"Deacon’s New South in downtown has a dry-aging facility on site — so you can take a peek at the meats maturing before tasting the exquisite results in the form of a porterhouse, Kansas City strip, or even a 36-ounce whiskey-aged ribeye. Other entrees at the attractive downtown restaurant show off local ingredients and Southern influences, from fried green tomatoes in an Alabama white sauce to spicy crawfish noodles." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Eater Staff
"With a new chef running the show, downtown’s L&C building’s ground floor steakhouse is still a great destination for a Monday happy hour or work dinner. Current menu highlights include fried green tomatoes with pepperjack grits, black truffle-topped carbonara, and of course, any of the house dry-aged steaks." - Delia Jo Ramsey
"September 23: Toast the Trees, an Angel’s Envy bourbon tasting and dinner at Deacon’s New South The downtown steakhouse and its executive chef Chris Calder are partnering with Angel’s Envy for a three-course appetizer spread with cocktail pairings at 6 p.m. on September 23. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased via Eventbrite. The bourbon tradition relies on white oak trees to build the barrels essential for aging America’s native spirit. The Toast the Trees campaign helps to plant the forests of tomorrow and encourages sustainability for future generations’ enjoyment. Every photo of Angel’s Envy posted and tagged equals one tree planted. Following, the tasting event, diners are welcome to stay for dinner. Reservations can be made via OpenTable or by calling 615-994-1994." - Delia Jo Ramsey

"Carla Hall is excited to revisit the steakhouse located “in the beautiful Life & Casualty building. They have great coconut cake and house-cured meats. They have a farm, too, so they offer beautiful produce as well.”" - Delia Jo Ramsey
