Beautiful little Italian restaurant in downtown Covington. The staff was warm and helpful. The food was really good and very fresh. The Tuna was awesome with a nice sweet and spicy kick. The pasta was clearly freshly made. Only had one cocktail, but it was very good. The prices are also very fair. I will certainly come back next time I am in town

Wow, what a yummy experience all around. Great atmosphere with a true Italien Cuisine I know from being from Europe. Its in the details and perfection here. Everything from the cocktails, service, presentation and flavors is 5 star!! A true wonderful experience not to be missed while visiting or living in Covington!

We had a delightful and leisurely Saturday lunch, starting with cocktails made to perfection, in a quiet but upscale atmosphere with superior service throughout the culinary experience. The lemon lavender martini was totally refreshing, as was my husband's Negroni and both well matched for a summer afternoon. We shared the Fritti Misti which had shrimp, parrot fish, jalapeños, and other veggies. We also shared the Foie Gras - a much smaller portion but very rich with a lovely presentation. The Mussels Linguini and Shrimp Risotto were both prepared to perfection and very fresh. A White Alto Adige and a Primitivo from Puglia paired very well. Portions are more than generous and there was no room for dessert. This will require a trip back. Del Porto is consistent in quality, selection, drinks and mixology, as well as service that is friendly and goes above and beyond. Raymond was exceptional!

We were with some friends during a Friday night block party and decided to come here to eat. I don't recall the names of the dishes we ate, but the appetizer was a mixture of seafood, mostly fried, and it was very good. For the main course, we got the veal and a pasta dish. The pasta was great, and the veal was amazing. Easily the best I've ever had.

My dates home had a caprise salad and then they had a Caesar salad and they had New York strip steak all were outstanding I ordered a pretzel pizza toppings were incredible the total was a little disappointing but not bad I have been here many times and have never had bad food …. service was also very attentive.

We finally booked a reservation to try Del Porto last night. We set an 8:30 dinner time. When we showed up, we were greeted and the hostess and waitress both knew it was my wife's birthday and said happy birthday many times. The restaurant was low lit with candles on each table. However, it was so incredibly loud that my wife and I could not hear each other. The food was ok. The flavors were nice on the sides, but the NY Strip was bland as if it was unseasoned. For a $40 steak I was expecting a little bit more. Service was pretty good, it was just hard to hear the waitress, so my wife ended up somehow getting an extra glass of wine she had said no to .

Superb food and service! Everything is good at Del Porto! We had a large group; tasted many appetizers and dishes. Our waiter didn’t miss a beat. We will return soon for another mouth watering dinner!

Yelp
Always so delicious and beautiful. A great atmosphere with food you'll enjoy. It's hard to find great places in downtown Old Covington. Love Del Porto.

Yelp
Del Porto Ristorante is a favorite of ours in Covington and we dined there for my 70th birthday. Del Porto never disappoints and food, wine, service, and ambiance were superb once again. Its a real gem for excellent Italian cuisine in surroundings of understated small town elegance. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Food was 5/10. The hostess/manager Gina was rude and obviously has personalty issues but our waitress was kind and courteous. The only thing good were the drinks and they were $20 a piece. I would not recommend this place when there are SO many other options in Covington. This place has gone completely downhill.

Yelp
Ate here after a graduation. Everything was delicious. From the appetizer, to the cocktails, to the dessert. Very happy and very full. We had the white bean dip to start along with a charcuterie spread. So good. All the meat, cheeses, and veggies were good. The white bean dip was so good with the bread that came with it. I had the vegetable lasagna and my friend had the cavatelli. Both were good. I didn't even miss the meat. I am a carnivore but this veggie dish was good. I would absolutely get again. Had the gelato and cookie bowl for dessert. And the delacato and another cocktail. Can't remember the name. Has tahin on the rim. But both good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The appetizers and entrees were excellent at this restaurant, so a part of me feels like I should give them a higher rating. However, two things were so egregious that I just couldn't go up another star. The first was that we were rushed. We ordered an appetizer, and in the next 10 minutes the server came back three times asking for our entree order. We gave it to her the third time, just so she'd leave us alone, although we would have liked to have taken our time. The second thing was the dessert. We ordered the pineapple cake -- for $12 we got a teensy-weensy slice with two paper thin slices of pineapple on it. Italian restaurants are supposed to be generous, and this was downright miserly.

