da Mirco

"Transport yourself to Italy at this authentic osteria in the heart of the city, where light pours over the tightly packed tables and plants line the walls. Both Irish and imported ingredients feature in the rustic, no-frills dishes, with homemade pastas like spinach and ricotta cannelloni a particular highlight. The service is led by eponymous owner Mirco, who brings a chatty approach to this lively little spot." - Michelin Inspector

The 22 Best Restaurants in Cork, Ireland | Eater

"Arriving in Cork from Italy as a teenager, fresh out of catering college, Mirco Fondrini served a 14-year apprenticeship in the English Market’s Farmgate before finally opening Da Mirco, where his impeccable hospitality does more for the ambience than any decor ever could. Food is as it should be in any osteria: homey, hearty, and complemented by a cracking Italian wine list and some good Irish craft beers. The menu ranges from fish to house-made pastas to bites like the pillow-soft focaccia with speck, olives, and salame Valtellinese from near his Italian home village. For dessert, chocolate salami with cream never fails. [$$]" - Joe McNamee

Google
Best italian in Cork! Always consistently great italian food and wine. Mirco and his Team deliver excellency every time I visit. The menu changes regularly which makes it a great place to visit often. So if you‘re looking for great italian food for a good price and amazing wine pairings - Da Mirco Osteria is the place to be!

We were in Italy for 5 weeks this spring and had very very good food. But nothing compared to the taste of the food here! I was Shocked how tasty it was. Even the said we had was over the top. It’s a very small place so get Reservations! There isn’t an a la carte menu here. So understand that. You will not be disappointed with the food. The only thing I missed was the main pasta dish didn’t come with bread to sop up the delicious sauce! But bread did come with the salad and it was something special.

Loved Da Mirco, went for a special occasion and it was the perfect spot! It was €39 p.p. for our starter and main, I got grilled squid to start, and couldn't resist trying the lasagne for my main course - both were outstanding! Great ambience and very attentive staff, looking forward to a future visit already!

Google
Best TIRAMISU in Ireland! (Didn’t have time to take a picture hahah) As Starter we got the charcuterie board and Halibut salad which was delicious and it is now my favourite salad in cork. I got the pasta w/ zucchini and mint, and it was a great surprise. Success. The other dessert, Pain Perdu, w a sorbet was delicious. Can’t wait to be back. Troppo bono. Grazie.

Finally ate at Da Mirco last night and it most definitely lived up to the hype about this place. The food is the most authentic Italian I have ever eaten outside of Italy and quite possibly better than my favourite spots in Rome. Service is excellent and so friendly and the owner is a great host. The menu is tiny and the wine menu is huge. If you like eating out in Rome, you will absolutely love this place.

Me and my boyfriend booked into Da Mirco for his birthday and couldn’t have had a better experience! We rang ahead to ask about vegan options and they said they would be able to make something vegan if we mentioned it in the notes of our online booking 🌱 The service was amazing, checking in just the right amount. They made me a vegan starter of foccaccia with pickled and roast veg on top - delicious! Vegan main they offered a few pasta dishes or risotto, I went for mint pesto pasta with crispy fried courgette on top. They also have vegan lemon sorbet for dessert. 🤩

Google
Great spot for authentic Italian cuisine. Service is exceptional. We had a couple specials - octopus starter and halibut main - both excellent. Also the lamb pasta was delicious. The real standout for us was the dessert, a flourless chocolate cake with almond and caramel. Has to be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had.

Yelp
I arrived in Cork and came in to Da Mirco around 7 on a Wednesday looking forward to a dinner at a highly rated Italian place near my hotel. There were only a few patrons in the place and at least 5 empty tables but the waitress was in such a hurry you'd think it was their busiest time in history. She spoke at maximum high speed with a thick French accent so I had to keep asking her to repeat. Being vegetarian I settled on a linguini pasta with pesto minus the meat, thinking it would at least have something special about it since it was 22 Euros like all the other courses! It was really the only vegetarian option on the menu that I could figure out , but getting more information out of the waitress seemed like an impossible effort. She should have asked if I wanted wine before the meal but it was the reverse and there were a few red wines by the glass that looked promising. I was trying to take a few seconds to decide, but again it was rush rush rush she kept pointing to wines on the menu and chattering at high speed, so I just gave up and settled for a Malbec. It didn't take long for the pasta to come out and what a disappointment. It was decently cooked linguini but with a weak watery pesto sauce, unflavorful bland and unremarkable in every respect, like an afterthought. I could have done much better at home. For 22 euros it was an insult. This is a small restaurant and the waitress must have flitted by 15 times after I'd finished the wine and was still eating. I was never offered another glass. She finally came over and asked if I wanted anything else and by that time I'd finished the meal and I said no. Apparently this wasn't enough to get a "receipt" and it took another nearly 15 min, sitting there with nothing, to flag her down again to FINALLY pay and get out of there. How this place has a Michelin rating is completely incomprehensible

Yelp
Cozy, unassuming Italian restaurant situated on Bridge street in Cork City. The restaurant is small and seems to always be busy so be sure to book a table. My wife and I had a 7:45 reservation and were greeted by a friendly waitress who showed us to our seat. The wine and food menu were good with many homemade pasta dishes available. We ordered a bottle of Borolo which was amazing. My wife and I chose the duck to start, pasta and roast chicken for mains and shared a Tiramisu. The meal was amazing from start to finish. The duck for me was the star of the show. We look forward to returning. Total cost for 2 was 130 exclusive of tip.

Yelp
Mirco set up a fantastic pickup service. He takes care that the food tastes as good as home as it did in the restaurant. Some of the dishes require minimal preparation at home, instructions are easy and the results have consistently been amazing. I highly recommend the parmigiana, it's the best I have ever tasted in- and outside of Italy. (And no work is required after bringing it home.)

Yelp
Very nice surprise in Cork. If you've had your fill of fish & chips and Guinness stew, then definitely recommend this spot. Menu is small and every option is amazing! Service was very friendly as well.

Yelp
Excellent Italian spot in Cork... somewhat small menu in a good way. What they serve they serve right. 5:30-7:00 3 course menu for €25. The aubergine Parmesan was fantastic as well the house made tagliatelle with ragu bianco. Great spot but be sure to make a reservation. Service was great too!

Yelp
Wow, what an experience! How to begin? For starters, the service is impeccable, and the owner's love for the food and his customers clearly shines through. We ordered our food and a bottle of wine, and based on the food choices, the owner recommended a wine that suited far better (and was less costly!) My husband and I both ordered pasta dishes - mine was the Puttanesca, which can be with or without anchovies, as you choose! I just wish we had room for dessert - choices looked amazingly tempting - a must for next time. Mille grazie, Mirco!

Yelp
A truly unique italian experience. This is not your lasagna, chicken parm type place. This is fresh made pasta with ndjuda (sp ?) and tomato. Go here now.

Yelp
If you have read Shana's review for Da Mirco, I can only add si si, and then some! My wife and I have eaten Italian food all over the world (including many times in Italy), and I can honestly say without exaggeration that this was the most satisfying meal I can ever remember (well, two meals, because after Saturday night at Mirco I had to come back on Wednesday!) Not the most extravagant- the most satisfying. Both the bianca and puttanesca taggliatelle's were the best I've ever eaten, period- every flavor so clean and distinct, perfect portion sizes; I loved Mirco's raviolinni primi dish so much that he brought me a second one, simply because he saw how much I enjoyed it. Mirco is there at every table explaining and educating, pouring the Montepulciano... I already love the southwest of Ireland, but now I have yet another reason to make Cork a destination city. Grazie mille Mirco!
