Where to Eat Excellent Pizza in Nashville

"The Belle Meade restaurant is still the only pizzeria in the state of Tennessee certified by Naples’s Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN), which means the restaurant adheres to strict rules about ingredients and traditional preparations to produce “real Neapolitan pizza,” resulting in tender, wood-fired, quick-cooked classics from basil-spotted margherita to spicy diavola. Of note: Porta Via serves half-price wine on Mondays and Wednesdays, and a brunch on Sundays featuring live piano music." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones, Eater Staff

The 9 Best New Restaurants In Nashville 2024

"Deluca in Belle Meade is Nashville's newest spot for sexy pasta night. Grab a seat at the stone bar where you can drag pieces of guanciale through eggy carbonara sauce, dig into a bowl of gnocchi in pistachio cream with melted burrata, and sip an espresso martini with a cocoa-dusted ladyfinger for good measure. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than you’ll find at other Italian restaurants around town, but the Roman dishes here are a welcome addition to the scene. " - ann walczak, carlo mantuano

The charcuterie board was a standout — a thoughtful selection of cured meats and incredible cheeses that hit all the right notes. The bread alone deserves a spotlight: fresh, warm, and just the right texture to scoop, dip, or savor on its own. But the real showstopper was the ravioli. I asked for a red sauce, but the chef had a vision — instead, he created a custom cream-based sauce on the spot, and I’m glad I trusted him. It was hands-down one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. Rich, balanced, and flavorful without being heavy. If they ever add a meat ravioli to the menu, I might have to move in next door. Service was attentive and friendly, and for the quality of the food, the prices are more than fair. One heads-up: they don’t accept cash, so bring a card. Great food, great people, great experience. I’ll definitely be back.

Service and atmosphere was nice! I’m never one to leave bad reviews, but unfortunately, our food was terrible. We went on Valentine’s day and was expecting some really great italian food based on the reviews. The Caesar salad tasted like mayonnaise… I wonder if they left out some key ingredients or just put way too much mayo on that particular salad. Also very pricy for what it was. I understand that organic, imported, homemade food is expensive, but why did it taste like mayonnaise? There was no anchovy flavor or pepper flavor at all. Also, the amatriciana (one of the four classic roman pastas) was bad. I was expecting fatty guanciale. Instead, my pasta was topped with what tasted like cheap, crispy bacon. The veal entree was weird. The flavor of the sauce was good, but the texture of the meat was unsettling in texture and taste. Overall, I would not go back nor recommend. To end on a positive note, I think there’s a lot of potential with this restaurant. The vibe was great, but unfortunately the food was simply bad.

We’ve been excited to try this restaurant. It was better than we had expected. The ambiance, service (thanks Stefano!) and food (and wine!) were incredible. We started with the eggplant appetizer, ravioli, bread, whole fish and veggies. See menu and food pics. The pistachio limoncello was delicious as well. It was a wonderful birthday celebration. Thank you! 🍷

This was our second visit to Deluca and both times were simply amazing! Tonight we had the prosciutto san daniele con burrata with cestino di pane, risotto ai porcini & tartufo, and spigola al sale fresh caught Italian sea bass, salt-baked and served table side. Angelo recommended two wine pairings, Impero Pinot Grigio Trebbiano with the Italian sea bass and Poggio le Volpi Roma DOC Rosso with the truffle risotto. Everything was fantastic! The service (thank you Jennifer and Brandon) and atmosphere are impeccable. Everything here is on point and they know how to make their guests feel special. I highly recommend the tiramisu espresso martini for a yummy liquid dessert. We also recommend from our other visit the carbonara and cotoletta milanese, both were impeccable. If you are craving authentic Italian food, exceptional service, and really good cocktails DeLuca is the place to go hands down. If however your idea of really good Italian food is Olive Garden or Maggianos this may not be your place, but I still recommend trying! I also noticed some complained about the dress code, it is not a big deal wear a nice collared shirt and leave the flip flops and hats at home. The atmosphere here is not stuffy at all but it is NICE, it's comfortable with just the right amount of sophistication. This will be our go to date night place, we love it!

While visiting from Seattle, I had the pleasure of dining at Deluca, and the experience was nothing short of outstanding. The restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere, balancing sophistication with comfort. However, what truly elevated my visit was the impeccable work of Chef Ricardo and the incredible service provided by Brooke. Chef Ricardo’s talent shone through every dish. Each plate was thoughtfully composed, bursting with fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors. From appetizers to dessert, the food was a perfect blend of creativity and refinement—truly a testament to his culinary expertise. Every bite felt like a masterpiece, making it one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in recent years. The service, led by Brooke, was equally impressive. She went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, offering warm hospitality and attentiveness without being intrusive. Whether it was her expert wine recommendations or her thoughtful attention to detail, Brooke made me feel genuinely welcomed and well-cared for throughout the meal. If you find yourself in the area, Deluca is an absolute must-visit. The combination of Chef Ricardo’s culinary artistry and Brooke’s exceptional service makes for an unforgettable dining experience. I look forward to returning the next time I’m in town!

