The 25 Best Restaurants In Alameda - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The one-block radius around this French bakery on Park Street perpetually smells like butter and sugar, which is the first reason why Crispian draws pastry fanatics daily from all over the island. The second is that everything coming out of the oven—from croissants and epi baguettes to chocolate chip cookies—is guaranteed to be the best thing you eat for at least two to three business days. Stop in to fill a to-go box before a picnic at Crown Beach, or spend a slow morning sipping on a cappuccino from one of the little tables inside." - julia chen 1, lani conway

The Best Bakeries in the East Bay | Eater SF

"Alameda’s best bakery comes from pastry chef Beth Woulfe and baker Christian Fidelis de Goes, industry vets who met while working at Bouchon Bakery in New York. Breakfast pastries particularly sing here, but the breads, cookies, and French-style desserts all measure up, too." - Dianne de Guzman

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Alameda | Eater SF

"The goods at this bakery are distinctly European influenced, and distinctly delicious. Crusty loaves and croissants are expected at any bakery, but Crispian’s lighter-than-air pastries set them above all the rest. Find classics like pain au chocolat or pain au raisin, but also savories like bechamel and tomato sariette, plus a spinach and feta version. Seasonal fruit pies and tarts, cookies, cakes of many sizes, as well as special orders are all worth investigating." - Meleyna Nomura

I used to love this bakery. I visited yesterday and got an apple slice $7.50 for one piece ($1 is tip). I cut it in half and had half yesterday. I thought the dough must have been overworked because it was so flat. Then I got sick all night until this afternoon. I open the container where I had put the other half and with bright daylight I couldn’t believe my eyes… the dough is raw 😣 completely raw. I won’t shop here again. There are plenty of good bakeries around, go somewhere else! Bad job, Crispian bakery!!

Ordered a 6 inch triple chocolate mousse cake for my husband’s birthday. There was a slight mess-up with finding my order at pick-up but was quickly resolved. Cake is any chocolate lover’s dream but we wished it had more cake vs icing/filling..seems like smaller cakes have a thin layer of cake only. Also tried their almond croissants and tomato sariette pastry which was a delicious and crispy savory treat for a late breakfast!

Google
Nice little bakery with great prices for their breads and other items. We were a bit late in the day so many of the daily specials were sold out. I got a cinnamon roll, sticky bun bread pudding, and a pumpkin muffin. The pumpkin muffin had no wheat and since it could come into contact with wheat it wasn’t labeled gluten free. I liked the orange icing on the cinnamon roll but would have liked more cinnamon in the roll. My favorite was the sticky bun bread pudding! I ate half of it cold and the other half microwaved and loved it both ways. I wish that there was a table or two inside.

Updated September 2024. Repeat visit! We were not so in love with what we chose this time though. Tried the ham and cheese croissant, but it was more like a spiral pastry than a croissant and I wasn’t into the sesame seed topping. Also tried the cranberry walnut bread which was ok but not a repeat buy. ————————————- We tried the Black Pepper Gruyere bread which was good but I wish it had a stronger gruyere taste. Since we love sourdough bread, we also got their Pain de Campagne which was good too. As for their pastries, I love ginger scone so I just had to try their version and it was delicious! Their specialty croissant which had chocolate, almond cream and raspberry jam was a good combo of those flavors. Overall, we'll definitely pass by here anytime we're in the Alameda area!

Google
Love the croissant - delectable with rich ingredients. Update on shopping experience, 2018-6-2: Finally met a girl who’s enthusiastic and courteous (without an attitude) when asking questions and ordering croissants 🥐 and rustic baguette 🥖🤗 (after coming here 4 Saturdays in a row)

Google
To the man hassling the staff this morning over some kind of bread emergency; it was actually a relief to watch you make an unwelcome fool of yourself, because that means more pillowy Japanese milk bread, decadent cupcakes, and perfect cappuccinos for the rest of us. There's a reason why Crispian runs out of items, and it's because their bread, pastries, and cakes are unmatched by any other bakery in Alameda. So, if you're a clown who throws a tantrum when you can't get your clown hands on a loaf of sesame bread, then this place isn't for you. But, if you love incredible baked goods and stellar customer service from lovely people, run don't walk.

