Google
Their food is very nice, and reminded me of the food I ate in Japan, so I come here once in a while with friends and family. Prices are decent, service is good, and their seafood is nice. They have a lunch menu that's great value, and a dinner menu that serves izakaya style dishes. I will keep coming back here for more.

This might be one of the better sushi places we’ve been to. We don’t usually go back to places when we’re traveling, but this one we did. It was that good. A fun and previously unknown appetizer (to us) was the broiled crab stuffed avocado topped with panko. We ordered it both times. The lunch bento box was excellent - the mackerel was perfectly cooked and the sashimi was super fresh. The spicy tuna and spicy salmon sushi were as good as I’ve had. Service was excellent. It was a little cool in there - we kept our light jackets on while eating and noticed others did as well.

This restaurant is exactly what you call a neighborhood hidden gem. Small place huge true authentic menu and reasonable price!! You can tell this is not an Americanized Japanese restaurant with the menu and the service! Not every roll has mayo and deep fried and they even have full grilled squid and ginger pork.

Kevin C

Google
Chirashi don is good with a decent price. Tofu is good too. Squid is ok tho. Can give it a try if you haven't been here.

Google
This place is sort of a hole in the wall, but don't let that fool you. The sushi combinations were on point and the fish was very fresh. It seems that they take care of the customers and have a few unique options that I would like to try on my next visit. The good thing is they don't load up the sushi rolls with rice, it's very balanced with everything that they put in there. The Tomo roll is for the salmon lover, the shrimp puff roll was surprisingly pretty good, their OMG roll and the kiss of fire also would recommend. There were tons of other rolls that they had on the menu that I would like to try. They also have some non-sushi menu items that look very interesting.

Google
We love coming here for sushi. It's in a little strip center in Cedar Park, but they have delicious sushi. The place is kind of small and intimate, so you may have to wait if it's at a busy time. They have great happy hour specials and the kid options are good. Our kids love the tempura chicken and shrimp. We normally love the edamame, but it was a little dry and seemed overcooked. We love their specialty rolls and have tried almost all of them over time. Some favorites are Jennifer, fiesta, rainbow, rock and roll, red eye, spicy tuna and more. The service is great and the place is nice and clean, although it could you a refresh and touch up. Overall, a thumbs up.

Google
We will definitely not come back again!!! They don’t offer authentic Japanese food! The taste of noodle and rice are so…….so wired. Their environment and services are not ideal as well.

Godwin Wong

Google
Best Sushi place available. Quality is consistently high, never a disappointment. The lunch deal offers a special roll with soup and a side. There is no place you can get that for 15 dollars. And here it goes for 13.5 They should increase the price, that's how good a deal the lunch special is.

Stephen S.

Yelp
This is our new favorite sushi spot in cedar park! They have a large variety that includes easy favorites and unique rolls and combinations I have only had here. Every roll we tried was amazing and the prices were reasonable. There are definitely more expensive sushi restaurants in the area that don't have the type of high quality flavor combos they bring to the menu here. The location is quaint but the restaurant has a nice ambiance and fantastic service. We've already gone multiple times in one week!

Lyla A.

Yelp
I don't get the reviews. This place was not good. It was mediocre at best. The rolls were VERY tiny AND under filled. If they had been good, I could have overlooked the size and filling. I promise you H‑E‑B sushi is more substantial. The rice wasn't even sticking to the rolls. Please look at my photos to see the true size and lack of quality. The spicy edamame was the best thing we got. It was spicy as described. For $120, I feel majorly ripped off. Oh and what the receipt showed is way different than what they posted on their website. There was also a 40 min wait to pickup. The long wait actually got us excited because we thought it meant it must be great. NOPE!

Kenny N.

Yelp
Great lunch spot for the weekend. Great service as well, I go here maybe once a month and they remember me. Food is always amazing when we go and decently price which is surprising for Austin/Cedar Park. Small little restaurant so if you have a big party, you might want to call ahead or just know you might have to wait a bit. The owners are from Japan as well and we got to talk about Japan a bit since I able to travel there a few months back.

