"The Japanese curry from Curry Hyuga in the Mission pulls us in when we want a filling, comforting, and affordable meal, but we also love their creamy corn potage soup for its super sweet corn flavor that lingers on your tongue. There are six curry rice plates to choose from, like the signature katsu curry with pork loin or chicken cutlet and the double menchi curry with minced pork fried to an ASMR-inducing crisp. Each plate can be customized almost limitlessly, with six pepper shakers on each table and the option to add additional karaage, vegetables, cheese, pickles, and even an egg. But don’t let all the toppings distract you from the main event: the rich curry and crunchy katsu—you can get extra of both of those too (and you should)." - Ricky Rodriguez

"Noriaki Kojima and Masayuki Tadokoro rushed to get a permit to open Curry Hyuga on March 16, just hours before the Bay Area’s shelter-in-place order took effect, the SF Chronicle reports. It now offers a limited menu of house-made Japanese curry, which is available for online ordering, takeout, and delivery." - Eve Batey

Google
Quaint Japanese curry restaurant, located in old downtown Burlingame. Hyuga has a focused menu on curry-based dishes, but the curry itself was surprisingly average in taste. Generous portions for each order. Staff was very friendly and efficient. Limited street parking, but several paid parking lots nearby.

I wanted to be reminded of the delicious comfy food I could get back in Japan. The authenticity and simplicity is what really makes this meal hit home. The curry was delicious with a nice sweet tang and spice to it. It truly gives off warm cozy vibes. The pork katsu is perfectly crisp and goes so well with the curry. The chewiness is exactly how I like it and the pickled veggies and potato that accommodate the dish does not overwhelm the experience. The star of the show is the corn soup! Wow that dish is just so perfect I would come back here just to have multiple bowls of it! Overall a great experience and relatively quick. The gentlemen was very efficient and attentive to the small details. Good job!

Came here in September with a friend and his family. We came out full and extremely satisfied. Haven’t had Japanese curry in ages, and this place hit the spot. I ordered the potato croquette with curry, cabbage, and potato salad. Such a delicious curry sauce! The potato/corn croquette was creamy inside and crispy outside. I was blown away by the taste and texture. I licked my plate clean 😋😋😋 My friends had the pork meat curry and chicken karaage dish. It was plenty of food to go around! Highly recommend this place! They also have a place in Cupertino, not too far where I live. I am fortunate to try it closer to my place!

I recently dined at Curry Hyuga and had a fantastic experience! We ordered the katsu curry and the karaage curry, along with some Teppanji. The service was impressively fast and efficient, which made our meal even more enjoyable. The food itself was absolutely delicious! The flavors were vibrant, and each dish was perfectly cooked. The Katsu was crispy and paired wonderfully with the rich curry sauce, while the karaage was tender and bursting with flavor. The Teppanji added a delightful touch to our meal.

Yummy as always. Nothing we have tried on the menu that we don't like. Such a hidden gem in the quaint Burlingame area. Absolute bang for the buck. Must try: Teppanji appetizer.

The menu wasn't overly complicated. With a service bell at the table, servers came quickly when summoned. The food came to the table in a timely manner. For me, I felt I would have enjoyed more rice with my curry order. If you look carefully at the photo I included, there is raw cabbage on top of the rice, creating the illusion of more rice. I have eaten Japanese-style curry rice at a similar price point from many different restaurants, so I feel confident I can say most restaurants I have visited serve more rice with their curry.

Google
A small and lovely restaurant. Curry is on the thinner end but with great flavor. I tried the fried chicken as an appetizer and loved it to get it as the curry. The chicken curry OG is the way to go. The milk tea is also solid at a reasonable price point as milk teas go.

Popular curry restaurant in downtown Burlingame. Parking can be tight during dinner hours but wasn’t too bad if you circle around the neighborhood. We put our reservation on the iPad once inside and waited 10 minutes before we were seated on a Friday night. We ordered the signature curry and added one fried Menchi to it. We also got the katsudon set menu. The food arrive fairly quickly, the portions are huge, you may have to take leftovers home. The fried menchi was really good! The katsu was thick but instead of chicken, next time we would get the pork katsu. The katsudon set came with a cucumber salad, miso soup, and a thick katsu over eggs and rice. It was very good, especially adding the orange habanero spice on the table which added a kick to it. This is one our our favorite curry places, I would come back next time to try the beef hayashi on rice!

