So glad to have been recommended to this place. Dim Sum house is a tiny shop in a corner of Chinatown under the bridge, on a one way street where most people won't pass by. Yet they hold what many people love, DIM SUM! Now we can have delicious Dim Sum at home and at a fraction of the cost! 20 pork Sui Mai costs only $7.5! Now instead of one tub each, we can have 20 Sui Mai each :D

After dozens of times driving to this place and it looked closed, I decided to try again this past week. This store has been open for 35 years and they cater to restaurants too, so you'll know you'll get freshness and restaurant quality food. The lady was so helpful and friendly. She explained most items simply needs 14 minutes to steam, while the har gow only needs 10 minutes. Such a great deal with busy work life and my weekends brunches are going to be amazing. We had some of this morning for New Years brunch. Har Gow were flavorful and packed with meaty shrimp. The Pork Siew Mai were tender and meaty, just like the ones you get from restaurants. Both had the perfect texture and delicious. Hits the spot when craving for dim sum.

Dim Sum House is a hidden gem for frozen dim sum items such as siu mai (pork wrapped with dumpling wrapper). I usually go in to buy a pack of 20 frozen piece's for $8. They have other items listed at wholesale prices to anyone. Keep in mind they only take cash and there is no ATM nearby. Highly recommend.

Can't think of a better place to buy dumplings in bulk for an out of town family member or a special function at home. Selection is not co prehensile but very good. Prices also excellent. If you're looking for a place to buy dump,I go for the steamer for a crowd, this is the place to go.

REAL Chinese cuisine (many Asian families, including older ones, was telling. Fast service. Tasty soup dumplings, snow pea greens, beef tendon. Baked pork buns were tasty, with great sweet dough and nicely seasoned, but slightly sparse filling. Overall very happy.

I took home and tried the following frozen items: - Shrimp Dumpling (20 pc) for $8.50 - Pork Siu Mai (20 pc) for $7.50 - Bean Curd Wrap Pork Roll (20 pc) for $8.50 - Xiao long bao - aka Mandarin dumpling (20 pc) for $7.50 - Pork pot sticker (20 pc) for $7.50 - BBQ Pork Bun (6 pc) for $4.50 Price point wise, they're the best deal around. The next time I come back, I will purchase the pork siu mai, Xiao long bao, and the pork pot stickers again which were the tastiest items. Then walk a couple blocks south to Dim-Dim to purchase the shrimp dumplings and the shrimp & pork siu mai. Note that the xiao long bao does not have the soup inside like a traditional XLB when cooked. It's just a tasty pork meatball (MSG laden obviously) inside a tasty chewy wrapper. What I didn't enjoy were DSH's shrimp dumplings, which were not as plump and the wrapper were not as high quality and delicate as the ones sold at Dim-Dim. The bean curd wrap was very greasy and gave me stomach pain. The BBQ pork bun was similar to eating cardboard. No place is perfect, but they have some tasty offerings and I'll be making a stop soon to pick up some dumplings for late night snack or dim sum brunch at home.

This is my go to spot for dim sum. Why? Because its always cooked fresh to order (when i take it home!) Its a great value for dim sum, and the quality is legit - if you steamed them up at home -you can't tell the difference! I keep a few packs of this in my freezer for those days I just don't want to cook - and its a live saver. Only bad part for me is that I need to plan when I go down to Chinatown to grab a resupply since I live so far away. Only missing part is a Cantonese lady calling out the dim sum treats on her cart! Har-Gow, Siu Mai, Fun Gwoh! Cash for transactions, limited street parking and very easy to miss. Its directly south of 26th Street on Wentworth Ave - Just grab from the refrigerators, most come in packs of 20. And at an affordable $7.50.

Really good quality dim sum for incredible value. If you love dim sum and want some good quality dim sum at home, this place has exactly where you need to go. We usually get the shumai. You get 20 pieces of shumai for only 7.50$! That is a steal when you consider that in most dim sum places you get 4-5 pieces only for like $4-$5. The taste is really good too for the value. We try the other options they have every now and then too and are never disappointed. We come back to re-stock our freezer for their magical & cheap but yummy dim sum often ever since we first came here. Totally recommend this place without hesitation.

