Such a cute spot with a great variety of pastries - Macaroons to cookies to croissants to quiche to soups! Everything we got was great. They also have a selection of local teas, jams, honey, and pre-packaged cookie trays. Prices were reasonable, service was great. Went on a Saturday at 10 am. No line, easy street parking. Will definitely we back!

The owner of the shop stopped by to visit our alley store and the next day dropped off a care package full of absolutely the most incredible, finely crafted bread I’ve ever seen in my life. They are to be congratulated on reaching this high quality exquisite baking program.

We went on Christmas Day for pastry and with four employees behind the counter nobody’s pay attention to us…they were to busy talking about their business to pay attention to us..and after a couples of minutes….waiting while watching the flies all over the pastries we decided to leave. Good job peoples you really care about costumers.Poor services and definitely for you costumers do not come first. Hope they get better…..

I recommend this place to people constantly. Some of the very best pączki I've had in Chicago. In a perfect world, I would start each day by eating one of their ham and cheese croissants. If pecan bars are your thing, those are another current favorite. Lots of other great options on Polish goods, both fresh and frozen. Beware that they're closed on Sundays though, so stock up on anything you might want the day before.

Delish and Fresh. Polish, French, and American bakery. Large variety! Wonderful selection of prepared and frozen Polish food. Can be busy in the morning. Coffee service adds time. Shop is small but bursting with fresh breakfast pastries, cookies, cakes, FRESH BREAD, and treats!

This bakery makes some very nice looking confections, well decorated and well priced. I went for the donuts and as always ordered the glaze. This is the most bakery donut I’ve ever had. It’s large and dense, honestly not the best donut. Very average. 6.8/10 Check out my other reviews of donuts from around the country.

Lemon bar was rubbery +Dry, dry, dry, and old stale couldn’t enjoy poor quality rum balls with Sprinkles? Take the French out of the macaron cookies cause hmmm smh total waist of $24.00

Delightful Pastries - my first Paczki experience and it truly was delightful! They remind me of Portuguese Malasadas or American Cream-Filled Donuts but I love how surprisingly light these Polish pastries are. We got to enjoy these treats on Fat Tuesday but I honestly wouldn’t mind having them year-round! (Oink!)

Stopped in on our way out of town. We were in Chicago for a long weekend and had to try this place. The people were the nicest, the store is inviting and bright with so many choices, and the pastries were BEYOND! I can't be more excited that I did stop in. Thank you for a wonderful end to our trip!

Went here becaue of all the great reviews. There are no prices on anything. I asked for a couple of prices and the older women behing the counter seemed annoyed. A younger male took over and gave me prices and all were very, very high compared to other bakeries. I settled on just trying a piece of pecan bar and it was almost 7 dollars. It was not very fresh or good. Don't get the hype.

This place has what they call "marzipan stollen" which is the best stollen I have ever had. Warmed with butter, it is Christmas breakfast "Nirvana". There are far too many great offerings in both sweet and savory form to describe. I will say a friend from Poland told me their beet soup was great, exactly like they have in Poland. To me, it One thing for sure, their fresh breads don't need anything except maybe a little butter or mayo and mustard in a sandwich. I'm saying their breads are some of the best I've ever had. I visited this bakery a couple of times in the past and it was not memorable at all. I decided to give this neighborhood bakery another shot. I went on Valentine's day it was not crowed, only myself and another customer were in line. I ordered 5 paczki's. All different flavors and every single one of them the dough was flavorless and a drop of filling. Depending on what filling you chose some were 5.29 each. Definitely not worth the price. There was no customer service, the person working behind the counter didn't greet me, she just said how many? When she packed up my order, I said thank you to her and she already moved on to the next customer even before I grabbed my box. Never again!

Just a great neighborhood Polish bakery. Great selection of both sweet and savory baked goods. The bread is wonderful and hearty.

Holy Smoly Fatman my sis and I had some tacos for lunch. She suggested some sweets after & found Delightful Pasteries on Yelp in Jefferson Park. This is 1 of 3 locations in Chicago. She ordered a number of thangs to be split w/each other starting a Pecan Square, Lemon Square, Florentines Florentinki, Pistachio Shortbread Cookies, & Mexican wedding cookies. We was in hog heaven, excellent pastries suuuueeee. I will definitely be back cause I luved Da pasteries. Nice selection and all were very good.

Oh, baby, this place is good! I had a sewing machine pickup not too far away, so I stopped in to get a cookie fix. That day, they also had one of the biggest cinnamon cake donuts I've ever seen, so I got that, too. The cookies held out through the weekend (they ARE fabulous - don't miss the pecan sandies and the similar pistachio cookies), but the donut was gone before I got home. Makes me wish they had an outpost closer to me; until then, this is an occasional treat, and, wow, the cookies are really a treat.

