Cuties - Review - Old Port - Portland, ME - The Infatuation

"If you name your establishment Cuties, you’ve set some expectations. This all-day spot does, indeed, deliver on the promise of cute. There’s curvy, comfy seating, tavern-style stained glass lighting, and playful dishes like the Oaxaca-yaki, a twist on the Japanese taiyaki that takes the form of a bready fish-shaped pastry filled with stretchy Oaxaca cheese. And it really is a place you can hang out all day. Start the morning with an espresso and a griddled breakfast sandwich between two pancake-like buns, hang at the bar for a salad with green poblano dressing, and then get a group together to sit on the large couches and order a round of “mini-caddies,” a shot-sized frozen margarita with a house-infused boozy top." - Alana Dao

Delicious cocktails and small plates. We really enjoyed the oaxaca-yaki & tuna tostada. Staff was very friendly as well :) the frozen margarita is especially good!!

One of the coolest bars we’ve ever been to. Absolute amazing cocktail recipes (even the NA ones). All fresh juices and unique adaptations of classic cocktails. They even have an espresso machine. Super cool “living room” daytime vibe that will turn into a funky bar when the sun goes down. Anytime I’m in Portland, this will be on the list.

Great drinks, cool place! We were on the hunt for a frozen marg on a hot afternoon and stumbled across Cuties. Cool vibes, great selection of drinks. Perfect for a break from shopping.

Cuties is a bright, playful, and a fun stop for pre-gaming or post-dinner drinks in Portland. The atmosphere is upbeat and inviting, with counter seating perfect for people-watching or cozy couches for small groups. They offer a nice variety of mixed drinks, draft options, and wine. We didn’t try the snacks this time, but we’ll definitely be back to explore the menu more. It's a great vibe and a stylish spot to kick off or wind down your night.

Super “cute” spot :-) Great vibe and location for an afternoon cocktail and snack. Night vibe unique and fun. Had a clarified Paloma. Wow what great cocktail. One of the best cocktails in Portland.

Fantastic establishment! Went here midday for some drinks and appetizers. The cocktails were truly impressive. The bartender (short haired female) really knows what she is doing. Made a couple of classic cocktails (one off-menu) with great skill. Other staff were engaging and welcoming without being overbearing. Very cool vibe inside in the establishment. Also, the crispy potatoes appetizer was one of the best we had all week. One of the few awesome bars open during the day (before 4pm).

Vibes were immaculate! The music set the tone! The decor and even menus had a unique artistic influence! The wine was great and so were the employees! Would not skip for your night or day out!

Google
Very cool vibes at this new spot from the owners of Room for Improvement! Really good ambience in a relax setting. I like the drinks better at Room for Improvement but still great cocktails! Staff is great and was super understanding about something we did not like last time and took it off the bill. We thought that was a really nice gesture and tipped extra! Overall a really cool place with good food and drinks to check out and we would definitely come back!

Yelp
Cuties was wonderful! The staff were all wonderful and kind and their service was incredibly fast. I've popped in for both coffee and drinks and was impressed each time. I've tried their coco old fashioned, pornstar Martinez and the cuties lager. Can't wait to go again!

Yelp
An all-day bar complete with a stellar, colorful, funky ambience, friendly staff, and a small yet mighty menu full of twists on classic dishes, and inventive cocktails. We ordered (and loved): The Bloody Mary (strong, spicy, with vodka, olive and lime wedge included) The Tuna Tostada (ahi tuna slices, black lime mayo, pistachio, tortilla and salsa (?)) - SO. GOOD. Butterbean Dip (vegan: olives, fresno peppers, sherry vin, herbs, served with buttery crackers). My least favorite of our dishes, but still delish. A great add to Old Port and Market Street!

Yelp
This is the trendiest new craft cocktail spot in Portland. I think the tourists and the Influencer crowd will love it; as a local... I'm not rushing to come back here soon. I got to check it out, it was cool, but it wasn't so revolutionary or so special that I absolutely NEED to bring everyone I know here. At least not now. I'd be interested in revisiting in winter when they've been open for a while and it's quieter in the city. Love the space; the decor is very modern and the vibe is very welcoming. There are lots of interesting seating options: stool seating all along the floor to ceiling windows for people watching, some stool seating at the bar, some couch seating in the corners of the room, some workspace-style stand-up seating for you to WFH from, and more. It feels set-up so you're almost forced to interact with the people around you; not necessarily a bad thing, but when it's busy, expect to make friends. Two drinks, two snacks, after tax and tip it was close to $75. We got the All Day Spritz (aperol, strawberry, cucumber, "double friggin' bubbles") and the Our Best Bloody (vodka or tequila, the usual suspects). Loved the excess of cucumber slices in my spritz (that felt cheeky), but the drink itself was mostly ice. My friend's bloody was VERY strong, I don't think she even finished it. She liked her Tuna Tostada; the Butterbean Dip (which is vegan! A pot of creamed butterbeans and a side of homemade [?] saltines) was good, but the toppings (the castelvetrano olive and fresno peppers) did all the heavy lifting. The dishes were taken away from us before we were finished them without being asked if we were done; that felt a little weird to me (and, no, they weren't busy when we came). The bartender was the highlight of the experience. So friendly, so engaging, so quick-witted, so real. They double-checked ingredients for us; they made suggestions and told us why those were their suggestions. Cheers to the staff!

