"Be prepared to stand in line at Culture Cream for live probiotic ice creams and sorbets made with kombucha and kefir. Flavors like blueberry thyme sorbet and miso ice cream with honey roasted strawberries not only taste great, but also answers the question of “what if ice cream were better for your gut health?” Interacting with the staff almost feels like you’re talking to a pharmacist, but instead of filling a prescription for probiotics, you’ll end up with a delicious cup of vanilla or cardamom ice cream." - chanize thorpe, anne cruz, keith hernandez

The young dude working the counter tonight handled the pre-close rush better than anyone I’ve seen…hopefully he gets a reward! This place was epic. The cinnamon brownie and chocolate ice cream were to DIE for. Going back tomorrow when they open. The indigenous appreciation and bright colors gave it a tropical oasis vibe. Must visit.

Google
Super cute ice cream shop that has amazing flavor choices! Got the lemon basil and it was delicious! Can’t wait to visit this place again next time I’m in Hudson!

We stopped by culture cream for a sweet treat after dinner in the area. It gave me bohemian vibes and it was absolutely beautiful inside. The staff inside were friendly and the ice cream options were so unique! My bf is allergic to eggs so we are always excited when they have vegan options that he can try. We got the vegan chocolate cardamom and it was really good! I was really hoping to try the vegan vanilla maple swirl or the raspberry hibiscus sorbet but they were sold out of both :( they are also a little pricey in my opinion. I’d definitely come back if in the area again to see if I could try one of those flavors.

Google
Cute place right on the main drag in Hudson. Charming owner. Great espresso late and the most wonderful spicy Chinese peanuts ever! The owner has traveled extensively and brings her expertise to a wonderful shop!

Google
Great ice cream store with very interesting flavors, including vegan options. Their sorbets are kombucha based. I highly recommend the miso strawberry ice cream

Google
An dessert shop with unique and delicious flavors of ice creams, floats, drinks and sorbets. I appreciated the variety of vegan options. Staff were friendly and happy to answer questions and offer samples. A colorful and comfortable seating area with fresh greenery. I'd be interested in trying their homemade kombucha next time.

Google
Really cute ice cream shop with interesting options/flavors. It is cool they offer both ice cream and kefir. *my one complaint is that the glass table resting on the plywood triangles is really dangerous. I have seen it knocked over twice previously and again at our visit this weekend.

Hubby and I stop by this cute joint for some ice-cream while visiting Hudson. Super nice and friendly staff. I had the Lavender Earl Grey flavor, very fragrant and not too sweet which I like. Hubby had the mango which he said it’s not creamy enough to his liking.

Yelp
I got the miso strawberry! I really liked the texture of the ice cream, and the taste of strawberry. But if you didn't tell me it was miso, I wouldn't have known; and would've loved some more of the shining through. But ultimately, it was tasty ice cream, and I'd come back for that scoop. PS, I didn't feel any warmth from the ice cream scoopers, would've loved some more of a welcoming vibe to the spot. I'm just so used to ice cream staff being sooooo freaking kind I guess

Sharon L.

Yelp
Super interesting flavor combinations! I'm unfortunately a bit boring & safe when it comes to ice cream flavors, so I ordered a raspberry & passionfruit sorbet instead. Both flavors were deliciously tart & refreshing, and perfect for the summer! Within our group, a few brave souls tried the miso strawberry. kombucha, and other flavors, and they noted that the flavor combinations here work really well together. Prices are similar to NYC prices - around $6.25 for a single scoop cup.

Yelp
Miso Roasted Strawberry ice cream. I didn't know that was a thing I needed in my life until recently, but now I'm here to tell you that it's a thing you need in your life. This cute little shop is comfortably laid out, and adorably decorated. They seem to specialize in avant garde flavors, and kefir ice cream (good for the gut health). Some of the combinations are not my cup of tea, and I do wish they had some more traditional flavors for the kiddos, but like I said, miso roasted strawberry ice cream is bangin'. A warning: If you're a big city person in a rush, you may run into a snag. Everyone here is operating on country time, and if you're unlucky enough to have someone order a shake in front of you, you might be waiting around for a while.

