Best Burgers in Philadelphia | Eater Philly

"This is the local burger-lover’s mix: A double smash patty and melted American cheese between a Mighty Bread sourdough bun alongside a Green Meadow Farm half sour kirby — absolutely tasty." - Maddy Sweitzer-Lamme

15 Essential Brunch Spots in Philly

"This new addition to Midtown Village has an impressive brunch menu from the owners who also own Bud & Marilyn’s, Little Nonna’s, Barbuzzo, and others. Pro-tip: Try their daily milk buns, malted pancakes (made with butter, maple syrup, and smoked sea salt), and chilaquiles (made with shortrib ropa vieja, fried egg, guacamole, smoky tomato salsa, radish, crispy corn tortillas, shaved corn, black beans, crema, lime, and cheese)." - Ernest Owens

Darling Jack's Tavern - Review - Midtown Village - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Darling Jack’s is the newest restaurant from the team behind Barbuzzo and Little Nonna’s. Like the others, it's a highly stylized, laidback Midtown Village restaurant. Unlike its brethren, we have no idea what’s going on with the menu. The highlight is the tavern-style pizza with crispy burnt edges and a sweet tomato sauce. But it also serves things like crispy potato with caviar, pappardelle with rabbit sausage, and gochujang-glazed lamb ribs—all of which are serviceable, but don’t work in a meal anchored by pizza. It has a great atmosphere and fine enough food, so if you’re in the area with a group, it can work on short notice. photo credit: Jason Varney photo credit: Jason Varney photo credit: Jason Varney" - Alison B. Darling Jack's Tavern nails it as a charming happy hour spot with some great snacks and amazing atmosphere. While I recommend visiting for a spot at the bar, I unfortunately can't further recommend it for a full dinner. We had a reservation for two for dinner, and luckily for us they had small two-person booths available in the bar area which meant we could still get happy hour deals (happy hour isn't available in the non-bar areas). We did their tavern wedge salad which was a quite heavy wedge of lettuce loaded with bacon, cheese, avocado, and ranch. I enjoyed it just fine and my wife liked it quite a bit. My favorite thing, and definitely the main attraction if I were to return, was their tavern style pizza. For a reasonable price it was a flavorful, crispy, perfectly shareable and simple pizza. While I really appreciated it, I will note that my wife wasn't as enthusiastic and just thought it was okay. The big disappointment was the braised short rib cannelloni. Despite how good it looks in the picture, we were surprised that it was mediocre to borderline bad. The pasta was dry, the beef was completely flavorless, and for the size of both elements it didn't make any sense to put them together in the dish when they made each other worse. The sauce was the only saving grace but it wasn't enough. Do not get this dish despite how tempting it sounds. Overall I enjoyed our experience well enough, and can understand someone having a great time if they focused solely on the bar and happy hour snack side of things. But other aspects might be disappointing.

Nice place. It's bigger than it looks outside. They do have a cute little outside seating area or you can eat inside. Really good food. The greater at the front was so nice and polite. It wasn't busy at the time so there was no wait to be seated. Three food came out rather quickly and it was DELICIOUS! There is little to no parking on the street, so you will need to park and walk. I will definitely come back here and definitely recommend if in the area.

My wife and I had our second visit to Darling Jack's Tavern last night. We wanted to make sure the first night's fabulous meal, service and atmosphere wasn't just a "Flash in The Pan", excuse the pun. Anyway, it wasn't. The Manager, James and his team (Catherine - first night and Mitch - second night) made us feel very welcome and the food was delicious. I had the Fish and Chips and my wife had the burger and fries. The serving of coleslaw with the Fish and Chips was particularly tasty. There are so many restaurants to choose from in Philly but it's great to know there is one that will always impress every time we visit.

