The 38 Best Restaurants in Nashville

"Curry and Tikka doles out a mean dahi puri, a tender lamb vindaloo, and buttery naan from its unassuming digs on Thompson Lane — that’s thanks to chef Agni Ranjit, who honed his skills in Maneet Chauhan and Brian Riggenbach’s kitchens. Locals have been flocking in and raving about its dishes (most of which are exclusively prepared in a tandoor oven), including inventive twists on the standards like masala fries and a tikka mac and cheese. The restaurant has also launched a lunch buffet that features all of the menu’s greatest hits for $14.99 per person. —JGJ" - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Ellen Fort

The 12 Best New Restaurants In Nashville 2024

"Restaurants are overdoing it with mac and cheese—places nowadays just take any ingredient, toss it in with some cheese and elbow macaroni, and charge $25 for it. That’s not the case at Curry And Tikka, an Indian spot in South Nashville where the tikka mac and cheese contains large chunks of bell pepper and a healthy swirl of spicy tikka masala sauce for around $10. It’s a dish that somehow gets tastier after bites of delhiwalla chicken tikka, a plate of melt-off-the-bone, expertly charred poultry with a visible layer of yogurt and spices. It’s hard to find a better, more affordable (and tasty) lunch than this, especially considering they have a $15-per-person buffet. But whatever you decide to order, make sure it includes some garlic naan, just one of seven homemade breads on the menu, along with some saucy cauliflower manchurian." - ann walczak, carlo mantuano, jackie gutierrez jones 2

Google
Saw this place advertised on Instagram and it was delicious!! There are some kinks which I’ll elaborate on, but overall we enjoyed the food and its flavors. The Tikka Masala is delicious, and we did get it with chicken, but between both me and my husband’s dish, there was a lot of fat on the chicken. We don’t mind a little here and there, but almost every piece was fatty, so it was a little off putting. Also, when it was placed on our table, some of it spilt from the bowls onto the table and splattered, but it was never cleaned up, nor did anyone bring a napkin for us to clean it up so it felt a bit messy. The flavors though in the tikka masala were delicious, as well as the naan!! It all tasted so fresh, and the mango lassi is top tier! We tried the Dahi Puri and that was amazing!! We would go back just for those as a snack! Everything was balanced perfectly. The inside of the restaurant is very open and the host was welcoming upon entering, and we were seated quickly. There was a live DJ for the night that played Indian music; however, there was one lady that was singing for the majority of the time we were there, and it was very…. pitchy you could say. We really enjoyed the Indian music to start and it felt very authentic, but the other songs that were sung, did not fit, needless to say. Unfortunately it was very loud, too. My husband and I couldn’t have much conversation because the singing drowned out so much~ a bit of a bummer since this was our Valentine’s night. Outside of these little elements, it truly does seem like a solid restaurant in the making and they’ve already got a great start underway! We’d love to go back again sometime.

Google
Fantastic food and super nice waitstaff. I got Paneer Tikka Masala and it was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant, I'm an Indian food conisseur and this place rocks. The only thing at all I could think of not perfect is the door. It was really cold today and when someone would come in there was a strong draft that chilled me. It's worth the visit up to Nashville to try this! Also note they have a 10 percent discount for Tesla owners so if you're charging your car there as I was, let them know.

Google
This place is amazing. Fantastic food and attentive professional service. Kale Pakora are Brilliant, and the Tandoori Nashville Hot is a wonderful cross-cultural dish that truly hits the spot.* actually is served with a complimentary beer... I recommend the Kingfisher Lager.

Google
This is the best Indian restaurant in Nashville!! Highly recommend coming here anytime you want to eat Indian. Must orders include the Dehliwalla Chicken Tikka and the chicken Tikka Masala. They were so well flavored. They come with rice. They make their naan in house. And it is delicious. The staff is very friendly. The mango lassi was also great.