Outstanding little bakery. Stopped there during work in the AM and enjoyed it so much that me and my co-worker stopped there almost for 2 weeks straight. I tried almost everything and the sell a few additional items like eggs, jams, soups, elderberry syrup, it's definitely a must see. I had their donuts, Pączkies, croissants, and few other items. My co-worker loved their key lime pie and death by chocolate. Also took some home for the family wife really enjoyed their kolaczkies and death by chocolate, while kids loved the donuts and chocolate croissants. They offer several bread options like gluten free and diabetic friendly bread. Everyone we encounter were amazing. I just wish I lived closer so I could continue to support them. But if your in the area and haven't been you are really missing out on this gem.

Love, love, love this bakery! Some of the best stuff here are the bars: lemon bar, pecan bar, and my desert island (dessert island :) pick, the "Congo bar". Roasted macadamia nuts on a bittersweet chocolate layer, all on top of a buttery graham cracker crust, with some coconuts thrown in -- oh, my! Glad I don't live nearer to this bakery or I would weigh 300 lbs. already.

Delicious pastries as the name says they are delightful . I ordered a lemon bar pecan bar, Mexican cookie and some other things oh a pistachio short bread . My favorite were the Mexican wedding cookies . Clean, delicious next time I'll order savory pastries. They looked wonderful . High quality ingredients . Just kept picking a little of this and a little of that .

TL;DR Cute, local bakery with great pastries that aren't overly sweet, and a commitment to local ingredients! I'd say they lived up to their name. ===== Visited their stall in the Federal Plaza farmer's market this week and got a blueberry tart slice ($6). Really love their commitment to using natural and local ingredients, and everything they had on display looked amazing! Heck, if all the ingredients were organic, too, I'd probably not bat an eye at paying $6 for a normal-sized slice of tart (and honestly compared to other pie places/bakeries in Chicago that seems normal). Also they accept credit/debit cards! I'd bump them up to 4.5 just for that. The blueberry tart was not overly sweet, which I hugely appreciated. It was beautiful and full of succulent, fresh berries, and the pastry was buttery and crumbly. It did take a slight beating while in its paper bag prison, so please know that it looked more beautiful when I first bought it. Would definitely love to go back and try the other pastries - they had a good variety of sweet and savory goods, and apparently the paczki are famous. When I went I actually thought I ordered a cheese danish ($4) in addition to the tart slice, but when I got home I realized the stall-person hadn't heard me :'( Don't make my silly mistake and look inside the bag before you leave!

I've shopped here a few times now. Customer service from a woman (presumably owner) who answered phone was really good. In store customer service was a little awkward (not by same person who had answered phone). Would like for prices to be shown on items. I didn't see prices listed unless I overlooked them. I don't like having to ask pricing of multiple items. Maybe typical clientele of this location aren't worried about pricing and are okay paying set price unknowingly but I definitely would prefer knowing pricing before deciding. The brownie we purchased looked good but wasn't quite what we prefer. Perhaps we have a less refined palette. We also purchased a four pack of cupcakes. That was one item I didn't ask for pricing of and they ended up being over $3 each for a very small cupcake, so over $12 for the pack. I understand quality of ingredients have different cost but I didn't really feel there was a distinct enough taste difference for me to support the pricing. I definitely wish I had known pricing before. Also the online site shows some of the items with pricing I do believe, I had tried to check prior, but not all the items. Would be nice to have pricing list and photos for items available there prior to arriving. At the end of our order, we did receive a few tiny bonus croissants which was unexpected and kind. The store did seem quite busy with holiday orders so it does appear to be a local favorite by others. Very cute and clean aesthetic inside. The full cake varieties were not available in single slices, but they did look quite lovely and flavor combinations looked appealing.

It's not a cake!!! Muffin from Costco taste better and cheaper ! I was excited looking at bakery's displays plus I bought a birthday cake from this bakery because when I checked online for the reviews and they have a pretty good reviews but guys, this cake is not really a cake !!! The taste and the texture was terrible!! I won't buy from this location again ! ... actually, I bought several pastries but my main purpose was buying a birthday cake for my daughter's birthday ... I thought it's worth paying a $36+tax ( the small cake) but I was totally disappointed and felt bad and ashamed when we started slicing the cake and sharing it to our visitors... it was embarrassing when you see your visitors left the piece untouched..., they just picked a small piece and never ate them. Honestly, looking at it you won't have the appetite of eating them ... the looks outside was good but what's important is the taste , the texture. This was the most terrible cake I ever had for birthday... jewel-osco or Walmart or sams club or costco cakes are better and cheaper. I won't recommend buying a birthday cake from here ... not worth, expensive for the size... and honestly the taste was terrible... Waste of money!