Yelp
nice staff ! cute spot. looks like a knock off of middle child clubhouse in philadelphia. the music was very loud, making people louder even though the space is spread out and spacious. all the drinks were a hit ! not too pricey.

Yelp
Came here for an after dinner drink with a friend. It was a great spacious space. My friend talks about this place alot so when we saw that it was open he said we had to go. This place also has coffee so its not just a bar but its open from morning to night. I was not particularly blown away by the drink menu so I opted to try a NA beer. It was good but I was full from dinner. I would try and see what their coffee is like though next time I am in town.

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday night around 7 and it was packed--but we were able to get the two couch seats for our group of five. I got the Red Wine Supernova, it was sweet, smooth, and perfect. Service was fast and friendly, and our drinks and apps came out quick. Everyone loved what they ordered. If you like spice, the Cajun shrimp is a must! Personally for me the place was a little loud and hard to hear when chatting. Overall will return!

Yelp
Sister bar to room for improvement. Same formula, drinks and a bit of bar food. Service fast and on point Better come at 5 pm sharp because I came at 5.30 pm and the place jam packet (ex petite Jacqueline place). I ordered boat doctor and danger margarita. The boat doctor's ginger slightly a bit over, can't taste some of the ingredient. But ginger is always like that, a little come a long way. Good place to hang out with friends with good drinks.

Yelp
True to the name, Cuties is a super fun spot to grab a drink and some snacks! We stopped in for a couple of apps before a ferry cruise. I ordered the red wine supernova which was very fruity and delicious! My friend tried the caddy frozen marg which was also so good. We split the shrimp cocktail and the oaxaca yaki. The shrimp were fresh and large, and the oaxaca yaki was really yummy! Basically mozzarella stuffed in a sweet, almost pancake like batter served as a cute lil fish. Our bartender was attentive and helpful! They also have great windows for people watching in Old Port.

Yelp
Already the new "It" bar in Portland just days after opening, Cuties lives up to the hype. It's quite literally the light to sister bar's Room For Improvement's darkness. The space is mostly bar (with 16 seats), and nearly as many counter stools, providing possibly the best people watching in the city through the floor to ceiling windows. Vintage, bright yellow furniture for larger parties encompasses the rear of the bar. The full house (half hour after opening) was all ages, but heavily leans towards the trendy crowd. Sigh, it stinks getting old! The cocktails are all creative spins on classics, similar to Room for Improvement, but lean sweeter. I slightly prefer the drinks at Room and hope they add some less sweet options in the "Boozy" section of the menu, but these are some of the best downtown. The espresso martini ($15, or $7 mini) might be better than the famous rendition at Room, and the mini frozen margarita ($5) is a must-order. Those fish-shaped creations you're seeing all over Instagram? It's the Oaxaca-Yaki ($10), basically slightly spicy mozzarella sticks, and it's fantastic. The Coconut Shrimp Toast ($12) might somehow be better, even if you don't love shrimp. Only the Popcorn Shrimp ($12) was too salty and I wouldn't order again. Cuties is going to be a massive hit in the Old Port, especially when they're open all day. It's a much brighter, airy, and (I think) better atmosphere than Room For Improvement, which is really saying something. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Cool new bar with a trendy vibe! I love the large windows with the couches underneath. You can people watch. Large bar. We stopped in a Thursday and it was quite busy. We got a seat at the bar, the drinks were good. We didn't have any food, but it's a small menu. It is really loud in there so hard to hear when you are talking to people. Other than that great new bar.

Yelp
I was excited to try this new place in Portland! We did go during the day so that may have influenced the experience. All the cocktails we had for the AM menu weren't good. The bar is very cute inside but was a waste. Maybe the PM would have been better but we were disappointed

Yelp
I wanted to like this place, I really did, and you know what, I LOVED it. If you don't like cuties then you probably also don't like fun or puppies or rainbows. The drinks are the best in the city, fun and creative but still super approachable, the food is delicious, the service is friendly, and the vibes are 100% all day long. If you want to avoid the insane downtown tourist traps and have a great experience, you want Cuties!

Yelp
Nice staff, good drinks, cool vibe. Great set up for people watching. The only negative is you might as well wait until November to hit this place, cuz it's trendy AF and will be crawling with tourists. . The vibe isn't pushed towards the locals, but these days, what is?

Waverly W.

Yelp
Absolutely love this bar. The space is fun, drinks are delicious, along with the food, and most importantly the staff is so friendly and great at what they do. Every time I have been, even when it's packed, the bartenders and servers are on top of it and really make you feel taken care of. A lot of locals, myself included, have been craving a spot like this because there's really nothing else like it in Portland and we couldn't be happier Cutie's delivered.

Yelp
The vibe is *chef's kiss* (I could easily stay here all day). Bartenders know their stuff (easy on the eyes too). Could not have asked for better bar snacks. 10/10 would recommend.
