"If you’ve been on Capitol Hill recently and wondered why there’s a line of people along 12th and Pike, it’s because Dave’s Hot Chicken opened its first Washington location in the old Little Big Burger space. This LA-based chain serves Nashville-style chicken ranging from no spice to reaper-level heat in the form of chunky tenders and sliders smothered in “Dave's sauce.” Also, they're open until 11pm on the weekends. If you fall into the first camp, let us warn you that Dave's Hot Chicken is not worth your time or chicken tender-loving energy. Much like tiny sunglasses and Fyre Fest, this LA-based chain is past its 2017 prime. Here, you’ll find Nashville-style fried chicken ranging from mild to reaper-level heat in the form of chunky tenders and sliders smothered in “Dave's sauce” (think honey-spiked chipotle mayo). Unfortunately, the crinkle fries are stale, the potato rolls are soggy, and the tenders are limp. For a quick late-night snack on the Hill, we’d sooner hit or Dick’s.
