The 38 Best Restaurants in Florence, Italy - Eater

"Trattorias in Florence are usually lionized shells of some original decades-old greatness. Not Dalla Lola, co-owned by Matilde Pettini (daughter of iconic Cammillo owner Chiara Masiero) and tucked behind the Piazza Santo Spirito. The trattoria caters to locals with an edgy approach to nostalgic Tuscan dishes, utilizing nearly forgotten ingredients, such as obscure pasta shapes, alongside vegan and vegetarian options; think peak-season strawberry gazpacho with Pugliese burrata and fried Tuscan panzanella bread bits, Tuscan classics like tagliolini in sugo finto (ragu of minced vegetables in loads of tomato), and comforting fried braciole and roasted potatoes." - Coral Sisk

If you see my previous previews and how much I value good & local food, there is not much to say. Go to Dalla Lola. She and her team made my day. I should have not let her encourage me to get the cheese cake, it was truly impeccable yet i skipped the dinner after having tasted 4 dishes :))))

easy, informal spot with a lot of non-traditional options (dropped in for lunch on a weekday). the owner (i think she is the owner?) was very helpful, attentive and warm. kind of a place where there is an immediate level of sincerity and connection either customers. one would be a regular as a resident. anchovy pasta was great and I had a heavenly lemon cake that was off menu and available for the day.

Love love love Lola! What a wonderful meal and team! The flavors burst in your mouth from each dish. The wine was perfect and sulfite free. The cheesecake was like eating sweet clouds 🤍 Thank you for a magical dining experience.

We loved this restaurant! We saw the episode of Stanley Tucci’s show where he visited it and couldn’t wait to try it ourselves. The food was excellent, specially the miso gnocchi with onions, light and flavourful. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was great.

Came here for a solo lunch and it quickly became the highly of my Italy visit so far, so warm and welcoming service and the tastiest Italian food I’ve had so far! The fried vegetable fritters were a standout, such unique flavors! The owner was also so kind ti write me a list of wineries to visit on the next leg of our Tuscan holiday in Siena.

Without a doubt one of the best meals I had in Florence. While there are numerous places to try traditional Tuscan fare like the bisteccas, Dalla Lola's take is a rare delight in a city eager to please a constant deluge of tourists. The humble Gnocchi here is served with beetroot carpaccio and a miso sauce, a trio you're unlikely to spot in a place together. The fried pork chop was juicy and succulent; the breading seasoned just right to tantalize the tastebuds by itself, and also acted as a willing sponge for the tomato sauce. Finished the meal with their coffee cake with mascarpone and it was scrumptious too. Dalla Lola's ambience is excellent too. It is tucked away in the delightful Santo Spirito neighbourhood, away from the chaos of the city center, a chilled out, relaxed atmosphere made all the more amazing by a genial and attentive staff. The owners seem like genuinely wonderful people, and the food they're dishing out pays reverence to tradition, while also daring to be different. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a lovely eating experience. Please do note that reservations help MASSIVELY, because they're only open for a couple of hours in the morning/afternoon and the evening.

This place is another proof not to trust Google Maps ratings. The portion size is beyond ridiculous, I've had bigger Tapas portions in Spain. The quality was mediocre at best, it was definately lacking in taste. When you consider the price, it's just a 100% rip off. Also, the food took long time to prepare. Avoid this place at all cost, there are much better alternatives in the area.

Great food, great staff! The menu is so interesting and if you craving from Italy more than pizza and pasta you should visit here. I tried gnocchi miso and beet root pesto and it was great, refreshing, reset your taste!

Yelp
If you're looking for a place less traveled with some of the most local flavors this is the spot! I lived in Italy for over three years and by far this is one of the best restaurants I ever went to. From there appetizers, to their pastas, to their meat/fish dishes, to their desserts, to the wine...everything is amazing! One of the biggest telltale signs is that you will find a full of locals. You won't find better for your money here in Florence!!!!!

Yelp
I'm not sure I will have a better food experience than we had at La Lola. My husband & I we're recommended by our air bnb host to try this place. We had lunch there & the waiter was so welcoming. He said to simply trust his recommendations & were so glad we did! Not a touristy spot, if you want good authentic Italian atmosphere & cuisine- you must go here! Grazie Mille La Lola!

Yelp
Simply delicious! We had spinach crudi, pasta with rabbit ragu and squid stuffed with the cream of eggplant. Creative dishes sized perfectly. Cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert - not a crumb left on our plates!

Yelp
Innovative, delicious, dishes served by welcoming, intelligent staff makes Dalla Lola a wonderful place to eat. The complex layering of flavors of the pasta with "Chianti Tuna" and candied grapefruit was ingenious. You can tell this imaginative chef is really enjoying cooking. Thank you to the whole staff for a great evening!

Yelp
SO amazing. Excellent service, unique food experience - one of the best places we've been on this trip. Also known as "Il chicco di caffe". HUGE portions, so be careful of ordering too much!