Hired them to cater a tea themed baby shower - got their tea sandwiches and mini pastries plate - delicious! Everyone was raving about the sandwiches! Would use again, such polite staff!

Located in Jefferson Park since 1998 Delightful Pastries is a neighborhood bakery through-and-through, Dobra Bielinski and mother Stasia Hawryszczuk still serving many of the same Eastern Europeans today that made the storefront a success two decades ago. Built on local Ingredients and historic recipes, all housed inside a cozy space on Lawrence, guests entering Delightful Pastries during COVID-19 will find little changed from pre-pandemic, staff and patrons donning PPE noteworthy while at least three-dozen choices rest safely behind glass. Less sweet than the typical Bakery, low Sugar plus a lack of preservatives and stabilizers proudly promoted, it was on a nearby bench that seven items were tasted, Kolaczki with locally made Preserves or Cream Cheese precisely as good as Grandma's while Bielinski's Pecan Square outperforms the average Pie thanks to more Nuts and a lack of Corn Syrup. Offering plenty of Fruit based items, typical of Poland on Hungary, Apple Cake comes sliced into weighty wedges offering plenty of Cinnamon between Sponge layers while Paczki served year-round provide a reminder of Fat Tuesday without long lines but all the expected texture and flavor.

We came to Delightful Pastries to take home some paczkis, as maybe some other goodies. They really weren't that welcoming or helpful when we walked in and seemed a little impatient while we looked around, since there wasn't anything that caught my eye. I asked for paczkis but they had stated they sold out in the morning. So I settled with some other pastries that I weren't that great. I'll probably try coming again, maybe a lot earlier next time, so I can try their paczkis.

Is it Fat Tuesday? Time to run to Delightful Pastries! They do prefer that you order and pay ahead, and they definitely prioritize these people in the line. However, if you're someone like me that remembered last minute, IT'S NOT TOO LATE! They still take walk-ins. My husband and I got there right at 6:00am and waited in line for about 15 minutes. Even if the line looks like it's out the door, it's moving fast! They offer every flavor, and have TONS baking, so you're guaranteed to get the flavor you want! I got chocolate & custard, strawberry & whipped cream, and rose! My husband got apricot, plum, and whiskey chocolate. We both loved everything and would definitely come back next year... only this time I'll try my best to order ahead! :)

OMG - - BEST quiche ever and reasonably priced. I served slightly chilled w/a lovely green salad w/fruit and my guests gushed that the meal was delicious. I also purchased the carrot cake and key lime pie slices and another round of approval. I'm heading back for the cute cupcakes that will be part of a gift for my young nieces. Very friendly service. If you want a full came, the selection is broader if you order in advance. So happy I followed my neighbor's recommendation.

I got some pastries/breads from the Chicago farmers market in front of Federal Plaza. So don't know how the actual shop is like. But the staff there was a very nice person. I've got a plain croissant , a blueberry muffin and a cinnamon danish. They don't accept Card/Apple pay on the market location, cash only.

Updating review to say they are simply delicious! Went in today after not visiting for many months and left with a huge bag of delightful treats. The spinach and ricotta croissant was so good, it didn't have a chance to make it home! Looking forward to sharing the adorable Valentines Day cupcakes and cookies with my daughters later today. Thanks for making such wonderful food and keeping it in the healthy side!

If you haven't been here before, you're missing out. Their breads, their morning breakfast items (chocolate croissants, ham and cheese croissants, cheesesticks, and many more pastries) are so delicious. They use local and organic prices so be prepared to pay for the quality of the products.

I had never eaten a paczki. Delightful Pasteries has paczki's all year long. But, for Fat Tuesday, their red light specials come out. I purchased a rose one, 2 strawberry & cream and chocolate. Don't leave until you eat a paczki with strawberries and cream. Our sweet counter girl told us it would be incredible. It was. Every single bite. The rose one couldn't even compare. I'm so sad this paczki is not offered all the time. I'm sure it's too much trouble, but I would drive long distances to buy these special treats. Everyone was super friendly and I loved the Polish-Americans who came in. We went on Friday before Fat Tuesday and the line was small. They serve paczki's early where many pastry shops don't. Huge benefit.

I would love to see this place flourish because everything is homemade of quality ingredients. The person waiting on us was not particularly nice and messed up our order but that's not a dealbreaker. I was very disappointed in the paczki I ordered. The filling was uneven, absent from half the donut and not particularly good. The donut was doughy. I liked the cookies, perogies, soup and quiche I ordered. I would go back although it's not near me but not for paczki, which is what the place is known for. The merchandizing is lovely, though, and the place could not be cuter.

