Those hot dogs were delicious especially the Icelandic hot dog since the hot dog links taste premium. The Maxwell Street Polish was also delicious. The fries were also delicious and had the right amount of salt and crispiness. There are kiosks to order food from and the store doesn't accept cash payments. Overall, I would go there again to try more stuff on the menu such as a cheeseburger, and it's a good option for people wanting to crave a quick meal.

This is one of those places where you have to try it for yourself to believe how good they are. Everything was really good. I created my own beef polish and to me it was perfect, but the surprise star of the show was the onion rings. Even the house made sauces are exceptional. It’s worth the price. Sometimes simple is good! I had the Chicago Dog, and it had a nice snap to it but my friend had the veggie burger and he said it wasn’t that great. On the other hand, the fries were excellent.

so incredibly good!!! idk what is it about their relish but i loved it. they have vegetarian options which also tasted amazing. tater tots were crunchiness perfection! my friend ordered a milkshake that was quite big, they unfortunately do not have dairy free options. the vibe is quite informal, crew spoke spanish too which was great! they also have a drink station with pink lemonade <3

Got a Double Dog with everything. Would have been alright except the bun was the most cake-like thing you've ever seen in your life. Didn't hold up to any of the toppings, and really ruined the whole thing with how sweet and lumpy it was. Maybe just not my style, but I was plenty happy with other hot dog places that gave a crap about the entire dog including bun.

Of course we looked up which place had the best Chicago dogs around. Since we had no basis for comparison, we decided to give Devil Dawhs a try because it was close to hotel. I ordered the Big Chicago Dog while the Mrs got the Coney dog which had chili. Let me tell you….THAT WAS SOME DELICIOUS FOOD. Dogs were nice and ‘snappy’ and the basket of onion rings along with devil sauce were some Of the best we’ve had. Get ya some people!!!

There's a good variety but not as many dog styles as some others. But they do have burgers, chicken and sides which some other places don't. The inside was typical for area hot dog restaurants. There's not a lot of seating but people don't stay too long. Ordering was easy at the front with computers but someone always greets you as you walk in. A great experience, we would go back!

Great spot in State Street. Bike parking out front. Chicago Dog is great even without a poppyseed bun. The sliders are the real magic here wow!! Cool music inside. Quick service. Friendly. The Elvis Slider is legit!!! The Devil Dawg is natural casing. I think Red Hot Chicago dogs. Super nice.

Opening thoughts? Eclectic artwork and lively! Devil Dawgs was the first Chicago dog on our food crawl. Chicago dogs were a 6.5/10: these were the first Chicago dogs I've had, so I had no comparison. Overall good, but room for improvement! I think the biggest thing for me was the moistness. It was bordering soggy :( Fries were a 8/10: this may be a hot take but their fries were dry (if you've had in n out, their fries are the best comparison) and very lightly salted... just how I like it! Not the most crispy, but I didn't mind. Joe's tea was a 8/10: nice and sweet your average bottle of Arnold palmer To sum it all up, devil dawgs is a good start, but I personally think there are better Chicago dogs around town. They say hindsight is 20/20, so I think I made a mistake...I kinda wish I tried their chicken sandwich according to these yelp reviews! Who would've thought?! Ordering a chicky sando at the hot dog shop? Will need to come back and investigate at a later date!

While visiting from out of town, my hubby and I decided to try Chicago hot dogs on a whim. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff was kind and our food was served promptly. We ordered the Big Chicago Dawg, Its Not A Corn Dawg, Chicken tenders, and Bucket O Fries, all of which were delicious. We had a great experience and would definitely return in the future.

This time, I tried the peanut butter banana milkshake, and it was really good as well! Devil Dawgs has certainly become one of our go-to spots whenever we're craving a good milkshake.

This was our first meal after landing in Chicago. Got the Chicago and the Elvis slider. loved the neon relish and meaty dawg. The Elvis slider was also very good. The grease and richness from the peanut butter helped balance the healthy veggies from the dawg. Boo Boo was clutching her pearls because we noticed it was a cashless establishment. I mentioned places go cashless to avoid being robbed.

First thing to do in Chicago... pizza? No. A Chicago dog! This was perfect with the cheese curds which I paired with a really good ranch dressing. Super small place so plan on eating on the go or waiting for a table to clear out. The electronic kiosk ordering is annoying so if the counter is open, it's faster to order there.