Yelp
We recently had dinner with friends at Del Porto. The service was wonderful and the food was just delicious! Sean was our head waiter and Jackson was Sean's assistant waiter. We will definitely ask for Sean and Jackson each time we go! The quality of service made our meal and experience an excellent one!

Yelp
My husband and I are new to the area. Without solid NYE plans, we decided to have dinner at Del Porto before seeing where the night would take us. The meal started off in a great note with our server Sean. Not only was he knowledgeable about the menu, but funny and truly enthusiastic about his job. For the holiday, the chef provided guests with a complimentary amuse bouche of beet-feta salad. Even in ten complimentary sample, Sean went back to the kitchen to grab my husband a plate that did not have bacon, as he does not eat pork. He also ensured to point out pork in all things we ordered and placing it on the side of dishes to ensure we could share the meal. We ordered the short ribs and half portions of the pumpkin carbonara and house made cavatelliEverything was excellent and even tastes great as leftovers the next day. Portions were incredibly generous! I still think the star of the show was our white bean artichoke dip. Garlicky, briney and smooth. We sopped it up with the tasty toast points and took some home for toast the next day. The apple crostini with vanilla ice cream finished off our meal on a sweet note. The natural flavors of this he fruit and real vanilla really came through. As a seasonal flavor, we are looking forward to coming back when the restaurant offers another seasonal selection. We had the apple cider mojito and boulevardier as our cocktails. Truly excellent meal, service and setting.

Madeline W.

Yelp
Both were so delicious!! Service was good and accommodating to allergies. Restaurant was a little warm but good vibes.

Niki K.

Yelp
We had a wonderful meal here. Our server Will was very attentive. We really enjoyed the homemade pasta dishes and the white bean dip. The craft cocktails were also on point. I would recommend this place for friends or family gatherings. Also good for a date night.

Freida H.

Yelp
Just the best in every category. I love their fall season menus. Service is too often mediocre but the food is the by far the best in this area.

Yelp
In town for a catch-up dinner with my siblings and this place was on someone's radar. Not a ton of Yelp reviews yet - and honestly - they were pretty mixed. But the overall average was still an impressive 4 stars so ..... here we are! And we were very glad we came. From the beginning the staff were welcoming, friendly, professional and attentive. I sampled one of their specialty cocktails - Cacciavite - I believe was the name. Refreshing, vodka-based, Cointreau enhanced citrus drink. Kudos to Rebekah for making a very nice cocktail. After that it was the house Isosceles Red that was perfect for the remainder of my meal. Between the three of us we sampled a couple appetizers - Tuna Crudo & a White Bean, hummus-like app - both of which were very nicely done and covered a pretty broad spectrum of different tastes and textures. We then had three of their salads - all of which had a distinctive set of flavors and all very good. Honestly, just close your eyes and drop your finger and wherever it lands it will be something good. Following that we had two entrees and my favorite was the Cavatappi with Italian sausage and I want to say some truffle oil was lurking around in there. It was "Lick your plate" good. Nice evening, nice atmosphere. If they would do something to absorb some of the sound as the place filled up that would be a bonus. We found ourselves talking louder as the night went on. It's a solvable problem and don't let that keep you away. Great spot. Would definitely return...

Yelp
Love this place for lunch they have a great steak and potato and I just had one of the best whiskey sours of my life. If you're anywhere near Covington downtown pass by Del Puerto really glad you're dead.

Yelp
Amazing people, great feel, food is always top notch and rotates with seasonal availability, but offers fam favorites all the time also. I've visited Del Porto at minimum 100 times and have never once been let down. P.S. - get the patè y'all.

Ty S.

Yelp
Great location. Nice ambiance. Host was very nice with good conversation. The staff In charge of refilling the bread bowl was on it! Complementary champagne was very thoughtful. Good drinks. The olive oil for the bread was my husbands favorite but the entrees were not tasty & lacking of seasoning ‍ My coworkers recommended me though & said nothing but good things.

Yelp
Best food and drinks around. Love the atmosphere and the waitstaff! The desserts are amazing and the menu changes often

Yelp
We celebrated my father's 60th birthday here last night and boy did we pick a winner. The restaurant itself has a fresh and comfortable ambiance that is perfect for a special dinner. We had a party of 10 including two children ages 7 and 8. We were put in a more private area which suited our party size. The food was flavorful and presented well. The service was excellent and accommodating to our boisterous little party. I recommend this little jewel and hope they have continued success in their future. Thanks again!

