer place and they're still working out the kinks, but once you learn how to navigate the menu, you'll find yourself back for more.

The owner, Larry Ticker, was featured on WGN's Chicago's Best & the food looked amazing. So, we decided to make the 45 minute trip. BOY WAS IT WORTH IT!! The chicken was amazing!! It was seasoned to perfection & drizzled with their famous honey-chipotle sauce. Mmmmmmmmm Good!!! Larry is so nice. He checked on all of his dine-in customers to make sure that we were satisfied. His kindness made the experience well worth the trip. Oh! You also have to try the corn muffins, mac & cheese, cole slaw, & for dessert a slice of the lemon pound cake & a slice of the caramel pound cake. Can't wait to visit again!! P.S. The food was so good, we forgot to take pictures. LOL!

Yum! The chicken: seasoned very well and not too greasy. I have nothing bad to say about this chicken and cannot wait to try it again. The French Fries: SOOOO good. they were those darker handcut type fries (my favorite). You probably will not enjoy them if you like overly processed fries that are pre-frozen. If you're a purest, these are the fries for you! Macaroni and Cheese: Not good. Tasted suspiciously life Kraft (TM) Chicken Sandwich: I didn't enjoy the sweet sauce that my husband selected on it (so watch out for the chipotle one if you don't like sweet on your savory), but it was still very well done other than this. Lemon Pound Cake: Slap Yo' Mama good. Honestly, I did not have high expectations for cake at a chicken place but I was blown away. The portion was huge and I will definitely be ordering myself another one.

Want to eat amazing fried chicken / comfort food in a warm (hospitable) environment? Then, look no further because Crazy Bird is that restaurant. It is awesome from the food to the restaurant staff/owners! I cannot gush enough about my experience here. I have never felt so welcome at a restaurant with the owners coming out several times during a cold weather day to check on my party and taking care of our needs. They were so warm and friendly by introducing themselves and even their son to us and making that extra effort to connect with their customers. I came here with a few people and was able to get a reservation in their patio seating by calling in with my reservation details. Note that reservations are first some first serve so call fast! When we arrived at the restaurant, everything was set up and the owner's wife immediately came to greet us and made us feel so welcomed. We were supposed to go inside to order but she was so nice and came out to take our orders, saving us that trip inside. The owner (chef) also came out several times to check in on us and asked how the food was. The other owner also came out to help clear dishes and check that we had everything we need. What an amazing experience! The food here is delicious and I cannot wait to come back / order delivery from here again. The fried chicken is a must get but really, the entire menu looks pretty awesome including the ribs. We had come to get brunch and was able to try a few brunch menu items like the chicken (3 pieces of chicken wings) and waffles and brisket hash. I loved the chicken and waffles dish - the chicken was perfectly fried and crispy and the waffle was crispy but still soft inside. Some fried chicken places make their fried chicken with quite a bit of breading and I am not a fan of that. Crazy Bird uses less breading and flavors the chicken with lots of spices so you will experience an extra crispy exterior with perfectly seasoned and moist chicken inside. Their drinks selection is also very good and affordable - $20 for a mimosa pitcher is a steal! The sangria looked really good too and the owner (chef) actually came out to tell us that he makes that fresh and adds a bit of port into the sangria making it even tastier. Come here for brunch, lunch and dinner - you won't go wrong!

I have been here before Covid and I have been here during. Crazy Bird is the top of the coop. This small family owned business works in the fashion of that old school business common sense; known as customer service. When you come in the door you're greeted by one of the family. Introduced to the family present, and told his wife may be missing but you'll meet her next time. Here recipes and secrets abound , mostly bragging rights of what makes their chicken better than others. Having met the owner, his wife and kids you can definitely see the pride in their establishment, beaming from the cleanliness to the wonderful taste of the food. Pro tip... hummingbird cake... trust in this.

I absolutely love this place. Chicken in here are so good and the prices are fair and reasonable. Staff are also nice and friendly. I am not familiar with the place until a friend brought me here. My first time was great and I enjoyed their food that is why I always chose to go in here whenever I wanted chickens. Highly recommended!

Normally I don't bother writing reviews, but this place deserves the recognition. The food, especially the fried chicken is amazing. The owner though, is a great guy. He genuinely cares about the customer experience and that people enjoy the food. If he's not working the kitchen himself, he's out there checking in with the customer - making sure everything is as good as he intended it to be. Honestly the only thing I don't care for this place is the mac n cheese - just not my style. I recommend the cornbread instead.

Some of the best fried chicken I've had in Chicago. Despite getting Crazy Bird for takeout, the chicken was hot and juicy with just the right amount of crispy batter. You can't go wrong with anything here. The mac n' cheese is also heavenly. This is our new go to fried chicken place!

Since I haven't eaten a breakfast yet I decided to come here. I only have 1 hour left and I hope they have quick service. So I order 5 wings and Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese. I only waited for about 10 minutes before my order came. The waiter is so nice. 5 Wings is come with ranch or blue cheese dip or your choice of tossed sauce plus carrot or celery sticks: BBQ, Buffalo, honey chipotle, Korean, Tennessee hot preparation additional charge. Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese is their home made Mac and Cheese with a combination of buffalo sauce, chicken, additional cheese and spices. I like the 5 wings since its flavorful and savoring. Its seasoning is almost perfect. I'm glad that I came to this place. I definitely come back here again.