Note: credit card/cashless only and no public restroom Food Quality: 5/5 My Big Chicago Dawg was snappy like I was hoping for. The green relish is something to see. Also, the onion rings were super fresh and tasted like they hand battered them which is a huge plus in my book. The Devil Sauce, which was a spicy mayo, was not too spicy. I'd definitely eat everything again. Atmosphere: 3/5 The seating is limited in this narrow resturant. The plexiglass near the ordering area gave me COVID flashbacks. I totally walked right past the kiosk near the front of the resturant, otherwise I would have ordered there. Service: 4/5 The guy that took my order was fine and my food was prepared quickly. Nothing over the top but I can't complain. Value: 4/5 $16.20 for a hot dog and onion rings isn't cheap but it felt relatively fair for the quality of the dog. Overall: 4/5 If you need a quick lunch, this is a good option. I'd definitely get it again if in the area.

I order a big Chicago dog and it was decent. It was a bit too salty but I enjoyed the toppings. The place was a little crowded and may explain why the floor was dirty with food etc. For a 1st timer, I guess it was ok... I had nothing to compare it to. Next time, I'll prefer to visit another hot dog joint.

I was looking forward to trying Devil Dawgs for their Chicago hot dog and Maxwell Street Polish. This place was such a disappointment. The day before, I had a polish and hot dog from the hotdog stand at Grant Park and the day before that I had a hot dog and polish from Wrigley Field (yes, it's been years since I've been to Chicago and I missed the hot dogs and polish). The food at the hot dog stand and Wrigley Field made Devil Dawgs taste like crap. The polish was extremely tough, the hot dog reminded me of Oscar Meyer, I threw it away, and they didn't even use the poppy seed buns. The restaurant is cashless and uses only kiosks to order. I had no idea, so I stood at the counter for a couple of minutes waiting to be helped, until I finally noticed the sign on printer paper. Not everyone is local and knows to look for the kiosk.

Reliable! You can't go wrong. I constantly crave Chicago dogs. This one isn't massive. Their polish was cool too. Tots are solid too. No frills, nothing extravagent, but all good stuff

5/5 for the amazing hotdog joint! We ordered the Chicago Dog and bag o fries with cheese sauce. The fries were insanely good! The dog was delicious. We really enjoyed the food! You order at the counter and they call your number. Very casual spot for some yummy fast food! Bonus: they were playing awesome EDM/techno music in there. It felt like a party! We were loving it.

Definitely one of our go to late night meals. I love that all them can come vegetarian, the its not a corn dog is my absolute fave. The veggie burger with cheese is also so so good. My husband loves the icelandic and its not a corn dog as well as their spicy chicken sandwich. The fries and onion rings are ok, but the cheese curds and tots are delicious. If you're feeling like a sweet treat, their milkshakes are huge and delicious, you really can't go wrong with any of them. Go check out for your next late night meal!

Was told to come here for a Chicago hot dog experience. Was really good! I just ended up liking the milkshake more than the hotdog. Don't get me wrong. I finished it because I love sauerkraut, but I just felt like it was just a good hotdog. Nothing spectacular. The milkshake on the other hand was phenomenal, caramel, with chunks of blended up pretzel, it was super delicious. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, and there was a handful of tables to sit at to enjoy your food. I would specifically come back for the milkshake, and then the hotdog would be an afterthought. No shade tho. Still a solid place for a meal.

The hot dog was good. I enjoyed the taco dog because of the crunchy tortilla chips on top and the salsa like sauce. The Chicago style hot dog had a lot of pickles and was also good but one has to be better than the other. Just my opinion. My girl loved the Chicago style since she really love pickles

Terrific for what it is -- fast, yummy and a clean establishment. Appreciated the creative dogs--between us, we tried three and they were all delicious. Tots and sauce were great too. Loved that they offered Joe's Tea also. Nice staff as well.

Hotdogs were ok. Nothing to fall apart over. But they where packed with people, maybe it's a drunk place where u go after a few drinks

This was a hang loose place. We had 2 Chicago dogs, a slider, and some fries. 3 stars is generous. The fries were soggy to point of limp, the slider and dogs were VERY messy. Maybe that is part of the "charm" of eating the food. The slider was very greasy as well.

Chicago, IL - our conference didn't feed us lunch so we needed to find something quick and easy. The vegan Chicago dog was perfect! I was surprised at how meaty it seemed. I added a pumpkin shake (definitely not vegan) with whip cream and sprinkles in top. Soooo tasty! It's a limited time flavor so grab one now. Service counter was quick and efficient. There's not a lot of seating available. The only disconcerting thing was the brilliant green of the relish. Somehow that just did not seem natural to me. Tasted great though so no complaints here. Would definitely return when next in town. In fact, when I showed my handsome husband a photo of my Chicago dog he insisted that next time we are in town we stop here straight away!