Google
The bread from this bakery is BY FAR my favorite bread in the whole of Bay area. Their pepper gruyere sourdough is my very favorite (a must try!) and the regular sourdough, sesame baguette and English muffins are pretty great too. Highly recommend!

Google
A great place on Park Street for bakery goods. Get there early. Certain days of the week will not have what you want.

Yelp
what a sweet and wonderful place. I came here to grab a cup of coffee and was welcomed by a sweet and wonderful couple. The coffe was great too!

Yelp
This review if for a TGTG order. The pastries are delicious and creative! Super flaky and rich in their respective flavors. The service was quick, attentive and these folks are very informative. The pastries and bread are excellent! Small little bakery, but a delight to experience.

Yelp
Walking through the neighborhood on a Sunday morning, my wife & I dipped into Crispian to grab some pastries and hot drinks. The case offers several different delectables, I chose a Cinnamon Twist and my wife a Ginger Scone. We also ordered hot drinks (Mocha for me and Chai tea for her). Since the bakery doesn't offer customer seating, we stood in the back waiting for our drinks. Everything tasted very good, with my pastry very sweet and flaky, to go along with the strong mocha. My wife also enjoyed her food. This was a great start of a morning of shopping and eating in downtown Alameda.

Yelp
This is for my TGTG(Toogoodtogo) order. Although I have been here in the past, learning that Crispian is proactive about lessening food waste makes me love them even more! I arrived around 2:45PM on Sunday to pick up my order. The parking, although a bit small, was okay in my Honda Civic. However, it may be tight for a bigger car. I walked into the store as another customer let me know they were giving out baguettes. Sweet! There were two employees working in the front, and as soon as I walked up, I let them know I was here for my TGTG order. They have bags already made and set up behind the counter. In addition they had day of baguettes in front too. The guy handed me my bag, which consisted of 3 pastries. I got: - Raspberry fruit Danish (sweet, good either tea) - Jalapeño cheddar Danish(Nice spice and kick) - Sweet cream type Danish I also got a baguette not part of the TGTG All delicious! I did save some for the next day to heat up for breakfast.

Delicious pastries and helpful, pleasant staff! I feel so lucky that Crispian is in Alameda!

Yelp
What an amazing spur of the moment find! Although we arrived a bit late in the day for a little bakery...10:00am...Crispian Bakery did not disappoint. We tried their specialty twice baked croissant of the day which I think had a chocolate hazelnut praline filling. It was so flakey and buttery and not overly sweet. We also bought two chocolate cupcakes and a chocolate eclair which my husband devoured before I could snap a photo. The cupcakes were outstanding, and the eclair was top notch inside and out. The next time we're in Alameda again, we're definitely returning for more of their offerings. In case you're wondering, the shared lot parking for this building is located in the back. There's a side walkway that leads from the lot to the front door of the bakery which is located on Park St.

Yelp
Okay, finally time for an update. Cut and pasted from their website "Crispian Bakery is a small-batch bakery producing French-inspired American breads and pastry for the San Francisco Bay Area." I attended an event today and wanted to bring some baked goods from Alameda's best bakeries. Quality/Quantity - Stone Fruit Pie - One of today's seasonal pies; almost bought both signature pies. This was a hit!! Out of all the desserts brought to the event, this was the BEST. See Feel Good Bakery Yelp for the other dessert we brought to the event. Atmosphere - Small take-away location. Plenty of street parking, I believe they share the small parking lot in the back...? Service - Good, very patient with us as we wanted to get the best dessert for our event. Price - $35. Expensive, but that is the cost for quality. Worth it as well, as it earned me "street credit" for bringing the best dessert to the event. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2015 at this location; I know you did farmers markets prior.

Yelp
We tried the jumbo cookie, which has white chocolate, macadamia nuts, and cranberry. It was crispy on the bottom and crunchy!

Yelp
So far everything I've tried here is well made and delectable. You can taste the quality ingredients and see the skill and care they place in their bakery products. Their staff here are nice too. Today I picked up a selection of pastry items for a small mid-day tea gathering at my home. Got the pumpkin muffin, ginger scone, cheese and chives scone, and a hearty slab of their apple slice. Everyone liked what they tried and it paired perfectly with tea or coffee. I especially liked their ginger scone (made with candied ginger bits).