First “Let’s Do Lunch” Experience – Loved It! I recently tried my first Let’s Do Lunch event in the city and chose Darling Jack’s because of their fresh, vegan-friendly menu and breezy summertime vibes. The tavern is super charming—at first, it looks like just a bar with a few seats, but a couple of quick lefts lead you into a cozy, vintage-feeling space with much more seating. A fun surprise! The service was impeccable. Our server explained the lunch deal clearly: $30 for two people, which includes one shared appetizer or dessert, plus an entrée each. We went with the dressed veggie salad, and it was fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed it so much that we ordered dessert separately afterward—the lemon oil cake was light, zesty, and absolutely perfect. Just a heads-up: each restaurant participating in Let’s Do Lunch has its own unique menu, so your experience may vary. But if you're considering Darling Jack’s, I definitely recommend it!

We recently visited Philadelphia and came across Darling Jack’s and what a find! We ate at the restaurant three times over a five day stay. We sat at the bar. The service was excellent, the drinks were delicious and the food was really good! We tried the homemade mozzarella sticks (WOW!), the wedge salad (FABULOUS!), the smoked fish dip and the whipped feta (SO GOOD!). For entrees, we sampled the chicken, the steak frites (AMAZING!), the pepperoni pizza (THAT CRUST!), the fried fish sandwich (a hint of allspice in the slaw!) and the smash burger (Yum!!). If we are ever back in Philly, we will be back! Thank you for some lovely meals and incredibly attentive service!

This place saved us on this 4th of July when the city decided to closed almost everyplace and leave tourists starving. It was almost 4pm and a bigger part of our plans went down: the city was closed in almost every tourist attraction and a lot of restaurants including Reading Terminal decided the same. After walking half city, we found this place and couldn’t be happier. Wonderful service, food and environment. The food came super tasty, right temperature, delicious! I love that they have some outdoor tables, a high chair for kids, and happy hour even on holidays. I ordered the trout and my husband the steak with Fries. We also loved the whipped feta appetizer!

This was one of my favorite restaurants of all time! The Ham & Clam Pizza was absolutely to die for, and the workers were very friendly! It is a busy and bustling restaurant, and I would say that the food is some of the best I’ve ever had overall! I would in the highest terms suggest everyone try the food here!

I had the Allentown signature cocktail, it's a Bourbon strawberry bitters adventure, worth every penny, $15. My second time here, my first was just as good. Great wine and an appetizer, steak tartar, the care in good quality is taste-able. Then, my third experience included an old fashioned, delicious, and the pea and asparagus salad as an appetizer, better with every bite, followed by the braised short rib cannelloni, rich and decadent, and then the banana pudding for dessert, so sweet it's wall-bouncing. My friend had 2 glasses of house cabernet. The bill was $82.

Yelp
Darling Jack's is TRULY a place to visit to feel welcomed, get amazing food, have some great laughs and have a touch of love! I've had the opportunity to go for brunch, happy hour & dinner! One of my top places in the city for HH! The Blood Orange Margarita is a must! I've included the HH menu and some signature items!! The smash burger is my absolute favorite, they pair well together. The chicken & waffle during my last brunch visit was a HIT! It was such a large portion but truly worth it and unlike any other Chicken N' Waffle I've had. A special shoutout to the AMAZING staff. There was never a visit where I didn't feel apart of the Darling Jack's family! Peter & Adam behind the bar are great! I'd recommend as a 10/10 and a MUST visit establishment if you're in Philly, the area, a foodie and everything in between!

Yelp
I ordered from Darling Jack's maybe 9 months ago? And it was fabulous - coming from the midwest, tavern style pizza is familiar and comforting! Tonight, while my parents (from the midwest) were visiting, it seemed perfect to order a tavern-style pizza - the cheese and cheese, with extra cheese, charred onions, mushrooms, and sausage - and crispy calamari as an app (why not?). This was honestly the most disappointing meal I have had in a long time. - Everything was cold. (Delivery person arrived on a bike in 30 degree weather, which also explains the DELAY - and I know that's delivery and not restaurant, but the restaurant needs to know that the order was late, cold, and delivered on bicycle.) - No way there was extra cheese on this pizza. Not a ton of toppings, esp. given the upcharges. (Sausage? Maybe missing?) There was nothing there - little sauce or cheese or toppings or crust or... flavor!! Worst pizza I've had in the past few years. - Calamari was not crispy, it was oily, as in take a bite and your mouth filled with oil. Flavorless. Really disappointing! I won't be ordering again. There are too many great pizza places in Philly, and Jack's doesn't come close. (This pains me! Given my first order was amazing... What happened???)