Yelp
I've been meaning to try here for years and I am so happy to finally get the chance to. Being rated one of the best curries in the bay, I had to try. The place is super cute, a little small but lots of tables. We came on a Sunday at noon and were immediately seated! The servers were all so cheerful and helped us whenever we called using the button on the side. We placed our order and it came out after ten minutes. This curry was delicious!! One of the best I have ever had. I love how savory and thick the curry was. The katsu was so juicy and crispy, it was perfect. The serving side was very generous, and I had such a great meal. I definitely would go again and try the other dishes!

Yelp
Solid curry spot! Meat portions do seem a bit small compared to other curry spots for my liking, but it's a "fair" portion size. It was a nice hot dinner pick on a cold day! Service was also quick, attentive and efficient. Chicken karaage appetizer: delicious, hottest chicken ever, felt like a near burn when i grazed my lip! Spread it open for the inside to cool down, it's really tender inside. And try it with some of the spices on the table. Portion size here was about half of what we got from amami sushi, at similar price points. Signature katsu curry (chicken cutlet): crispy and tender. Would be perfect with maybe 3-4 more pieces of meat. Signature katsu curry (pork loin): rougher and chewier compared to chicken. Do not recommend pork. Go with chicken. Corn potage: nice sweet corn side.

Lesly M.

Yelp
I think the experience would have been better if the food came in slight hot, but it was barely warm. It would've enhanced the flavors more. Got cold even faster. The five choices of spice is nice for all to choose their level. The service is top notch! Checked in on us often. Very welcoming and appreciative. Very kind too and had smiles on their faces. The place was cute, clean and comfy!

Yelp
Plenty of parking nearby (meters) and comfortable cushion seating make for a relaxed dining experience. The restaurant is brightly lit, and I was welcomed instantly by the staff and seated quickly. The dine-in menu is simple, and each table has a call button for assistance if needed--a convenient touch. I ordered the classic signature katsu curry with pork loin, and it was fantastic. The pork was incredibly juicy, tender, and full of flavor--no knife needed to cut through it! The curry itself isn't the typical S&B powder base you find at so many places; it's thicker, richer, and has a depth of flavor that stands out. I've tried plenty of Japanese curry spots, both chains and mom-and-pop shops, and too many rely on the basic S&B mix. This was on another level. The potato salad and fukujin pickles balanced the dish perfectly, adding a nice contrast. I also tried the karaage chicken side, and it felt like such a great deal. Made with chicken thighs, the batter was thin and crispy, chicken pieces big and juicy, and the portion was generous for the price. The corn potage soup was another highlight--piping hot, creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of croutons for texture. If it hadn't been so hot, I probably would've downed the whole thing in one go. Service was spectacular. Even with a packed house, the server made sure I was well taken care of and did so with a smile throughout. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in town for my thrifting runs!

Yelp
The best Japanese curry in the Bay Area, I feel like I'm transported to Japan. I wish they didn't charge for extra pickles though.

Joseph M.

Yelp
I had some time to spare before my NOC shift and I wanted to grab some grub so here I am. I ordered the signature katsu curry w/chicken cutlet. The curry has very delicious and complex flavors. It paired really well the chicken cutlet. The portion sizes are also pretty huge and it comes at a reasonable price. I've never tried Japanese curry before, but I can definitely say after today that I'm a fan. The service here was decent. The food arrived pretty quickly and my waiter came back often to refill my water. The restaurant is kinda small inside but at the time I came there was only one other person eating. For parking there are a lot of paid meter parking nearby. Try it out if you like. :)

Yelp
Authentic curry! Love how tasty the said is. Service was pretty quick. Great place to eat with friends with lots of seating. The chicken Karaage is good too

Samantha D.

