The 25 Best Restaurants In Portland, Maine - Portland, ME - The Infatuation

"Walking around downtown Portland, you’ll likely experience two things: lots of lobster paraphernalia and the incredible smell of fried chicken coming from Crispy Gai. Step inside the rosy-lit dining room or park yourself at their outdoor counter and enjoy a spread of punchy Thai plates like papaya salad, noodle dishes, and fried chicken in many forms. They’ve got wings with lots of choices of seasoning, extra crispy thighs and drums, and a crispy waterfall chicken that’s served tossed in mint and toasted rice powder. The shareable plates and laid-back service make this a great place for a fun dinner with friends or a late-evening snack to wrap up the night. They also do a ridiculously good breakfast sandwich with Thai sausage, eggs, and hashbrowns." - alana dao 2

Love, love, love Crispy Gai. The chicken wings are out of this world. Perfectly crunchy and seasoned soooo well. I love the regular seasoning, but also the red curry seasoning is phenomenal. The go-to order is wings and sticky rice. Other foods here are also good, but personally find that the wings overshadow the other dishes because they’re just so good. Service at the bar is always on point and the cocktails are great! I love the Thai twist on the cocktail flavors for sure.

Cool new place, came for dinner with a friend. Cocktails were a 10/10 start! Plenty of non-alcoholic options, beautiful presentation, delicious and refreshing. Crispy chicken was a bit dry, but good. Majority of menu options are spicy (noodles we ordered were too spicy for us), not a wide variety of milder foods. Oh well... but clearly marked gluten-free options, and several available for substitution! Pork belly chops were underwhelming :( I think it was the greens (my friend's noodles had them too) - they were sour??

Google
OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT EVER. I've visited Portland twice and I've been here twice. An absolute must. The food, staff, food, music, food, VIBE is everything!! Did I mention they have good food. The drinks are also a must. I feel like we've tried everything on the menu. 😋😍😂. What can I say, we like to eat. My personal favorite is the cabbage salad with ginger goodness. The chicken, oysters, fried rice, and pork skewers are all worthy of a taste. It was all good to me. Thank you!!!!

Josh Kenney

Google
Awesome drinks, awesome vibes, and awesome food. Believe the hype on what you see and don’t skip on getting at least two orders of chicken wings. My favorites were the red curry. We really enjoyed the Thai michilada and mimosa, both were delicious as well and reasonably priced

Google
This is a restaurant with the best chicken wings in Portland. We had Sichuan wings which are very crunchy, and tasty. We also ordered waterfall mushrooms which is a fried mushroom salad and very good. Rangoon dip which is a new version of crab Rangoon and it's delicious as well. They have non alcoholic beverages to like Thai ice tea. I would recommend chicken wings here and I will try other menus next time. They have limited tables inside and outdoor seatings are also available. Staff are nice and friendly. Will come back here again.

Google
Our friend from Maine tells us this is his favorite place and I can see why. The chicken is simply phenomenal. The "deconstructed" Crab Rangoon was also beyond belief. But the highlight was the Satay Chicken Sandwich. As one who has traveled to Singapore and Malaysia, the satay is legit and is simply beautiful. Seems outrageous to have an authentic Thai / Southeast Asian restaurant in Portland, Maine, but here we are.

Dennis Landry

Google
This place is outstanding. Food is great, cocktails are great, and the atmosphere is outstanding. If you happen to find yourself in Portland you need to come. The fried chicken in particular is phenomenal. The sichuan hot wings will melt your brain.

Google
Solid wings and insane sauces. Heard so many great things about this place from my friends, so I dropped by this weekend for a quick lunch. Even at 1:30 PM, the place was very busy. No tables open, so we squeezed into small counter seats to skip the wait. I always order wings at Southeast Asian spots, so my standards run pretty high. By those standards, the wings here fell on the better end of the spectrum, but weren’t quite best-in-class. To be honest, I've had better wings elsewhere, but the sauces here changed the whole game. They were, quite literally, finger-lickin' good. Wings – We tried all three varieties, and while the dry rubs on the Red Curry and Sichuan wings didn't fully impress (the Sichuan batch was even slightly overcooked), the accompanying sauces redeemed everything. These are sauces you could drizzle onto cardboard, and it would probably taste great. Sauce Party – Five total, and worth ordering enough wings to try them all. My top picks were the NJS Ranch and the Nam Jim Gai. Both had a funky umami depth with a bit of extra acidity that took everything up a notch. The only one I found a bit underwhelming was the Thai chili sauce. Pad See Ew – A straightforward but well-executed dish that rounded out the meal. Mango Sticky Rice – The mango was slightly underripe, but I genuinely enjoyed the rice's congee-like consistency. That additional moisture provided the dish a comforting, hearty texture that worked particularly well served warm.