John C.

Yelp
What a fantastic gem hidden in a random strip mall. The storefront is unassuming but you have to try this spot. The staff is very polite, I ordered takeout that came in 3 bags and they offered to help me bring the food to the car. It's the effort that counts. Now the food: if you order their lunch specials it's an absolute steal. The lunch menu choices is staggering. We got udon, sushi, teriyaki, tempura, and more! Everything came out amazing, nothing would suggest it's of lesser quality. At such high quality with this price, it's pretty much a no brainer. Enjoy your lunch at Daichi!

Scott B.

Yelp
Will definitely not be coming back. There are too many other sushi places in the area that are as good as or better than this. I walked into this place with my family (5 of us total) on Sunday for lunch. The woman at the register just shook her head and waved 'no'. No explanation. No words of any kind. No, "I'm sorry we can't serve you for blah blah reason". All of the tables were full at the time, so I'm left to assume that they were busy. I eat at many places that get busy, so I'm not sure what the big deal is. After checking a other reviews of this place I see that I'm not the only one to have this experience. This is the second time I've been here. I actually got a table the first time. Food and service was neither great nor bad then, just unremarkable.

Michael L.

Yelp
What a gem! While this place is a little far from central Austin, it is worth the drive!! The fish is fresh, the space is simple and clean, and the prices offer better value than you can get in town. Will plan to visit often!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Checked out this little gem, and was pleasantly surprised! My partner and I both chose two options from the lunch menu and everything was on point. Though the portions are on the smaller side, we felt like they were healthier portions than we are used to and felt full and satisfied after the meal. We will definitely be back!

Briana N.

Yelp
First off, the service here is what I really love about Daichi. I ordered the fried shrimp curry rice, but the ended up giving me the chicken katsu one. It wasn't that big of a deal and I know mistakes happen so I was just gonna tell the server to not worry about it. But she beat me to the punch, apologized, and insisted that I would get the shrimp on the side as extra for no charge. I've also read other reviews of how other customers feel as if they're treated like family and they really are so friendly. As for the food, I couldn't get enough. The curry was really yummy and came with a small ginger dressing salad and some fried potatoes. But the katsu is to die for!! Both the chicken and the shrimp were soo hot and crispy without feeling oily at all. And the meat inside was literally still so juicy and tender. I didn't expect to finish my whole dish and had planned to take the extra home, but I ate the whole thing up so quick. I will for sure be coming back to try some other dishes next time!

Kris N.

Yelp
First impressions are everything. Everyone has heard this phrase at one point in their lives, and it remains true to this day. That being said... Our first impression was bad. It was our first visit to this establishment and the waitress was VERY rude. Initially, she told us that the wait would be 45 minutes - an hour. We acknowledged and asked her if we could put our name down on a wait list and she responded, by pushing us outside, and responding with, "We don't have list". Thus, we waited outside, and our actual wait was 15 minutes. After she pushed us out, to save time..We requested a menu, she responded with, "I need these extra menus for the customers we have now" (at the time, everyone was seated had ordered and were eating). That being stated... The items that we ordered were delicious. We started with the Agedashi Tofu, Karaage Chicken, Onigiri, and Orgasm Roll. Then we ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry and Spicy Ahi Donburi. My family and I are from Hawaii. We have AMAZING and AUTHENTIC Japanese cuisine and Daichi is the closest we've tasted to home. But, honestly though, we won't revisit this location because of the service.

Irvin P.

Yelp
Really good authentic Japanese dishes. Lunch bento box and happy lunch specials are really good values.

Anastasia M.

Yelp
As almost every other review says this is a hidden gem. Very small, cute, and welcoming on the inside. The food was wonderful and the service was equal. $6 sake! Can't beat it!

Stephen O.

Yelp
Still great and it's the same owners since 10 yrs ago. They are local favorite. True, it's sushi is smaller but the taste/quality is consistent every time you visit. Size of the sushi is same as Kai Sushi. Price , about the same too.

