Jewish deli classics, including breakfast & lunch sandwiches

"In need of steaming broth comfort over the long weekend, I ordered the golden matzo ball soup from Daughter’s Deli, a next-gen kosher-style delicatessen from Trisha Langer, daughter of Norm Langer and granddaughter of Al and Jean Langer. The deli does all the classics right with some modern flourishes — gluten-free bagels and breads are easily available to sub in for its regular slate. The matzo ball soup comes with a broth whose clarity is glass-like, as well as a healthy serving of shredded chicken and sliced carrots. I can’t speak for the matzo ball itself (that, sadly, is not gluten-free), but the soup revived me; for those who can partake, it comes with a side of irresistible bagel chips as a crackly accompaniment." - Eater Staff

"Tricia Langer, whose grandfather founded the famed Langer’s Deli in Westlake in 1946, has taken on the family business with her own West Hollywood sandwich shop using the same recipes (as approved by her father Norm, who continues to run Langer’s). At Daughter’s Deli, the mostly outdoor dining experience means for a part of the year, sandwiches are better taken to-go or delivered, but the actual food is superb. In fact, one would argue that the actual sandwich construction here of the pastrami, cheese, Russian dressing, and coleslaw (a take on the classic Number 19 from Langer’s) is better. Daughter’s sources their meat from Burbank producer R.C. Provisions, so those wanting that tender, peppery pastrami will be very satisfied here. When the weather’s nice, the long sidewalk patio is a fantastic place to take in sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and other Jewish deli classics along Sunset Boulevard. — Matthew Kang, lead editor, Eater Southern California/Southwest" - Mona Holmes

"Daughter’s is a tiny Jewish deli run by the granddaughter of LA pastrami royalty, the owner of Langer’s. This order-at-the-counter shop on Sunset only has a few tables and some stools, so this isn’t your work team hangout spot. Come here when your life is hanging by a thread and you need to lightly weep into some matzo ball soup. The pastrami hasn’t reached Langer’s levels yet, but it’s still solid, and they certainly know how to build a good sandwich." - brant cox
"Daughter’s is a new Jewish deli run by the granddaughter of LA pastrami royalty - the owner of Langer’s. This tiny, order-at-the-counter spot only has a few tables and some stools, so this isn’t your work floor lunch spot. Come here when your life is hanging by a thread and you need to cry into some matzo ball soup in solitude. The pastrami hasn’t reached Langer’s levels yet, but it’s still solid, and they certainly know how to build a good sandwich. That said, our favorite thing here is the bagel and lox." - brant cox

"Daughter’s Deli hails from Jewish deli royalty. Its founder, Trisha Langer, is the daughter of Norm Langer and granddaughter of Al and Jean Langer, all of Langer’s Deli fame. While Daughter’s Deli boasts many overlapping menu items like Langer’s, the offerings have Trisha’s distinct touch with breakfast bagel sandwiches and hot pastrami sandwiches. In the morning, make sure to order the sweet and satisfying challah French toast, which is best enjoyed with a drizzle of maple syrup." - Rebecca Roland