Yelp
Wife and I went for lunch yesterday. Each ordered the same, an Asian style chicken and rice dish. While the menu suggests as "spicy", both of us liked it as just right. The cocktail, beer and wine selections were good, I had a Pilsner draft, and a glass of white wine. We will visit Crispy Gai again!

Yelp
Walked in on a Tuesday night around 9pm and waited about 15 minutes for a table for 3. The restaurant is very darkly lit with some disco balls and neon lights, definitely a more buzzy vibe. I ordered the hat yai wings, which were REALLY GOOD. I recommend getting the sauce flight and dipping them in all 5 and deciding which one is your favorite. I also got the khao soi gai, which honestly wasn't very good at all, the chicken was dry and the flavor and the noodles were very mediocre. The ice cream sammy was just okay. Tried a bite of my friend's pad see ewe which was really flavorful and delicious, I would go with that over the khao soi if you're deciding between entrees. But honestly, the fried chicken here is so good that that's what you should be focusing your energy on. The service here was fine, a little on the slow side.

Yelp
Goodness, I don't even know how to start. I get the street food concept but at least charge street food prices. It's like at least 3x of what it should be. $18 for fried rice that has less than 10 sausage slices which is only maybe half of a Chinese sausage link tossed in literally 1 cup of rice and bits of eggs is pure robbery. The noodles were good but boy it was salty. We paid nearly $100 for lunch for 2 people and we left hungry. What I don't understand is the vibe and music inside the cafe. It's feels like a rock and roll place that should be serving beer on tap and corn dogs.

Yelp
Ambiance fun, food spicy and yum - makes your tongue tingle, homemade ranch and soy sauce are a yes!! Service was FIVE STARS - Morgan was the best
google avatar

Yelp
Popped in right at 5pm on a Saturday night - zero wait whatsoever. Service was quick and the inside was small and cozy. The khao soi and crispy chicken are as good as people say they are and i would get them again in a heartbeat. They had a mango sticky rice special for dessert which was the perfect ending to the meal. Warm creamy fresh and delicious. Everything about this place lived up to the hype. Even a simple Thai iced tea was done very well. Would recommend for Thai food in Portland.

Yelp
Easily one of my favorite Portland establishments! It's a small place so it can be a few minutes to get a table/bar seat sometimes, but it's always worth the wait. Such a convenient location and fast service, which makes this a go-to for me before seeing shows at Merrill. The food is always amazing! The som tum (green papaya salad) is a must for me. So fresh and delicious. I recently tried the chive cakes, which were crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, finished with a sprinkle of flake salt. Tasty and such a fun mix of textures! The chicken is what they're know for (crispy gai=chicken). I get the hat yai, which is crispy on the outside with plenty of little fried onions and juicy on the inside. The sauces they have to pair with the chicken are also great! I especially like the NJS Ranch, but also really enjoy the ginger soy (especially with the fried onions). The amount of sauce for $2 is generous too. Lastly, I also really appreciate their drink options! So many fun nonalcoholic creations, including the Gucci Gai and the Lemongrass Rickey. Both are great! The Thai tea is also nice and has a distinct taste compared to other places I sometimes get it because it's made with condensed milk.

Yelp
I have to say that I have been back to crispy gai a couple times now and while it's good... it's not at the top of my favorite places to go in Portland. This was the second time I've gone in for a chicken sandwich and, again, it's a good sandwich. I do truly appreciate the crunchiness of their breading and the integrity of their buns (both crucial to a good fcs). But I do have to say that their toppings/flvor combinations leave something to be desired in my opinion.
google avatar

Jill I.

Yelp
I have been wanting to come here for sometime, I heard such good things about the chicken sandwich. It was all true. This was truly an amazing sandwich. It was late the the afternoon right before they closed for lunch so there were not many people there, my order was ready very quickly. We choose take out which may not have been the best plan after realizing just how messy it was to eat, but it was worth every napkin. The cabbage salad was also very good the dressing had a bit more zing than I like on a salad but we used it sparingly so it was really good. We will return to sample the wings and maybe the Brussel sprouts next time.

