Detroit Food Truck Owner Severely Burned in Propane Tank Explosion | Eater Detroit

"The owner was severely injured when a propane tank ignited as he tried to light the truck’s fryers while preparing for a west riverfront cigar festival with his children; the kids escaped, and he used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames before being taken to the hospital. He is receiving treatment for second-degree burns to his hands, face, and side, and the mobile restaurant is currently out of commission. The family has launched a GoFundMe to help rebuild the truck while he recuperates, with nearly $1,300 raised toward an $8,000 goal, and the local food truck community and fans have been contributing as the family focuses on recovery and getting back on the street." - Brenna Houck

Got their amazingly delicious catfish basket that came with perfect coleslaw, 2 hush puppies, and fries. Pic is after 1/2 way thru the meal. The breading & flavoring of the catfish is soooo good! Thank you for coming to Food Truck Fridays in Pinckney! I’ll be on the lookout for you - I’m already planning my next meal from you!

Detroit Original Seafood Truck was at our event yesterday and it was fantastic food! I ordered double lobster and crab bites with a side of chicken strips- It was out of this world good!! The really exceptional part of this is the panko, the light breading. Not only is it delish, it must be non gmo because later on I had no issues with belly swelling. Love Love ❤️ Love this food.

While I can’t review the food, I can review the service. I have a gluten allergy, and before finalizing a sale on orange roughy, the young lady called around to see if I could eat the fish. Luckily I had mentioned my allergy. Turns out I couldn’t, as it wasn’t just cornmeal in the mix. I’m eternally grateful for her care and concern for my wellbeing. I highly suggest patronizing this food truck. They really care.

Google
It was my first try! I heard all about the seafood but not enough funds for that on this day, so I tried the chicken tenders & fries. It came with some delicious coleslaw! Just sweet enough! 😋 the tenders had the right amount of spice. YUMmy! The fries were even tasty. It also came with a couple of hushpuppies that were quite flavorful! Their service was fast, fresh & hot!I can't wait to try their seafood! I will report back! Until then, go check these brothers out!

The truck was down in the alley, and service was super slow. I ordered a catfish basket, and I took 2 bites of it, and it was uncooked and slimy. The cashier lady was understanding; however, the cooks were young and lacked maturity when I asked for a different type of fish. I waited 30 minutes to get my original basket. This is a serious issue as this could have been food poisoning. The fried okra lacked flavor. The fried green tomatoes were excellent and tasy, but were only given 4 for the price. My friend and I had to ask for napkins and silverware, in which an attitude was given in turn.

Google
tried them for the first time last weekend with my husband and omg i was pleasantly surprised. i was undecided on what to get and just ordered the shrimp. i wish i would’ve ordered the crab bites cause i just know they would’ve been amazing. the shrimp were truly jumbo no shell so you could eat the whole shrimp with out the mess. fries came with the and they were hand cut. best cut fries i’ve ever had and also came with 2 hush puppies and coleslaw. i usually toss my coleslaw cause it’s never good but this coleslaw was delicious. i will definitely be back. also service was great and the wait was exactly as quoted.

Yelp
I bought a couple of Groupons to use to try out this food truck. The service and food was good. My favorite was the fried green tomatoes, cod filet. I like the hand cut fries as well. I would suggest you check out their website or call first before going incase they are closed.

Yelp
If you're looking for really good fried fish and seafood, Detroit Original Seafood Truck is your spot. I tried fresh, flaky crispy cod, jumbo shrimp, the best hush puppies, lightly battered fried green tomatoes, and crispy French fries. Everything was delicious, not greasy, generous portions, friendly staff! I've been longing for fries fish that isn't soggy and this spot has it!

Yelp
The Food is great! Love the Fried Catfish cooked so well. Great Customer Service. The Lemonade is so refreshing I get mines mixed with Mango and Raspberry.

Yelp
Fried Lobster was tough. I'm not exactly sure what the oil was that I was given with it but, butter and lemon would have made it go down better. I also had fried green tomatoes and no Ranch or anything else to accompany them. Lemonade was mostly sugar. Too MANY corners were cut AND IT SHOWS. Wasn't given utensils either. They have a great thing I hope they work harder to keep it going.

Yelp
I tried them yesterday for the first time at Robert Valade Park. I had the fried crab legs and it was delicious. The basket came with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. I also liked the food was made to order, hot and very tasty. My friend had the crab legs and catfish. The catfish was well seasoned too. I will definitely support them next time is see the truck.

Yelp
The truck was scheduled to show up for an event weeks in advance and never showed leaving a lot of people hung out to dry. Ruined the event. Not even a phone call. Ruined the organizer's reputation.

Yelp
I have been looking forward to trying your fish since seeing you on Fox 2 morning show. Visted River Days yesterday just to get fish. Very disappointing. Fish was greasy and salty, fries were greasy and tasteless, no coleslaw. The only thing I enjoyed were the hush puppies. While I waited for my order, I observed the young man on the truck coming out and shaking hands with people then returning to the truck. He had on gloves but after shaking hands with several people don't know how effective they were. I may try you again. Maybe this was an off day because of the event. Success should not diminish the quality of your food...it should make it better! Please take this feedback in the spirit it was meant...feedback is golden. It's the people who don't say anything. They don't come back and they complain to ten other people!

Yelp
I ordered a lobster roll and lobster bisque. The roll was 37 and the soup was 10. If the lobster roll was only 15 I would maybe get it again. The soup was thick creamy and delicious. They let me sample the lobster bites and they were good but tasted like something you could get at Sam's Club.

Yelp
Greasy greasy greasy cod thick and dry no coleslaw hush puppies ugh the cook keep coming out of the truck talking and shaking people hand with the same glove he cooked in didn't brother to change gloves wash hand it was not sanitary place they didn't have number for orders the gurls were rude it took almost 30 minutes for an order never again

Yelp
Everything was excellent! I tried them for first time at the Royal Oak Farmer's Market.