Google
Ooh, I like, I like! The food was phenomenal! My server gave great recommendations, which I greatly appreciated, and also explained the dishes I didn't know. The masala soda was good and the butter chicken is amazing. :D The pakoda (veggie fritters) were a bit too seasoned for me but not a dealbreaker. All in all an enjoyable first visit and I will definitely return. I like, I like!

Google
We met up with friends here tonight and had such a delicious dinner! The food was so fresh and flavorful. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and made great recommendations. We can’t wait to go back and try the lunch buffet soon. We tried lots of things, but we only got photos of a few. Highly recommend!

Google
As someone who loves to try restaurants, this spot is amazing!! By far my favorite Indian restaurant in the Nashville area. We got the pani puri and Dahi puri, tikka Mac & cheese, daal makhni, goat dum biryani and naan. Will definitely be returning!!

Google
From the moment we walked in, my party was greeted warmly and brought to our table without much delay. We ordered, a lamb and chicken dish, which were excellent! The flavors and tender meat were mouthwatering. The server returned regularly to check on us and refill our drinks. Service was great, food was as well, and for two people to enjoy a satisfying meal, it was less than $60!

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Garlic naan and mint sauce were out of this world! Don't be deterred by the dark tint on the restaurant windows or the door that is a bit difficult to open -- once you are in, you will be delighted with the lovely decor and attentive service.

Yelp
This spot has been on our list as it's near my home and my partners work. We met here on our lunch break and were able to get in and out within our hour break together! The service was prompt and the food was really phenomenal. We both got our own dishes of Tikka Marsala and split a Garlic Naan. We regret not asking for more spice because it was a bit too sweet for our liking. The portions were large enough that we could have split one, took home leftovers which was a pleasant treat for later. We plan to try Butter Chicken next as we heard it's great too! Only complaint is that there was a strong odor upon entering (not at all related to food) and having been in the restaurant industry before, I immediately knew what it was and had to overcome my ick - it made me assume they used dirty mop water to clean or old mops or the same mops for the restrooms as the main dining. That's not a reason not to come, but definitely something that could be addressed so it feels more inviting!

Yelp
Curry and Tikka is so cute! So many friends have recommended this spot to me - and I was really looking forward to my first visit. Their fun fusion menu has something for Indian food fanatics and newbies alike. The restaurant was moderately busy, but our group of four was able to grab a table right away on a Saturday around 7 PM. Their menu is expansive - and if you're not familiar with Indian cuisine, I recommend taking a peek beforehand. We started with an order of the Tikka Mac & Cheese, which is a combo that just makes sense. It's saucy and cheesy and full of flavor. We also shared the Lamb Sliders, which are enormous, and quite tasty too. Butter Chicken is a must-order for me at any Indian restaurant, and Curry and Tikka's is warm and comforting. We also tried their Aloo Gobi, which is a fun mix of spice and textures, and a side of Garlic Naan. Indian food often makes for excellent leftovers, and the portions here are large enough to ensure that you'll have enough to make a second meal. We didn't try any of their desserts this time, but noted the Gulab Jamun Cheesecake and their lunch buffet, for next time!

Yelp
Yet another mediocre and mundane Indian restaurant. I tried the Saturday linch buffet and boy it was so ordinary and non-exciting. What disappointment me the most was the tandoori naan which felt like it was brought from costco and just warmed in microwave. Seriously, if you are calling yourself a north Indian restaurant, please get your tandoor game strong. Plus points for not adding artificial red color in the tandoori chicken, but that should not be the baseline. Service was just okay and ambience was boring and typical.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch and had an excellent meal. I'm admittedly a rookie when it comes to Indian food, but this place was awesome. The service was good and the music was upbeat and fast-paced which helped to keep the energy up during a long work day. We started off with an order of the Dahi Puri and it just lit my tastebuds up with flavor like fireworks on the 4th of July. Next came out or entrees, fish in Malabar curry and Shahil paneer. Both were so good and I couldn't get enough of them. We also ordered the garlic naan as well as the chili garlic naan and they were both great, but if you like a little spice the chili garlic naan is the way to go. The meal was great and I didn't want it to end. I saw that they have a buffet on the weekends, and I'll definitely be coming back for that.