Yelp
I decided to give them a try when I saw they were offering discounted leftovers on the Too Good to Go App. I arrived a little earlier than the designated pickup window, but the friendly staff there informed me it was possible to pick it up early and just tap into the app to confirm I had picked up; I really appreciate them sharing this tip with me since this whole time, I was unaware you could do that with TGTG orders, and it saved me having to wait until the pickup time began. They gave me four pastries total - a croissant, a bun shaped like a cinnamon roll but which was more savory/spicy and not sweet (not sure what this is called), and two danishes of differing flavors (one tasted more like jam with some custard, while the other was more like apricot or peach preserves in the middle). I did find the roll a bit spicy, it probably has jalapenos or something in it, but it was nice having an item that was less sweet in the bunch. The danishes were good. I'm not personally much of a fan of croissants, but it was decent. All the buns still tasted pretty fresh and not stale. Overall, I thought this was a good deal financially and am glad that the bakery participates in TGTG.

Yelp
Found this place since it is close to the bbq spot I was attempting to sample, saw it had fancy pastries so decided to come out and sample their offerings Picked up croissants, kouign aman and twisted cinnamon, each were delicious. The twisted cinnamon was flaky, slightly hard and semi sweet The Kouign-Aman was flaky, soft inside, buttery top, sugar that was solidified like similar to creme brulee The croissants were buttery and flaky On a whole all were delicious and I will need to come back and sample more Pastries **** Price $$ Service ***** helpful, friendly Ambiance **** clean, take it togo, no seating area

Eric R.

Yelp
Nice food, will definitely come back The staff is always friendly. Must-visit for any coffee lover in town :)

Yelp
Celebrated my dad's birthday this weekend and as cream puffs are his favorite dessert, searched for cream puffs on the island. My mom ordered several with passionfruit filling. These are incredibly generous portion-wise (like the size of a softball) and omg every bite was amazing. The pastry was soft, the whipped cream fluffy and just sweet enough to complement the passionfruit filling. We all loved them. Lovely customer service too, Will be back!

Yelp
I was charging my my car down the street and while waiting for my Lyft home I decided to pop into Crispian's where I've gone a few times before to see what they have baking. It was an afternoon on a weekday so they had quite an assortment of pastries, scones, muffins, cookies, and whole cakes left. I tried their speciality pastry of the day, a Chocolate Almond Croissant with fresh Apricot Jam 10/10. It was flaky but not dry. The mixture of the three flavors made it a super decadent happy little party in my mouth. Must TRY! I heard they rotate the fruit filling in their specialty pastry every week. Price was a little steep $5 but it was well worth spent for the quality of items at Crispian's.

Yelp
The best bakery west of the Mississippi. Their REAL sourdough varieties are absolutely incredible. I highly recommend the olive sourdough, and they do not always have it--but all their sourdoughs are incredible.

Yelp
Ordered the Yule Log / Bouche de Noel for pickup a few days before Christmas to surprise my wife after giving birth to our firstborn child the day before. I showed up to pick up the cake slightly after closing (after being discharged from the hospital later than expected) but they were still there cleaning up the shop and were able to make the handoff. Wife was overjoyed. Cake was great.

Yelp
A cute cafe and bakery where you can swing by to get some freshly baked pastries or coffee. Service is friendly and the prices are really affordable for freshly baked food. I really enjoyed the banana bread. It was a thick slice of moist and not-too-sweet goodness. Would come back!

Sehr S.

Yelp
Everything here is made with love and care. Delicious wholesome baked goods and the service is excellent. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I picked up 3 orders from the Too Good To Go app. * Blueberry danish - the outer part was a bit dry, however, very good buttery flavor. The center part was really great in terms of flavor & moisture. * Jalapeno & cheese - very savory. I warmed it up in a toaster oven then spread some honey butter, OMG, it was heavenly. * Almond croissant - Wowwweee !!! Tasted like the filling was mixed with some marzipan. * Kouign Amann - another heavenly wonder. Dough was so moist & not overly sweet. After toasting, had a very light crunch. No review for the scones because my brother snagged all of them and left The young man that helped me was very courteous & friendly. I was there Feb. 29th @ around 2pm. He let me pick up my order a bit earlier which was highly appreciated.

