***UPDATE*** 2/25/26
Last night, at the gracious invitation of the owner, I returned to Deliz with my mom for a second visit. I truly appreciated the opportunity to come back, and I’m so glad we did.
We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived. The team prepared a beautifully curated four-course meal for us, including a bread course, Brussels sprouts salad, octopus, meatballs, wild mushroom risotto, squash agnolotti, steak, classic creamed spinach, wood fired mushrooms and their signature caviar tiramisu. For drinks, I enjoyed the N/A Baccio Baccio, and the La Roccia, and my mom had the Amoroso along with thoughtfully paired wines for each course.
From the very beginning, the experience was night-and-day from our prior visit—in the absolute best way. Our server, Doo, was exceptional. He struck the perfect balance of being attentive while still allowing us to relax and enjoy our evening. He took the time to learn our preferences and tailored both the menu and beverage selections accordingly, which made the entire experience feel personal and special.
The food was, once again, outstanding. The octopus was perfectly cooked—tender with beautiful flavor. The Brussels sprouts salad was a wonderful surprise and a standout in its own right. So many steakhouses prepare Brussels sprouts in a predictable way—often overly sweet or overly charred—but this preparation was light, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. The addition of hazelnuts instead of the more common almond added a thoughtful, elevated touch that truly made the dish memorable.
The true stars of the evening were the wild mushroom risotto, the squash agnolotti, and most notably, the steak. The risotto was just as flawless as I remembered—rich, balanced, and comforting. The agnolotti, however, completely won me over and may have been my personal favorite. I would happily order both again, though I’m already looking forward to another serving of the agnolotti.
And then, the steak. Quite simply, it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Last time I only tasted a bite from my husband’s plate, so having a full order this time (with my vegetarian-leaning mom kindly letting me enjoy most of it!) was a treat. The cut and quality were exceptional, and it was cooked and seasoned with absolute precision. I’m incredibly particular about temperature, sear, and seasoning—and this steak was perfection. I raved about it so enthusiastically that my mom, who typically identifies as vegetarian/flexitarian, had to try a bite herself—and she loved it. The sides were equally delicious, especially the mushrooms, which truly stood out.
During our main course, the owner, Steve, stopped by to sit with us and chat for a bit. It was a pleasure meeting him and learning more about the restaurant and his other projects. We also appreciated the opportunity to briefly revisit our prior experience and are sincerely grateful for the care and attention put into making this visit so exceptional.
Finally, the tiramisu. I’ll admit that tiramisu is not typically my dessert of choice due to the espresso element, but this interpretation was creative, playful, and absolutely delicious. The caviar-style chocolate topping was a clever and delightful upgrade from traditional cocoa powder, and the accompanying cookies and gelato—designed to emulate classic caviar accompaniments—were both charming and genuinely tasty. It’s always wonderful when a dessert is not only visually fun but also truly satisfying.
All in all, I’m so grateful we returned to Deliz. It was an outstanding evening from start to finish, and a special thank you again to Doo for making it feel so personalized and warm. I wholeheartedly recommend Deliz - not just because this experience was amazing - but because this business and owner cares about their customers - not all businesses and not all owners do. After this visit, I definitely feel like the prices align with the experience provided and I’m excited to have such an incredible steakhouse in the neighborhood—no trip to River North or downtown required.