Yelp
Visited Darling Jack's Tavern for a quick dinner as it was around the corner from our hotel. Loved the warm, dim, cozy vibe of the place. Perfect for a date night. Cheese & Cheese Pizza: 4/5 A rich, cheesy indulgence. Thin crust but not too crispy. Mushroom & Garlic Pizza: 4.5/5 Earthy and garlicky with a great crust. A great option. A good spot for comforting pizza. Service was okay, did the job, but not exceptionally friendly.

Yelp
I checked out Darling Jack's on a recommendation from a friend! We met up during Happy Hour and upon entering you could feel the vibe! I knew this place would deliver and I ordered the pizza from the Happy Hour Menu! We got the wine & beer as well of the Happy Hour Menu.. Tip: must sit @ bar to enjoy Gapot Hour prices! The food was Soooooo Delicious! The pizza was thin & crispy crust ...and we decided on the Calamari as well! The bartender was helpful and offered suggestions! Overall, I would return to check out more menu items!

Yelp
First off the restaurant is such a vibe. Sexy , romantic. I had a little solo celebratory dinner and Im glad I chose this place. Tyria is such a sweet and beautiful spirit. Shes so nice. Seated me right away. Love front of the house staff who are professional and polite as she is. Eddie my waiter, love him!! his energy. He was knowledgeable about the menu, and helped me with my choice. His infectious energy made me have a great meal. The whole restaurant looked like they had a great time. I can't wait to come back when im in town and tell my friends . Thank yall

Yelp
Love the ambiance here. It's a modern day tavern vibe - has some outdoor seating. Great for a cold day. The French onion soup is amazing and very filling. Their burger is also great. Just came for lunch this time but, Need to come back asap to try the pizza and pastas!

Yelp
Came here on a weekend trip to Philly. Sat at the gorgeous bar for a few hours. We had amazing drinks -- I loved the flannel and ugg boots cocktail. My fiancé loved the Gold Rush. The food looked amazing as well. Definitely a great place to relax.

Yelp
I recently stopped into Darling Jack's for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and the experience was great. My friend had suggested it based on her own previous experiences there and I'm so happy she did. Darling Jack's Tavern, to me, doesn't seem much like a tavern, but more like a former luncheonette turned fine dining spot. The place is a little dark inside, but tastefully decorated and elegant. Since it was such a beautiful day outside, we pretty much had the smallish interior to ourselves. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and our equally amiable server came over straight away to help us get settled in. Upon our request for suggestions, he was quick to point out that their pizzas were excellent. So, my dining partner ordered the roasted squash and gorgonzola pie and I opted for the chicken schnitzel 'Caesar,' which was full of wonderful flavors. The pizza, which I sampled, as well, was just as delicious. As a Philly newbie, I'm always looking for nice restaurants to bring out of town guests, and I've most certainly found one in Darling Jack's. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This place really doesn't miss. This wasn't my first time coming, and I'm sad that it took me a while to come back. I forgot how good this place is. I brought some friend here this time around, and they loved it. They loved the ambiance, the food, and the service, lol, as did I. When you walk in, you feel like you're in a classy speakeasy. The people here are pretty nice. I recommend you make reservations if you're coming for brunch on the weekend. That's what I did, and it worked out perfectly. The service was great. Just be aware that if you're someone who like to really customize their dish, there are some things that they won't accommodate here like a half-order of pancakes. Other than that, we all destroyed our food. I had the crispy chicken bowl, and it was delicious. We all had something different and all raved about it. Come check this place out!