Lou H.

Yelp
Daichi Sushi is one of the best in Austin and Cedar Park. This restaurant is small just like many sushi restaurants in Tokyo. To my best knowledge, small and tiny sushi restaurants are typical in Japan. The owner Tomo is a Japanese and she really knows how to serve delicious sushi and great Japanese kitchen foods to customers. Many thanks to Tomo, Keita, and Jesús. I have been eating here for many years and I always enjoy the foods here.

Jessica N.

Yelp
Just devoured our spicy gyudon and pork cutlet curry. We found this place on Reddit and it went past our expectations! The service was good, it took us longer to get our food because there was only one person waiting tables, but we'll worth it. Can't wait to come back!

Julie H.

Yelp
I had a craving for sushi and stopped in for a late lunch at Daichi with a friend. It's one of the few places that are open between lunch and dinner hours. The restaurant itself isn't huge but the owners are very friendly. We decided on the hamachi as an appetizer which was very flavorful and delicious. We split 4 special rolls. I don't remember which rolls we ordered but 3 of them were delicious! All very flavorful. The only one I was a bit disappointed about was the one that was deep fried (the one with shrimp tempura). I will admit it was a misunderstanding in my part as the owner said it was fried (I thought she mean the shrimp tempura was fried). My fav one is the one with the pepper on top. It was SPICY and I loved every burning tingly sensation with every bite!

Mariel V.

Yelp
Small local and Japanese owned restaurant. It's very clean inside. They only give u one menu each table which is sort of annoying and inconvenient. Sushi is handled very well, never tastes fishy like other smaller sushi spots in Cedar Park. We really like this hidden gem in CP. I'm so thankful for my friend who showed me this spot last year.

Paula L.

Yelp
Finally, a place where I can get authentic Japanese lunch! This little place is such a great find. Japanese owned and service was fast and friendly. I've only come here for weekday lunches and they have a great selection! You can get 2-item bento boxes ranging from $10-13, sushi/sashimi combos, udon noodle soup, or combo rolls. Portions were generous and quality of the sushi was pretty decent for the price! Will be back to try the dinner selection and specials.

Zaimaris L.

Yelp
Love their sushi & gyoza! Great lil spot, love going with my husband for a date. Definitely recommend checking out.

Anita C.

Yelp
We ordered: Roppongi roll Edamame Chicken teriyaki The roppongi roll was so good. The fish is fresh and good quality. I really liked the edamame too. My bf got the chicken teriyaki and it didn't look right and I could tell he didn't like it. And he always gets teriyaki while I get sushi. I'm only giving this place 4 stars because of the chicken teriyaki. I tried it and I agree with him. However, I would definitely come back for the sushi.

Erik H.

Yelp
The food is decent. But it's really hard to put in a takeout because they have nobody to answer the phone. i tried to order today, and gave up after 19 attempts at reaching them. That's how you lose business.

Louie T.

Yelp
Been looking everywhere here in Austin for good Japanese curry and this place is excellent. In fact every dish we've had here so far has been amazing from the lunch specials, curry, sushi and even the dinner. You definitely get the best value from lunch but the food is good all day long. I have found my go to Japanese / lunch place here in Cedar Park and recommend it here. The locals say that it's a hidden gem and it definitely is. Hope they continue to be successful from all the delicious meals made here!

Izzy A.

Yelp
I've been going to Daichi for almost 8 years now. The owner and her staff are so sweet, the space is welcoming, and the food is consistently delicious. My family usually gets the chicken katsu curry and mixed tempura to share. I've been trying other items on the menu too. Their nigiri sushi, sashimi, and sushi rolls are tasty, much better than I thought for a sushi restaurant in Texas. Tomo - thank you for giving my family a place to indulge in our Japanese food craving!

Jeannette M.

Yelp
I love this place but the pricing in their website is not up to date. I usually order for pickup and really not like calling my order in and being surprised because what I thought it was going to cost doesn't add up and it's more than the website shows. I understand the prices going up, the problem is it hasn't been updated in their website and can't find an accurate dinner menu pricing, even here in yelp. Other than that their food is delish, and we've always had a great experience with them.

