Danny Meyer’s Daily Provisions Cafe Is Opening on the Upper East Side | Eater NY

"Opening this summer at 1381 Madison Avenue and East 96th Street, Danny Meyer’s popular Daily Provisions will occupy the corner space that used to house a long-running Greek diner; it’s a cafe and bakery and will be the sixth location for the small chain that Danny Meyer started “as a happy accident” in 2017. I note it will have to compete with several other coffee purveyors on the block, including Da Capo, Julien Boulangerie, Champignon, Grabstein’s Bagels, Starbucks, and Dunkin’ Donuts." - Luke Fortney

Google
Such a bright, clean, and welcoming café! The space feels warm and cheerful, and the staff were incredibly kind and friendly. The coffee was excellent — smooth, flavorful, and honestly one of the best I’ve had in the neighborhood. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable, whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or sitting for a few minutes to relax. I definitely recommend it and would happily come back.

Google
We stopped over for a coffee and for their house made and my favourite crawler after a walk at Central Park. The crawler was tasty and good as I expected but service is just not there. I asked for water and one of their staff stared at me and literally just pointed where it is. Perhaps I should not have paid the bill yet and the tip. I’ve been to The Daily Provision in Hudson Yards and that location is way and heaps better in terms of service than this place.

Google
I had the Garden Quinoa Crunch Salad with Chicken and it was better than I thought it would be. The decor was nice but the servers were just ok, not very attentive but not a deal breaker.

Google
Very high level of service! The food was good, but the maple cruller is where it’s at! NYT was right about that one!

Google
Great food and very lovely staff. Overall a beautiful experience. Had the lemon poppy crueller, tomato soup and patty melt. The best way to spend New Years Day!

Google
Stopped by this location over Labor Day weekend to treat myself to something sweet. The black and white cruller here is amazing, and the manager really went out of their way to make the experience great.

Google
New cafe recently opened. They have a good selection of different coffees and teas, pastries, and savory sandwiches. Since it's new it gets quite busy especially during breakfast and lunch rush time. There is a good amount of seating both inside and outside. I got the iced matcha tea and it was quite good. Prices for drinks are quite reasonable, sandwiches seem a little too pricy for what you get.

Google
I've been to this place a few times and I really like the coffee. I wasn't too keen on the grilled cheese, but the avocado toast was great. The last time I ordered, I waited almost 20 minutes for my latte, and I had to ask a few times about my order since I saw a couple in front of me getting their food before I did.

Yelp
Really love this cute little place it's like a Cafe you would see in a movie. The staff are so friendly and helpful. I had a bacon, egg & cheese on an everything croissant (the croissant already has cream cheese inside fyi) as well as a cinnamon cruller and a Chai latte. The sandwich was absolutely delicious one of the better I have had and that says a lot bc I'm from NYC and grew up on the world famous corner store BEC. The Cruller was perfectly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with just the right amount of cinnamon dust. The Chai came in a nice sized mug not a tiny tea cup like some places the only downside was that it wasn't sweet. Can't wait to go back highly recommend.

Yelp
I've been to the UES side version of Daily Provisions many times since it first opened. The large bowls of fresh salads, sandwiches, roast chicken, and pastries are excellently prepared. I have absolutely no complaints here. Every meal we had was first-class The main issue with this location is that the owners of this chain completely misjudged its popularity, and almost immediately, diners and computer geeks began to swamp the few tables available, making it very difficult for long-term residents and the elderly to find seats. Early on, I recommended that those working at laptops should be precluded from the large tables; however, Daily Provisions is too small (they should have kept the original space by the former Diner, Three Guys) to accommodate everyone. I believe this will detract others from nearby businesses and the hospital, Mount Sinai, from enjoying a good lunch. On top of this seating problem, Daily Provisions does not offer delivery as of this review, which is another ding in their needs. Waiting often in a long line can be a big turn-off and thus has restricted the number of times we have eaten at their UES location. I hope management is reading this review and will act accordingly, though it will be tough to accommodate a new seating arrangements and further traffic to their eatery!!