I have gone here before and decided to give it another try. Unfortunately what was wrong before has still stayed the same. The service was very rude. The young ladies that are behind the counter helping the customers have so much attitude. I am not all being demanding or rude myself and yet the service is not kind. I will not be going back, instead I will go up the road to Oak Mill Bakery that has better pastries and much kinder service.

I was somewhat underwhelmed with the pastries here. The Kolaczki pastries were okay, but the peppermint flavored meringue cookies for the holidays tasted like breath mints. The regular meringues were below average, and the sugar cookies with sprinkles were rather dry. In all fairness, 2 of the 3 sweets I had were not their specialty, so I will still consider coming back to try the paczkis in the future.

They are at the Division Street (near State Street) market from spring through fall. Although the baked goods are excellent, the attitude of their employees is the opposite. Today the woman was almost throwing me the bag of pastries, when my hands were full and I was paying. I finally told her to wait or to put the bag down. Their crude magic marker signage is atrocious: Don't "grab" anything could certainly be written with more tact. The way they almost demand tips with another crude sign. This is the last time I spend money at this place.

The pastries here were okay, but nothing special. I made a special trip out here just based on the delicious looking eclair pictures, but was disappointed. Their eclairs are made with buttercream frosting, not custard, in the middle - which makes for an impressive display but overly sweet and gummy texture. We got a couple paczkis, which were just 'good'. They gave us the wrong flavor (rose instead of raspberry), but still nothing special. If I'm spending the calories to eat a decadent paczki, I hope for something amazing! I also got an iced sugar cookie which was disappointing. The cookie part was really tender and delicious, but the decoration was done in royal icing which was so hard that it was tough to bite through, and was hard and crunchy. Nothing terrible, but not worth a special trip to visit.

The pastries at this bakery were underwhelming. Most of them lacked much flavoring and tasted plain. I was especially disappointed by the donuts as they almost tasted more savory than sweet and seemed to lack much sugar at all. That might make them healthier, but it certainly didn't make them pleasant to eat. I also tried some type of upside down apple pie that didn't taste like apple pie at all, and again had a savory flavor to it that just didn't go sit well with me. Their lemon bar didn't taste very lemony and had a strange texture to it. The best item was the fruit turnover, which was flaky with fresh tasting fruit inside. I did go here towards the end of the day so maybe the selection wasn't their best items or their baked goods had been sitting outside for too long, but overall not my favorite.

I'm so grateful to live so close to this place. My mother-in-law is polish, she used to make Pierogies for me. Since she got sick, she stopped cooking and baking. I went to this place to get some polish food and desserts for her. The owner was super friendly and really nice. When he found out my mother-in-law was sick, he gave me extra bakery item for free. I always leave this place with a smile on my face. Highly recommended!

Just bought my paczkis today!! Raspberry, chocolate, passion fruit, plum, German chocolate ... the filling was delicious, the dough was chewy, light and fluffy! So good, best I've ever had!!

Don't believe the hype!!! Tried the paczkis. Never again!!! As other reviews have stated, the paczkis here have almost NO filling. Literally less than a teaspoon in the fruit varieties ($2.50 each)!! The paczki they pass off as Custard are nothing more than vanilla Pudding. The strawberry with whipped cream ($4.00 each!!) might as well be just whipped cream. Cutting corners and overpriced product is what this bakery is good at!!! Skip the trip and check out the much better bakery down the street!!

These are absolutely the most luscious paczki! The texture of the dough and jam is perfect, they are so addictive. The soups are also amazing and the service is great!

No stars at all! Been coming here since you opened and have supported you since the beginning. Today I left without anything, your two Uber orders who walked in after us, depleted your croissant and donut supply. Sure they called in before hand but they showed up after us and your case was filled with what we were just about to order. In addition you were rude and unprofessional about it, THAT'S WHY I WALKED OUT!!

I'm now in love with this local bakery ! I just stopped everything I'm doing today to write a recommendation. Kicking myself for not discovering this place sooner. Croissants absolutely out of this world. Melts in your mouth! Everything completely made all natural, they even have a huge refrigerator with premade soups, pierogies, cakes and breads. Many of their items are vegan which is awesome! Will never buy my bread anywhere else. The lady that owns the place just gave spectacular five star service to myself and my daughter. So enthusiastic about her bakery and cooked items. going back tomorrow to pick up some more fresh croissants.