Yelp
Great option for Japanese curry. Ordered the signature katsu curry with pork loin. They have various spices on the side if you want to make it spicy. I liked it as it was. The katsu was a little on the drier side. The chicken was more moist than the pork which was surprising. Definitely think chicken katsu is the way to go if you choose that option. The karaage was was also very good, and the pieces were huge. Corn potage soup is a good appetizer. Loved the creaminess of the soup. Sweet and savory. The portions are good. Definitely is filling and then some. Even though it was a weekend, there was only one server at the time, so you could be waiting a little to order. However, not too big of an issue. They've opened a location in SF too.

Loralei P.

Yelp
Food was great, crispy pieces of tonkatsu dipped in delicious cyrry sauce. Service was fast and the dtaff was accommodating, we lucked out since theres always a long line waiting for tables, the place was big and decorated minimally. Def reccomend this spot.

Andrew R.

Yelp
I've been to the Curry Hyuga in SF before, and was in the area and gave this location a shot. Overall I did not have the best experience. To start, we were seated without a menu, and there were no QR codes or anything so we had to search for the menu online. We then clicked the order button, which didn't seem to work, because even after clicking it another time, no waiters came for a solid 5-10 minutes. I ordered the classic teishoku rice plate with chicken-katsu, and was less than impressed. The chicken and the curry were both cold. This is one of those dishes that I really want to be fresh and hot, so this was definitely disappointing. Additionally the sides that came with the meal were all mediocre at best. Even the dry seasonings on the table didn't seem to have much flavor, except for one of them. The restaurant is really cute and the prices are reasonable, however the food and service just didn't make up for it.

Yelp
Came here for dinner around 5:30 pm Sunday and it was busy! You put your name on the waitlist and it was only about a 20 min wait. They were busy, but the turn-around of the tables were quick. I ordered the signature chicken katsu curry ($16.50) and a side of their corn soup ($5). Soup was rich and creamy. Perfect for the winter night! The chicken katsu plate was ginormous! Chicken was nicely battered and the meat was juicy. Curry flavor was thick, rich and hearty. Well worth the wait!

Lauren T.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we happened to visit during an anime convention nearby, so we had to wait quite a while. However, once we were seated, the food came out quickly. I ordered the chicken karaage curry, and I was really impressed by the depth of flavor in the curry. It was rich and savory, though I would have loved to see some veggies--like potatoes, carrots, and onions--added to the dish. The chicken itself was perfectly crispy and light, which made for a great combination with the curry. Would love to return soon.

Yelp
curry hyuga located along broadway...mostly metered parking, but some free parking in the residential streets...lunch with a child and taking the signature katsu curry (pork selected) with curry on the side $16.50...additional chicken karage topping $5 extra to share...inside is clean with a sprinkling of customers...not too busy...noticing 5 canisters of spices on the table...meal arriving and looking like the perfect amount of food for one adult and a child...curry served in a separate bowl as requested...sweet and flavorful...crunchy katsu and karage fried perfectly with drizzling of katsu sauce on the pork katsu...trying out the spices and oh wow!...some are super spicy!...watch out now!...wiri wiri is really spicy!...sweating just thinking about it....the curry is good and perfect with rice...the katsu and karage were both very tasty...a great comforting lunch...

Yelp
My friend introduced me to Curry Hyuga, so we decided to eat here for a friend meet-up. The restaurant is located in downtown Burlingame, so street parking can be difficult to find. The restaurant itself is quite small, so it can be quite the wait on a busy night. The staff were friendly and quick to attend to our needs. To start, we went with the Teppanji, which is sizzling chicken with onion infused namban sauce. This was a good appetizer to snack on while we waited for the curry dishes. I ordered the Signature Katsu Curry, you can pick between pork loin or chicken cutlet. Every curry dish includes rice, shredded cabbage, potato salad, and red pickles. The katsu was perfectly cooked and breaded, each piece was a delicious bite. The curry was full of umami flavor. I also appreciated the addition of potato salad and red pickles, they made for a great side to the katsu curry. Overall, if you're looking for a Japanese curry spot, Curry Hyuga is the perfect restaurant to satisfy those cravings.

Winnie K.