Yelp
PAPPARDELLE - 10/10. delicious, hearty & so fucking flavorful. the portion size looks small but once you get into it, it's bigger than it seems. ROASTED SQUASH + GONGONZOLA "pizza" - 6/10. it absolutely is NOT pizza. it's a large cracker with toppings. all of the toppings were delicious and well put together. but this in no way ever is to be considered a pizza. NAPA CABBAGE + APPLE SALAD - 10/10. flavorful, large portion. hearty delicious veggies that are super fresh. every bites was so good. the dressing was amazing. we waited 7-10 minutes @ the door to be seated when we walked in. got a seat by the bar. our server was very nice. short on words but nice ! the establishment is so cute. very pretty.

Yelp
Though I've visited the other Safran Tourney restaurants in town, including Barbuzzo (next door), this one flew under my radar. Happy I took the chance and checked them out this summer! It has a similarly classic, low-lit, intimate, mellow vibe as the other Safran Tourney restaurants. Unlike the others, this one is open during the day--great if you want lunch, or simply to avoid the dinner time crowds. Service was prompt and attentive, even when it was busy. I ordered the crispy fish sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was a filling, perfectly fried and seasoned portion of fish on a delicious bun. The pickled carrots made for a tasty alternative to lettuce.

Yelp
Darling Jacks is exactly what it sounds like... darling! The ambience was low lit and sexy, but still warm and welcoming. My girlfriend and I shared a small two top and split the whipped goat cheese with toasted bread. We each ordered a glass of vino verde and for my entree I had the burger and fries. The prices are reasonable, the portion huge, and the flavor on point. Highly recommend this chic little spot!

Yelp
I was in Philly from out of town (Dallas) for a concert two weeks ago and was running late to get to a concert. I found out about Darling Jack's through Yelp and decided to stop in before heading the concert at the Fillmore. I sat at the bar and I'm happy that the bartender and DJT got me in and out of dinner fast! Like within 45 minutes! I had the burger, which was excellent, and a great old fashioned. I could tell that the pickles on the burger were made in house, which was a nice touch. The burger was cooked to perfection. No notes. The service from the bartender was very efficient. I'm sure I seemed strange, simply because I was in a race against time. The ambiance was very cool and seems like a great spot for a good meal or cocktail, for a date or for a night out with friends. I highly recommend Darling Jack's Tavern (love the name by the way).

Yelp
I came to Darling Jack's Tavern with a large group and was able to order off of a set menu. For the starter, I got an apple salad and it was pretty good. Parts of it felt a bit too sour for me but the portion was massive. The size of the trout was much smaller in comparison but I was very impressed with the flavor, specifically with the grainy stuff below the trout itself. The olive oil lemon cake was honestly my favorite of the night though. The lemon flakes on top were a bit too much for me and others, but the cream cheese frosting and olive oil cake were delightful.

Yelp
Everything we had here was absolutely phenomenal! All of their pizza's were delicious. We loved their drinks & their appetizers like the Brussel sprouts & the watermelon salad were so tasty! Loved the ambience of this place - Definitely will be returning on my next trip to Philly!

Yelp
Came to Darling Jacks Tavern because we heard rave reviews about the happy hour and specifically the tavern pizza! Everything was very tasty! I definitely will be back just for the espresso martini, the delicious French onion soup as well as the pizza! Drinks: ~ Espresso Martini (top notch!) Appetizers: ~ French Onion Soup (amazing) ~ Focaccia Bread with Whipped Brie ~ Tavern Cheese Pizza (love a good bar pie) Entrees: ~ Shrimp Scampi

Yelp
We came for Father's Day brunch with reservations and were surprised to see only two other tables filled at 10:30. We were greeted kindly by every worker we saw as we were taken back to our seats. There are two rooms connected by the kitchen/bar areas. The interior is designed nicely and looks like they can fit a decent amount of people inside! We started off with putting two orders of the milkbuns in. It seems as though the flavor of this changes frequently there. The texture was delicious, very light, fluffy, and buttery. The taste was okay by me, a little salty with the salted caramel and pistachios, but the majority of the table really enjoyed eating them. I had the chicken and waffles (You can ask for the egg on the side because it will come on top if not). This was so so good! I judge chicken and waffles at brunch pretty tough and was really impressed with them. I also had a mimosa which was really refreshing. The other members of my party had the 2-1-5, the pancakes, and the tavern dip sandwich. They all loved their food as well. They box your leftovers for you and give adorable bags with them.
google avatar