Lisa N.

Yelp
Quite a bit of a drive for us but TOTALLY worth it. If you live near, consider yourself lucky. It's a cute little restaurant with exceptional service. Tomo took very good care us and is so hospitable. We started off with the house salad, fried oysters and a few pieces of sushi. The aburi sake (torched salmon w/ ponzu is EXCEPTIONAL and a must order!!! *chefs kiss* Then we got the chicken katsu don, spicy wagyu don and pork curry. Literally all great! Our group unanimously agreed the spicy wagyu don was the most tasty.

Angela B.

Yelp
We found this place when our favorite sushi place temporarily closed because of Covid. This was a very happy find and has now become one of our favorite places to eat at. My son and husband are addicted to this place. The Food: If you are an udon officiando, this place does not disappoint. I have tried many an udon, and I would say this is one of the best in Texas. Their Red Diamond Roll is very amazing, and my husband loves their chilled octopus. The Service: The people who run this ma and pa restaurant are locals, and they treat all their customers like family. When my husband came in after having surgery, the owner made sure that he was comfortable at the table, and took care of him as his own mother would. The sushi chef and waitstaff also are very kind and give top-notch service. Overall: Make this one of your local haunts. The food is amazing, the service is fantastic, and it supports locals.

Zhou Jin D.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a friend. We both got lunch special of choosing 2 items of their lunch menu to make a bento box. The one item that stands out was their chief special sushi. The fish literally melt in your mouth delicious. I also order the okonomiyaki. I didn't find it in the menu but they have it if you ask for it. Its a very traditional okonomiyaki base on my experience traveling to Japan. Overall great food for the price.

Ricardo B.

Yelp
This has become our favorite sushi place over the past year. The owner is super sweet and is always welcoming to us and her customers. The Red Diamond roll, fried oysters and Takowasa are simply amazing. If you get a chance, please drop by because you won't be disappointed.

Brian C.

Yelp
Have I never stopped to tell you about Daichi?! It's a quaint neighborhood spot with the nicest people serving you. So glad they survived the pandemic. The sushi is delicious and they have delicious specials. I like to order an assortment of nigiri and a miso soup. Wash it all down with an Asahi Black Japanese beer.

John P.

Yelp
Exactly what you are looking for when you want great sushi. Always fresh fish, cooked items perfect, never greasy. Service is amazing and pricing lower than you would expect for food of this quality. Been going here since they opened in 2012, never a less than excellent experience. CANT. GO. WRONG!

Dave L.

Yelp
This place is great. The fish is fresh, fast service, friendly, creative rolls, very tasty. Would definitely come back.

Lawrence Y.

Yelp
Authentic and home style Japanese food. Extremely great value and it tastes so damn good. Quality of fish is good. The sushi chef gives good cuts of fish and has good knife skills as well. Looking forward to becoming a regular here.

Natalie M.

Yelp
My dad and I found this place a few years ago when it opened before Covid, and it quickly became our favorite spot to eat at. The servers are super kind, and often remembered exactly what we got (haha) and everything was always super tasty!! They have a wide variety of options, and I find that their miso soup is to die for. It's a little smaller, so you might have to wait if you get there during rush, but it is 100% worth waiting for. We've never had a problem with any of our food, and the service is super fast and great! It's a great price for a fun night out to eat, and I really love it so much. They used to give you a little paper that you marked on with dry erase for sushi orders, but I don't believe they are doing that anymore. Overall, definitely recommend!!! One of the best sushi places in cedar park!!

T F.

Yelp
Love this place, underrated local japanese restaruant! Love the eggplant

Robert P.

Yelp
I already posted a review, this is a brief update. This place still rocks! One of my two favorite Japanese restaurants, and in my top ten all time favorites! I have eaten here countless times. Wonderful service and atmosphere. Fresh food. Just the best! I have added some more pictures as well.

Vivian F.