Yelp
Great curry and well done service. Been here twice and both times I had good experience with the food and service. The curry was a bit salty, fried pork was great, not bad.... Not the best Japanese curry in Bay Area but would say it's top 5... by the way the doc really reminds me of Japan.... Food came out really fast and corn soup is nice to have... Oh! Not to mention that they do charge corkage fee and cake fee if you choose to bring one!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Tasty and flavorful curry for a super reasonable price! On a weekday dinner time They weren't too busy, so we didn't feel rushed at all while eating. It's a cozy atmosphere, and their drinks are also super well priced! The curry had a little spicy kick, and they also have an assortment of different spices on the table. We appreciated that there were a few vegetarian options to choose from too!

Corinne P.

Yelp
This curry warms your soul and brings you back to Japan!! I love this place to get my Japanese curry fix. It tastes very similar like the curries in Japan. It has a great variety of spicy seasonings at the table and good choices of proteins to come with it. If you really like spicy, try the 35,000 scoville level!! We ordered the pork loin curry with extra rice, chicken kaarage, and extra sauce! The sauce is much needed over everything!! It came with potato salad and cabbage as well. Everything was delicious. The service was friendly and you can call them over by using the button at the table. We will definitely be coming back to try other curry dishes.

Margarita R.

Yelp
I was looking for some good comfort food after a day in the Bay and this place with its yummy Japanese curry hit the spot! The place was full even around 8pm on a Saturday night. Ambiance was good - folks who were eating seemed like they were having fun! I picked the Traditional Katsu Curry while the rest of my family chose the Karaage Curry and Curry Udon. All were really yummy and could be our go to classics for our next visit.

Alice N.

Yelp
Not going to lie, I wasn't a fan at first, but I recently gave it another try as takeout, and it was surprisingly good (better than my first in person visit)! Maybe I'm just spoiled from having a spot back in Jersey. I ordered the pork katsu with curry, and both were solid. The curry had great flavor, and the katsu was crispy and well-cooked. Will be coming back the next time I'm craving that curry+katsu combo!

Sarah A.

Yelp
Was leaning toward 3.5 but rounded up because the service was great. We did go on a weekday for early dinner so it was quiet but it started getting busier when we finished. I'm glad we got to try a variety of dishes at Curry Hyuga. There is something nostalgic feeling about this restaurant. Maybe it's the simple old school decor but my favorite thing was the sesame grinder. We had the same exact one in our house growing up. Started with the potato soup which I had never tried before and really liked. We also ordered the katsu combo and the curry with croquettes. We didn't love the spaghetti or the cole slaw in the different dishes. I really enjoyed the side salad with the sesame dressing, I kept stealing bites off of my partner's plate. Again, the service was welcoming and friendly which made it such a pleasant meal experience.

Erich L.

Yelp
I never tried Japanese curry before and this place always has a line outside. Service is casual and friendly. I like that they use electronics for the bills. Tried the standard curry with pork it was a little dry but delicious when soaked in the sauce. Great place for an inexpensive quick meal.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Tucked away in the downtown Burlingame area, curry Hyuga is a gem! I was visiting from socal and was craving curry and was so happy to find a place nearby! My friend and I got here a little before 6 on a weekend and we were seated with the last available table. You ring the bell on your table to let the server know you're ready to order. They took our order promptly and were very friendly when we asked questions. I got the karaage chicken curry with cheese along with corn potage. I can't resist corn potage and I'm glad I ordered it. It was creamy, well seasoned and the croutons were a nice addition too. The karaage was tender and crispy. I liked that I could taste the marinade despite the crisp coating. The curry was delicious and not spicy at all, so I added spice from their selection of 4 different powders. Overall it was a delicious and comforting meal. I'll definitely come back when I'm visiting again!

Junsheng X.

Yelp
Had always heard about this place and finally got a chance to try. Curry Hyuga has a unique recipe on Japanese curry - which is more runny than I'd normally expect from roux. Their curry has good flavor, and I'll always respect a restaurant that is so proud of its menu that it only has limited options. Their karaage was cooked to be very juicy and flavorful as well! What I really liked was the option to choose your own spice level with the condiments they provide, which also include Scoville Level and 5 different options! Be warned though, there was quite a line at 6:30 pm on a Saturday!

Priscilla W.

