C.W. and Chris Fish & Chicken

Was looking for fish market that was open on Sunday. I noticed 2 of my fish market spots was closed and should've stuck with my first mind. I decided to try a new spot eh. I'm not impressed first that didn't do catfish nuggets. I ordered a lunch special $12.50, the 4 piece catfish is honestly 1 strip of into 4 with a large tray of strangely tasting fries. I'm not sure if the fries were fried in old oil or if the fries were old but they tasted strange. The catfish strips were extremely small the size of my index finger. On the brighter side, fish was seasoned and was quickly served within a timely manner. Eh to each it's own just not a spot for me.

I appreciated how clean and well priced everything was. This will probably be our main fried chicken joint going forward.

We're still fairly new to the area and heard Tammy Mac mention this place on the radio. Great food. The young man at the window was so patient and kind despite all the requests that all the "auntees" were making lol... He never got unkind or rolled his eyes or anything. He was impressive. My husband and I both noticed. The food was AMAZING!! THE HUSHPUPPIES WERE OUTTA THIS WORLD! So was the catfish and shrimp. The chicken was tender and crispy.... I would have preferred a teeny bit more salt and maybe a little spice.... but it was still good. But those hushpuppies though. Lol

Just recently my son ordered a ten piece drumette with fries regular fried, it was horrible. We have been going here for some years now and for the past few times the food has not been like years ago. The first few were fresh and hot, the rest tasted old and were not as hot as the first three on top. The fries were cold and the taste was horrible. I use to order from here at least twice a week but now, I’m not even wanting to risk paying as the prices have went up, not to have good food like before. Please go back to great food!!!!!

I absolutely love their fried chicken, shrimp, and catfish!! I don’t go anywhere else when I’m in LA. Don’t hesitate. Get you a plate today!

This was the most DISGUSTING chicken I have ever tasted in my entire life. I'm thinking "oh this finna be hella good" and was excited to try the food. HELL NAH, the chicken was over cooked, NO SEASONING ON THE BREADING OR CHICKEN, and it had a foul taste LIKE IT WAS OLD or something. I was actually pissed off so bad, I only ate the fries which weren't good either but I had to at least eat something. By the time I finished the fries I tasted another weird foul taste again and spit it out and just threw it all away. There was literally no flavor to any of the food. It was like eating oil. CW & Chris I need yall to PLEASE fix how yall are cooking yall food cause this is just outta pocket af to be serving ppl this stuff.

Haven't had fish this good in years. The taste and the atmosphere gave me a nostalgic feel from Oakland back in the days. Amazing fish both catfish and red snapper. The potato salad is so good as well. The fries are thick cut and fresh. They were helpful and friendly over the phone and in person. Website said sold out, but was able to call in and order everything I wanted. They prepare the food quickly, I was able to get food in under 30 minutes which is sometimes what I've experienced at other fish spots. This place will definitely be our go to fish spot from now on.

When I miss ATL I come here. Closest fish & chicken combo to how we do it back home. 2 👍🏾's way up.

Always fresh and hot been going there for years every party we have we make sure we order from them never had a problem I recommend them to anyone that love some good old chicken

It's been yeas since I've ordered from CW but I've had there wings since my brother loves to get there party wings when we have a function. There's street parking. When you walk in someone will take your order at the window. I ordered the fried whiting and regular wings. The food is cooked to order so there was a 15 minute wait. The inside is pretty large but the space is not used for dining, there's some bar chairs and a shelf, I guess people sit there and eat but it might be for people waiting for their order.

The quality went down a bit. I ordered a whiting plate and the fish was really dry. Most Of it I had to toss the fried we're also overcooked. Definitely a waste. Not like back in the day.

Visited a friend in LA and we went here to pick up chicken wings for a party. I liked the wings in BBQ Sauce best, followed by the spicy/dry rub wings. I would want to try the fried fish (whiting, catfish and a few other options) as well as the Red Velvet cake during my next trip to LA. The only downside is we called in the order in advance, and when we got there, they told us a 20 minute wait.

This place has changed!!! Over cooked chicken either too chewy or too hard, Employees are respectful.

Honestly, I never knew the jewel was in this hole of a wall. A friend introduced the location to me. The location is very humble but the service and taste of their fish makes them a big deal. It's not so much the type of location you can done inside but more of a pick up and go type. The prices are quite reasonable and the food is awesome. Ill definitely be back to pick up a dinner plate

Chicken was cook to long no flavor and the potatoes salad was know good.The rolls were hard to. The food is usually good but know this time.rating is 2 star.