Yelp
Seeing this place online was part of the telling my mom to move to Hudson years ago (she did not because she prefers more rural) So yeah once vacationing in the area (to show my mom what she's missing) we of course had to come here. My son enjoyed his ice cream and I enjoyed mine. What a cute place too. Service was good.

Mike C.

Yelp
We give it a 3 for creativity and a zero for value. $6:25 for a tiny cup of ice cream. You will encounter such flavors as Miso w Roasted Strawberry (decent but not amazing), Coffee Kombucha, and Mango Merquen Kefir. The decor is super cute but the temperature was ridiculously hot inside. Basically i felt like i was in Brooklyn but upstate which is more or less all of Hudson lol. But people seem to love it so many I'm just not buying into what their aesthetic is.

Lauren S.

Yelp
A colorful and fun storefront with eclectic flavor pairings, like peach and basil - delicious!

Christa A.

Yelp
I really liked my coconut lime sorbet and plan to go back and try other flavors. The young man who served me was very friendly. I enjoyed the unique decor and menu options

Leah O.

Yelp
I think Culture Cream has really creative flavors and the texture of the ice cream is perfect, very very creamy. Of the couple ice creams our group tried, we didn't love any of the favors. It just wasn't for us but I think if it interests you, give it a shot! But the store front is super cute, has a great vibe to hang out in. And the employee working was super kind and helpful. We also got a brownie that was very rich!

Danielle M.

Yelp
This place is the bomb dot com! I can not explain enough how much I loved this spot. The flavors were so creative and delicious. They have so many vegan options! I got the Matcha and Earl Grey Lavender which were so amazing individually and even more amazing combined. The ambience of this place was so cool. Very plant forward and in cool and funky colors. The owner was there and she as the nicest. They also had some cool product you can buy! I can not wait to take all my friend here!

Bonnie S.

Yelp
I had the miso and roasted strawberry. Like Michael, I wouldn't have known it had miso in it, but it was delicious. And the server was very nice. My 6 year old granddaughter opted for the vanilla with cardamom, which surprised me. She's not a very adventurous eater and I thought she might not like the flavor of cardamom, but she loved it. Two small portions cost more than $17 which seems really high (more than our lunch), but that's Hudson, I guess.

Yelp
I got the miso caramel in a waffle cone and it was delish!! Made my belly feel so happy :) It's adorable inside and the cashier was very kind. I love unique flavors of ice cream, especially ones that are gut friendly. Such a good concept!

Yelp
Fantastic ice cream (kefir) and sorbets. Delicious unusual flavors like miso strawberry. Yum!

Yelp
So we stopped in here between train rides and the kids wanted ice cream. However this isn't much of an ice cream place for kids. All three of them did not like one flavor. It was very unique flavors, it was priced very high and had bad after taste. The kids then decided they wanted milk. We were charged 5.00 a cup of milk. The person rang up as a latte which makes no sense. Also it was very hot inside of the store. Nothing mad sense haha I won't be back.

Yelp
Loved this place and so did my vegan girlfriend. The attendant Aaliyah was super cool and let us try a bunch of flavors . I got the coffee kombucha with toffee crunch on top and my date had vanilla maple swirl with granola vegan style ! Check this place out if you're around - we went to art omi beforehand what a cool day! ;)