Kind of a dive-y spot, but fast service and a pretty good vegan dawg! If I had to guess I think they use Field Roast. Toppings for the Chicago dawg were fresh and abundant. I only give them four stars because the fries/tots are cooked in beef or something. I appreciate that the staff member let me know, but it was a disappointment!

These devilish dawgs will have you on your hands and knees begging for more, daddy! My partner and I went all out with the taco dawg, bacon dawg, Chicago dawg, and chili cheese dawg. They did forget our chicken sandwich, but who cares? It's all about the hot dawgs here anyway! The taco dawg was giving everything, but honestly, they were all a spicy 10/10! Obsessed with the unique vibe--you can't get this ambiance at any chain, babes! And the staff? Absolutely adorable. Will definitely be back for more!

After trying several other Chicago dog spots, I have to admit devil dawgs has shown to be better than some others. Service was quick and it was around $5 or so. The bun itself was not soggy which is quite important! Stuffed with all its toppings, the peppers had a nice bite! I definitely recommend and will come back to try some of their other offerings!

Good hot dogs! I ordered the "not a corn dog" and my friend ordered the veggie dog. Super flavorful hot dogs, and a wide variety of unique flavor combos. Tasty.

I really liked the different concoctions they had here with the hot dogs. Unfortunately, some ingredients worked and some were mediocre. The menu has a variety of items, such as your standard hot dogs, burgers, fried chicken, shakes, tater tots, French fries, etc. The bag of onion rings with sauce were tasty. The bulldawg had interesting ingredients when reading the menu but it works. It had a lot of flavor and it was a great size. I usually don't eat too many deep fried items but this one mixed with the chili, cheese, coleslaw, grilled onions, and bbq sauce was amazing. I tried other limited items and some were okay and not great. Good service. Ample seating. Prices were standard for the area.

What's one of the things you do when you come to Chicago? You seek the best Chicago dog, of course! This is a long way around the bun (haha) but Devil Dawgs was the BEST dog we had this weekend! We tried one from an unnamed location, they were out of pickles, so - kinda' doesn't count. We tried another (from another unnamed location - after we ate here, in order to have something to compare this to) and it fell short. Devild Dawgs knows how to make a Chicago Dog right(eously!) The perfect amount of crisp picklem peppery heat, and celery salt - all that yummy goodness that makes a dog a la Chicago - enrobed in a poppy seed bun! Yes, PLEASE!!!! My husband and I (who are not Chicagoans) tried to make these at home, and they are no where near as good as Devil Dawgs! Hands down the best CD I've ever had!!! (and I've tried a lot!)

My friend and I opted for here because it was the shortest line of the late night food options and relatively close to Lollapalooza. We waited around 20 minutes in line and waited only for a few minutes for our food to be ready. We got: Polish dog (3/5) -- the skin on this was super thick and hard to bite through, the flavor of the hot dog didn't do much for me...the peppers and onions carried the dish Chicago dog (3/5) -- it was kind of soggy, cold, and a little too acidic for my liking...the sport peppers were also very potent Bag o' fries (2/5) -- soggy, limp fries that didn't have any seasoning Only when we were waiting for our order did I read that this place is more renowned for its burgers and immediately regretted my decision. Still, I'm not sure how much better the burgers are than their hot dogs and fries.

Ordering was easy and service was quick. Seating area is small with the menu located at the far end of the building. We had a group of 13 and we were all able to find seats to enjoy our meal. 10/10 would try again

My first visit to this place to try my first ever Chicago Hot Dog. The place is a grimy twin of the SNL Cheeseburger, Cheeseburger sketch with Jon Belushi. The food was wonderful. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken. Ordering was done on a kiosk that did not precisely match the menu items listed on the wall. Communication was a bit of an issue but the staff were really quite nice and generous. I'd go back.

Went here after Lollapalooza for a late night eat as I wanted my husband to try a Chicago dog before we left the city. I thought all the things would make it weird but it was actually quite good! I liked all the pickles. The bag of fries with awesome sauce were so good as well. The line was long but once you put your order in, the food is ready super fast. They were playing the Olympics which was fun to watch too.

I was exploring the city one night and decided to stop into Devil Dawgs for a quick bite. While there, I ordered a Chicago dog with a cherry wine and it was pretty decent. The hot dog was pretty simply, almost tasted like it was boiled. What really made the hot dog is the toppings. It was LOADED! A dill pickle, tomato, relish, and a few other things. The dog was pretty affordable and definitely worth a try if you're in the area. The perfect snack to eat on the go.