Yelp
Came here for a simple lunch - didn't have any issues with service like some of the reviews mentioned. Although she wasn't the friendliest (perhaps language barrier), but she was attentive as we were the only table eating at 2pm. Asked if it was possible to sub teriyaki instead of karage and she gave an odd answer/looked at us weird.. Sushi rolls were packed with WAY too much rice. There's also WAY too many options to mix and match lunch specials here - it gets confusing and we spent too long deciding what we actually wanted. Pricing gets weird too as they try to upcharge on the "effort" it takes preparing the food. Had a good experience and there's plenty of choices here - you're bound to find something you like. But I think it may be a one time thing for me.

Natalie C.

Yelp
Always amazing sushi. I eat here once a week and it never disappoints!! The Shrimp Puff roll is the best.

Korey A.

Yelp
I would give this 4.5 stars if that was an option. The food here is pretty solid. They have a generous fill to their rolls. The food is fresh. They only had one waitress, but she was doing a great job. There were only about 4-5 tables filled at that time, and we were one of the first ones. Their happy hour is of course better than their normal prices, but they only take about $1-1.50 off a roll.

Olivia W.

Yelp
This place is literally always closed. I checked if they were open earlier today and they were on Yelp then they weren't later that afternoon! What gives?! I've been trying to come all week basically. It's January 5th...why on earth would you close on today? The hours on their site don't match up. Call before you go. I stopped by and saw a sign they are only open from Thursday to Sunday. Probably due to the pandemic. They should update their hours on their website!

V A.

Yelp
After spending all Saturday night attending my son due to food poisoning. I decided to give Daichi a call as common courtesy that something my son ingested during dinner was expired. To my surprise, the owner was really rude. Disregarded my concerns and was ZERO apologetic. Mind you I wasn't even asking for a refund just common courtesy call. She said it was impossible and my son must have eaten something else before going to dinner. Yeah tell that to a mom who spent all night caring for her son and cleaning Japanese Lasa Roll all over his bedroom. I am so disappointed. We usually love this place and have never had any issues. An apology and professionalism is the least expected in a situation like this, specially when food poisoning can get really bad real quick for a kid. She didn't even asked how my son was doing. Needless to say we will never go back.

Suzie L.

Yelp
My husband and I have pledged to try all the great restaurants in the Austin area. After some research for curry rice, we found ourselves driving thirty minutes out of our way to Daichi Sushi. We were not disappointed. We were the only ones in the place. It is small, modern with some traditionalist touches. We had the seaweed salad to start. So clean, crisp and refreshing. We then had the chicken cutlet curry rice, my husband ordered yellow tail rolls and our little one had the kid's plate. My husband, who was stationed in Okinawa for a few years said that he was taken back to those days. The curry was delicious. Not spicy but very tasty. The sushi was fresh and beautifully rolled. We finished our meal off with mochi ice cream...so. good. We are driving home as I type this and he is already planning our next trip out. This will probably be our go-to for Japanese cuisine.

Allison B.

Yelp
We love this place. They always have such delicious and fresh sushi. Our last visit was no different. Unfortunately the last couple times the service felt rushed. Today, the server kept saying they were very very busy yet their 9 tables only had 5 other guests and no one waiting. I sincerely hope their service will continue to match the food. By the way... the always seem to have fresh wasabi and toro tuna.

Yelp
This place need more good review because more people need to know it!! Probably the best Japanese place in North Austin (well technically it's in Cedar Park). The owners are Japanese which I'd say is rare here. Everything on there menu looks legit and delicious although I have only had sushi because I'm obsessed. All of the nigiris I had are very fresh. The seasoning is always spot on. My favorite roll is the Pinky roll. I always like my salmon torched. Searing the salmon adds such an amazing flavor to it. The scallops in the roll is so sweet and fresh. The slight tartness and umami in the spicy ponzu sauce balance out the richness in salmon so well! The pinky roll has become my must order now.

Amber H.