Came here real quick because I was in the mood for some fried fish and they did not disappoint. I met Chris, I'm assuming the owner, a very nice friendly man. He has my business for sure now. Food was fire.

I had been hearing about this establishment for y years but had never checked it out for myself. I had only heard positive reviews and my co-workers come here often so I was extra give it a try. It's kind of small, not really a place for sit down dinning. We placed our order over the phone and headed over to pick it up. It only took us about 10 minutes to get there and we placed eight orders so we were not surprised that it was not ready when we arrived. Two of the orders due the chicken and the other six were for fish. It did take quite a while to get our food but we waited patiently. When the food was ready the chef was examine and apologized for the long wait. Like I said, we did have alot of orders. When we got back to work and ate everyone (except for me) really really enjoyed their meals. Most people ordered fish while two of us had fried chicken. Although my chicken was seasoned very well it had been cooked way too hard. I got through one piece and just picked at the other two wings. Will I go back yes, but I think I'll have the chicken instead.

Saw this from an Eater video. They got me the first time around with a torta. Had to check if they struck gold again. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking and neighborhood parking. It Seating: Inside counter-style seating for about 5 people. Feels: Welcome to Inglewood. For those not familiar, it's a grit and grind type of town so not the flashiest or cleanest unless you're in SoFi Stadium. The spot itself is pretty simple. Just a logo, a glass wall, and a menu. If you want to eat there, it's good for singles or pairs but mainly a good grab-and-go. FOOD: Dinner Catfish, Shrimp & Chicken Combo + 2 sides (Recommend) Crunchy savory with a little kick. I was surprised by the various selections of fish they had. I got the catfish was well breaded, fresh, and juicy. Shrimp was breaded and fried and the chicken had a good crunch to it. My choice of sides was the mac salad and the potato salad. The mac salad is mac salad (not mac and cheese) I like the mild sweet/cole slaw flavor to it and the mustard kick to it. The potato salad was a cool comforting bite. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Solid. Hard workers that's straight to business TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. It's tough to compete for best chicken, especially in Los Angeles but this holds it down. Great selections and delicious food at a solid price. I was impressed with the fish choices. A staple in the community and always a good place to grab some fish or chicken and their potatoes salad is the best (homemade) not store bought!! And that's a great treat for me..

I have been patronizing C & W over 20 years I live in carson, and I drive to 62nd St. In LA to get my fish at least 4 times a month. Excellent service excellent fresh fish. Chris and his staff, Erica, Christina & Eric are all friendly , very professional. I have recommend them over & over to all my friends, my sorority sisters of Delta Sigma Theta & The West Coast Gents for their annual fish fry. Sincerely Cj Gray

I honestly have never tried the fish here but the chicken is really good. I definitely recommend the chicken and I will try the fish one day but for now it's the chicken for me.

This chicken had so many FEATHERS on it I'm so so disappointed like it took almost 35min for the food and it's burnt and got feathers all over it. When you see your chicken like this it makes you think that they didn't take their time to clean the food and that's not ok. Try to support but you gotta do better.

CW & Chris Fish and Chicken in South LA is a culinary gem! Our journey from the San Gabriel Valley was totally worth it for the incredible seafood and chicken flavors. The best fish in town. Always hot and fresh and their prices are a little less than other fish places. I really like their catfish, however the chicken wings are good too. I also get the fried oysters, which are flavorful.

This is a cash only restaurant CW is currently in the running for the best chicken wings in LA. We don't have many hot wing spots, but CW is definitely on the list a few. They have normal size wings not the extra big ones like a lot of places. They are fried well in season to perfection. My favorite is lemon, pepper. I haven't had their fish yet, but that is next on my list!

The wings was so small hairy and rank the teenager taken the order was so rude the chicken tasted spoiled

This was my first experience and it definitely met my expectations. I called in a phone order, which was quick and easy. I ordered 10 Drummettes and a Large Fry, both well done. As I entered, the waiting area was clean. My order was ready upon arrival. The chicken was fresh and well seasoned. I love the small size of the drummettes. I definitely recommend and will return.

My favorite place to order party trays! Highly recommend both the chicken and fish. Easy to order online and ready at pick up time.

The fish here used to be really good, the last few times I've gone there the grease has been owed and the fish has not been fresh.

Left a meeting around here and wanted to eat now instead of my packed lunch at the office. This place was less than 1 mile so I decided to give it a try. This is classic fried chicken so don't compare it to the Nashville stuff. Took 20 mins from order cuz they fry it fresh. The batter is minimal which I prefer and the spices are barely there but good enough to make me consider eating the skin of the breast. Hush puppies are good hot and have a little kick in them. Desserts from a home kitchen and sweet potato pie from 27th street bakery- cool. Don't let the exterior fool u. Bring cash.