Melanie W.

Yelp
Came here for lunch with my family while I was home for the holidays. This place has been on my list of places to try ever since they posted a photo on their insta of Keanu Reeves dining here. I would consider this upscale Italian, but the food does not disappoint. We started with charcuterie plate and the fritto misto. The charcuterie plate was huge even though we ordered the small one. The fritto misto was a delicately fried mix of the day's freshest seafood. I had the small order of pasta with shrimp. Everything was seasoned well and was a sizable portion. The service was great and I loved the elegant decor. It definitely lived up to the hype and is a great, elegant restaurant to have Italian food on the Northshore.

Joseph S.

Yelp
Excellent, well-prepared meals every time we eat there. A real asset to life in Covington. This is the first place I take family and friends when they visit. Do yourself a favor, try it.

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Met a friend on for apps and cocktails. The lemon lavender martini was light a d refreshing. The beef carpaccio was divine. The mussels I felt were slightly overpowered by the chorizo, but the sauce and rustic cut of bread were a nice touch. We also ended up sharing a half plate of the lemon risotto which was very flavorful and just the right amount. The option to order half plates on all of the pasta dishes is a welcomed treat. Pastas are freshly made in house daily, as well.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Amazing Italian cuisine! Authentic and great service with good ambience. A bit hard to get reservation in the weekends but it's a good bet for real South Italian specialities.

George S.

Yelp
Great Italian/contemporary fusion. First rate service, wines. Food is excellent. A little noisy.

Chan B.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Best Italian food I've tried in louisiana so far. The set up and decor is very classic Italian as well so it's a great vibe. The food is so delicious, tastes very fresh, seriously best mushrooms ever, and it just really delivers in every way. Must go!

David M.

Yelp
On our way to Nola we stayed in a Covington specifically to go to Del Porto, a wonderful restaurant we discovered about a year ago. Over the years I've lived in Italy and been to some of the best Italian restaurants in NY! Del Porto is as good as any Italian food I've ever had, anyplace! The food is all local, perfectly cooked, beautifully presented! The staff are extremely professional and genuinely friendly! Special thanks to our bartender, Brice, who waited on us before! She made us feel extremely welcome and has learned so much about food and drink since she first started, a week after our last visit! It's definitely worth a detour on your way to Nola to try out this little jewel of a restaurant in Covington, LA!

Michelle J.

Yelp
Excellent service Perfect food Prepared well Modern and high end Go u will come back!!

Nicole D.

Yelp
What a fantastic restaurant! The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was lively. And the food.... Wow! Well seasoned, fresh, delicious. We had our own bottle of wine ($25 cork fee), but the selection was impressive. I would come back to Covington for Del Porto

Kylee L.

Yelp
With dimmed lights and an upscale decor this restaurant has a great dining atmosphere in Downtown Covington. We loved the menu and will be back to try a few more of their offerings very soon. We started with their white bean and artichoke purée with crostini. It was very similar to hummus and tasted amazing! We had to take a bite of everyone's entree because none of us could decide which one to get. We had the short rib ragu, duck lasagna and pan roasted chicken with Brussels sprouts. All of the dishes were beautiful and delicious but the short rib ragu was my favorite!

Lacey D.

Yelp
I ate at Del Porto for lunch this week, and it was incredible. My husband and I ordered a variety of dishes, and they made delicious leftovers and heated up well. We started with the pizza of the day- incredible. Then we split the shrimp sandwich, the mushroom risotto, and the cavatelli pasta. Everything was excellent! Very flavorful, not greasy or heavy, and well rounded. We ended with the tiramisu which was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was excellent. We look forward to going back!

Amber B.