Yelp
THE MAPLE CRULLER IS THE TRUTH. Seriously though the maple cruller was absolutely insane that even though we ordered one, when we were walking out we had to get another because it was that perfect. The Bacon egg and cheese sandwich was good. The bacon was really really good and peppery which added a lot of texture to the sandwich. The bread is noticeably nice, but it left me wanting a little more. The wake up sauce is fine but I would stick with the sandwich by itself. The coffee is Joes and it was decent coffee. The interior is like an upscale diner and I really enjoyed all the seating and the blue decor along with the tables outside and a lot of sunlight! All the workers were noticeably friendly! 100% come and try this place out you won't be disappointed and the maple cruller is A MUST!

Yelp
Fine food and coffee. Just be mindful of the inconsistent service and rude. Apparently, they have a rule where you can't be on a device when sitting at a table - understandable so people do not park themselves for hours and hours.... But on a not-so-busy mid morning weekday when the place was only half full, I'm not sure how an iPad for 30 min is any different from someone sitting on their iPhone for an hour and even talking on it! And if a gentleman had been on his phone texting and making phone calls for half an hour - how is that ok vs someone doing a few emails on a small iPad? If that's the expectation and there are 5 servers standing around, then run it like a restaurant! Or, if you're going to run it like a cafe with a policy like this, then you need to post it and not tell someone when they're already settled and actively eating dine-in food.

Yelp
Overall the food here is ok. But today my wife I decided to sit down and eat breakfast. We ordered and sat down. The table was so filthy. Dirty dishes were left and crap was stuck to the table. There was nowhere for us to place the dirty dishes or get a cloth to clean the table. A young woman came by and dope off our food (just the food on the plate. No utensils our napkins). She didn't say anything. Did take the dirty dishes. We were just having egg sandwiches, and I won't even comment on how messy that was.

Yelp
My all time favorite neighborhood cafe! Everything here is delicious! If you're in the mood for comfort foods done well, don't miss this spot. The roast chicken is quite good. The Brussels sprouts hit the spot. The cheesy egg gougere is phenomenal. The patty melt is tasty. The chicken Milanese is done well. All of the crullers are divine! My favorite is the maple. Today I tried the gingerbread cruller which was on the subtle side but was good! I'd get it again! I love the salted fudge brownie. I'm so glad Daily Provisions opened in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Got take out after an appointment at Mt. Sinai and could not stop eating! It may have the best Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich I have ever had (definitely top 5 in NYC for sure)! The crullers are light, eggy, and crispy all at once. Could not believe our luck in finding this place!

Yelp
So happy there's now a location on the UES! Their special black & white cruller for the occasion was amazing but you can't go wrong with maple! My favorite item here is the Lumberjack--a BEC breakfast sandwich with a FRIED egg and thicc bacon in between the maple cruller. Sweet and savory and really hits the spot. If you're not feeling the sweet, you can also get it with their everything croissant (the Lovechild)! It's a spacious location with tables inside and outside and bar seating as well.

Yelp
So glad to see that Daily Provisions has opened on the upper east side. Great location to as it is near a hospital so all those doctors and nurses and therapists and office staff can get their caffeine fix and have yummy food before, after, during their shifts. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a bar seating area along with 4-5 tables inside. They serve coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and Crullers which they are known for. I had the Bacon, egg and cheese in a poppy seed roll and I got a cinnamon cruller and a black and white cruller that some of the proceeds from this one goes towards city meals on wheels. I got a decafe Iced latte with regular milk which tastes fine. Nothing soo awesome but not bad. The Staff was very nice. As it is their opening day today it was a little hectic but nothing crazy. The only downside to this place is that, the garbage is by the door kind of hidden but if there is a line you will have to say excuse me to get to the garbage. Unless there is another garbage somewhere that I missed. If you are in the area I would recommend stoping by here.

Yelp
I have been waiting for a long time for this location to open. There was only one cashier available on a busy Saturday morning (all of the parents of young children have descended upon this location already). They have about four four person tables for outside. Then some decent seating inside. The place can get very crowded since the line goes straight down the middle of the store. There is a bathroom in the back, which is clean and large. I got a raspberry and maple cruller. They were very, very sweet. The raspberry icing did not solidify yet, so it was still gooey but in a yummy way. The maple one had great flavor, but too sweet for me. However, I want to go back and try other items.