Yelp
My update is simply to say that the fried mozzarella sticks (they were running low so if you see them hurry and order because everyone else is!) are DELICIOUS! How good can a fried mozzarella stick be you say? (I mean *I* said that!). THIS good. Creamy gooey on the inside, perfect crunch on the outside and some very beautifully distributed marinara sauce that is actually the understatement of the dish but the absolute statement this dish needs. My twenty-something daughter said, "I just want three orders of these and then I would go home happy". (We only had one order... next time three!)

Yelp
Came for the first time the other day and I think this place was great! The staff was extremely friendly! And most of the food was amazing! Food/Drinks: American cuisine! They have great large plate choices and it seems they are quite known for their pizza! Not sure if it was just the one we ordered, but we tried their clam & ham pizza for an appetizer and it was good, though a tad bit salty (than expected, though knew it would've been since it had ham). The cheese plate was also quite good. I had the roasted half chicken, and it was AMAZING! The aromatics it gave off as you ate it made it even all the better! Definitely recommend! Ambiance/Service: As said above, definitely above average! The server came at regular intervals and was helpful! Not a tough restaurant to find. Being in center city, parking can be tough. Interior is dark and slightly intimate. Great to bring a date to, but also great for groups! We sat by the window, and it had great light! Rating: 8.5/10 Recommendations: Roasted chicken, cheese board

Yelp
Came in after going to Reading Terminal Market for a drink before Ubering to the airport. The bartender was good. I tried one drink on the menu and one off the menu and both were yum. They had high quality ingredients (including Green Chartreuse which is hard to come by where I live). The bartender even asked the bar manager to give me suggestions to try to find some Green Chartreuse. Great service. Charming place. Bathroom was clean. I recommend.

Yelp
After a long day of standing at the APSA conference in the Pennsylvania Convention Center, I needed a hearty dinner before recuperating for the next day. I searched yelp and found Darling Jack's tavern. Since I went to this conference solo, I dined alone as well. I was seated at the Chef's table where I had a great view of all the chefs preparing awe-inspiring dishes while I waited. Thankfully, my server came quickly and he was very friendly. I ordered the bar-bite sized whipped feta, and the lamb skewers as a main dish. The whipped feta came out first with two buttery pieces of sourdough toast. But, I waited until the lamb skewers arrived too, so I could combine the two dishes. The marrying of these two plates was divine. I accompanied my meal with a glass of Malbec. The total cost of this meal was just what o was expecting. Thus, the food, the service, and the cost was spot on and satisfactory please arrive to darling jack's hungry and leave happy.

Yelp
Nice elevated food from folks behind barbuzzo - really big portions . Quite loud unfortunately in the space like almost to point where you can't hear urself.

Yelp
I was thrilled to see that Darling Jack's Tavern was open on a Monday for lunch. I was at the Flower Show solo and wanted to treat myself to a leisurely lunch with a cocktail. I love the atmosphere and wanted to sit at the bar this time. I just had to get the beets again even though I knew that meant I was ordering too much food. I also had the Sesame Salmon Bowl and a Spicy Paloma. I sat at the bar solo. Service was perfection. This was my second visit. I wish I lived closer. Big kudos to Owner/Mgt/Staff for delicious menu, cocktails, and excellent service. I would mention the bartender by name but my old brain forgot. Sincere and professional service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Came here for a quick happy hour last Wednesday and had a whiskey and some really good food. Happy Hour is between 5-7 and I arrived around 6. The bar was already full but there was one seat at the end of the bar and I ordered the whipped feta served with beets and tomato and some really yummy toasted bread, the smash burger and a cheese and mushroom pizza. Everything was good, especially the pizza - super tasty! Service was good and it is a bit small, but had a good vibe. Hoping to come back again before I leave in a few days.