Yelp
Used the Too good to go app, went in excited and came out with a jackpot! 2 almond croissants, ginger scone and my favorite was the pumpkin muffin. Quality ingredients, fresh and delicious. Easy service, clean display counter. Walked in and bag was ready. Would come back definitely

Yelp
This neighborhood bakery is the real deal. Gorgeous pastries, cookies and breads. Delicious coffee from Mr. Espresso (a local roaster) and really nice staff. Their cakes are incredible. Prices are fair and in line with a higher quality product. Worth it.

Kristine W.

Yelp
There are two things I love about this place: (1) Banana bread. There's something about the crumby moist texture that makes it unique. Not a baker so I can't put my finger on it, but wish I had the recipe. Was wondering if I was the only one who felt this way, but now it's clear the secret is out as it seems to sell out much more than before. (2) Coffee (three shots in a medium, not so easy to find). Happy to spread the news about that as more caffeine = greater happiness and life satisfaction.

Yelp
I've always got their bread from Too Good to Go and their free bread on Tuesday. BUT today me and my boyfriend got their cream puff and specialty croissant (double baked almond, filled with strawberry jam, and pan au lait) and it was some of the best we've ever had. The croissant was so crispy. Would reccomend both. We also got their viet coffee and cold brew, which is delicious and they have the BEST prices! The employees are always kind, and helpful.

Samira W.

Yelp
We've had Buche de Noel for years from different bakeries. This was the first time getting one at Crispian Bakery. What a complete disappointment. I enjoyed other savory items there. The cake didn't have any redeeming qualities, it was smaller for the price than any other and I could have done better with a box mix! Sad way to end our wonderful Christmas dinner. In four letters YUCK
google avatar

Alessandro M.

Yelp
Amazing underrated bakery. Especially love the bread (really, doesn't get any better) and the seasonal pastries that include fruit, as they are always fruity without being too sweet. In my book it's easily the best bakery in Alameda.
google avatar

Norma L.

Yelp
I ran across this bakery in my too good to go app. And a nice option to try a place you've never been and to help them not waste food. Picked up my items at appointed time and received three bakery items. They are pretty good size. In fact gave one of them to my coworker. The best out the three I enjoyed was the pumpkin muffin. The almost crossing was huge and really good. While there, I saw the different offerings. I settled on the English muffins. The staff person said they all fight over whose getting and are often times sold out quick. I can see why. I'm a Thomas' snob and generally the generic doesn't do it for me. However. These were good, I found my self not wanting to eat them all up. I'll be back for those ans some of the artesian breads.
google avatar

Dawn L.

Yelp
Adorable bakery. Some really different inventions of sweet and savory treats! The staff is very friendly and helpful! They went above and beyond for me and my pup because he couldn't come in, which was fine... they served me from the door! How nice!!! This shop is super nice with a lot of fresh smells plus character. If you want a loaf or a treat, this is your spot!!!

Yelp
I've only been to Alameda once in the past year and it was to a friend's house to celebrate a birthday. Yet, I was given the opportunity to try a few offerings from here from the friends who hosted that party about three months later when we met up to watch a basketball game. My friends thoughtfully gifted me a bag of three items. I tried the first item the next day for breakfast, the ham and cheese croissant (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=c0hg7mYpAVQWRPJgG4RkoQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); not knowing what it was until after a few bites, I enjoyed this as the appearance didn't reveal it to be a savory treat. The next morning, I reheated the spinach and cheese danish (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=je8OHw2_-GDDxGos5jCBWQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) in the toaster oven; this felt lighter and healthier pastry mainly due to the simple ingredients. Randomly and appropriately, I finished my gift bag with the almond, strawberry, and chocolate croissant (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=jVZIefsQSefR-4fw81dHNA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); I am guessing that this was likely the daily special since I don't see it on their posted menu. This was the most interesting, given that the flavor changed every few bites. I have not dined or shopped in the East Bay since early 2020. Thanks to former Yelp Elite Al L. (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=8qpFUPR1wd3uz8N1QaWj_A) for gifting me this bag and giving me the opportunity to try something new and different for me. I hope to stop in when things get closer to those pre 2020 times.