Ate here for the first time tonight and was not disappointed! My friend and I went with the intention of trying a bunch of stuff and the owner and our server Brandon did a great job with their suggestions of dishes and in what order to eat them. We ended up splitting the carbonara, Amatriciana, and gnocchi crema di pistacchio. All three pasta dishes were perfectly cooked and so delicious. We also added the tiramisu and millefoglie for dessert and they were absolutely amazing as well. Service was perfect and the staff was so great answering all our questions. Plates and silverware were replaced for each course and absolutely spotless. The location was also wonderful with an abundance of free parking which is always appreciated in this city. I can’t wait to go back again and try some other options, as well as the pizza. It is a little pricey, but it’s fine dining and the quality of the food was absolutely worth it.

Came back to this spot again while in town for business and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were delicious and the wine paring with our dinner was perfect. Service was informed and professional. Food was amazing! Can’t wait to come back for pizza!

Yelp
I stopped in for dinner at the bar on a Friday night, and the place was buzzing--maybe a bit too much? The staff seemed stressed and possibly short-handed, which created a somewhat tense atmosphere. Despite the crowd, my food arrived surprisingly fast. The eggplant rollatini was flavorful, though it was mostly just cheese and sauce. The veal scallopine portion was disappointingly small for an entree--two tiny pieces. The manager, who waited on me, should have recommended I order a pasta or other side, but he was so rushed it didn't happen. As for the "focaccia" bread basket, it was just thin toasted slices that looked/tasted more like pita bread. If this place can streamline its service, it could be worth another visit--maybe on a quieter weeknight.

Yelp
Great, authentic Roman food. Both the owner and the chef are Romans and it shows. Great service. Very pleasant space layout.

Yelp
Located where Porta Via restaurant use to be, the vibe at DeLuca is more upscale and the prices are much higher, making this a place an option for special events like a birthday or an anniversary, but not the best place to go for just casual Italian dinning. The service is good and the deserts are all made in house.

Yelp
My family and I visited from Austin, TX. One of the friends recommended us to visit De Luca. We tried bruschetta and calamari for appetizer and spigola for dinner. Theirs was just like the ones we tried in Italy. We also enjoyed the tiramisu afterward. They had a very friendly staff, the bartender, Brandon was awesome...

Yelp
This is a legitimate Italian restaurant. We came here on the recommendation of friends from Italy and everything they said was true. From the Proscioutto appetizer that featured quality meat with barata cheese through our pastas with bolognese and carcio & Pepe, and then seafood fruiti featuring lightly friend calamari, shrimp and squash. Desert was a fried custard with strawberries that was like nothing I tried before. Angelo the owner came to our table and shared great conversation! Whoever rated this a "one" should probably stick to Dominos.

Yelp
My family and I came for a nice weekend dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the incredible service and even more amazing food. The location is super accessible and I couldn't believe somewhere with such a great ambience could be found in the neighborhood. We ordered the calamari and bruschetta for apps, which were impressive. And then for dinner we shared the spigola, Regina pizza, and the cotoletta. The chef, De Luca, moved from Italy recently and came to visit us at our table. The perfect spot for a celebratory dinner or date night.

Yelp
The worst experience! I wrote a review on the website and their reply was even rude!!!! The ambiance is nothing special! The food is subpar!!!!! Prosecco was flat! Took two times for them to even acknowledge that! Fish was cold! Pizza was doughy and zero flavor! Bolognese was mediocre. Even the tiramisu just ok. Over priced for the food, service and ambiance! Their reply to me was condescending as well. Poor customer service to say the least.

Yelp
We use to love Porta Via. Were one of the new customers and they were extremely rude. The food was boring and very over priced. I also dont mind if a restaurant has a dress code but they didnt advertise it and treated me (a veteran wearing patriotic casual) with total disrespect. We definitely wont return and miss our Porta Via!!

Yelp
Owner is from Rome, everything is traditional italian, from house made pasta all the way to the cannoli filling coming straight from Sicily. Even just walking into the restaurant the host was beyond friendly and every staff member that passed us was happy to welcome us into the restaurant. We started with the brick oven Regina pizza and it was absolutely unbelievable, everything tasted so fresh and was an amazing combination of ingredients. We then got the carbonara and the Pappardelle Bosciaola. While the pasta dishes aren't your traditional American large portions, they won't leave you hungry. At first glance it may seem like a small portion but after finishing the pasta you'll be more than satisfied. We ended our meal with the cannoli and it was hands down the best cannoli I've ever had. Honestly was the best Italian i've ever had. This is a true gem of Nashville and we will definitely be coming back as soon as possible!