Yelp
This is the best damn Lemon Drop I ever had. Clifton will take great care of you. I kept it light with the Crispy Calamari and it was quite good. Not overbreaded or overgreased. Nice aioli but did not need it. But dayum, this drink made my night.... Ambience is very intimate inside but such a nice night I sat outside. When in Philly, this is a definite recommend.

Yelp
This place was rather large and gives an upscale diner vibe. Lots of pizza options. Decided to try something unique and got a clam and ham to share. The pizza was cooked perfectly. I love a crispy thin crust and the cheese we plentiful. However I learned that I'm not a fan of seafood on my pizza. My friend really loved it though and so did my fiancé with the leftovers I brought home. It's a unique pizza that may not be for everyone. The cocktails were tasty and not too overpowering. I would definitely want to come back and try more of the pizza options and their drinks.

Yelp
I've frequented this place several times in the past few months, and with each visit, my enthusiasm has only grown! Dash over during Happy Hour to secure a coveted spot at the bar. The Happy Hour menu boasts offerings like whipped feta, cheese pizza (+ mushrooms), and great cocktail specials. My personal favorite? The blood orange margarita - you know, if you know! If you're planning a dining experience, the menu offers a delightful array of tasty options. Every dish we've tried so far has been wonderful. The servers are also always willing to let you know what popular items have been! The ambiance is dark and moody, with quirky wall decor that adds to the overall charm. I'd suggest happy hour over dinner here, but 100% worth a visit!

Yelp
Imagine stepping into this establishment on a hot Saturday morning. As soon as you open the door, the refreshing blast of air conditioning hits you, offering immediate relief. But that's just the beginning. The food and service were equally amazing. We sat in a charming little nook at the front of the restaurant, which offered a lovely view for people-watching. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles, while I chose the 215, their traditional breakfast that includes eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, and home fries. First off, the sausage was phenomenal--possibly the best I've ever tasted. I'm not sure where they source it, but it's a perfect 10 out of 10. Our server, Adam, was a sweetheart, offering great recommendations. The mimosas were strong, just as expected. We'll definitely be back next time we're in town!
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
Dined here late in the evening. We were seated on the side with bar in a small booth. Very dimly lit and quiet vibe when we were here but I'm sure it's much more lively during the busier dining hours. There is another side with a larger dining area and more tables. The food was good however not too many full meal vegetarian options. The veggie options are more sides or pizza if you aren't vegan. I would like to try their pizzas sometime but we opted for various veggie sides and startes. Overall, it was a nice visit and I would definitely come back to try other menu items.

Yelp
I've been here probably 8 million times since it opened. I love coming here for happy hour and I love coming here for dinner. The service is always quick and friendly. Did I mention that the food is amazing? Darling Jack's has definitely become one of my favorite pizza places around the city. It's super thin and crispy crust is amazing. From the happy hour menu, I always get the chips + dip, smash burger, and the tavern style cheese pizza. For dinner, I love the cheese + cheese pizza, potato pizza, and the spicy pepperoni pizza. Other things that I've gotten before that were good are the moules frites and the crispy potatoes and recommend them as well! The one thing I'm sad about though is that they used to make a pisco sour but have removed that from the menu. All in all - definitely a place that you should visit!

