NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"Another week, another slice shop with lofty goals. Replacing an 80-year-old deli on Greenpoint’s Diamond Street, Diamond Slice does NY slices with toppings like a buffalo chicken and caesar salad. Like Chrissy’s nearby, Diamond started as a pop-up (called After Hours). Unlike Chrissy’s though, they have plenty of space inside for seating, and do sell pizza by the slice (starting at $3.75). They even have a sign that says "Slices Are Forever" in the window." - will hartman, bryan kim

Diamond Slice - Review - Greenpoint - New York - The Infatuation

"Diamond Slice got its start as After Hours Pizzeria, a pop-up selling whole pies out of a coffee shop in Clinton Hill. At their brick-and-mortar corner spot in Greenpoint, they're taking a more slice-centric approach, and no slice is over $5. Expect all the classics, plus a few that might ruffle the feathers of a New York pizza purist—like the buffalo chicken, which is in fact pretty delicious, with swirls of buffalo sauce and house ranch. photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore Pause Unmute The other slices are a little under-sauced—a bummer if you appreciate tomato sauce; a blessing if you want to be able to walk and eat and not worry about bright orange oil all over your shirt. Keep Diamond in mind for a solid and affordable slice in the neighborhood, especially if you don’t want to wait for a whole pie at nearby Chrissy’s. They also have a few red booths inside, and a tiny sink to the right of the counter where you can wash any pizza char off your hands. Food Rundown Plain The crust here is paper thin—as thin as the pizza in New Haven, or Staten Island—and it never droops. A slice is light, airy, and $3.75. A proper snack. Caesar The dressing on this caesar salad-topped pizza is a little thin, but we appreciate the fishy flavor and the rounds of red onion on top. Bring gum. Buffalo Chicken Try the buffalo chicken. The swirls of neon orange buffalo sauce and creamy ranch are attention-grabbing, but the golden brown breaded chicken and the sliced scallions really make this slice. It’s Domino’s-adjacent—if Domino’s made housemade ranch." - Willa Moore

New NYC Restaurant Openings in New York City, February 2025 | Eater NY

"A Brooklyn pizza chef transitioned a pop-up into a full restaurant making pies and slices — menu highlights include Caesar-salad, burrata-and-pepperoni, spinach-and-ricotta, and Buffalo chicken pies — alongside focaccia sandwiches and salads, with sit-down seating available under the owner-chef Peter Chrostowski's direction." - Emma Orlow

Brooklyn Pizza Restaurant Diamond Slice Will Open in Greenpoint | Eater NY

"A Brooklyn pizza pop-up-turned-restaurant aiming to open in February at 70 Diamond Street, near Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint (just a block away from Chrissy’s Pizza). Owner and chef Peter Chrostowski — a Greenpoint native who has been running a Clinton Hill cafe since 2019 — took his pizza inspiration from the pizzerias he frequented as a kid in Brooklyn. The offering will include pies and slices such as Caesar salad, burrata and pepperoni, spinach and ricotta, and Buffalo chicken; there will also be focaccia sandwiches and salads, with beer and wine to be added later. The compact 18-seat space will feature hardwood and red vinyl banquets with plans to add more seating. Chrostowski started making pizza during the pandemic and began selling pies out of his cafe after it closed for the day, launching that after-hours pizza operation in summer 2023, and decided to open a permanent neighborhood spot after seeing a "for lease" sign outside the closed Park Deli while visiting his grandmother." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
I was just driving on my way home and for whatever reason this spot caught my eye. I made a whole U turn and stopped by for some experimental purposes. I didn’t know I’d be running into a new top tier pizza spot in nyc especially amongst all the competition. The elote square was unreal, perfectly executed. The ceasar salad I was skeptical about due to a salad on pizza I was wondering if it will be cold or the lettuce hot. But they executed it perfectly, perfect balance that I didn’t even notice. I was just enjoying an incredible pizza and the ceasar salad is incredible, if you gave me that as a salad I’d be happy, be aware tho you can taste the anchovies which some people may be put off by but real ceasar salad fans would appreciate. Amongst all that, the jalapeño pepperoni was my favorite still and overall I’d say atm, this spot is in my top 5 easily. I can just see the quality radiate from the slices and even better you could taste it. Must try!