Great place for Chicago-style hotdogs, burgers, good home style fries and several other items, including a variety of shakes. Around the corner from. Columbia College, they have a few tables in their narrow space and they're open til 10 most nights. They can be pricey ($7+ for a shake?) but good for fast food.

Had to Try the Chicago Dog, and what better place to try it then Devil Dawgs. Strawberry Milkshake : 5/5. Holly smokes sooo good! Best milkshake I had in my life. Big Chicago Dog : 5/5. Meat was juicy and the Chicago dog was not as bag as I thought it be it was very delicious. I just thought the Tomtato and large pickles / pepper combo was a bit odd but it works ! Maxwell Polish : 3/5 Everything was still good, but it was missing something for me. I think the carmalize onions was very sweet so need a freshness quality to it, like pickle or Totmao. O" Tot - 5/5 Something so simple can be so good. Crispy but not greasy with perfect cheesy dipping sauce ! I'd highly recommend coming here. It gets pretty busy though :)

I don't like soggy Hot Dogs so it was nice that both Hot Dogs we got had some crunch to it, although a different type of crunch. Chicago dog: 3/5 seemed like a normal sausage. Pickle added a nice crunch. Can't beat LA Hot Dogs. Better than a Costco Hot Dog though! Icelandic dawg: 5/5 One of the few Hot Dogs I have ever liked was from Iceland. So when I saw this on the menu I had to. I liked the sausage a lot. Onion was crispy and added good texture. The sauce was bomb too. Would come back just for this. Fries: 2/5 soggy and lightly salted.

Considering we later tried Portillos, I'd say I prefer Devil Dawg's Chicago dog more! Food: - Jumbo Chicago Dog: This cost a little more and honestly it wasnt that big of a hot dog. Which is a shame! I'm probably comparing it too much to Costco hot dogs. Anyway, I thought this Chicago dog was quite more flavorful, loved the moist bun, and their pickle is 2x more crunchier than Portillos. I'm a bit more of a fan of their flavor contrasts and overall quality is fresher. Yum! - Icelandic Dog: This was chosen as a recommendation from a friend and I'm kind of meh about the dog. Mainly because the flavors were not distinctly unique nor did it stand out in any way. I'm a fan of crispy shallots--which were plenty--but the remoulade was a bit lacking. Not a bad dog, but not one I'd try again for the sheer choice of variety. Next! - Onion Rings: Alright so no one recommended this, and I dont blame anyone but us for trying them. They were not very crunchy, not very unique, and was NOT a highlight. Very standard. Honestly, not memorable. Should have tried some other options. Pros: - Delicious and unique options. A solid 4 star choice! - Quick service after ordering. - Fun and casual interior. Definitely gives a "part of the neighborhood" vibe. Cons: - Price is a little higher than I'd like. - Not a fan of some of the food options. - Seating is limited. Not a horrible selection but it's far from ample. Thanks Devil Dawg! I mean dont get me wrong, maybe I'm just biased being from new york but I wanted to try a chicago style hot dog for the first time and maybe i made a mistake of getting a devil dawg as my first experience. The hot dog was just too salty and sour for me and the choice of toppings really threw me off. I know this is is conflicting with what most people say but I think I'm just not a fan of chicago dogs in general. Otherwise, the service was very quick, you can either order from the kiosk or the counter, and you can sit down and eat afterwards. Seems pretty crowded during lunch hours and there is limited seating indoors.

Better than Portillo's in terms of flavor, variety, and authenticity. Prices are quite high though. Worth every bite and a solid option for a taste of Chicago if Lou Malnati's next door is backed up.

This was the first place I went after landing in Chicago (also my first time in Chicago!). From the outside, it looks super sketchy. It's a pretty small space inside, with just a couple of tables and a window to order. Service was fast and friendly, and I'd never seen so many options for hot dogs before. I ended up going with the Chicago dog and was so impressed with it! I was a little wary of the relish since it was neon green, but everything tasted so good. I also got some fries and they were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I tried Portillo's later on in my trip and I think I prefer Devil Dawgs!

Went to Chicago for the first time. Figured for food we'd try here since it had some kid friendly options for our son. I got the Chicago hotdog, and it was pretty good. I had to take the peppers off because they kept sliding off. My fiance tried the bulldawg. It's got a kick to it, but it tastes really good. This place can get pretty busy, but the service is quick. If you're in Chicago and want to try good hotdogs I definitely would recommend coming here.

Both the Chicago Dog and It's Not A Corn Dawg were loaded with toppings and offered great value for the price. They definitely satisfied my Chicago dog cravings. The flavors were authentic and the portions generous. I will certainly come again if given the chance to revisit Chicago. The shop is a bit small and better to-go or for small groups.