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp to good reviews but low number of reviews. I arrived to a quaint, small restaurant with most available seating at the bar counter-top. The bar is the feature of the restaurant although there are a few counter seats with a view to the kitchen. The menu was small with a few options to choose from. I decided to order the spicy peperoni pizza and the BBQ pork chop. My colleague ordered the French Onion Soup and the fish n' chips. My pizza was cut into pieces instead of traditional slices. The pepperoni was high-quality but the dough was thin and had the texture of cardboard. The pork chop was huge and had peach slices on top of it. The porkchop was OK. My colleague though that his food items were OK. We had great service from our bartender who was also our server. He was polite, friendly and was knowledgeable about the menu. The ambience of this place was nice, the decor was nice and even the restroom was nice. I think this place could do better on the food. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
I was originally going to go somewhere else for happy hour but ended up here and it was such a treat! The booth I was in was very small and cozy, I'd love to come back on a date and sit there. I got the whipped feta which was absolutely amazing. It came with zatar, roasted peppers, and cucumbers, with toasted sourdough on the side, it was utterly divine. To drink I got a Moscow mule which was alright, but not terribly standout-ish. I'd absolutely go back for the feta tho, it was the star of the show.

Yelp
First stop in Philly and this was a very solid lunch spot! The French dip was definitely the best thing we ordered. The pizza was great. I love the thing crust and small square slices. I didn't love the sausage because it was sweeter than I was expecting, but I would say that is just my preference. I would 100% go back and try the other pizzas on the menu. On the other hand, service was great and I love the ambiance. They have a nice outdoor seating option on the street and a dark and sexy vibe inside with a big bar.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great weeknight dinner here and they were able to accommodate us when our party went from 2 to 3 which was great. Wish I tried the pizza!!! But the carrot and burrata app was amazing. The French onion soup was good but not great- maybe it needs different cheeses? Staff was very nice (: nice ambiance for a date too.

Yelp
Happy hour at Darling Jack's will feed you for cheap! Everything on the happy hour menu was under $10, and for $10, you can get a whole cheese pizza. I got the smash burger ($6) and a blood orange margarita (absolutely huge for $8), and it did not disappoint. Burger was crispy and delicious while the blood orange margarita was strong and a very good size. The interior is moody, dark, and intimate with tables, a chef's counter right in front of the kitchen, and a decently sized bar. Would recommend getting there closer to 4 for their happy hour as it gets busy past 5. No reservations for happy hour at the bar, walk ins only.

Yelp
We had brunch for the first time in January, and it was so good! The milk bun is to die for and the French onion soup was one of the best we've ever tasted. Our server was great, and every single worker went out of their way to smile or say hello as we walked to and from our table. Overall, this is a hidden gem and we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
French onion soup was an onion overload. The "warm" cardamom milk bun looked good on paper but was far from warm and too heavy. I would've preferred an ice cream instead of the cream cheese. Skip the Chilaquiles, it's just nachos with really thick and soggy chips topped with a sunny side up. They should remove the "Spicy" from the Spicy Paloma because it was anything but. Razzmatazz was done right.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place but honestly am pretty unimpressed. TLDR- with such good options literally next door, I don't think I'd come back here. We had a reservation for a Thursday night and were seated promptly. The vibes are dark and romantic- not dissimilar from Barbuzzo. We got the focaccia to start- this was probably the highlight of the meal. To be fair, it's hard to go wrong with bread and cheese. We also got espresso martinis, but swapped out the whiskey for vodka. These were pretty terrible. It was like someone just put a shot of Titos and a shot of espresso in a martini glass. For entrees, my friend got the pepperoni pizza and I got the corn agnolotti. My friend liked her pizza, but I was pretty indifferent about the agnolotti. It was alright, but a little too salty for my taste. We got the banana tiramisu for dessert and this was sort of like a bad knockoff of Magnolias banana pudding. I didn't really understand where the tiramisu part of it was. The unremarkable food and the slow service combined for a pretty lackluster meal. With so many fantastic options just a few steps away, I probably won't come back here.

