Vegan take on Italian American fare in a cozy setting with a deli, bar, and catering.
"A multi-level vegan deli, cheese shop, and catering company in Dupont, with dining, a yoga studio, and upcoming changes to its cocktail offerings." - Tierney Plumb
"Dupont’s dairy-free deli, cheese shop, and catering company comes from vegan-obsessed couple Leah Curran Moon — an animal activist with a PhD — and Michael Jantz Moon, a musician who’s toured with the likes of Paul Simon. Tasty vegan takes on bar fare include include trumpet mushroom “calamari” rings, barbecue cauliflower “wings,” a beet burger, fried artichoke sandwich, and “Philly cheesesteak” sub (or bowl) constructed with braised jackfruit and a cashew cheese drizzle. Sit and stay in the sleek space or order online for pickup or delivery. The owners opened a botanical cocktail den below and added dinner and brunch menus full of decadent Italian dishes." - Tierney Plumb, Emily Venezky
"Right at the 17th Street block party, DC Vegan is offering a special Pride festival menu with hot dogs, chili cheese dogs, sausage sandwiches, loaded nachos, barbecue jackfruit sandwiches, ice cream, more festival favorites. They’re also serving two to-go drink punches (You Betta Werk & Queenarita) and glitter tequila shots." - Evan Caplan
"You can trick your friends with the knockoff calamari at DC Vegan because, like everything on the menu, it’s that good. In fact, it tastes better than a lot of the calamari we’ve had in the city. The two-story restaurant has a deli upstairs that serves a range of vegan goods including delightful cauliflower “wings” marinated in buffalo sauce and desserts like carrot cake, with icing that’s finger-licking good. Downstairs, the botanical bar is adorned with flowers that fall from the ceiling. Try an aromatic drinks like the moonflower, made with aperol, elderberry, and ginger tea." - Tristiana Hinton, Omnia Saed
"Dupont’s vegan restaurant, bar, and deli rolls out a special menu from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. on parade day. DC Vegan will grill sausages and “not dogs” during the parade, plus a host of other snacks like Chick’n Parm, BBQ jackfruit, loaded nachos, fries, and Pride cupcakes. A second streetside bar will pop up in its parklet on 17th Street NW with beer, wine, punch, and liquor." - Evan Caplan
