First - the assistant sommelier Zan was fabulous. Knowledgeable, fun personality, really helpful. We enjoyed the Greek wine flight. Other waiters were good.
Second - Menu is 90% seafood. Overall the food was 30% exceptional (corn soup, squid pasta, beef & tart), 40% excellent and 30% good but a bit plain (souvlaki, dessert medley w chocolate / sponge cake / tart).
Third - seating. There are about 25 tables in the outside courtyard. When we arrived all were empty, except one table had 2 guests. They sat us next to that table. And those two tables were positioned really close together - more than any others in the entire restaurant.
* The first hour of service, there were only three tables with guests in the entire restaurant. The second hour two more tables were seated. It wasn't busy at all.
Therefore I was left puzzled.
Why??
Why??
Why when there's so much available space, sit us next to other people, especially this woman who was so loud and irritating.
I asked them to move us before service started and the hostess acted like it was a strange request.
That was a very disappointing start to the dinner. Part of fine dining is the overall dining experience.
It left me shaking my head with wonder....a rookie mistake you would expect from a sidewalk cafe.
So they lose a star for that.
