"Daughter’s Diner, the new breakfast spot from a husband-and-wife team, will be participating. Specials still TBD, but here’s hoping there’s a hot take on a breakfast sandwich, and maybe some of those princess pancakes with marzipan and jam." - Becky Duffett

"The second I wake up, I seriously contemplate skipping my morning meetings so I can drive over to Daughter’s Diner in Uptown Oakland for a Beast Mode bagel sandwich, which comes with incredible house-made sausage, arugula, pickled onions, and brie on a fresh Boichik bagel. Shortly after, like clockwork, my mind wanders to the princess pancakes. If it were pancake week on The Great British Bake Off, I’d bet money that this bright purple masterpiece would receive a Paul Hollywood handshake thanks to its sweet raspberry jam layers, melty almond marzipan, and dusting of powdered sugar. I’d eat these pancakes any time of the day - which, luckily, I can, because the whole menu is served until 9pm." - Julia Chen

"Berkeleyside was first to report that Daughter’s Diner, chef Keven Wilson’s (RN74, Perbacco) take on a modern diner-style spot, has opened its doors. Tablehopper has menu details like a sandwich called “ham on the run” (chopped ham salad, egg patty, arugula in a gougère) and a sweet breakfast item called “princess pancakes” (marzipan-coated, with jam inside)." - Eve Batey

Opened in October 2020, this restaurant looks like an old school diner that has been updated for 2021 style/trends. The neon light is inviting and the music is of the early 90s which gives me good vibes. Coffee is not very good. Green tea came in a tea bag. They make their own kombucha which is cool. Bathroom was clean. I ordered the Beast Mode Sandwich. It came with a salad, it’s a descent size meal for sure. The salad had a nice vinaigrette dressing. The pickled onions give this a bit of a sweet taste. The Brie is a wonderful surprise to this take on an original breakfast sandwich. It weirdly made the sandwich feel lighter than a normal breakfast sandwich that has cheddar cheese. The sausage was thick and it was a good amount of spicy (not too spicy, just right). You can honestly taste each ingredient when eating this. I wish there was an ingredient that brought all the flavors together. They have outdoor seating that is limited.

Heard about this new retro cool modern diner and wanted to give it a try! Very cool inside and I could see this as a great addition to Uptown Oakland and the neighborhood. Makes me just want to sit down, grab a burger, fries and a milkshake while listening to music from the 60's. Food: Princess Pancakes looked and tasted good! Green eggs and ham- savory. Coffee cake- mediocre. Service: Bad. The person picking up the phone sounded like she did not want to be there! She told me to call back at 10am because they were "really busy". I called back after 10 and was put on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up. I ordered through grubhub via yelp. I live in SF and had already made up my mind on trying this place and was already in the area. Waited a long time for food to be ready and the counter person had a bad attitude. She may be having a bad day but that does not make it ok, especially to a customer who is trying to support their business during these hard times and want them to succeed.

What a nice and homey diner ☺️ My friend and I came here last night around 7:30pm. My friend and I had a couple drinks and had the gnocchi tots and brussel sprouts. Gnocchi tots were something I've never had before and they were absolutely amazing with the sour cream and bacon 😍 The brussel sprouts were nice as well, except I was hoping they could be a bit more charred. All in all, such a nice atmosphere and mad props for opening up during the pandemic, can't imagine that being an easy feat. Will be back again!

I know they've just opened recently, but I've been wanting to try this spot! We ordered the Chicken Liver Plate and their Signature Princess Pancakes, both were absolutely delicious and highly recommend it! 🐔🥞 BTW, Staff's there were awesome and the owner also greeted us! 🍯🧸

Got the food to go. The food was great! That double d burger is one of the best burgers I've had in Oakland. Also got wings, fries and the roasted chicken sandwich. All great. Gotta shout out that blue cheese too.

Delicious food! You go to a counter to order after looking at provided menus, and there are cocktail options as well. Made the drive across the bridge from SF to try and it was well worth it 😋 the

I got takeout from here in August and really enjoyed it. For the portion sizes, the prices are incredibly fair. My food was ready quite fast, well before the estimated pickup time. I was impressed by the great flavors and everything else above. The super friendly owner was working and is clearly invested in the restaurant. Definitely recommend a visit!
