Dang Hot 89 is a food truck at Celis Brewery serving up Nashville hot chicken that's juicy, crispy, and bursting with bold flavors—go spicy or go home!
"Dang Hot 89 is a Nashville-style hot chicken trailer located in a big dirt lot in Northwest Austin. It’s also home to some ridiculously hot fried chicken, available in bone-in, tender, and sandwich form at spice levels that range from mild to “dang hot.” Whatever form you choose, just know that this will be some of the juiciest (and spiciest) chicken you can get your hands on in Austin. We visited Dang Hot 89 and added it to the Hit List." - nicolai mccrary
"The recently relocated food truck is all about Nashville hot fried chicken, which, yes, means plenty of spicy bone-in and boneless fried chicken. Takeout and delivery orders can be placed online or in person; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in areas courtesy of host site Celis Brewery." - Nadia Chaudhury
"Fans of Nashville-style hot chicken won’t need an address to find Dang Hot 89—the smell of sizzling cayenne pepper cuts straight through the North Austin air like a bat signal. For everyone else, just plug Celis Brewery into your GPS. This truck has some of the juiciest, most flavorful fried chicken in town. The breading is crispy, and the outer spice layer on each piece resembles the red tint of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. The only downside is that heat levels can be inconsistent. We’ve tried a medium that made us cry, but we’ve also had a “dang hot” (the spiciest option, allegedly) that barely tickled the tongue. If you’re looking to test the limits of human spice tolerance, there are more consistent options in town, like Tumble 22 and Hattie B’s. But if you’re a poultry enthusiast simply looking for great tenders, wings, and fried chicken sandwiches, Dang Hot 89 is everything you need in a food trailer. photo credit: Richard Casteel Food Rundown photo credit: Richard Casteel Tenders The meat is tender from end to end, with crispy breading that adds great texture and contrast. If you’re looking for tenders, these are among Austin’s best. photo credit: Richard Casteel Boneless Thighs These are pretty thin and not quite as juicy as the tenders, but thanks to all the fat in the meat, they still come out pretty moist. We prefer the tenders, but the thighs are a solid alternative. photo credit: Richard Casteel Fried Tender Sandwich Everything you need to know about this is right there in the name. It’s a good chicken sandwich, but unless you really like carbs, we’d just order the tenders instead." - Nicolai McCrary
"Fans of Nashville-style hot chicken probably already knew of Dang Hot 89’s arrival long before we had a chance to visit—the smell of sizzling cayenne pepper cuts straight through the air like a bat signal. Taco Bell mild-saucers beware, this is one of the few Austin spots where the “dang hot” spicy level should be taken seriously. This is a food trailer in the middle of a big dirt lot in Northwest Austin, but you’re not here for ambiance. You’re just here for ridiculously hot chicken, and you can get it in tender, bone-in, or sandwich form. Whatever you choose, just know that this will likely be some of the juiciest chicken you’ll get your hands on—with crispy skin and a Hot Cheeto-red tint to the whole thing. And once you do get your hands on it, remember to be careful around your eyes. " - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