The wings are small but they are packed with flavor their fried chicken taste like it comes from the south . It's a small location but the service is wonderful they actually talk to you like they know you personally and make you feel right at home I haven't been in about 5 years due to location but once I make it back to that side of town this is the first place I will be eating .

CW and Chris is a past Steve Harvey "Hoodie Award" winner. I have had their catfish and fried chicken several times at parties, as well as ordering for myself. It's very good! The service is prompt. I bought my personal meal to go.

horribly bad business. Good food but Unprofessional business management and services. My order was cancelled less than 24 hours before pickup with no notification. I called to check on a timeframe and was advised that my order would not be available at promised pickup time and of course my money over $100 is in limbo. So no food and my money is tied up. Will never support this business again and highly recommend to anyone else not to. Very sad as you try and support inner city businesses but results are negative.

One of the last great Fish, Seafood , and Chicken establishments still owned by African Americans in the Los Angeles area. So happy to see the upgrades as well as being able to use my Debit card on my most recent visit!!

I'm irritated with my visit today . I ordered 2 dinners over the phone at 2:31 and the lightskin lady over the phone said it'll Be done in 20 min. I arrive at the restaurant at 3:00 to see one of the workers drop my order in the fryer when I get there . Um gf zo

Great wings ! The honey bbq wings are the perfect mix of sweet and tangy with just a little kick to them.

The plain fried chicken is everything they say it is. Season All style batter with a kick. I picked up dinner and didnt eat it until hours later without nuking it and it was still delicious. The sides are just as yummy. I tried the potato salad, coleslaw and hush puppies. The coleslaw seemed to have a hint of ginger which is unusual but somehow works. The hush puppies were bursting with flavor and are a must. It's best to call in your order as the wait time is long. They set the expectation and quoted me 20-25 minutes but it felt more like 30-35 minutes. I'm not complaining because it was clear everything was fresh AF but in the future I'd certainly call it in.

A few days ago my son wanted wings and I said Google the closest black owned business that sell wings I got this place. So we ordered a 20pc wing half bbq and the other lemon pepper hot... When we got there our order still wasn't ready and the place was closing so hardly no body in the building. We got our wings and headed home but only to be disgusted with the lemon pepper hot wings that were extremely salty I immediately called and the guy answera saying we closed I said I realized that but wanted to call in because my wings were too salty. The guy then says keep the order and bring it back tomorrow they will replace it... and that's when I explained to him that I don't have the whole order because we split the bbq wings due to the facts that they were salty it was after 8:30 and we hadnt ate all day and I definitely couldn't come back til later in the week which was toda.... This where the trickery come in and why you can't support certain black businesses... First I get on hold after talking to two different employees then the owner gets on the phone laughing saying they was only replacing the 10 pc lemon pepper hot not the whole order where they do that at we are the customers who spent our money and didn't get the service we paid for what less to do then accommodate your customers when the food was salty so we had to split what was ediblue and who puts batter on lemon pepper wings anyway.... gave us left over wings from fried wings thru the sauce on and thought it was good be careful with the salt don't kill nobody.... I told them keep them wings Imma just make my own.... 30$ for 20 pcs extra salty afa wings never again

I've been coming since I was in middle/high school circa 08/09. Family run business. Hot wings are always amazing. Fries well seasoned. Fried oysters are my dad and I's favorite. I call in my order and pick it up to save a little time. Love that they now take cards/apple pay since it was previously cash only. Nowhere to dine in but I like that I can just pick up and have a short drive back home.

I have always loved this place. I haven't been there in a while. I had a taste for good homemade fried chicken so hey, I headed to CW. What a disappointment. !What happened CE! . My chicken had no seasoning. It was really dry and extremely dark like it was fried in old grease. It kinda taste like it too . I know they usually have great chicken but they were off their game on Sunday. Don't get lazy CW. it needs to be good ALL the time. I'm going to chalk it up to just a bad day. It gets 2 stars for now. I'm going to try again soon and I'll let y'all know the real.

I may have gotten a bad batch but everything was overcooked, and looks nothing like the pictures posted. Honey BBQ Wings: The honey BBQ wings were flavorful but overcooked to the point where no one ate them because they were dry and difficult to take a bite. Stringy and dry were the words my guests used to describe it. We threw away most of it. More to follow on the fried chicken and fish (red snapper).