Yelp
I was working nearby and had time to waste while the contractors were lagging to show up. This place was 20 feet away and smelled pretty good so I gave them a try. I got the jalapeño cheddar croissant that was pretty good but confusing when I saw it. Looks more like a cinnamon roll but who cares as long as the flavor meets my expectations lol. Tastey and pretty light so I didn't feel sluggish after eating it. If I can say anything is that it was cold.. not sure if they're hot in the morning or if they're made to take home to heat up but I'd imagine it'd be that much better warm. I also got the oatmeal raisin cookie that was also camouflaged in appearance that looked more like a macadamia nut cookie but it was great tasting nonetheless! I'd definitely recommend trying it. I figured id add the fact that you have to order from a table outside of the window. Not like it makes a difference but it's to go only. It's not my m.o. but some people might like a warm drink and pastry but the option is not available. No worries or stars deducted from me

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've purchased anything from Crispian Bakery at the Moraga Farmer's Market due to a past incident described in my previous review, but I was there with my son today, and he wanted a decorated Easter cookie. I'm happy to report that the service was great, and the young man working there was polite, unlike the workers there a few years ago, who weren't very customer-friendly. The cookie was delicious, and its decoration was beautiful! Everything was handled in a very hygienic manner. I'm glad to be a customer again and will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I have been on a little tour of east bay bakeries little by little. I came here a few moths back. In one of the hidden gem areas of Alameda on Park st. Crispian may be a bit of a hidden gem itself. Their presentation is very nice a some bakeries just shove all their shit in as tight as possible. I had something called a pineapple pocket. The pocket was basically croissant with sugar on it and the pineapple was like a high level interior of the old home run pies. It was insanely good. This is one of the best plain croissants I have had in the east bay. It could been baked a tiny little bit crispier for my taste but the layers were excellent and the taste was right on point. I also had a cinnamon twist which was made from croissant dough and was also a 10/10 in taste and texture. Loved everything at this place and it wasn't annoyingly busy. This place is quite possibly one of the better bakeries in the East bay.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Very cute bakery in Alameda They had a to go window open in front of their store which is convenient We got a chocolate croissant, two almond toast, two chocolate mini cookies, and one giant oatmeal raisin cookie. All taste decently delicious. I won't say they are blowing away kind of good Would stop by again when I'm nearby

Darrel S.

Yelp
I had a cinnamon twist and a pear pastry. On both the pastry was flaky and buttery The twist had just the right amount of sugar and cinnamon so that it was delicious but not making a mess while you eat it. The pear was tender and the glaze was not overly sweet so the pear flavor came through. Staff was knowledgeable about their products and attentive

Yelp
Called in same day to get a cake, was told they had a couple left. I made the mistake of assuming it would be fresh, baked that morning, tasted like it was a week old. Very dense and dry, disappointed, especially for the price (8" $46). Since it was my first time trying Crispian, I had wanted a 6", but they didn't have any. Customer service was fine, and the pastries looked delish, MIGHT try again, but won't get another cake.

Yelp
Favorite neighborhood bakery! Highly recommend the jalapeño cheddar croissant, wheat free pumpkin muffin and the bostock! Yum.

Yelp
At my 71st birthday party, my daughter brought a cherry pie from Crispin Bakery. I knew of Krispin as I live in Alameda and drive by it often. I have never purchased anything from them as I figured it was another bakery among many bakeries in the East Bay. However, the cherry pie my daughter brought from Crispins was unbelievably great! Everyone was laughing because I kept saying, "Damn this is good." This was the best pie I have had for as far back as I can remember. The cherries were round and plump, not oversweet. The crust was nice and flaky and again not overpowering with the buttery taste that I find in most pie crust. This was a pie made by someone who loves and knows pies. Thank ou Krispin bakery for making my 71st birthday and great day.

Yelp
Major shoutout to Crispian's savory meat pastries! Got one near the end of the day and made a hearty snack out of it - definitely recommended.

Yelp
Great pastries, courteous service. Quick grab and go. Love that they participate in Too Good To Go.