Best chicken in Chicago, hands down. From the wings, to the sandwich, the chicken is fireee. I got the 2 piece chicken and 2 sides and boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich and wings. The sides of Mac and cheese and sweet potatoes were amazing. I would recommend absolutely everything but the cornbread. Cornbread was bland and not my favorite, but everything else was delicious. Super reasonably priced also. Under $25 for dinner and sides is always a win.

Overall really disappointed after reading such positive reviews Chicken sandwich - bread was great, siracha mayo was tasty but there was hardly any on the sandwich. The CHICKEN was dry, bland, and the exterior was a bit soggy Mac and cheese was very bland Fries were soggy, but had potential if they weren't so droopy Part of my order was missing. Won't be returning.

I wanted to love this place i had wanted to try it since chicagos best I finally made it today I was sorely disappointed...upon entering a stench fills restaurant either rotten chicken or a backed up sewer smell...I wanted to leave but hoped for the best..there was a lady wca dog in a wagon that worked there my chicken was overcooked and smelled off or not fresh and was stringy and gummy fries had a fuzzy lint or hair in them red beans and rice didn't taste fresh and French fries had an off smell from fryer grease. I would never return here sadly

Ordered online and the food was not ready until 30 minutes after receiving the "your order is ready for pickup" email and text. I don't know who the reviews are coming from. The chicken was soggy and flavorless. It was literally the worst fried chicken I've ever had. I'd go to McD in a heartbeat if I had known just how bad it was. The fries were bland and Mac and cheese was just sad. The coleslaw was good though, had a nice crisp texture. This is the worst fried chicken spot in the city in my opinion.

We came across this place in our quest to only support local, independantly owned restaurants during the COVID crisis. The fried chicken was exceptional, super crispy, moist & full of flavor. We had four sides with our meal & the collard greens were by far my favorite. It's actually a great value for the quality of the food. Do yourself a favor & spring for the Hummingbird cake, it's CRAZY delicious! It's meant for 2 to share but I won't make that mistake again & get one just for myself. I would even go as far as eating the cake alone in my car before entering the house with the food.

If you are in a hurry, you should order ahead. It took about 15 minutes for my order because they started making it after I placed the order. Which is why it was so good! Two plump chicken thighs with a side of cole slaw was very satisfying! I will be back!

I ordered the Special 7 oz. Crazy Bird Sandwich Deluxe, delivered by Grubhub. * Honey Chipotle Sauce "less sauce" This meal should come with fries and coleslaw. At first, I thought the coleslaw would be inside the sandwich, but it was not- basically, the restaurant forgot to give me the coleslaw (it was not inside the container). The chicken was pretty dry, and I think they might have forgotten the honey Chipotle sauce too? I loved the fries, and they were in huge quantities.

Favorite fried chicken sandwich in Chicago! So tasty, I loved it. Service was great, food was fast and the chicken is phenomenal! Highly recommend!

After some family time in the City my family and I decided we wanted to try a new place in the city. I found this restaurant on yelp and after looking at the menu decided this would be the perfect place to try and I'm so glad we did. We placed our order with a young man he was super helpful, and the presentation of the food made us feel like family. We had the 8pc Chicken with Mac-n-cheese, Fries, and Potatoes as well as Korean wings and Buffalo wings everything tasted home made and I gotta say the chicken was phenomenal!! This fried chicken is life changing! The owners and staff were super sweet and very nice. I highly recommend checking this place out! Did I mention they have an incredible brunch menu on Sundays?!?! My family and will definitely be back. Loved every bite!

4.5/5 stars... Found Crazy Bird on a google search on the way home from skating at Maggie Daley. Super yummy! The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Even my picky 4 yo devoured 2 pieces. The cole slaw was delicious and the fries were fresh cut with the perfect seasoning. Wish we tried a third side. The chef was plating some sort of pot roast and spinach casserole meal that looked and smelled phenomenal. The mango ice tea wasnt what i was expecting and wasnt my favorite - hence the 4.5 rating... the food though was perfect.

Wow. Just wow. I've ordered from Crazy Bird many times. It has always been really great! Today I ordered. It wasn't just great, it was the best chicken I've had in my life. I ordered the Nashville hot rotisserie style. The heat/sweet balance was perfect. Sides (mac, collards, slaw, corn muffins) all perfect. As a staunch atheist, ya'll had me thinking God does exist and working in your kitchen. After taking a bite, I had to sit down for a minute. Whoever was working in the kitchen around 4pm today needs a hefty raise. Thank you a thousand times for the brilliant dinner!

I decided to try the Crazy Bird on 6/27/21 after I saw the owner Larry Ticker on WGN Chicago's Best I tried the Chicken Wings with Collard Greens and Cole Slaw and I did enjoy the meal I also got a chance to talk with the Owner who was very nice along with his staff. I am going to share my experience there with my friends I do recommend the Crazy Bird to others. Sandy

This place was great! Lovely and helpful customer service even right before close. My friends and I really enjoyed the party wings! My favorite sauce was the chipotle honey. Yuuummmmm!

Placed a large order for work. Missing food, poorly packaged, received someone else's order. Called location for help, blame was placed on doordash. Not one attempt to rectify, no concern, just an entire conversation of the owner of crazy bird projecting the mishaps on doordash.

Can only say great things about this place. Friendly service, perfect chicken - this is our go-to spot! Easily the best friend chicken place in Chicago, and way better than most of the trendy chicken spots out there. I can't say enough about that chicken though. They have some secret fried chicken magic. The chicken is always perfectly seasoned, moist on the inside, crispety crunchety on the outside. Breading is never soggy and NEVER falls off. True fried chicken expertise. And don't forget the sides. The Mac and cheese is amazing + collard greens + the coleslaw are my favorites.