Google
Pizza slices served in an inviting sit down location. Plentiful seating. Very clean, retro modern vibe. Basic bottle drink options. Window tables can get very sunny in the afternoon. Don't be shocked to see a line outside. Also, don't fear waiting on line; it moves really fast! Pies and slices are cooked well with a moderate amount of char and good crust crunch.

Google
I visited Diamond Slice for the first time to try their Caesar slice. I love a good Caesar salad and pizza, and the combo sounded fun. The slice is served cold (makes sense so the lettuce doesn’t wilt), but some of the lettuce was still a bit soggy, which threw off the texture a little. Flavor-wise, the slice was underwhelming. Either the salad could have used more seasoning before being placed on the pizza, or the cheese/base layer needed more flavor. The combination just didn’t come together the way I’d hoped. At $5.44 for a single slice, it’s also pricier than a typical slice. I probably wouldn’t get the Caesar slice again, but I’d give some of their other slices a try next time.

Google
We stopped in on here enroute to the marathon and boy am I glad we did because I had the best pizza of my life here😭 It was the last slice of the spicy vodka pie which has pepperoni on the top and I went with it since the staff member recommended it and it seemed popular as it was all gone and I think I saw some people eating it...I haven't stopped talking about this damn pizza since I had it because it was that good😫 I only wish I had another slice...overall go here as much as you can because it really is a diamond!💎 The staff are nice too, the toilets clean and they reheat your slice if it hasn't just come out the oven which is good.

Google
Quickly becoming one of my favorite slices in NYC. Super crispy but nice chew and softness on the inside and you can tell the ingredients/ toppings are high quality. Staff is super chill and kind as well!

Google
Truly one of the best slice selections and some of the best pizza in Brooklyn. Diamond slice definitely did not disappoint

Google
This place is a GEM. The pizza is crisp (no limp slices) with delicious toppings - the Buffalo chicken was my favorite, closely followed by the Caesar slice which was loaded with salad (and clearly a homemade dressing!), the vodka slice was also a can’t miss. Can’t wait to be back to try more from them, such a good spot!

Google
Probably our fav slice in the city (after trying Lucia, Mamas TOO, L’Industrie, and so many others several times). Seriously the flavors, dough profile, dimension and bite were so good that we’re still thinking about it the next day. Do yourself a favor and head to Diamond Slice! Yelp
this might be my new favorite pizza place in greenpoint, I had spicy vodka, and a white cheese slice and they were simple but so full flavor, s/o to Miguel the nice cashier for the recommendations

Yelp
I will go ahead and say it- best pizza in the neighborhood. -You can buy individual slices. -The line moves quickly. -Indoor and some outdoor seating. -Crispy but not charred crust. -Great selection of different types of pizza. -Prices comparable to other pizza places. -Suitable place to bring kids.

Yelp
This is a follow up review which I've never done before. I went back on June 3rd which became part of the new hours that Peter instituted for Diamond Slice. This time, in addition to the White Mushroom which is one of my favorite slices in the city, I finally tried their famous Caesar Salad slice. By god, this was one of the best slices I've ever had. The slice was well topped with Caesar salad that was very well balanced and the umami from the anchovies really gave it a kick which made it so delicious. Peter and his crew really hit that slice out of the ballpark and it's the top Caesar salad slice in the city by far. I highly recommend that this slice is something you must get at least once when you visit. And the service and vibe are amazing as always. Definitely my favorite pizza joint in Brooklyn as of writing.