Yelp
Our favorite date night spot... we have never been to this place and it not just left us thinking, "when are we coming back again?!" We had been to Daichi years ago when we first moved to NW Austin, but hadn't been back in a few years. We were happy to realize that they were still open and planned our regular Sunday night date night to Daichi! We walked in at 6:30 on a Sunday night and were told that Happy Hour ended in 15 minutes, so we quickly ordered 3 different sushi plates (including the Cedar Park roll, which my hubby loved!), and a chicken teriyaki bowl for me (since I'm not too fond of fish). The service was fast, but the food was what stole the show... I highly recommend the chicken teriyaki bowl to anyone who doesn't like fish or sushi... (I know, I know, who goes to a sushi restaurant and orders a rice bowl.... well, this girl does). lol

Logan P.

Yelp
There are a handful of sushi restaurants in the area, but Daichi tops them all. This is my go to sushi spot, I've been too many times to count and have not once had a bad dish. The staff is so friendly, and the atmosphere is nice. Daichi also has a great lunch special. I don't think I'm far off when I say this is the best sushi restaurant in the Cedar Park area!

Adam H.

Yelp
The service was cold and and it was almost empty when happy hour started on Sunday, but we were here for sushi! Happy hour at first glance only had a few food options and mostly drinks, but we were charged happy hour price on the receipt for most rolls, so I'm still confused on that. They also had a large chalk menu at the bar with specials including fresh wasabi and fried oysters I look forward to trying sometime. The HH menu did include agadashi tofu, which was served in a bowl with delicious warm dashi broth and lightly fried large tofu chunks. Their seaweed salad was amazing with two kinds of seaweed, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a sweet and savory ginger citrus dressing that was great. One of the outstanding items we had were the lettuce wraps, which were four large leaves that each held a spicy chopped fish: salmon, yellowtail, scallop, and tuna. The sauce was delicious and a bit spicy with masago and cucumber. The Philly roll was only $5 and was full of smokey salon and cream cheese. The Lexus roll with seared salmon on top we got was my favorite, with a bit of fat and skin seared as well and stuffed with krab and tempura shrimp with a bit of sauce. The shrimp puff roll was interesting having been wrapped with a crispy egg roll wrapper around rice, nori, cream cheese and shrimp with a sweet chili sauce on top. This one was fun and I've never had anything like it before. The spicy "caterpillar" type roll contained a lot of fish compared to rice! It was a great value and really yummy with a lot of eel and yellowtail featuring a spicy eel sauce. Downside is that my wife found a bone in one piece. Cool plates and green tea mug too!

Brandon B.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Great hidden gem. More authentic Japanese style sushi, high quality, all around great spot.

Rama G.

Yelp
Literally Best sushi in town. I've been to all the fancy sushi restaurants and no one can come close to the quality of their sushi. Any roll I order, always tastes good. Highly recommend

Amy J.

Yelp
Once a local best kept secret, Daichi continues to decline in quality and service. We waited with great anticipation the reopening of the Daichi dining room post covid. Four of the five rolls we ordered were mostly rice and seaweed. Historically, Daichi never failed to offer great fish. Tonight, the fish was chincy, at best. Wasabi and ginger had to be requested. An a la carte side of rice was an up-charge for a vegetarian friendly main dish. Not sure what is going on here, but with an abundance of sushi options in the area, sadly, we will not be returning.

Tim V.

Yelp
Man who would have though Cedar park would have a good sushi place!!! I had the lunch combo C and it was pretty good for Cedar Park TX. Fish was fresh portions were fair and the price was also nice. The service was ok and it was a comfortable enough place for a easy work lunch. I would recommend as a good safe bet for sushi

Steve R.

Yelp
We wanted to like the place but the rolls we had were very small and the taste was slightly better than what you could get at H-E-B and I never get those. The rolls were not filled very much and I felt pretty ripped off. Service was slow and I never got a refill. Very mediocre and very overpriced. I wouldn't go back here myself but maybe they have other stuff that is good. I wish I could say something better, I don't like leaving bad reviews but that's my experience and I think it is worth noting. This place had 4.5 stars and I'm not sure how.