Yelp
So I was tacky hungry and lacked transportation. I decided to get this from DoorDash and it wasn't what I was anticipating. The food wasn't the worst but, if I were to be honest... I wouldn't order it again. I took the curry home and doctored it up. I would be remiss to not say the chicken was tender.
google avatar

Gourija M.

Yelp
We loved the freshness of the ingredients and the focus on flavor. My husband ordered delhiwaala chicken tikka, the chicken was well marinated and flavorful. My kid's nutella dosa was made in desi ghee and the palak paneer was amazing. I also loved their masala chai.... Good marks to service and ambience.

Yelp
A nice new Indian place to the Nashville area. I have visited Nashville a few times and always had an average experience with Indian restaurants. This time - delicious and perfect. We ordered the NAANZA and a tandoori chicken for appetizers. The NAANZA is a nice new Indian twist for pizza that is served on a naan bread. The tandoori was quite routine - just like the other Indian places. We ordered goat dum biryani for main course. Served with a lot of pieces, spiced up on request and on-point. I loved everything about my lunch today.

Yelp
A delicious Indian lunch buffet! Visited for lunch with 2 friends and was very impressed by the lunch buffet. Restaurant is clean with lots of seating. The buffet is large with lots of vegetables, rice, proteins, sauces, and dessert. The food has a nice spice level and is kept warm in large Dutch ovens. Staff are friendly and attentive. They will bring you water and warm Naan when you order the lunch buffet. The $15 lunch buffet is a very good deal and I recommend trying it.

Yelp
My husband and I live in South Nashville and we have been wanting the convenience of an Indian restaurant close to us. The recently opened Curry & Tikka made us so happy to see! They are located in the Kroger shopping center on S. Thompson and there is plenty of parking. We went for dinner on a weekend and although it was slow when we first got there earlier in the evening it started to pick up. We saw many people poking their head in the door and checking this spot out. Our favorites of the evening were the Afghani murgh tikka which are bone-in chicken wings and the chicken tikka masala with naan. We also really enjoyed the naanza and the paani puri/dahi puri. The owners are so sweet and we enjoyed speaking to them. They are really passionate about the food which is evident. We can't wait to come back.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
I had a great time/experience here. I loved all the food we ordered and the staff was so friendly and attentive! The chef himself came out to chat with us and give us recommendations. we tried Paani Puri for the first time which was such a fun experience! I highly recommend the Nashville hot tandoori chicken, so good! Definitely recommend this for a great dinner option, plus the leftovers taste just as good the next day.

Yelp
We stopped by Curry and Tikka a few days ago and it was delicious! The restaurant was not too busy and there was plenty of seating available. The service was friendly but slowed down a little towards the end of the meal. To start, we ordered the masala fries which were delicious! Perfectly crispy fries with a delicious seasoning that is making my mouth water as I write this review. We then shared two dishes, the Tikka Mac & Cheese and Aloo Ghobi. The Tikka Mac & Cheese was a part of the "India with a Twist" menu and was a fresh recreation of a classic dish. Although the meal itself was small, every bite was delicious. The Aloo Ghobi was a bigger serving of food and featured cauliflower and potatoes tossed with tomatoes and onions. The tomato came through with each bite, adding a nice savory taste that paired well with the potato and cauliflower. Finally, we also got a side of the butter naan. Although it had a little too much butter for me, it was still great! I'm surprised I had not come across Curry and Tikka earlier! Great meal!
google avatar

Lynnette G.

Yelp
Beware, they bring the heat! I ordered the chicken tikka masala in low heat and my mouth was still on fire. The flavors were delicious and perfectly complimented the garlic naan. Service was super quick and there's ample parking. Portions are quite large and easily shareable with a side of naan. Sodas are by the can only, but our waitress kept waters full. Highly recommend this place for Indian food!
google avatar

Aswathi C.