Yelp
My husband and I went for the first time for Valentines evening. They had a special menu since it was a holiday and the options were ok. We were expecting the special menu as we were notified when we made the reservation so that was not a problem. No steak options was a little disappointing though. The hostess was very plesant and the atmosphere was quite nice. We arrived early so we went across the street to have a before dinner drink and they texted us when our table was ready. Nice touch. Our servers were coordial and very attentive. The food left NOTHING to be desired. It was very dissapointing because I have always heard good things. The appetizer, a fried oyster witha special sauce, was cold. YUCK! The Lobster Bisque tasted nothing like lobster nor was it a bisque. It was an orange colored runny liquid that also was not even warm. It had a fried ball of something in it that had a little taste. I got Butternut Squash and ricotta ravioli and it was by far the best thing I had there. My husband had a pork risotto with caramalized apples and he enjoyed that. He also had a the fish which he said was terrible. I had a chicken they offered that was dry and not seasoned AT ALL. Their drinks we ordered from the bar were even terrible. They do not know how to make an Old Fashion. a free glass of wine came with the meal. It was obviously something no one liked and they were getting rid of becuase it was terrible and it was barely a 3-4 oz pour. All in all i will never waste my time again and NEVER recommend it. Way to over priced for what it is. I dont mind paying if something is worth it, this place IS NOT WORTH IT.

Art G.

Yelp
Love this place food always top notch. They never disappoint. The staff is alway friendly and on point.

Smith Properties S.

Yelp
Highly disappointed in the food. Nice little restaurant but the food is NOT worth the high price at all. Ordered two of the same cocktail and they taste completely different. Save your money.

Martha P.

Yelp
Great and Amazing service. Kind staff!! We were visiting from Texas, didn't have reservation and they were so kind to fit us in that evening. We are sure glad they did. The food was amazing!!! Omg delicious! Shared a few pictures of what we all had!!! Phenomenal!

Bart S.

Yelp
Food is ok but not good enough for the cost.can't beat the location but I don't recommend it

Angelice F.

Yelp
We recently celebrated my friends birthday at Del Porto and had a very nice experience. While we were a large group of 13, the food and beverages were served quickly and not one detail was missed! From the specialty cocktails to the appetizers, entrees and most importantly the desserts, e-v-e-r-y-t-h-I-n-g was delicious! I don't think there is one thing on the menu that does not bring a unique flavor to your tastebuds. This is a must experience restaurant on the north shore. I will definitely be going back!

Joanna S.

Yelp
I came here for lunch on a Saturday and was greeted right away and seated. The server brought water right away and offered disposable menus, and the tables were spaced apart. We ordered several of the specials and we also received fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The cocktails were very good, I had a lavender lemon martini. The steak was cooked perfectly and our fish was flavorful. We were too full for dessert but will definitely try it next time. The atmosphere was great, it was bright and the music was good, this is definitely one of my favorite new spots!

Ron C.

Yelp
Fantastic food (tuna crude!) and great service. I'll be here every time I come to Covington.

Nancy R.

Yelp
20 years of Del Porto! We've loved EVERY minute. We had the best grilled shrimp salad today and the pate is delicious. Del Porto never disappoints ! Many thanks Torre and David!

Whodat L.

Yelp
Overpriced food (you can get similar food at a better price in downtown New Orleans) and unprofessional environment. Owners appear very politically motivated online and in-store which is not good for business. If I had known, would have gone elsewhere to avoid the negatively.

K . M.

Yelp
I get suspect when a place has one star reviews and five star reviews and no middle ground. So we went anyway . My suspicion is confirmed in my thinking . This place is way over priced , small portions noisy and bad service. So I believe it's maybe friends of the owners that give five star reviews to counter the lesser reviews. Not worth giving it another shot.

charles o.

Yelp
We had dinner with another couple on a Saturday night and were all impressed by the food. The restaurant was packed and we had a long delay between before getting our entrees. The waitstaff were very attentive and worked to make-up for the slow kitchen. We started with the Antipasti and Chicken Liver Pate which were both very good. The Antipasti selection included lots of wonderful fresh salamis including a duck salami that was out of this world. Entrees were Caramelized Mushroom Salad, Artisan Spaghetti with Shrimp, Pesce del Giorno and Tomato Braised Lamb Shank. All of these were fantastic. Highly recommended.

Therese L.

Yelp
Beautiful place for a romantic evening. Great selection of wine and cocktails. Elevated, high quality Italian cuisine. We ordered a large plate of Antipasto, delicious Spinach Lasagna and their special of the evening Mahi-mahi. We were highly impressed by the delicate flavors of the dishes and had an amazing experience.

Joseph A.

