This is the trendiest new craft cocktail spot in Portland. I think the tourists and the Influencer crowd will love it; as a local... I'm not rushing to come back here soon. I got to check it out, it was cool, but it wasn't so revolutionary or so special that I absolutely NEED to bring everyone I know here. At least not now. I'd be interested in revisiting in winter when they've been open for a while and it's quieter in the city.
Love the space; the decor is very modern and the vibe is very welcoming. There are lots of interesting seating options: stool seating all along the floor to ceiling windows for people watching, some stool seating at the bar, some couch seating in the corners of the room, some workspace-style stand-up seating for you to WFH from, and more. It feels set-up so you're almost forced to interact with the people around you; not necessarily a bad thing, but when it's busy, expect to make friends.
Two drinks, two snacks, after tax and tip it was close to $75.
We got the All Day Spritz (aperol, strawberry, cucumber, "double friggin' bubbles") and the Our Best Bloody (vodka or tequila, the usual suspects). Loved the excess of cucumber slices in my spritz (that felt cheeky), but the drink itself was mostly ice. My friend's bloody was VERY strong, I don't think she even finished it. She liked her Tuna Tostada; the Butterbean Dip (which is vegan! A pot of creamed butterbeans and a side of homemade [?] saltines) was good, but the toppings (the castelvetrano olive and fresno peppers) did all the heavy lifting. The dishes were taken away from us before we were finished them without being asked if we were done; that felt a little weird to me (and, no, they weren't busy when we came).
The bartender was the highlight of the experience. So friendly, so engaging, so quick-witted, so real. They double-checked ingredients for us; they made suggestions and told us why those were their suggestions. Cheers to the staff!