Yelp
I am so glad I got to try Diamond Slice! I went around 7 PM on a weekday and there were plenty of slices left. I got the supreme and the chicken bacon ranch but they all looked amazing. The staff were really friendly and quick and got us an extra chair to sit down. It only took a few minutes for them to heat the slices. Both slices were cooked perfectly which is usually rare for reheated slices. NY slices can sometimes turn into dry crackers when reheated too much but this dough was crisp yet still doughy/chewy. I really liked the supreme which was pepperoni, jalapeño, sausage, and olives but I think the pepperoni jalapeño slice would've been better. The sausage and olives didn't add much. The chicken bacon ranch slice was like nothing I have ever had before. It was amazing! I think they also make their own ranch or something because it had a nice homemade taste. I highly recommend this place especially if you're into unique pizza toppings beyond pepperoni and cheese!

Yelp
Really impressed by their Caesar slice!! It seems like a gimmicky kind of slice but it's actually so good, very umami from the anchovy and a perfectly crisp crust. I like how finely chopped the lettuce is, it's not too messy to eat. I also got a slice of cheese, the tomato sauce is nice and tomatoey (if that makes sense) and the crust has a great crispy to chewy ratio. I thought it was funny that they put like 2.5 basil leaves on it lol. Definitely worth checking out this place!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came to Diamond Slice specifically for the Buffalo Chicken and Caesar slices based on a recommendation from his friend and both totally delivered. The Buffalo Chicken slice is absolutely to die for. Hands down the best we've ever had, so good that we're still thinking about it. They had just ran out of it when we got there, so we waited for a fresh pie to come out while we ate our Caesar slice, and it was totally worth the wait. Perfect balance of heat, creaminess, cheese - topped with crispy chicken and loads of scallions :) I enjoyed this slice more than I actually like eating buffalo chicken wings. The Caesar slice was also a standout--packed with umami from the dressing, Parm, and anchovy. Even cooled down a bit, it was still delicious, but I'd love to try it fresh next time to see how it hits straight from the oven. The dough is fantastic- thin, chewy and crisp in all the right places - also foldable without falling apart. Classic New York style, elevated with real attention to detail. The interior is super inviting, with plenty of tables and booths for hanging out. It's the kind of place you want to linger. Between the delicious pizza and the chill atmosphere, we'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This is a new slice shop in Greenpoint, located just 400 ft away from Chrissy's Pizza, and probably throwing a shot at him with the "Slices are Forever" slogan on the windows. Anyway, as L'industrie and Mama's Too in the West Village have proven, there seems to be enough pizza to go around to plenty of people, as both of those have remained steadily packed. That should be the case here too, as both are incredible, and currently some of the best New York-ish style pizza you can get in Brooklyn. As the slogan references, all they have here are slices, with full pies available as well. There are 8 different kinds on offer right now, and all 5 I tried were great, especially the Pepperoni, Caesar Salad and Buffalo Chicken. Also unlike Chrissy's, this one has some nice seating, including a few large booths. I can't wait to return for more, and hopefully before the lines ruin it.

Yelp
My new favorite pizza spot! So far I've tried the plain, spicy vodka and caesar slice. I really loved them all. I usually always get a caesar slice, but i need to try all of the other ones that they have
google avatar

Kirsten B.

Yelp
Caesar slice was good very fresh and perfect amount of dressing. Also got a plain slice which was also very good and perfectly crispy.

Yelp
Truly amazing pizza! I'm impressed. I got the pepperoni jalapeño and the buffalo chicken and both were great. Thin crispy crust and great flavor. Two small complaints though. A pepperoni slice is like 3.75 and pepperoni with jalapeño is $5? That seems like a high markup for some peppers. My second complaint was that I wanted just regular pepperoni anyways but it was SO burnt. If they heated it up it would have been a charred crisp. They should have just tossed it and made another. I didn't see anyone order it and it looked like it had been sitting there awhile because....burnt. So I selected the other options which were great! I'll be back to get their regular pepperoni which I'm sure will be amazing if not burnt.