Yelp
I first heard about this place from the company I work for. They ordered their passion fruit tart pies here. There were so good, we asked where they got it from! Street parking only. No seating or going inside the cafe. They take your order from the window. Kinda sad since I love checking out the selection of pastries from the counters but they only have photos of the food for you to choose from. So I would recommend looking at yelp photos to help you decide what to choose as well. We came with just one mission, it was to get the passion fruit tart pie! I would definitely try out the other food but I am already hooked with the pie, what if I am hooked with the other foods they have?! I would CRY! They do sell out so I would go there early. They don't stock up with a lot of items because they are made fresh. Crispian is now my go to for any occasion to pick up pie/tart. A must try!
google avatar

Slava C.

Yelp
Cool place, however missing the inside dining experience. You can make your order by looking at the pictures of what's available posted outside in the window. Can recommend lavender latte, that made our day a bit more pleasant. Don't forget to ask to warm up your order, otherwise comes very cold
google avatar

Cynthia D.

Yelp
Love the ham and cheese croissant and the jalapeño and cheese! I also love that their croissants are shaped differently, more swirl like. Make sure to call ahead of time to see if they can put it on hold for you because they sell out so fast! Especially on the weekends! So yummmmy and fluffy!!
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
A highly recommend ordering a cake from Crispian bakery...sadly, since the start of covid many bakeries are streamlining their menus and not taking custom orders...fortunately, Crispian still has many of their popular pastries (yum almond croissants!) AND taking orders for cakes Sister wanted a chocolate cake that she had for her wedding day to celebrate August birthdays...chocolate ganache, chocolate mousse, with whipped cream with a perfectly rich, textured chocolate cake...none of that cloyingly sweet frosting or buttercream just chocolate goodness. I would say if you like Costco's tuxedo cake (minus the vanilla/white chocolate mousse layer)...you'll love this cake! Chocolate cake is never my first choice but Crispian bakery truly hit the spot and a major hit! Definitely a repeat item and worthy to order one without an occasion! Heck it's Friday...get...a...cake! ;) Approx $70 inc tax and serves about 18-20 generous slices. Enjoy!

Yelp
Currently sipping on their lavender latte as I eat my salty pretzel and almond croissant. I woke up early craving a legit croissant and we all know the best in town is at Crispian. Even on a rainy weekend morning, lines are there so it's best to get there early. It was about 6 deep when we left at 8:30AM. With so many goodies, I had to limit myself but I'm eyeing their seasonal pumpkin muffin for next time! Their coffee and teas list is also extensive, especially their lattes. To celebrate the fall season, I saw both gingerbread and pumpkin lattes. I could never resist a good lavender latte though and this one does not disappoint. No artificial taste, just light and still full of flavor, much like their baked goods. What a gem in Alameda!

Yelp
Finally visited this place after having this in my bookmarks for years! I came on a Thursday morning and the place wasn't busy and I was able to find parking at the small parking lot. As of December, they are only open for pickups. The workers are really nice and friendly. The menu is up on the window with pictures so it was convenient to know what the pastries look like since they are not visible from the outside. There were a few pastries that weren't up though but I heard other customers ordering them so if there's anything you don't see, they probably have them if you ask. I got the almond croissant, the specialty croissant (chocolate, almond paste, & apricot jam) and the lavender latte. The almond croissant is supper flaky and has generous amount of almond paste. The sweetness of the almond paste was perfect but it lacks almond flavor. Overall, it's a decent almond croissant and I would get it again if I am in the area. My boyfriend tried the specialty croissant and he loves it. This is my first time seeing a bakery put 3 fillings in a croissant. If you like something sweet then the specialty croissant will be perfect for you! The lavender latte was surprisingly good! I was only expecting a mediocre coffee since this is not a specialty coffee shop but I was amazed at how smooth the coffee is here. They make the lavender syrup in house and it doesn't taste artificial at all. The lavender flavor is not too strong and gives a nice aroma to the coffee. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My partner and I are usually only ever in the Park Street area on late Sunday mornings with our dog. We never get a chance to come here early and the savory pastries are always gone! The line forms outside and you can only order from a window at the sidewalk. Fast, convenient, and sanitary! We have tried several of their sweet pastries including croissants, tartlets, and cookies which have all been good! We also tried the olive loaf a few weeks ago and although delicious, we couldn't finish it. We froze it and it thawed nicely and still tasted delicious the second time. Each time we go, the regulars in line advise us to get the pies, but we don't ever need that much food. So this time we opted to share a cherry danish and each try one of their strawberry French macarons. Now that I've had a taste of pie filling on the danish, I know where to look next time I need a pie. The macarons are properly chewy like French style should be, I'll definitely try more flavors when they are in rotation. Hopefully we can get here sooner next time and snag some of their more popular but elusive savories!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING! Not only are their cakes and desserts the best in town but their customer service is wonderful. I ordered a cake for my wedding and Beth made the picture come to life. The owner has done a really good job at training and hiring great staff and making sure they have a very welcoming ambiance. They're all very sweet and welcoming from the moment you walk in and even over the phone. Thank you so much Crispian Bakery. You are recommended to everyone. You have made my special day one to remember with the beautiful cake.