Yelp
Yes, their Instagram brought me there, another pastel colored minimalist place with fancy flavors? I had reservations but was pleasantly surprised. & knowing 2 of the small purveyors of chocolate & kombucha that they carry, gave me that push. Their site says they: sell "living ice cream that has many fermented processes that occur before churning, so it's full of probiotics and therefore easier to digest and good for the gut." The creamy options are mostly KEFIR based (essentially that Good centuries old yogurt) based & then there's Kombucha Sorbet options. It's not an "ice cream shop" technically. But there's nothing to miss! Was pretty happy with my $5.50 1 Scoop of half Miso with fermented Strawberry & half Melon Mint. Had no idea what a Miso Kefir-based dessert would taste, but it was good! Probably like how some chefs were combining Balsamic Vinegar & Strawberry. Try It! The Melon Mint was refreshing & cooling, very Summery. Textures are thick but smooth. Samples are allowed, I tried Sweet Corn. Maybe I got an unmixed sample- Too Kefir sour. The girls behind the counter said their most popular flavors are Sage Honey Vanilla, Fermented Strawberry, Miso w/ fermented Strawberry, & Raspberry Kombucha sorbet. Looking forward to trying more! And the interior had a lot of thought behind it, from the front counter design leading upwards to the menus & repurposed 90's high school chairs. There's a little outdoor display box from the former business (possibly a jewerly case?) that had an "Art Show" in it. Cement blocks from the city, to sit on out front for "outdoor dining." A truly creative business!

Yelp
Wooooow! I don't expect to ever see a place like this! My wife and I happened upon Culture Cream while we were walking down Warren and thought we misread the writing on the window...no way somewhere has fermentables, bone broth, coffee, and ice cream!! We were intrigued and went in, and we are so glad we did! I got an affogato with vanilla cardamom kefir ice cream and she got a warm bone broth for on this cold rainy day. It was so unique and impressive that we bookmarked it and hope to get a chance to come back one day. Definitely give it a try. Awesome concept...thanks for being unique and making important things like fermentables in a fun format!

Leslie P.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream in such an adorable and hip downtown neighborhood. I had my suspicions when I saw kombucha ice cream because I love my plain Jane no frills ice cream flavors but I'm glad they do samples because I fell in love with their coffee kombucha immediately. candidly did not taste any "kombucha" nature to it (which i'm happy about). I love kombucha, dont get me wrong, i just dont want it in my ice cream :). Not sure how the other flavors taste but I would come back just to try this again!

Derek O.

Yelp
Had to try all the flavors just because they are so original and fun! Did not disappoint... it's a must try spot when in Hudson

Jenny K. L.

Yelp
An incredible addition to the neighborhood. Love the focus on gut bacteria - had the mango kefir, and it hit the spot perfectly. My friend loved her strawberry miso. Amazingly and unique flavors and a creative vibe. An absolute must for an after meal treat!

luckysquid m.

Yelp
I wish I knew all the ice cream flavors were based from kefir before we walked in (giving the ice cream a zingy yogurt flavor). I probably would have loved this place if I was on a culinary trip through Hudson with other adults. But I was with 5 kids on a hot summer day and 4/5 left disappointed. Should my kids try kefir? Sure. But they wanted the classics- regular strawberry (not lacto fermented ice cream), chocolate, vanilla etc - and that's not available here. Also the shop doesn't seem to have air conditioning. And yes, the scoopers are not friendly, and def don't go out to their way to be friendly to kids. This is probably not the place to take a child for ice cream. Is it delish and an experience? Yes.

Hung V.

Yelp
Dropped by hoping to dive into their more interesting flavors, but looks like everyone else had the same idea - they were all out! Ended up settling for their regular offerings. The ice cream itself? Richer and heavier than I'd typically go for. Maybe I'll give it another shot sometime to see if I can catch those elusive flavors!

Tara T.

Yelp
Culture Cream is a really interesting spot--alluring exterior and interior, interesting items in the case and on the shelves, and a fun menu. Their "ice cream" is more like frozen kefir and other types of probiotic things--really tasty and healthier tasting than a typical ice cream. I got the strawberry lacto-something and it was really tasty, just a hint tangy with good, strong strawberry flavor. Staff was friendly with trying flavors, which was nice.

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I love sweets more than the average person so was excited to try but this place didn't hit for me. Everything had a weird flavor and texture to me. The brown sugar cinnamon brownie ice cream wasn't good. Only took a bite and couldn't stomach it. The early grey lavender was funky. The people are and the store has great decor but the product missed. Maybe it was just me.

Tsering D.