Yelp
Starters gave high hopes. All of them were amazing. The gobi manchurian and hariyali paneer tikka were really good. Also masala chai was so good. The chilli paneer was a little sour so if that's your palate it'll work. Customer service is spectacular, I mean very respectful and mindful of all your requests. The desserts were really good, falooda (would like it in a jar rather than a small dessert bowl though), Gulab jamun was good (but they honestly said it's not made here). The main course we ordered were veg biryani, batura, butter naan, Shahi paneer, didn't feel that good. Overall good experience.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
So glad I saw an online review recommending this spot! We really enjoyed our dinner of samosa chaat, "naanza" (like a naan pizza) with chicken, and goat biryani. Everything was very flavorful, and the unique dishes were a plus--there are definitely more on the menu we want to try in the future. Don't let the dark window coverings fool you: the space inside is light and comfortable, and service was very attentive. Also worth noting is that the prices are very reasonable, especially given the high quality of ingredients. I'd definitely recommend you visit if you like Indian comfort food.
google avatar

Yelp
New go-to Indian spot!! My wife and I loved every item we ordered. The chicken tikka masala was our favorite. Also, the waitress was super friendly. She knew the menu well and gave great recommendations.
google avatar

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Not only do they have the standard tasty Indian dishes, but my husband's favorite Shahi flavor, delicious naan options, and unique treats like paneer burrito, chicken tikka quesadilla, and chicken tikka Mac and cheese. Prices are great for Nashville. No wonder this place was featured on Nashville Hidden Gems!

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE. my bf and i have visited for dinner and for the buffet. wait staff is soo nice and the food is BOMB. i included the bathroom pic bc i love when an establishment is good at food AND ethics. we will be back!!

Yelp
I was shocked at how good this place was. We're talking Taj Indian good. The food really popped. The servers were attentive and gracious.
google avatar

Adele L.

Yelp
I love the food here! The service is friendly and welcoming. It's particularly helpful that your spiciness preferences are asked. Tesla drivers should take note that they receive a 10% discount. The Tesla Supercharger is steps away. I like to start my charging session, walk over to the Kroger (western entrance) and use their restroom in the NW corner of their store. Then I walk back with my hands washed, a paper towel in my hand to disconnect the cable. Usually I've gotten enough charge to continue my trip by then, and I can avoid idle fees. Then I can enjoy an uninterrupted lunch. You can also make your order ahead of time to go if you're in a rush. That little walk to Kroger is perfect for recovery from sitting so long on your journey. This restaurant is perfect for airport pick ups and drop offs...especially since BNA is so close.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
I'll admit the food was solid here despite being a little spicy for me asking (and being told "yes") if our dishes could be prepared non-spicy. The host was also the only server (we arrived at noon) and the service was mediocre. Finally, the floors in the back part of the restaurant were ice-rink slick from grease and one of the two bathrooms was out of service and the toilet seat on the one that "worked" was broken and wouldn't stay up. All of this doesn't inspire faith in the kitchen's cleanliness. Hopefully there won't need to be an edit to this post for digestive after effects.

Yelp
Damn this food was good as fuck. Generous portions, tasty crispy naan, fresh rice, delicious sauce.