Niki P.

Yelp
Poor attention to allergies and orders--have twice ordered decaffeinated coffee here only to come away with caffeinated.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place and so happy I did. I had avocado toast with smoked salmon and it was the creamy deliciousness I've had in a long time. I also ordered a chai, and a passion fruit doughnut. The service was nice and the place was cute.

Yelp
I stopped in before work, I had a problem ordering online and the manager I assume was super attentive. I placed my order in store and it came pretty quick (5 minutes) I ordered the bec and the maple crueler. The crueler was definitely worth the hype although it was smaller than I thought so I don't think it's worth almost $5 (but I will be suckered into paying the $5 bc I can't resist) The bec left something to be desired, the bacon was super flavorful I wish there was more of it, it came with a house sauce and it was good but kinda lack luster. Overall I would come again, I really want to try their lunch options. They have a few seating options and the space is very modern and clean

Yelp
I so want to give them 5 stars because their breakfast food was AMAZING. However, the cashier was pretty rude and their matcha was very clumpy. Back to the good stuff, the BEC on an everything croissant is a game changer! Super flaky and buttery, with some really thick bacon. And the crullers? Stunningggg. Would definitely recommend to eat if you're in the area

Yelp
Daily Provisions is in my neighborhood now. It's brand new and spacious and super busy. Since I was early on a weekday I had no problem getting a window seat with my large drip. I paid $4.08 for the comfort and I'm glad I had three Sweet n Low in my bag. I found some non dairy Coffee Mate in my bag and used it too. My two favorite things that resulted in the Four Stars are the surroundings and the employees. Pauline was wonderful and the young man behind the bar answered my questions and gave me some additional information about their future plans. He said they plan to add more alcohol and have food for later in the day. If customers want an after work gathering place this may be a good option. If you walked by here on the weekend like I did you can see it's already very busy and they have only been open a couple weeks. If Daily Provisions meets your standards for a food and drink experience then by all means enjoy this new location. I think I'll stick with my local cafe not a chain.

Yelp
Finally a daily provisions on the UES! Get the everything croissant!! Breakfast all day. They have some bar seating and 4 tables. Will definitely stop by here all the time.

Yelp
My friend recommended the cronut here, so was excited to try it out. I downloaded the app and got one cronut for free! I was surprised by the quality of the pastry. It was flaky on the outside, but buttery on the inside.

Yelp
Very solid Daily Provisions across the street from Mount Sinai. The food is quite solid and I highly recommend the chicken Milanese salad or the roast chicken. They also brew Joe's so a good option for a caffeine fix as well.

S. K.

Yelp
Love the cruller donuts...they are calorie worthy. That being said the sandwiches are also very good. The sides are the only items on the menu that are not worth ordering. Service is decent and the ambiance is lively.

Yelp
Truly excellent coffee here. The line looks intimidating, but it moves quite quickly (we were in and out in 15 minutes). I see why this place is hyped up, the coffee is really excellent, I'll surely be back!

Yelp
Big fan of daily provisions especially this location. Can get crowded but staff are friendly and efficient. Will return!

JoAnn B.

Yelp
So happy with this location. Daily Provisions was spot on with this delicious food and comfortable outside seating I went there with my brother who is disabled and how lucky we were to get "Cali" as our server. She really cared and went out of her way to make our experience there 100x's better than I could have ever asked for. Thanks....

Suzanne M.

Yelp
Great, friendly & helpful service. Good coffee & food. Nice location off of Madison Ave. with outdoor seating.

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
Worst place. They sent me the wrong order. I have had to call multiple times and didn't get anything resolved. This establishment does not have it together. The staff had an attitude on the phone and don't seem to know how to handle situations.

Amy S.

Yelp
The crullers are AMAZING, especially the maple ones! We went 3 times while in NYC. The salted caramel lattes were delicious as well. Convenient location close to Mt. Sinai.

Yelp
ALI was the BEST WORKER EVER! he was so kind and sweet and personable and very professional.