Yelp
I've been here twice now -- once for lunch, once for dinner -- and have enjoyed it both times, though I think the quality of the dishes is a bit uneven. The interior is trendy and colorful, and we thankfully didn't have to wait either time for a seat (though I here this place is slammed during the summer months). At dinner, I tried the Chinese sausage fried rice with the crab add-on, which was quite good, and the pad see ew, which was well-cooked but way too salty. I'd say the absolute winner here is the chicken: I tried one of my friend's chicken wings, and it was incredibly crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and impossibly tender. When I came back for lunch, I went straight for the chicken: I ordered the Crispy Deluxe Sandwich and the Tom Yum Fries. Both were absolutely delicious, flavor-packed and texturally flawless. This has got to be some of the best fried chicken I've had in recent memory. I'll be back soon to try out the happy hour ($1 oysters every day from 11am-3pm!) and for more of that incredible chicken!

Yelp
Hot damn, this place is SO good. My husband and I stumbled upon Crispy Gai while strolling around Portland and it ended up being one of my top meals in a very long time! We sat outside and ordered yummy cocktails (we both got the passion fruit coconut mimosa). For food, we took advantage of the $1 oyster deal and were pleasantly surprised by the unique sauce that accompanied them. It was some sort of chili cilantro flavor. So good! For mains, we shared the Sichuan wings and pad see ew. We were blown away by both but especially the noodle dish! It was so flavorful and the pork was tender and falling apart. SO good. The wings were super crispy and you could pick from one of 6 or so sauces! My only regret is not ordering the fruity pebble/lemongrass ice cream sandwich. May have to go back just for that! I highly highly highly recommend you stop by for a meal (or two!). You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
After eating a bunch of lobster, crab, scallops and shrimp on my trip to Maine (and yes, I thought about Thai shrimpers a lot the entire time), I decided it was time for something different. I ended up at a Thai street food restaurant and my experience was very pleasant. I went with the Sichuan wings, which are listed as the hot option. They were incredible, among the best wings I've ever had. Sichuan peppercorns aren't common in mainstream cuisine, so seeing them executed so well in Maine was a delightful surprise. If you've never had Sichuan-style spice, it's not a typical burn. It's a numbing and tingling sensation. These wings were as Sichuan as you can get. My lips tingled from the first bite, which was quite an experience compared to all the spicy wings I've had in my life. I would have loved the option to mix and match wing flavors, which would be very beneficial for solo diners. I wanted to try the other flavors but that would've been too much food for just me. So while I highly recommend the Sichuan wings, I can't wholeheartedly say they're the must-order item because I didn't get to try more of the menu. A complimentary sauce would also be a nice touch, especially given the price at about $3 per wing, having to pay another buck for sauce feels excessive, even if the wings are darn good. I'd rate Crispy Gai a 4.5, but my critiques aren't enough to round down the score down, so I'm rounding up to 5 stars.

Ryder K.

Yelp
More than lived up to the hype. Wish I could give 6 stars. I got the Sichuan Wings (forgot to take a pic) and it was arguably the best chicken I've ever had. I don't even like traditional wings but I'd eat these every day. I'd never had sticky rice but this seemed about as good as it can get.

Yelp
Absolutely AMAZING food. The pad see ew and Chicken wings were some of the best I've ever had! Service was really fast and super friendly. I felt very well taken care of when I was there. They staff have spot on drink recommendations and kept checking on us frequently. This place has good music and cool decor but the interior is designed to look more like a casual place. Feels like the move is to grab a quick and delicious dinner here right before hitting the bars in Old Port. Still, this has definitely been one of my favorite places to get noodles and wings in Portland and hope to come back soon :)