Yelp
Service was great! The coffee though...... it was too acidic!! And the oat milk was spoiled!!!! We had to replace them asap. The ice cream was meh and not worth $6.75 for that small cup. Cute place though.

Mike Z.

Yelp
Highly interesting flavors! The staff were very accomodating with trying flavors, so I got to try the sweet corn, strawberry miso, and plum miso. All the flavors hit the spot and tasted on point. The ice cream texture was also satisfying. Note: the hours on yelp appear wrong! I am here on a Wednesday and it is open.

Dechen T.

Yelp
The most verdant, vibrant oasis of nourishment and pleasure in the Hudson Valley area. Just stop by for the ambience, the art and music and colors. Just being in the space will make you feel well and whole. You can order a super fancy off beat flavor of ice cream. Bring your most finicky hipster friend and they will live you forever for bringing them here. So many succulent tastes, you can't expect to get the whole experience of this wonderful place in only one visit! This ice cream is beyond mortals, it is an ambrosia factory for gods who have not been born yet.

Geoffrey N.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Culture Cream mid afternoon after many hours of vintage furniture shopping. The shop's appearance was so inviting, we were drawn in like moths to a flame. They had a decent line which was a great sign. We tried their Miso ice cream with strawberries and ice cream sandwich. Ice Cream Sandwich was different with a strong lavender taste. Almost like eating soap? But not that extreme. After the 3rd or 4th bite, my taste buds adjusted and I was really enjoying it. The Miso ice cream was really good. It had a strong miso flavor and with the bits of strawberry, each bite was sweet, salty, and tart. The prices are a bit high in my opinion but I guess this is what "craft ice cream" is. One annoyance was they were sold out of most flavors. The Miso flavor was our 3rd choice. In fairness, they do put a "sold out" sign next to the flavors but the sign was noticeable until we got close enough to the menu board. The white background of the sign with the red letters blended in with the board and the rest of the wording. Also, it was odd to us that an ice cream shop that primarily sold ice cream would be sold out of certain flavors in the middle of a Saturday where there are still customers lining up.

Kim G.

Yelp
Walked in after dinner, the menu was unique but fun. We got a variety of different kinds, some better than others, most of us liked the chocolate the best. Great place to try when in Hudson. Pleasant and friendly staff too!

Nicole G.

Yelp
First of all, I can appreciate a unique flavor. My bf and I got a pint of the tahini cookie dough kefir ice cream and there were like approximately 2 chunks of cookie dough in the entire pint. Honestly the whole thing was a little disappointing and didn't even really taste like tahini either.

Adam G.

Yelp
Bad icecream overpriced. I'm sorry. Hopefully I will have a healthier gut but idk ok lol

Erica A.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place because the ambiance is cute and cozy. But they seem to care more about my gut health than the flavor of their ice cream. I got the lavender Earl Grey which sounds lovely but was very mild and a little soapy. The place feels more like a gimmick than a business that's planning to be around for a while. The service was okay enough but the server was at a disadvantage because they were all out of a couple of flavors.

Eli D.

Yelp
My post is based on my coffee experience & overall impressions of the location, which were great. I stopped by on a COLD day over MLK weekend so I didn't try the ice cream, but I will be back in the summer! I loved the overall vibe of the place, lots of color and energy. I enjoyed hanging out and sipping on my coffee. Lovely staff.

Lavonne H.

Yelp
The menu items looked interesting enough to get me in the shop. Unfortunately their flavors sound better than the taste. I tried the matcha kefir and the earl grey lavender kefir. The matcha wasn't bad but had that bad aftertaste of just drinking kefir. The earl grey tasted nothing like the tea. Lavender has a strong taste and again did not seem like there was any in it. Something that was weird and threw me off was the chocolate chips that was in it but it wasn't on the menu. Would have been nice to let me know that the chocolate was in it. Maybe that was the issue with this flavor, weird aftertaste and the chocolate took over the 2 main ingredients. Service was ok and the ambiance was colorful. The value wasn't worth it so can't recommend mainly on taste.

T K.

Yelp
Often delicious, always interesting flavors. Service is regularly moody, BS nonsense. Most flavors are sold out.