Yelp
An artisan bakery that produces small batch French inspired breads and pastries in Alameda? Yes, you can get these delicious bakery items right here in Alameda. Located at the corner of Park and Buena Vista, they have a parking lot in the back. Due to covid protocols, you order from their window counter and pictures of all their offerings are posted on the windows. There are some items that are specials for the day. I've had the opportunity to try almond croissant, specialty croissant, Jalapeno and cheddar croissant, banana bread, ginger scone, cheddar chive scone, pain au raisin and baguette. Their croissants are very flaky. The scones are moist and buttery. The banana bread was moist. The baguette had a nice chewy texture. I'm so happy that Crispian is offering tasty artisan baked goods right here in Alameda. Check out the goodies Crispian has to offer.

Yelp
WHEN: DURING COVID-19 I'm so happy to see them set up during the Pandemic. You don't go inside because they open up 2 of their windows for you to walk up and order. There's usually a line but not long. For as long as I've lived in Alameda, Crispian is still my favorite bakery. Here's what I usually get: HAM AND SWISS CROISSANT - $4.75 This is always my first choice but it seems I need to come at opening time for them cuz they seem to always sell out. But its okay, lucky for me Crispian has a lot of yummy pastries to choose from! But the flavors of this is so good---its like they sprinkle it with the everything but the bagel seasoning, and you have the layers of cheese, ham and buttery pastry! It's a hefty size too! CHEDDAR SCALLION SCONE - $3.50 I never order scones but these taste like amazing biscuits to me--which I love! It's fluffy and buttery with all the cheddar and and scallions! Yum! ALMOND CROISSANT - $4.50 I've mentioned in a previous review that this is the best almond croissant I've ever had. I was lucky to have had it fresh and warm too. It;s huge and jam packed with the frangipane (almond cream filling) both inside and on top! So you get this lovely crunch from the that being baked, and the almond slivers and of course the croissant itself! So GOOD! OATMEAL RAISIN - $1.25 You can buy any of the cookies by the pack too, which comes out to be cheaper (4 for $4), but those sell out fast. The Oatmeal Raisin is my favorite cookie here. They use GOLDEN raisins and you just taste all the butter and sweet raisins--it's SO good! BOSTOCK - $3.00 This was a new one. I arrived near closing time and this is one of the non-pumpkin pastries left. I'm glad I gave it shot cuz its quite tasty! It looks simple but its so good, its hard to explain. You taste all the layers: Slice of brioche bread, frangipane almond, jam (lemon?), powdered sugar and slivered almonds. I really enjoyed this! STICKY BUN - $5.50 I've this a few times now usually when there was nothing else left. This bad boy is huge jam packed with LOTS of chopped pecans! I recommend heating it up. Since the pandemic they no longer do the 50% pastries/bread one hour before closing. Which is great, cuz its hard times right now. It just sucks that I can't really see what is left to buy. They have a board they leave out with photos, and they will flip over what is out. But not everything is posted, so I feel a bit bad asking what is left--but only if there is no one next after me hehe. The gentleman there was super sweet and nice telling me what the pastries are. Thank you!!! I'll do my best to come back early next time!

Yelp
Bakery with both sweet and savory baked pastries as well as various breads. The team here is great and always patient as we figure out what we want. Ordering is done through a window on the sidewalk and is all take-away. Get coffee at the beanery next door and get your baked goods here. Seating in the back parking lot.
