Flaky croissants, pains suisses, cookies, and pastries.

"Des Croissants Paris is a traditional French bakery that smells like a tub of butter. Maybe that's not your first choice when picking out an air freshener, but inside a boulangerie, it's a good sign. You'll only find French staples at this minimalist Culver City cafe, like arms-length baguettes, glossy croissants, and kouign-amann that's worth a visit alone. The layers of pastry peel apart like tissue paper, and the sugar crust shatters like candy but is still gooey inside." - brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore, cathy park

"If you’ve purchased French pastry at one of Southern California’s farmers markets over the last few years, it was likely from Des Croissants Paris. Parisian-born chef Samuel Manar opened his Culver City storefront in 2023 where locals can find his meticulously baked croissants, paniers, and baguettes. While the bakery continues to serve at farmers markets around town, this Culver City bakery is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday; be sure to come early to get the best selections." - Rebecca Roland

"The peak of Des Croissant Paris’ signature pastry looks like the ridge of Mount Baldy, with rounded off ends and a pale blonde color that might make you think it could have used another minute in the oven. But while the butter croissant at this minimalist Culver City cafe isn’t the most to look at, its soft, crackly layers are a delight to tear apart, and even more delightful to eat. We love its malty sweetness, nice chew, and the fact that it sheds off just enough flakes to let someone know you recently ate a croissant. Afterward, expect your lips to glisten like you just applied a coat of lip gloss." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

"Prior to February, Parisian-born pastry chef Samuel Manar operated mostly out of SoCal farmers’ markets, building a following for his croissants, paniers, and baguettes. It’s still possible to secure goods this route or by heading to his brick-and-mortar in Culver City." - Mona Holmes

"Des Croissants Paris is a traditional French bakery that smells like a tub of butter. Maybe that's not your first choice when picking out an air freshener, but inside a boulangerie, it's a good sign. You'll only find French staples at this minimalist Culver City cafe, like arms-length baguettes, glossy croissants that are buttery enough to glisten your fingers, and perhaps the best kouign-amann in LA. The layers of pastry peel apart like tissue paper, and the sugar crust shatters like candy but is still gooey inside. We got a C-minus in high school chemistry so we don’t know how that’s scientifically possible, but we can say this exquisite pastry alone is worth the visit." - Sylvio Martins