PACZKIS! I live around the corner and have walked by this place dozens of times. I've always spied the cookies in the displays and wondered how delicious they really were... Then I woke up on Fat Tuesday and remembered... it's PACZKI DAY! I got my 3 year old dressed while my dude and littlest dude were asleep and we walked on over. It wasn't too crazy at 7am which was awesome and we were able to score a strawberry, a strawberry cream, a custard, an apricot, a raspberry and a Jameson chocolate... and I blue teddy bear cookie for my little guy, per his request. The paczki were amazing. Fresh and delicious. I think my favorites were the apricot and the custard. Once the weather picks up (someday...), I suspect we'll walk over regularly to sample more of their deliciousness.

Every time I visit this bakery, my experience has been everything but Delightful. More specifically, the ladies behind the counter--who may be owners and/or managers--are extremely rude. So rude that I'm thinking to myself, "Is this really happening right now?"--EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Before you visit this place, review the 1-star reviews here and prepare yourself for the most horrible experience.

I was going to my friends celebration and wanted to pick a variety of pastries. came 15 min before closing time and the sales person would not let me in even though she was there and saw me. She did not even open door to talk to me... very rude... not coming back

My first time going here. I wanted to try a paczki for Fat Tuesday. I ended getting Nutella, raspberry, vanilla custard with chocolate frosting, fresh strawberries with whip cream and lemon. I ate the Nutella and strawberry one. They both were very delicious. The dough was very light and airy and surprisingly their fillings weren't overly sweet; it just had the right amount of sweetness. The price ranged $2-$3.25. The staff was very nice and efficient. The store is small and quaint. Free street Parking and they accept credit cards.

I'm in DP at least once a week -- whether to pick up a loaf of seeded sourdough, a ham and cheese croissant, or any of their top notch french pastry. There's something for everyone there -- they use such high quality ingredients in their cheesecakes and key lime pie that you can't go wrong. I love that the pastries are slightly less sweet than your typical bakery. It makes the other flavors really shine. Everyone is always so nice to my kids and me and it's a pleasure to visit.

Went at noon today and bought a variety of paczkis; every one was hard, dry and not well filled. The whipped cream in one paczki had split, and although the seller said it was filled with "fresh" strawberries, the berries were sitting in gloopy sticky red gel. We sampled 4 in the car and threw the whole lot away when we got home. Just awful!

So it was Fat Tuesday and I had heard good things about their paczkis, and decided to give them a try. for the most part they were decent, if unexceptional. What was exceptional was the price. A dozen paczki was $44.00 total, They were all at least $3.50 a piece. Let me assure you, they were not much of a good value, and I would recommend you get them elsewhere with a more sensible price point.

Delightful pastries isn't so delightful. When I worked there I would close by myself and if it didn't finish closing within 15 min after 6 I would still have to clean without pay. The owner also wanted me to sign a contract where if I left before 3 months I would Owe her $500, and when I didn't want to sign it and quit, she didn't want to give me my paycheck because I wouldn't sign that paper, which is illegal to not want to give me my checks. They overwork you for minimal pay, would highly not recommend applying here. Also on your first day of training you don't get paid at all.

You may have deduced from the other reviews, but the thing to get here is the paczki, which they make all year. I got a rose petal paczki and a cheese danish. The rose paczki was AWESOME! They get the bottom of the doughnut super crispy and the jelly in the middle has a nice solidness to it (it doesn't dribble or anything). The rose jelly was pretty tangy, almost like you'd expect from an unsweetened raspberry preserve. It worked really well! The cheese danish was fine. The cream cheese filling was a little softer than most danishes, probably because it was so fresh. I wouldn't hesitate to order them for a meeting, but I wouldn't use up my daily calories on one again (especially when I could have another paczki instead!). The also had a variety of nice-looking croissants, cookies, and even some pierogi in refrigerated containers in the back! Overall, this is definitely a great way to experience a paczki without the insanity and pre-orders that surround Paczki Day in Chicago.

Been here a handful of times and tried quite a few things, so I guess I'm ready to write that review. The first time I tried Delightful Pastries was years ago in the French Market at Ogilvie on my way back home to the 'burbs. I don't think they have a counter there anymore, but now since I live in the Portage Park area, it's nice to have a high quality bakery/patisserie in walking distance. Cookies, macarons, cupcakes, kolacky, croissants--I've tried different kinds over the past few years and really liked them. Funny enough, I prefer their ham/cheese croissant over the regular croissant--warmed up, it's almost like a croque monseiur, but baked into a croissant. Their bread looks so good too and one of these days I'll check out a couple loaves. Service is nice, and there are 2 gals that are super friendly and I always linger to chat a little bit more when they are behind the counter--they both seem very enthusiastic about the products.