Yelp
Unexpected find in Portland. I saw in reviews there was pad see ew, so was kind of sad to not see it on the menu when we went. That's a favorite I get at Thai places. The cabbage salad was good but way too flavorful that I needed rice or something else to cleanse my palate with it. I wanted to try the lo bak gao tots - and it was good but is a Chinese dish and not Thai, so I'm thinking this place is definitely more Asian fusion than Thai. And the lo bak gao was not as crispy as I thought it would be, being a tatter tot. The highlight was really the wings. So juicy and crisp- hit the spot. Also got a Thai iced tea, and was so refreshing.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Absolutely awesome spot! Really unique twist on your classic Thai food. We started with the crispy waterfall salad. There was a slight gaffe here, in that the waiter brought the ginger soy sauce we ordered on the side with the salad, without telling us it was the side sauce. We ended up dumping it all in the salad, which definitely made it overwhelmingly flavorful. However, the herbs and spices still stood out in a great way, so I can imagine how good this would have been without all the extra sauce. The Kanom Gui Chai was the highlight of the meal for me, a must order!! Super chewy, flavored just right, and the chives really shine because it's just rice flour and chives. Super super yummy. The Lo Bak Go Tots were a bit underwhelming; the texture wasn't quite right, so it was too crumbly. They were also oversalted, which made it hard to eat by itself. The Hat Yai Wings were really good. Super crispy but still crazy juicy on the inside. My only criticism is that they're not really flavorful on their own, so it relies on whatever sauces you have. The Crispy Deluxe Sandwich was my second favorite thing we ordered. Chicken was again wonderfully crispy and juicy, but the addition of the tom yum spice on the chicken made it super flavorful as well. The sauce was also great. Overall, a wonderful meal, would highly recommend!

Yelp
Partner was craving fried chicken and this spot popped up! Pretty packed for. Wednesday night. He got the 4 piece fried chicken which were HUGE pieces. Really loved those. Super crispy juicy and hot. I got the Sichuan chicken wings; also crispy and juicy. Realized sichuan is not my cup of tea, unfortunately. I got ranch which helped drown out the numbing-ness. No fault of the spot, just wanted to try something new.

Yelp
Noontime Just arrived-seated in 5 minutes. Started with a lemongrasslime rickey cocktail. I ordered 6 $1.00 oysters & an order of their most popular wings. Kris also ordered the wings. Watching people eat everything looks great. Can't wait to try the famous wings. Here they are, 6 ultra crispy chicken Hat Yao wings with fried shallots scattered around. Without sauce the wings are pretty flavorless. It 's obvious there is no seasoning on the wings other than the batter & fried shallots. Will I have these wings again; probably not. I did opt for an additional $2.00 add on ginger soy sauce but that was a bit overwhelming. I did however eat the oysters; they were sensational 11-3 pm happy hour $1.00 oysters how can you go wrong. The accompanying mignonette had quite a spice to it kept my mouth aflame.I should have had a dozen or two dozen oysters instead of just 6. Live & learn. Other than the oyster special the pricing seems a bit excessive but it 's obvious the place is a gold mine based on how many people were there eating. Do make sure you have deep pockets. My next visit I'll make my own wings at home theyvmost definitely have more flavor!!! and cost far less. I should have gone next door to High Roller & enjoyed lobster. We went, we explored, we tried, we now move on to our next destination.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the food. The fried chicken wings were awesome (get the sauce flight) and my wife loved her meal too. Great little hidden gem!
google avatar

Yelp
10/10 for sure! Service was on point with great recommendations. We had the fried rice, wings and deluxe chicken sandwich. Sauces, rubs etc etc was perfect. If I lived here this would be a regular place to eat. Nice ambiance with trendy music not played too loudly.

Yelp
Crispy Gai is such a gem. An intimate spot with a vibrant storefront and interior, Crispy Gai specialized in Southeast Asian food and cocktails. I tried the Bermuda Love Triangle (perfect for those who love a sweet, tropical cocktail), a Thai Iced Tea with rum, and a Strawberry-based cocktail with a tajin rim. The Bermuda Love Triangle and Thai Iced Tea were by far my favorite--the strawberry drink was a tad watered down. Everything was delicious regardless! They have a solid amount of mocktails, too, which is perfect for those who aren't huge drinkers or are sober. Although I'll have to go back to try more of their food (the mushroom Pad See Ew caught my eye), we did try the chive cakes with a savory sauce. They were both chewy and crispy--a perfectly-sized appetizer. The service was friendly and quick. A great spot for cocktails and Asian street food--I will be back!
google avatar

Andrew L.

Yelp
Craving some good Asian food in portland, Cripsy Gai was recommended by multiple coworkers who said the wings were out of this world. And my god they were. These were some of the crispiest, juiciest wings I have had with a nice thai flavor. As a fan of the pad see ew, I tried theirs and I loved their deliberate use of the spices that really elevated the dish to more than just soy sauce and noodles that I have had at some places. And of course, cannot beat the 1$ oyster deal. It may not be the best oyster you ever had, but for 1$ and the sauces it comes with, you cannot beat that. Honestly one of the highlights of my trip.
google avatar

Angelica D.