Yelp
Up until recently had someone asked my what my favorite place on the Northshore was I would say Del Porto. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and very good and consistent cuisine. Unfortunately my past two experiences have been anything but good in the food category. Dishes that I used to swear by are now inedible. I'm hoping that maybe these past two times have simply been a matter of staffing problems or similar-this place used to be, in my opinion, the best Italian restaurant on both sides of the lake. If anyone reads these posts please find a fix. We love the restaurant too much to see it decline.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Exceeded all expectations. After seeing a few negative reviews (from recent) on yelp I went into dinner almost expecting to be disappointed. Not the case. The restaurant is beautiful, looks newly redone. Pleasant, knowledgeable staff (thank you Claire for the great suggestions for every course, you did not steer us wrong). And the food, oh my goodness the food. Everything was delicious, even the complementary bread and olive oil was exceptional. Looking forward to our next trip.

Natasha B.

Yelp
Quaint restaurant located in downtown Covington. We had a good time here. The food was good. They were accommodating and welcoming. I wanted a Ceaser salad which wasn't on the menu and they were able to make it. It was sapid. The vibe was chi chi. We enjoyed ourselves.

E F.

Yelp
Lovely little restaurant on Boston Street in the middle of downtown Covington. It is very popular among the locals. My husband and I visited on Friday afternoon for lunch during the busy time of the lunch hours and it was busy and loud. It was mostly women and a few parties. This is just part of lunch in Covington. If you can get past that, the food and service is very good. My husband and I had a lovely pate' appetizer that we shared and I had tuna crudo and he had a chicken parmesean panini. Everything was excellent. The tuna was fresh and everything was very well prepared. The wine list and cocktail were both excellent as was the service. We shared a leisurely lunch which we enjoyed in spite of the noise. I would recommend going toward the end of the lunch hours and there are fewer people or he crowds are leaving. The menu, drinks and service are worth it if you have the time!

Marc G.

Yelp
My dish had to have been microwaved - both the pasta and the shrimp were OVERCOOKED. Either way, it was terrible. Didn't bother sending back to be the only one sitting there not eating. I might have had I not already ruled out going back because the place is so damn noisy. Not the place to go if you want to converse with the rest of your table. Sad, because this used to be a favorite. Probably the most expensive let down in a while.

Dona P.

Yelp
This place is pretty redic !! Gourmet dining in the middle of Convington LA, which is pretty nice. Best HH deals on fresh fruit martinis and small bites that are flavor explosions. Was visiting from DC and came for HH, was so impressed that I came back and had a full out dinner! It was so good and worth every penny. There's an aura from the staff that they know the foods awesome and this service isn't necessarily the best, but it's a small enough place that's it's easy to deal with. Definitely check them out!

Monia F.

Yelp
Very good food, fresh, tasteful and innovating, my unique complain is the service. We wait one hour to have the appetizers and we was about to leave when the manager show up apologizing for the delay. Worth to try if you are not in the hurry.

John L. H.

Yelp
Located in historic downtown Covington, Del Porto is very good. This was an attractive, hip restaurant. We were seated immediately by a very friendly host and that quality service extended through our meal. Everyone who we encountered were professional and provided great service. We started with beef carpaccio. Never having eaten raw beef, I was skeptical. It was amazingly thin slices of raw beef with lettuce, sauce and crustini bread. Together it was a unique, but very tasty bite. Our next course was salad. Each of our salads had amazingly fresh greens and homemade dressing. They were also very good. For entrees we had the fish special and the steak. The steak was my entree and it was one of the best steaks I have had. The "painted hills" New York strip was cooked perfectly with crispy potatoes and was truly amazing. This is one of the best restaurants on the Northshore. I highly recommend it. One interesting thing I noticed is the bar scene. The bar was crowded with women who were just having drinks. This would probably be a great place to get a drink if you're a single guy.

Nick A.

Yelp
We actually got asked to leave one night after spending an insane amount of money in this pace, while we were enjoying coffee, dessert and after dinner drinks...the reason? They wanted to seat a new party.....we weren't just sitting there-we we're still ordering drinks. I couldn't believe it! On any other occasion I've been, the service is hit or miss-the food has not been good at all lately-under seasoned, small portions, dated menu. I don't think I'll be back any time soon

Kathryn W.

Yelp
Outrageous prices, limited menu, and so noisy, you have to scream at the person sitting next to you! I refuse to go there even as someone's guest.