Yelp
I wanted this to be be better than it was, but it was still definitely good. The waiters are super sweet (while it did take them a while to get to us even to give us our waters, they apologized PROFUSELY after). I feel like what Curry and Tikka does well is their protein, and some of their fusion items. They're unique, I'll definitely give them that, just not sure they're the most well executed. Here's what I tried (we got everything Medium-spicy): -Tikka Mac-n-Cheese - 8/10 - I actually did enjoy this. I wanted it to be more, but it let me down a little bit on the spice front. I wish there was more Indian flavor to it, but it is definitely very cheese and noodle forward. That's hard to go wrong, with, though. -Tandoori Chicken: 11/10 - Omg the BEST Tandoori Chicken I've ever had! They don't use any dyes so it comes out brown instead of bright red, but the spice is so flavorful and decadent. The real wow factor was just how MOIST and tender the chicken was. I have NO idea how they managed to do it but it was literally not a even a tiny bit dry. You have to get this for sure. -Naanza - 7/10 - Not bad, but I was searching for the Indian flavors. The naan was crisped up so you didn't really get that classic texture, and it was mostly just pretty cheesy and chicken forward. Wish there was more unique flavor to this one. -Lamb Rogan Josh - 7.5/10 - Thoroughly enjoyed the lamb. The flavor was awesome and it was well cooked. The rogan josh sauce, however, wasn't the best I've had. It was not bad, by any means, but it could have been richer and more flavorful. -Palak Paneer - 8.5/10 - The texture of spinach curry was so so silky, and it had a nice kick to it and tasted very well seasoned. The Paneer was as expected, and we really enjoyed this dish overall. I wouldn't come back, but I'd say it was still a good meal!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible hidden gem right off Thompson Lane! I will definitely be coming back again, service was excellent and the food was top tier. The restaurant itself was large, clean, and had plenty of seating! Great menu with lots of classic dishes, but I was very interested in the Tikka Mac and Cheese too! I really want to try the lunch buffet next and can't wait for my next visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful food. We brought our own wine (from next door). Nice servers and greeters. Good ambiance. We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Kelsee J.

Yelp
Food was delicious! I had butter chicken, gobi Manchurian and pani puri. I absolutely loved the gobi, it was fried wonderfully and spice level was perfect! The curry was also very nice, I loved the thick texture of the sauce, it held onto the chicken and had amazing flavor. The rice was a bit heavy on the cumin seeds, but I will absolutely be going back. My favorite Indian food in this area so far.
google avatar

Tom L.

Yelp
This spot recently hit Nashville Eater's list of places to eat right now and they weren't kidding. Been twice and consistent each time: fantastic foods of the subcontinent with a Southern spark. The entire menu is superb, but I'd be remiss if I didn't call out my favorites, the rich chicken buryani, the lamb sliders, and the amazingly seasoned Apollo fish fry. The service is warm and personal, as if the family name were on the line. Which it is. Run, don't walk.
google avatar

Sadie L.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Everything was packed with flavor. Chicken was soo tender and nothing was overly heavy. We loved that you could have the chicken without a bunch of rice. Samosa Chat was on point. Flavorful, but had a little kick. Mac and cheese was delicious, but I wouldn't consider it a true Mac and cheese. It was a nice spin in things with spices and bell peppers, but don't expect a large amount of cheese in it. Service was great, but it was busy on a Saturday evening. Make a reservation. We will be back!
google avatar

Princess Q.

Yelp
Easy 5 star! Very clean, and everything we ordered was really good, my favorite is the chicken tikka masala with a side of their basmati rice and garlic naan. Very flavorful and delicious. We also love the service, both the servers we had were very kind, and knowledgeable of the menu. We were also celebrating our pregnancy and they were so thoughtful and sweet to give us a congratulatory treat. We will be coming back again!
google avatar

Paris Z.

Yelp
The food had a lot of flavor! The service was great. The waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and even recommended a dish that was amazing. Great staff and friendly environment. Feels like a small place of peace. It was quiet when I came. There's soft music playing. I will be coming back! From top to bottom, vindaloo chicken, gongura chicken and garlic naan.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
So so yummy. My husband who claims Indian food is his competitive eating food called it the best paneer he had ever eaten. A great variety of food and everything is executed perfectly. Great service, super friendly, we will be back a lot.
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
Had a first dinner based on a word-of-mouth recommendation, and a hankering to finally have some authentic Indian cuisine in the Nashville area. On a Saturday night, the place was nearly empty and I have to assume that the lunch and takeout/delivery business is healthy for the business to succeed. The restaurant is located in a strip mall (and directly across from the Kroger gas pumps), is absent any ambience and the service was a little indifferent: e.g., we were initially seated in the back at the table closest to the bathrooms and kitchen, even with all of the booths along a wall empty (though uncleared and messy from previous diners). Only when requested was a booth cleared for our use. All that being said, the food we had came out hot and well-spiced and was overall excellent and very authentic. In particular, I was told that they use an actual Tandoor clay oven to make the Tandoori chicken, which was perhaps the best I have ever had. A return visit is likely when the hankering for Indian returns!
google avatar

Ronna R.