Joanne H.

Yelp
Pretty interesting flavors! Trying to hit for home runs and not all of them made it. Each person gets to try 3 flavors so we tried a few to find one we really like. Most of them are Kefir based which was interesting good - not like your normal ice cream but not bad. We ended up getting black sesame (strong flavor) and blood orange with olive oil (flavorful but a tad too sweet). These are both the current season flavors. Lost a star because a bit pricey for size and not all flavors were great.

T N.

Yelp
Great instagram. If they have your preference as advertised it can be tasty. But two in three times they won't have your preference. So be prepared to have a back-up option. And then be prepared for the disinterested teenagers "serving" you and your scoop. Service with an attitude. Sure adds a little sour taste to the experience.

Hana K.

Yelp
Stopped by after a trip to Omni Art. The coffee kombucha flavor was amazing, from a person who loves coffee and kombucha equally.

Pranda P.

Yelp
The flavors were strong and vibrant, but very try hard. Only worth tasting, because a cup would be an unbearable and overwhelming amount of flavor. After trying several flavors of ice cream I decided to opt out for an iced matcha because I felt uncomfortable requesting additional samples. Paid 6 bucks for a cup of milk with 5% matcha stirred into it. At least my milk cup wasn't filled with ice, earning this place a extra star. I will not return.

Jayson M.

Yelp
I'm from NYC and I Fell in love with Miso Roasted Strawberry when I was here in the summer. Best ice cream parlor in NY . Would like to give praise to Analise for such a wonderful service , patient with me trying different flavors.. u better give her a raise unless she owns the place:)

Georgia H.

Yelp
I stopped by on a day trip with a friend to Hudson. The flavors and fermentation thing really drew us in. However, it didn't deliver. The service was really slow. The ice cream itself wasn't creamy. The corn ice cream really tasted like corn, which I did appreciate. But it was icy. The blackberry lavender sorbet was pretty syrupy, too. The chocolate chunks I got on top were crumbly. The concept is interesting, and I would be willing to come back and maybe try something else next time. Maybe we just chose the wrong flavors and came on an off day.

Angela H.

Yelp
Wow; saw some negative reviews and my jaw dropped. I cannot imagine not LOVING this place. I do. Unequivocally. This is the full-bloom version of the cute little bud that was selling scoops at Back Bar last summer. The lacto-fermented strawberry kept me coming back, and now the new spot has even more amazing flavors. It's a stunning shop, the folks scooping are friendly, and the cream is a dream. Run to Hudson right now and get some of this excellent, creative deliciousness.

Christina W.

Yelp
What a gem! Amazing ice cream, great owner, cool space! Everything you want!

Silv R.

Yelp
Stumbled across Culture Cream while browsing down the main ave on a hot day. The shop has a very fun colorful aesthetic. What I really loved about this place was the unique flavor menu, I went with the lavender earl grey ice cream and loved it! The negative of this location is the long wait lines and no air conditioning! We were sweating while waiting on line. Also wished someone in the shop took care of the cleanliness a little more, there was a lot of trash on the floor and tables were covered with melted ice cream. But other than that, ice cream is definitely worth a try!

Catalina M.

Yelp
Bad cure cream and rude staff member served us, knocking my girlfriends sprinkles everywhere. $6 for an unbalanced and very un-delicious cone of sesame ice cream that had a terrible mouth feel. Do not recommend this spot.

Nora B.

Yelp
We found this store to be extremely pretentious and the ice cream was no good. Weird, unbalanced flavors, almost everything was sold out at 5pm, and the staff were unfriendly. Big miss, especially for a $6 small ice cream.

K G.

Yelp
I wanted to order some kombucha on tap and asked the cashier what was in it. They just replied with the name of the komucha brand, which gave me zero info on a single ingredient or the flavor. They did however give me a sample and said they don't know what's in it. Seems weird to not know anything about what you're selling.

BK G.

Yelp
The best ice cream I have had in I don't know how long. I had the miso with roasted strawberry. It was delicious!
