Daesungjip

"For a soul-satisfying bowl of ox knee soup, look no further than Daesungjip. Its reputation for quality and consistency has seen generations of loyal patrons come for the rich, hearty signature so thick with ox knee cartilage that you can stand a spoon up in it. Take a bite of the slow-cooked cartilage doused in the special soy dipping sauce and all is right in the world. A long queue is the norm here but, thankfully, takeaways are also possible." - Michelin Inspector

Arrived here around 4:55pm on a weekday, there were a few people sitting down so we grabbed a seat. By 5:15 the restaurant was completely full and a line had formed. The beef cartilage stew here is special. We didn’t expect a lot of meat to be in the soup so we ordered an additional platter, but it turned out there was indeed a lot in the soup, and the additional was a bit too much for us. The beef cartilage here is cooked to perfection and the taste is excellent. The price is also very reasonable.

One of my favorite restaurants in Seoul. Come here after hiking at Inwangsan and have some soup and soju. Vibes are great. Often very busy but even waiting in line goes fast. Have been here four times now and it is always just as good as the last time. Always get doganitang. Their fresh kimchi is always delicious.

도가니탕 Doganitang (beef knee joint soft bone or ankle joint soft bone soup), the 60th years old restaurant. I really enjoy the soup they made soft bone very yummy!! It’s melt in your mouth I feel like I eat jelly. Haejang-guk (dried cabbage soybeans soup) was good too. Eat together with fresh kimchi, radishes kinchi and galice gochujang. You can ask for mustard mixed with soya sauce and dep your soft bone into the sauce. There are a lot of Korean people come here. There are only 3 menus here. 1. Dokanitang (beef knee joint soft bone or ankle joint soft bone soup) if you want extra size order Dokanitang tuuk 2. Suu yuk it’s only beef knee joint soft bone or ankle joint soft bone and 3.Haejang-guk dried cabbage soybeans soup The specialness of the soup is one cow can make only 4 portions. This shop uses only the knee joint soft bone or ankle joint soft bones only. Rich in protein, calcium collagen. It is a soup that is easily digested. Suitable for people who are physically weak or those who have recently had surgery. People with osteoporosis also prevent and relieve joint pain.

Delicious food in a busy place with a friendly owner! Try the doganitang and be sure to season it with the provided salt, pepper, and chillies. It's great!

Super crowded at lunch time, but worth the wait. Service is super fast, because the menu is so limited. Dogani (beef cartilage) soup is their specialty. Dip the cartilage in the soy sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste. I like to mix my entire bowl of rice into the soup.

I- a South Asian foreigner traveling Korea- came here based on my friend's suggestion. I had no expectations. The food was exceptionally good and filling. They have a very simple menu which makes things very simple. I went for their main dish- doganitang- which also came with refillable side dishes (rice, kimchi, etc) However, my main reason to write this review is to mention how welcoming the staff was here. The gentleman working here (I never asked his name but he is from Busan) proceeded to ask me about my travels despite speaking broken English and he even tried to use me how to use a chopstick. There was this cute Korean couple customers who then also tried to help me as well. Great staff. Definitely feeling very welcomed to this country as a solo traveler

They have simple menu. Tang (soup) and sooyuk (meat) called "do ga ni". If you like boiling hot beef soup, should try. Taste good. Popular place and filled continuously (at least when I was there) Recommend at least try once while in Korea. Fyi, if you don't like jelly like texture of food, won't like it. (But broth is good)

Cheap and tasty. I especially liked the garlic side dish. Little bit crowded all the time.
