"Whether a quick stop at the original location inside a tiny home in a Sandy Springs parking lot or a visit to the newer Roswell address, which includes a bar, Cubanos has nailed the Cuban sandwich and cafe con leche combo, using a crunchy, toasted bread from La Segunda Bakery (established in 1915) in Tampa. From Cuba to South Florida to Atlanta, owner Ozzy Llanes has made a point of preserving his roots through food. Drop into either location on Mondays for a free Cuban cafecito or visit the Roswell storefront on Thursday evenings for free salsa lessons." - Allison Ramirez
"Cuban sandwich and coffee shop Cubanos ATL in Sandy Springs is located inside a custom-built tiny house on Roswell Road. It quickly become a hot spot for Cuban sandwiches and coffee drinks after opening in 2020. All of the shop’s sandwiches are served on La Segunda Central Bakery bread — the oldest Cuban bread maker in the United States — and are created using family recipes. Simply walk up to the window, place an order, and wait to be called. Cubanos ATL includes locations in Cumming, Alpharetta, and at Chattahoochee Food Works." - Beth McKibben
"Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, Ozzy Llanes wanted to find an authentic Cuban sandwich shop in Atlanta, where he moved to work in finance. After years of searching to no avail, he decided to create his own. During the onset of the pandemic, he built a tiny house in his driveway. He then convinced a Sandy Springs shopping center to let him move said house onto its parking lot. By opening day in August 2020, Cubanos ATL already had 4,000 followers—and sold out of sandwiches in 45 minutes. Cubanos ATL doesn’t have a liquor license, but its dangerously strong four-ounce pour of colada (Cuban espresso) should require an I.D. Llanes also sells hard-to-find Cuban sodas such as pineapple-flavored Jupina and cream-soda-like Ironbeer." - Allison Weiss Entrekin

"Cuban sandwich and coffee shop Cubanos ATL is now open serving breakfast and lunch from a custom-built tiny house on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. The shop, situated in the parking lot of a small retail plaza (home to Kudzu Antiques and Bury the Hatchet axe throwing,) is currently only open for takeout. Cuban-born owner Ozzy Llanes moved to Atlanta from Miami a decade ago and says he’s spent the last several years searching for a “descent” Cuban sandwich in Atlanta. He finally decided to take matters into his own hands earlier this year. Llanes designed and built the tiny house on wheels, with its kitchen and prep station, over the span of two months. The menu consists of just four sandwiches: a traditional Cuban called El Miami; the El Tampa with roast pork, ham, salami, pickles, and Swiss cheese; the El Atlanta, which adds two types of pickles and salami to the Cuban sandwich; and the El Pollo chicken sandwich mixed with aioli and topped with pickles and Swiss cheese. All sandwiches are served on La Segunda Central Bakery bread — the oldest Cuban bread maker in the United States — and are created using family recipes. In addition to sandwiches, Cubanos ATL also serves Cuban coffee and coffee drinks, like the colada and cafe con leche, and flan for dessert. Cubanos ATL quickly found success after opening three weeks ago. Lines form early and tend to remain steady throughout the day, especially on Saturdays. People can order online for pick-up or fill out a disposable menu in line to hand to the cashier at the window. The shop takes cash, credit, and contactless mobile payment. Masks are required while in line and when ordering. Some limited seating is available at picnic tables in the parking lot. Open Tuesday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch begins at 11 a.m." - Beth McKibben