Yelp
Came for the $8 giant happy hour margs until 7 pm, stayed for the food and service. This place is wonderful! Don't let them fool you - when you enter, there is a long, skinny bar and a few intimate tables, but as you go to the back of the restaurant, it opens to a huge dining room, so they have plenty of space for larger groups or may have seats and you don't know it. We came with 6 people and were easily and quickly seated. The bartender was very warm and quickly handled our order. Both the Burrata and croquettes were 1. On the happy hour menu and 2. Delicious. Will definitely be back

Yelp
The food was excellent . We had a smash burger and a sausage pizza . Both were really enjoyable, especially the Smashburger. I like that they're open throughout the day, as so many restaurants in Philly do not open until 5 PM. On the not so great side, our drinks were WEAK. I cannot stand it when bartenders poor weak drinks, that's an insult to the customer who is already paying $15 or so for cocktails/mixed drinks. That's a huge turn off and I will not be returning. Shame, like I said the food was great

Yelp
A new restaurant just for us (boyfriend and me!) to try. I was quite surprised at how big the restaurant was and definitely was not expecting a second side! The ambiance inside was cool, intimate and charming - a great place for a date! We ordered the summer cucumbers which came with peaches and dill. This was such a refreshing dish especially on a hot summer day! The pepperoni tavern pizza was amazing and perfect for us pizza lovers. We also ordered the crab pasta which was delicious as well, but a little under seasoned. Overall our meals were great and we left no scraps or leftovers to take home. Our waiter was awesome and always checked in. Definitely will be back to try out the other pizzas!

Yelp
A great place to stop in and dine! We came here for restaurant week and they did not disappoint, from the service to the food, everything was great. They have 2 sides, a bar with a small dining section and then a full dining room on the other side of the building. Our server was very attentive, great conversation without creating a sense of too much talking or hovering 5/5. The food was great I just had some personal dislikes that resulted in 4/5. The clam chowder was good for my first experience, good portion size as well. The spicy pepperoni pizza was a mix of good flavors from the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. The dough held firm on the thin crust (not flimsy) so you had a nice crunch without it being burnt. The spicy pepperoni however was not spicy it was just regular pepperoni. I was a fan of the candied walnuts in the banana pudding, never had that combination before, but the cream cheese ruined it initially. Too much for the serving and it overpowered, had to remove most of it, a little goes a long in this mixture. Scoop off the cream cheese and it's a good dessert. Would try again.

Yelp
Really cute places. Loved the decor. Didn't have a reservation but was seated promptly. Hostess was very nice. We didn't realize they had a restaurant week menu, Which was really a good deal. We got two appetizers and two entrées. The calamari was so good , not too fried perfectly seasoned and still crunchy. I've actually never tried fried calamari so good. The ricotta appetizer is also a must the sourdough is so fresh and it was different from anything else on menus. The burger was delicious. Love the sauce, the shoestring fries it came with also a nice touch, the pizza was just okay for me.

Yelp
I dined at Darling Jacks as a party of 3 on a Thursday night. I definitely recommend trying to get a reservation. As an appetizer, we ordered the Figs + Ricotta and we devoured it. It was amazing - just wish it had more pieces of bread because there was a lot of cheese. Me and another one in my party ordered the Steak Frites entree and it was fantastic. A delicious classic. The service was friendly and very attentive. The vibe was lively and local. I can't wait to return and try one of their raved about pizzas!

Yelp
i went for happy hour and the food was completely mediocre. i had positive feelings, it just was plain burger and plain pizza and plain croquettes. the burger might as well be fast food quality as i'd rather just have In N Out. i had an old fashioned though and it was well made.

Yelp
Went here for a group conference dinner and it did not disappoint. Had a glass of Barbera red wine (my favorite), along with the pizzas! Took photos of steak and roasted chicken - both looked delicious! The service was great especially for a large group.

Yelp
Cute spot for a drink and bite to eat. We loved the thin crust on the pizza, the cheese and fried onion on the soup, and the pasta. The drinks here are lovely too! We have had drinks at the bar and dinner at a table, and both were positive experiences. One thing to note is that the place can get fairly crowded and feel a little claustrophobic. However, if you are used to restaurants in NYC, you will feel right at home.

Yelp
One of the best HH in center city. Great to sit outside on a sunny day. I love the aperol spritz and all of their HH food (their cheeseburger is the best.) I have never tried the full menu however they had a lamb special which looks amazing!