Yelp
Super cute spot! Came here on a weekday and it was pretty busy. I will say, there isn't a lot of seating but they did have a small outside space and bar seating. If you're looking for delicious asian style wings, then this is the place! I recommend the extra crispy wings with shallot, Hat Yai Wings. For the sauce, you must try the Nam Jim Jaew. The non-alcoholic options are great, especially being 8 months pregnant at the time I visited! The drink I got was refreshing and not too sweet. One item I could've skipped was the pad see ew - it was a little too sweet for my liking. Definitely going back to eat more wings and try some alcoholic cocktails!
google avatar

Kendra W.

Yelp
Nice brunch alternative when in downtown Portland. Smaller seating area and lots of high top seating. Yummy drinks with unique flavor twists...a little heavy on the ice but I think it's because they are strong. Chicken sandwich was soo big and good. Can't wait to try the fried chicken next.
google avatar

Kassandra H.

Yelp
Food so fantastic I ordered it twice in a row. The hat yai chicken wings are crispy and perfectly cooked. The fried rice is a must- extremely flavorful. However my favorite thing was the Kanom Gui Chai. Delicious little triangles with the perfect dipping sauce. I could have eaten 100 of them!
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
I've been here 2-3 times in small groups. Pretty decent food in quality. Service is fine. Parking is difficult (metered street parking) but expectedly so in downtown Portland in the heart of the Old Port. Atmosphere is nice. So why the 1 star rating? As someone who grew up eating lots of rice, I like and know my rices. This staple here is fine - standard white rice. BUT it is absolutely ABSURD that they will charge $3 for a bowl of white rice that is approximately the size of a small apple, definitely smaller than my fist. Rice is so dirt cheap to make, certainly in bulk. I am going to be dramatic and call this price-gouging, especially if they're not going to give a side of rice with spicy meat dishes that should be eaten with rice!! This is a hill I am willing to die on. If you're ok with this, go here for decent food and a sure-fire way to beat me in a game of hide-and-seek in downtown Portland. I will not be back.

Yelp
Walked in on a Monday evening around 6:15 and got seats at the bar along the wall. The dining room really started to fill up around 6:45/7 and got progressively louder through our meal. Service was friendly and helpful when we asked what menu items were most popular. We ended up ordering the cabbage salad, panang curry and the pad see ew with pork. Our waitress recommended getting the peppers on the side for the pad see ew which we appreciated. The panang curry wasn't very flavorful but the braised beef was incredibly tender. Overall we had a very nice dinner, but not ordering the fried chicken was probably a mistake.
google avatar

Bryanna G.

Yelp
food was amazing. We ordered the Hat Yai Wings, Satay Sandwich, Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich, and two sauces (Nam Jim Khao Man Gai and the Nam Jim Gai). These were some of the BEST wings I've ever had - they were so crispy and flavorful. The umami went crazy. Vibe was amazing and staff was very tentative! Would drive back to Portland just for these wings.
google avatar

Yelp
We were passing through Portland on a Sunday and we never miss a chance to explore the food scene. We can't stop talking about the brunch we had (it was 2pm so more like linner), but either way. The wings were so good we couldn't stop making mmmmm noises and the crab dip was for real, heaven. The fruity pebbles ice cream sandwich was so amazing we have been wondering how we get 30 shipped to New Hampshire for our kids high school graduation party. Stop looking for somewhere to eat in Portland. Crispy Gai is the answer. Thank you chef!!!

Yelp
Three words top tier food, this is honestly the best fried chicken I have ever had, the workers are great and the small restaurant makes up with perfect ambience

Yelp
There are a lot of restaurants in Portland that talk a big game, get a lot of press, or tourists experience it through rose colored vacation glasses. But Crispy is truly one of the best fried chickens I've had. Perfectly flavored, perfectly fried, perfectly tender. Beyond the show stopping fried chicken they have a great menu of dishes, the Thai mushroom and mint dish is superb. If you like Asian food trust me and order it! They have a great bar program and if you order take out it happens so fast! It's one of the handful of restaurants that actually lives up to Portland's reputation as a foodie city.