Yelp
I've frequented Curry Hyuga many times during the COVID pandemic for takeout, and they've been consistently good with food and diligent packaging. I can't stress enough how crucial it is for katsu to be packaged separately from the curry to maintain its crispness (and Curry Hyuga does exactly that). Over the years they've expanded their menu items, such as adding non-curry alternatives katsu-don and teishoku rice plate. All curry rice plates come with shredded cabbage, potato salad, and fukujin pickles. My favorite dish is the chicken katsu curry rice plate. The chicken katsu is nice and moist, and the panko is perfectly crispy and seasoned well. Cabbage and rice portions are generous, and I love the scoop of creamy potato salad on the side. The curry is nice and thick, flavorful with the right amount of spices but not spicy. There's an assortment of chili powders of varying spice level to take your curry up a notch. The restaurant is mid-sized, perfect for up to groups of four; any larger and it would be difficult to get a table during busy hours. Service is pretty standard, hardly checked up on, but it's not a big deal for me. I'm happy to see they've expanded and opened another store in SF, but the Burlingame one would still be my preference due to parking convenience.

Serena L.

Yelp
Chicken Katsudon - 3.9/5, katsu, egg and onion over rice, paired with yellow daikon, chicken miso soup, and some pickled veggies. Katsu is delicious-- obviously not completely crispy, but still has some crunch. The egg and onions are tasty, which in turn make the rice tasty. Although it was flavorful, I honestly felt that it was missing something. The chicken miso soup was not my favorite, I would have preferred basic miso soup lol. Picked veggies were nice to cut through the flavor. Pretty good overall Katsu udon - 4/5, curry udon with katsu and a poached egg. I tasted a bit from my friend, and it had a kick of spice to it. Pretty good, I would try that next.

Jesse F.

Yelp
This is my second time coming in the morning compared to dinner. I'm honestly in love with this place and think people need to come here more often. Their food has been the most consistent and the breading on the chicken is crunchy. I think the menchi is the star of the place. Their corn soup is missing some extra elements to eat but Is really flavorful and has croutons to enjoy it with. I think the karage is what made me come back. My first time the pork cutlet was extra thick and dry compared to the chicken. And the menchi really took away the show this time with its flavor and texture! I wanna keep coming back since the place is perfect for hanging out with friends.

Kevin C.

Yelp
What can I say other than wow! We came here quite hungry for a late lunch and were glad to have the last open booth in an otherwise popular and crowded restaurant. I had the double menchi curry, and the portions were huge and curry was absolutely delicious. Don't get me wrong, the double menchi was great but when I sampled my wife's pork katsu curry, it took it up a notch. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for authentic and amazing Japanese curry.

Brandon C.

Yelp
- perfectly crispy breading on the outside of the pork, really good sesame dressing on the salad - Best curry place in Bay Area!

Erik S.

Yelp
My very last meal on the way out of San Francisco was actually one of the best of my entire trip, and in keeping with my mission to eat as much Asian cuisine as possible while in the Bay Area, it was a fitting end to a delicious visit. Curry Hyuga was a last minute dinner stop because I didn't really want to eat in the airport before my red-eye flight, but I'm glad I found them. Inside, the place is simple. A little bit of retro-americana decor and lots of wood. I was seated right away and given a menu, and put in for an order of Yuzu lemonade, not something you see often in North Carolina. The lemonade was cold and crisp, with a wonderful citrus zest and balance of sweetness. A highly enjoyable complement to my savory meal. For dinner, I ordered what appears to be their speciality, the chicken karaage curry. This type of Japanese curry is also a rarity where I'm from, though you can find several example of Japanese fried chicken... because the south loves fried chicken, and we'll take it however someone wants to fry it. This came with rice, potato salad, some greenery, and of course the brown curry gravy. This gravy SENT ME. What a flavor! I loved mixing up the perfect bite of crispy chicken and rice, rolling it in the sauce, and then chasing it with some cool lemonade. I wish this style of cooking were more prevalent in my area of the world. I would not hesitate to have another meal at Curry Hyuga next time I'm in the area!

Camila Y.

Yelp
Great portion sizes with reasonable pricing! Signature katsu curry (pork) and assorted veggie curry were both very well flavored and everything was still warm including the rice like it was made fresh. Comfortable seating inside and staff are all friendly! I love how efficient they are with the ordering process. Reminded me of eating curry in Japan!

Susan Z.