Yelp
The food was incredible super fresh adding salad to the entrees was a plus. Our server was beyond helpful and everything she recommended was on point. Warm and modern, Can't wait to go back!!

Jackson M.

Yelp
Had to wait a long time for someone to wait on us and it wasn't even busy. Seems a bit lackluster for all of their hype on social media.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for their Sunday lunch buffet and it was delicious! Good spread of options including GF for myself. Everyone enjoyed it.
google avatar

Kelvin R.

Yelp
Service was great. Enjoyed a wonderful evening with the misses. Had the Garlic Naan, Vindaloo chicken and gongura chicken (might have butchered that word a little). But food was superb and flavorful and the environment was great. Def gained a customer today.

Yelp
GREAT place ! ... lots of these gems are in shopping centers as you know' Behind these doors is a wonderful restaurant .... and vibe! Tranquil music (I always prefer Indian music - in general ,the music indigenous of the restaurants area) great service and fantastic food! For starters the BEST garlic Naan I've ever sampled-fresh and even some crisp parts , the right amount of garlic and spice ..WOW! The vegetable Korma - SUPER... the peas seem to exploded in my mouth with every bite! ...a wide variety of foods and fusion complete with a few Chinese offerings and various on traditional dishes- EXCELLENT-can't wait to keep sampling

Yelp
Nice buffet selection at lunch. Even the non-curry eater in our group enjoyed the food. Pleasant atmosphere. On our list to come again.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Curry and Tikka, and I must say, it was a great experience. From the calm ambiance to the exceptional service, this place is a 10/10. Our waitress deserves commendation for their impeccable service. From the moment I arrived, the waitstaff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We wanted to try a couple things we haven't tried before. She recommended the pav bhaji, aloo tikka chaat, and another dish I cannot name now, but they were absolutely delicious! Curry and Tikka is a hidden gem! I'm excited to go back!

Meghan S.

Yelp
Another awesome meal at Curry and Tikka! We've made it our habit to dine here every time we're in Nashville. The food is always amazing and the service stellar. This is truly one of Nashville's hidden gems.
google avatar

Pierce S.

Yelp
Having had many of the typical "Best Indian Food In Nashville" spots, this beat them all. The food was incredible. We had the chicken kadai, butter chicken, and the daal makhani (which if you've never had, do yourself a favor and get it from here!). The garlic naan was also great. Service was great, our waiter gave us great recs. We'll certainly be back!

Yelp
My husband and I love trying new places so I went on Eater.com to what new restaurants were getting all the buzz. No regrets! The staff was super friendly and the ambiance was native to the culture. The food was AMAZING!! We came mid afternoon when they were having their buffet but they let us order off the menu which was very kind. We had two versions of Naan, the Cauliflower Manchurian, Chicken Dum Biryani and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Everything was incredible and we cannot wait to come back! Cheers to much success!!

Yelp
wow, the food here is amazing. Every dish is so unique. I just left the buffet. I highly recommend their lunch buffet. Many options and lots of very flavorful things. Best naan in Nashville.

Yelp
Excellent! The service was great and very attentive. The food was even better. We ordered the lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken and were all very pleased. Portions were a great size and their garlic naan was fantastic.

Yelp
Underwhelming. I love food from these cultures, but I'm not seeing it here. I ran in here while my car was charging. The menu does not list half of the ingredients that they put into the dishes. So you better not be too picky.