Yelp
We visited Portland for three days in the middle of May. After a few lovely seafood lunches and dinners, we were ready to try something from the land. Our food tour guide recommended Crispy Gai and specifically, the Sichuan Wings. We arrived around 8:30pm and sat at the bar. Jillian took excellent care of us. She also made some killer drinks. We had the Mangolorian and a Kettle One martini. We knew we just wanted wings, so I can't speak for the rest of the menu. Let me tell you that the wings were the best we have ever had...ever. The Sichuan ones had such a depth of flavor, and the Hat Yai ones were just as flavorful in a less complex way. The wings were very large, super crispy, and juicy on the inside. We chose the NJS ranch and the Nam Jim Khao Man Gai sauce, which both complimented the wings perfectly. There was a special that night of chive cakes that were also fantastic. They do add on 5% for a kitchen gratuity which we were happy to pay. I wish we had wings this good in Cincinnati! Highly, highly, recommend.

Yelp
What a cute, trendy, and amazing restaurant. I went here on several recommendations from my coworkers. Best way to spend my Wednesday. From 11-3 on weekdays is their happy hour, which is $5 mimosas and $1 oysters. So, of course, I had a mimosa and 30 oysters....and 2 cocktails. It was a great day. Started off with the Same Same but different, which features a tom kha tincture that has all the aromatics that makes tom kha (coconut milk based thai soup) so special. It was more mild than I thought it would be, but a pleasant drink nonetheless. The drink is especially liked was the mangolorian, which had more in-your-face flavors, but the coconut cream and the chili powder on top really brought it together nicely. The oysters *chef's kiss*. Topped with crispy shallots and with a lil sauce that's optional that definitely had some fish sauce. So fresh. So good. I want to go back so badly And the WINGS: I got the Sichuan wings and they are not joking: they are numbing. My tongue was number and it was only slightly alarming. Not spicy in my opinion, just flavorful and the perfect type of crispy with the tender interior? I'm drooling. I need to go back STAT. Anyways if you've read this far...just go. (To crispy gai). Also shout out to Sarah and Kelsey for being awesome and friendly staff there!

Yelp
I am floored by how great the food is here! Placed a delivery order last night - I tried the roasted pork pad see ew and it was honestly the best pad see ew that I've ever had the honor of eating. Perfectly cooked, noodles well sauced, Chinese broccoli delicious, and spot on level of spice. This is a dish that usually can be rough with takeout from most restaurants, but it arrived like it just came out of the kitchen and was served straight away in house. I can't wait to try more menu offerings in the near future. I am hooked! Run, don't walk to Crispy Gai!

Yelp
Came here and had a mini college reunion with my friends whom I haven't seen in 18 years. This place had amazing food. The fried chicken with Szechuan peppers was delightful and my pad see ew was amazing. The entire staff was super helpful and wonderful. The ambiance was also great too! Next time, I am back in Portland, ME I'll be here.

Yelp
Great happy hour! You can't beat $1 oysters and $5 mimosas. It was worth the 35 min wait. The food and drinks made up for the crammed atmosphere and lack of organization with hostess. Their were 3 girls working an incredibly busy happy hour shift. They were clearly busting their butts but definitely needed help. A 4th woman joined the team but by then the seating organization was beyond manageable. We waited much longer than others which was disappointing. The oysters, wings and rice was amazing. Tasty mimosas and everyone was friendly despite the chaos. I wouldn't definitely recommend and return but hope they assign a dedicated hostess in the future. Those poor girls couldn't keep up with everything.

Yelp
Sooooo so so so good. We ordered a bunch of wings, and the fried rice. SUPER delicious fun spot to go to eat family style and enjoy! Also loved my mocktail!

Yelp
Was in the mood for fried chicken and stopped by to grab chive cake: very different from Chinese chive cakes as the chives are layered in what appears to still be glutinous rice flour and deep fried in chunks, very fun app boat noodles: good aromatic flavor, fresh ingredients ie peanuts and bean sprouts, but overpriced based on the portion size crispy wings: ordered with their sweet chili and ranch sauce, both okay but not particularly better than store-bought condiments, the wings are fried perfectly with a decent portion made better with more crispy shallots thai tea: tasted like sweet bubble gum more than traditional Thai tea Overall their chicken was great. I would come back to try their brunch chicken sandwiches, as a neighboring party's sandwich orders towered in comparison to our choices.