Yelp
Curry Hyuga slaps every time; I have never had a bad experience here. They consistently serve the best Katsu Curry and I am all for it! The curry sauce is flavorful and just thick enough; katsu is juicy and perfectly fried such that it's crunchy every time. Service is relatively fast, servers are nice. Beware of potential waits on weekends, but otherwise I've been able to snag seats with my party every time! Tip: you can get a dome egg on any entree, just ask ;) The fluffiness and smoothness of the egg elevates your dish that much more!

Natalia B.

Yelp
Very yummy comfort food. My partner and I decided to celebrate our 11yrs together with some delicious curry and we were not disappointed. Every bite was decadent and savory. They give you big portions so you may be bring some home for the next day. I ordered the Signature Katsu Curry which you can choose between chicken or pork. I decided to go with the chicken which had a beautiful crunch in every bite. The plate also comes with white rice and potato salad. The curry is creamy and warm My partner order the Korokke Curry with a potato croquette. I tried the croquette and wish I ordered one for my dish as well. Service was quick and friendly. It's a small place and gets busy very fast. Highly recommend.

Jeany L.

Yelp
Generous amount of food and quality is good! They offer variety of chili pepper that you can explore it wt your dish. Quick service and nice atmosphere for family and friends dining

Uni C.

Yelp
This curry Hyuga restaurant has a few locations in the SF Bay Area, and we visited this one. The interior felt a bit old-fashioned compared to their San Francisco location, but it was still comfortable. The food came out quickly, and the curry was flavorful and satisfying. The pork katsu was cooked well and had a nice crunch, pairing perfectly with the curry. The service was not bad--nothing to complain about. Overall, it's a solid spot for a quick and tasty curry meal, though the ambiance could use a little updating.

Sylvia L.

Yelp
I visited Sunday around 5pm. It was my first time. Very minimal wait time. I am a big curry fan! STARS (stand out qualities) -chicken and pork katsu meats cooked well (moist inside and crispy outside -curry had good flavor -corn soup is good but would not crave it again -clean dining area -clean bathroom -reasonable price -big portions -fast and efficient staff STAIRS (area of growth) -warmer customer service TIPS -come with a big appetite or share if you are not too hungry -local parking lot walking distance or street parking (free in Sundays)

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
Came here for a casual lunch on a tuesday. No wait and quick, friendly service. I got the signature pork katsu curry, which quite large for the price. Pork was nicely crunchy and not too dry. Curry itself was pretty flavorful but heavy, as curry can be. Potato salad was definitely not the best I've had. Overall, I was satisfied with my order but not amazed!

Brenda L.

Yelp
First time trying the Burlingame location of Curry Hyuga! They honestly have one of the best Japanese curries in the bay. I've been to their Cupertino location a few times, but have heard great things ever since they were only located in Burlingame! Everyone comes for the curry obv, but don't sleep on the corn potage soup! The soup honestly my favorite thing ever and I looove how rich and creamy it tastes.I prefer the chicken katsu over the pork katsu, but the chicken karaage is also a pretty solid option too! Service was friendly, our server was super attentive and kind. At this location, there isn't a ton of seating available and the restaurant is just a bit tight in general.

Lorraine G.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and always order the same thing--the chicken katsu curry. The place is always busy, but I've never had to wait long for a table. Service is quick, from ordering to food being served, and there's a call button at every table if you need assistance. While the menu isn't extensive, that's a good thing because their main focus is on curry, and they do it well. The corn potage soup is also delicious. They offer different levels of spice to add to your dish, so you can customize the heat to your liking. This is definitely my go-to curry spot.

Cat N.

Yelp
When I first found out we were having this for dinner, I wasn't thrilled. I felt like the menu was limited and that there wasn't much of a selection. I was sure that I was not going to like it. Boy was I wrong! The Japanese specialty of omu-rice and curry was divine! We ended up watching YouTube videos of how it is made in Japan and that it is very difficult to master. The egg omelette over the rice is so delicate and delicious. The curry was perfect on it. We got other things as well such as veggies, rice and lettuce, pork and chicken katsu, and some chicken kirage which no one really liked. We all liked the corn soup that came with it. They had little sides of croutons which we weren't sure what to do with them. Maybe put it in the soup? That is a mystery. However, It is all about the omu-rice and if you haven't had it, you are in for a treat. Check this place out! We did take out and everything was wrapped well and was delicious.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Went here on a weeknight. It was pretty busy, but there was no wait for party of 3. The staff are really friendly. I got the Chicken Katsu Curry. It was a decent portion size. The chicken cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and laid on a bed of perfectly cooked rice and raw, shredded cabbage. The curry sauce is also super flavorful. There are various chili powders on the table that you can add to your curry if you want to spice it up.