Yelp
What a great no frills pizza joint. I ordered the vodka slice and mushroom slice. Both were thin and not floppy. The vodka slice was my favorite due to the robust fresh tomato they use. These slices aren't laden with cheese so you don't feel so stuffed after eating two. There were very few people when I went on a Friday afternoon so the slices came out quickly. They have a few other slices I had my eye on, so I guess I'll have to come back another day. There's a limited amount of tables and booth. If they're all occupied you can take your pizza on to either of the parks. There is also a one person bathroom for customers.

Yelp
Blown away by the slices here! Came in not sure what to expect and all 3 slices we got were great! They also offer free hot honey to add which is really nice as it's often an up charge. I liked every slice but the Buffalo chicken was def a standout and I would highly recommend!

Tj D.

Yelp
Best pizza in NYC hands down! Went to John's of Bleeker the day before coming here. Diamond is the new undisputed GOAT of NYC. Get here asap. Cancel all your plans. Order the Cheese slice well done. You're welcome.

Yelp
Just tried Diamond Slice and it's a great addition to the neighborhood! I had a Caesar slice and a Pepperoni slice. The Caesar had a great crackery crust topped with an anchovy umami filled Caesar salad topping. The Pepperoni was an excellent slice. The dough is reminiscent of a sourdough crust, as the dough has definitely been proofed for a few days... Nice selection of Mexican coke and Fanta to wash down the slices.

Yelp
The buffalo and caesar slices are incredible. And the staff is kind and the line moved so fast. I think about the advice, "If you're in New York and you see a line for food, look a block away and find the better food." That's Diamond Slice for Greenpoint pizza.

Yelp
As a buffalo chicken addict, I was over the moon to hear this hype pop-up concept was setting up shop in our neighborhood. And come Feb, they're finally open. First off, service was super sweet and seemed to be rolling smoothly even though they were definitely likely still in the phase of getting their sea legs. 5 bucks for a slice seems to be standard now, and for specialty slices, I didn't sweat it too much. The interior is super inviting. Warm tones, tons of natural light, comfy banquets, and a solid amount of additional seating that you don't often see in NYC parlors. Got the two "specialty slices" -- Caesar and buff chix. I will say, the dough is fantastic. Pleasantly soft and pillowy with only that outermost shatter-crisp, it differentiates itself nicely from everyone doing the over-elastic chewy thing. I love them both, but it's nice to see people trying to differentiate themselves and plant a flag in a different texture. All in all, I wanted more punch. The buffalo sauce could've been hotter. And the Caesar dressing tasted a bit watered down. There is zero doubt in my mind I will be back, however, because these folks have something special going on. The above is undoubtably just due to finding their groove!

Chloe B.

Yelp
Pizza is ok but for the time I had to wait ( extremely long due to mistakes that kept happening) not worth for me. Not going back.

Sara K.

Yelp
Unreal buffalo chicken slice and amazing staff !!!!!!!! 10/10 will definitely be coming back to try the other slices.

R B.

Yelp
Buffalo Slice, Caesar Slice and Hot Honey Jalapeño Pepperoni are amazing. This place gets really busy on Friday nights (as it should), but I'd much rather have that and wait a little bit for fresh slices than to to pay $35 bucks for a medium pizza pie up the block. Keep in mind they have only been open for 2 months and this is already a great addition to the area. Next time I'm going to try the spicy vodka and bbq chicken. My partner had the spicy vodka and she loved it last week, plus they have free hot honey for you to add. Its really great stuff.

lupin I.

Yelp
This place gets EVERTHING right. Great slice, great sauce, nice people. Such a good addition the neighborhood.

Daniela R.

Yelp
The pizza is delicious and so fresh plus this is a great addition to Greenpoint!! The owners story of how he landed in this location also makes it very special!

Drey M.

Yelp
While the pizza is good service is not. They took my order on a busy Friday and lost it. When they realized it, they DID NOT heat the cheese slices I ordered, they tossed them in the box and handed it to me. Thanks for the cold pizza and wasting 30 minutes of my day!

Jessica M.

Yelp
So damn good. Try to get there early because I've seen them have to close for the day due to sell out.