Yelp
I love this concept - cocktails and fried chicken, what's not to love?! The wings come in 6 pieces and I love that the menu is laid out so that the wings and sauces are listed from mildest to spiciest. We ordered the sichuan wings and it was a great flavor with heat without being overwhelming. The pork skewers were also good although I preferred dipping it in the fish sauce I ordered over the peanut sauce. Everything seems like it's small plates style meant for sharing. The cocktails were tasty but a little too generous with lemongrass or something along those lines. It's pretty small inside so I don't recommend for big groups. Their merch looked adorable.

Yelp
Came across this place on our way to high roller lobster rolls and ofc they were delicious but if I had to choose btw lobster rolls or the Thai curry chicken wings I would choose the chicken wings hands down. They use a dry rub so the wings are still super crispy and they were the best wings I've ever had. The ribeye w the house sauce and sticker rice was also perfection. Everything was super flavorful I can't wait to go back. I've been thinking about these chicken wings at least once a day since

Yelp
Delicious food, very good fried chicken with perfectly crunchy skin and god sauces. Service was fast and friendly and drinks list was good! One star off as another user mentioned for charging 3 bucks for a side of rice, a little silly. Otherwise great!

Yelp
Ordered the oyster mushrooms for $17 and received 7 cold mushrooms. The sauces were also all super super salty. It's very cute in here though. The drinks are all amazing and the staff is wicked friendly.

Yelp
Crispy Gau is an amazing find! The staff are kind and patient, even though it can get crowded. Snagged a two to (T leather than th eking side bar along a like wall that is a little tight. I had a Disco's Not Dead (vodka, fino, lychee, melon, elderflower, lime zest cocktail) which was a throwback tiki drink but delicious For food I had the crispy chicken wings with ginger, soy sauce (9 out of 10) The wings were perfectly done while the batter was shatteringly crispy . delicious I also had the slightly spicy, utterly delicious, cauliflower, and lamb skewers with peanut sauce. Also very good. The atmosphere is lively without being obnoxious; retro Asian without being tacky; and delicious without being too pricey. A total win!! Yoi know a restaurant is good when you are eager to google its dishes to find out how to replicate them at home. In a town full of pubs, lobster, and duck fat... this is a great find

Yelp
It's surprisingly disconcerting sitting in front of a mirror while you're eating and it's just barely enough room for your plates and stuff. However, you know this food is good. If you have been here. We had the fried chicken, the coconut milk chicken soup with noodles, and the papaya salad. It was hard to find papaya in it, but it was still pretty darn good. We had beef sliced with a sauce to dip it into, and that was amazingly good.

Yelp
Love this place! Excellent food especially the fried chicken. Fun drinks and always helpful and attentive service. Highly recommend...one of our favorite places in Portland.

Yelp
Best chicken wings ever, anywhere: the Sichuan wings are hot, mouth numbing, yet flavorful.

Yelp
Conveniently located in the heart of Portland downtown. Cute signage. Fried chicken was so flavorful and crispy. Fresh oysters with really nice lemongrass sauce. The drink I ordered (forgot what it was called) was really nice. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Portland.

Yelp
I fully did not expect this restaurant to live up to the hype but it honestly exceeded my expectations!! Everything I've had here between two visits is seriously delicious and executed to perfection. The flavors are really bold and loud, with lots of salt and acid (if you are really sensitive to salt, you will find it too salty), but I absolutely love it. The menu is small but full of hits. I love pad see ew, and their version is the best I've ever had. It's got that smoky wok flavor with glossy noodles and crispy fatty pork. The cabbage salad and waterfall salad are both total flavor bombs. The moo ping is tasty but not a standout. The fried chicken is the true star of the menu. It's the crispiest, most flavorful fried chicken you'll ever have. The dipping sauces aren't needed but really do take it over the top. All of the cocktails are excellent, even the mocktails. I could go on and on. The service is great, from the super nice hostess to our bartender (I want to say his name was Ryan) who was very easy to talk to and kept our waters filled all night. I do wish it was a bigger space because the wait can be quite long but I like their waitlist system where you get texted when your table is ready and can even check where you are in the queue online. I recommend getting a pre-dinner drink at one of the many other places around. All in all, this is my new favorite restaurant in town!

Yelp
I'm half Thai and can safely say I've had enough of this food genre to not be impressed. The chicken was definitely crispy and enjoyable but otherwise the fried rice was mid and small portion, and the nam jin dip sauce tasted like cheap fish sauce and not much else. Ambiance was similar to most bars. Not elevated, not dive-y. Regular.