Sharon W.

Yelp
We arrived on a Saturday night around 7:30 and even though the place was packed with people at every table and people coming in to pick up take out, we were seated within 5 minutes. We ordered their corn potage (a light corn soup) to try, delicious. Hubby ordered chicken katsu. I ordered chicken karaage with curry sauce on the side, which was perfect for me. The chicken karaage was crispy, steamy hot, and juicy. The crowd is lively, so the restaurant is a little bit loud but we can still converse. The servers are also nice and super fast about seating people and refilling water. Overall, very good. We will be back.

Yelp
I was a little nervous walking into Curry Hyuga, simply from its appearance (it's a small, low-key space with a modest interior). However, I was very impressed by the food. The corn potage soup that I saw being posted all over this Yelp page is delicious. Great for corn lovers like me. And their signature curry is rich and flavorful. Pairs really well with their crispy tonkatsu, as well as the potato salad and pickled veggies that come with it.

Yelp
Every time I come here the food is delicious!!! I always get the traditional pork katsu curry and it never disappoints. I also wanted to try the curry udon so my friend got that and it was really tasty, but I still prefer the richer flavor of the traditional. We were seated immediately, though the last few times I've come there was a short wait. Service is always very fast and they have call buttons to flag a staff member to order/get assistance. This is always one of my food requests when I visit this part of the bay, and I'll definitely be returning on my next trip :)

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came on around 2pm on a Sunday. Even thought it was way past lunch time, there were still people coming into the restaurant. Our servers were friendly and explained how the call button worked on each table, it was nice to have but I'm not sure if it works because we pressed the button for more water but eventually just ended up flagging down a server. We got the chicken karaage as an appetizer which was juicy with a light batter. My boyfriend got the signature with the pork cutlet loin, which was so tender. I got the Kakuni curry which was so tender as well. The curry for both dishes was flavorful and hearty. The restaurant is small but had plenty of two tops and four tops.

Yelp
One of my friends recommended Curry Hyuga for dinner after game of golf on the weekend. It was my first time here and it was definitely worth a trip. We were lucky to get seating pretty quickly and our server for our table quickly served us. We each got a Signature Katsu Curry and split the Corn Potage. For me, I added a lot of spice to my side, especially the higher levels, and afterwards was positively full and nearly steaming from the spice. The katsu itself was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and mixing it with the Japanese currency made for an absolutely happy meal. The corn potage was delicious, and I think is worth always getting everyone one eats here. After eating here, Curry Hyuga is definitely on my recommendations list for curry in the Bay Area!

Yelp
Ambiance: super casual sit down spot Service: nice and attentive Food: worth the price Corn Soup ($5) - it's sweet, flavorful, light, but so comforting and warms your tummy. If you love corn, get this!! Signature Curry ($16) - comes with shredded cabbage, potato salad, and fukujin pickles I loved how the katsu was perfectly crispy, but I did find the pork one to be dry and kinda tough. The chicken was juicier and tender! They offer 5 level of spices and you can just sprinkle them on your curry! If you can eat the buldak ramen, you can handle their level 5 spice Solid Japanese curry spot!

Yelp
The food is really good. I was looking for a place that served omurice and they do! It was what I was looking for to get that craving fix. Service is fairly fast too!

Yelp
The curry is always good and the place was bustling for dinner on a Friday. Maybe it was due to the business(?) but the server just threw the menu on the table for us which I did not really appreciate. I've been to other Curry Hyuga locations, so the taste is the same!!

Yelp
Solid curry but not exceptional. The pork was a bit gristly and not a good cut, the chicken was better quality. Both pieces a little small for the price. It hit the spot for curry katsu, but not somewhere on my radar to return to.