What a gem! So glad we found this little place. It is right outside of Chinatown but easy to find. As soon as you walk in, this sweet lady with a biggest smile greets you and you are presented with ALL THE DELICIOUS DIMSUM. Everything is nicely packed + frozen so that you can easily take it home to steam it & savor on them whenever you please. They have a good variety of selections starting from Pork Shu Mai, Shrimp Hargow, Turnip Cakes, Potstickers to Bean Curd Rolls! You get 20 pieces - priced at $4-$8 each. All I can say is, WOW! We will be back to try more!

I've ordered shrimp dumpling, pot stickers, bbq pork buns, red bean buns and pork siu mai. Everything was good except the red bean buns. The bread wasn't very sweet or fine and the red bean paste inside was bland. They have a sign indicating prices and items. They do accept credit. You can accent with shrimp and chive dumplings found in the frozen section of Hong Kong Market (now known as Park to Shop supermarket near Appleville) if you're hosting a dim sum event at home.

Comparing to the price, yes, I would give this place 5 stars, not the best Dim Sum, but it will keep you full and satisfy your craving. And it would be the best idea for stocking dim sum at home for a winter day in Chicago. I bought one of each from the menu, and top 3 winners were: 1. Pork Siu Mei (I usually choose beef over pork, but not this time) 2. Shrimp Dumpling 3. B.B.Q Pork Bun. There is sometimes hard to find parking in front of store, but you can actually park on side streets which around 2 blocks away. (Free parking)

This place is my new favorite. It's super small and unassuming, you'd never know what it was if you weren't already on a mission. But they have a great selection of dim sum frozen in small sheets for you to take home and steam away. They do take credit card which is good for convenience but bad because I always walk out of there with way more than I had intended on buying. My favorite are the siu mai and the three happiness siu mai. It's great to keep in your freezer for dim sum emergencies!

Came here after seeing the reviews, picked up sui mai, har gow and pork potstickers. The sui mai and potstickers used the same type of meat filling. Soft and mushy, not what you would get at dim sum. The wrapper of all 3 is mushy, whether steamed or pan fried. It's an ok deal for the price, but it's definitely nothing close to dim sum quality. I won't be going back.

The frozen dim sum I got here are pretty mediocre. I would recommend avoiding the Har Gow in particular. The bao and the pork potstickers both have the same filling and were decent. I arrived here late in the day so their selection was extremely limited.

I like the Dim Sum house, because if you want Dim Sum catered at you party they get it done for you, at a reasonable price. My mother orders from them all the time for our birthday parties or House-warming parties the potstickers are a hit! I also recommend their almond jello, and shrimp dumplings ( Ha- Gow)

excellent! dimsum comes frozen, so you'll need a steamer or have something to steam with. the dimsum taste natural, made from homemade ingredients, with restaurant quality taste. the cost is reasonable, like $8 per 20 pieces. if you went to a dimsum restaurant, it'll be $5 per 4/5 pieces. definitely going back and buying more. I think it will be easy for someone to open a dimsum restaurant selling steamed version of this, and I couldn't tell a difference.

You can't bast the quality or the price for sum sum here. Dim sum is made here and then frozen for customer pick up. It's makes those days where you have a craving for your favorite dish super easy since it's in your freezer. The siu mai is DELICIOUS. I love ha gow but I found the skin a little too thing to hold up the shrimp. The xiao long bao are huge in size but I think I prefer the frozen ones from the grocery store since the coveted juice factor is missing. HIGHLY recommend this place.

100% worth it. Restaurant quality dim sum that you can bring home and steam yourself for very affordable prices. I've gotten the Siu Mai, Har Gow, Xiao Long Bao, and potstickers here, and they almost all came at 20 pieces for $7.50, a fraction of the cost compared to if you went to a restaurant. This is a great option for lazy people who don't want to put on pants to leave their house, or for the many Chicagoans who don't want to brave the seasons for good dim sum.

I've only tried the Shui Mai but so far IT'S GREAT!! I took a tray of 20 home ($7.50) and microwaved 4 (covered with a little water) for 5 minutes and they came out very nice. I did it again but this time for 3 minutes and then added my favorite ramen noodle and had wonton noodle soup. YUMMM. Next time I'm in the old neighborhood, I'm going to get at least 4 trays. They have beef shui mai, Chicken shui mai and a few other things I want to try

Frozen dim sum. Stock up your freezer. As easy as steaming them (or fry for a bit and add water to steam the rest till done). Quick delicous dinner. Get the barbeque pork boa for a different appetizer for parties. They are easy to prep and are more forgiving on serving time. 20-30 types of dim sum and all great.
