The lower level of the Grand Central Terminal is a large food court area known as the Dining Concourse. There are very affordable dining options and nifty train-inspired seating. It's a great place to recharge while touring through NYC, and it has the best/cleanest public bathroom in the area. It usually doesn't get too crowded as most people don't venture underground when they visit the Grand Central Terminal. The busiest times is during weekday lunch, but usually the crowd also moves very quickly too.

Food stalls of all sorts and calibres. American, Asian, Latin, European... Some seating and tables are available, as well as countertop dining (standing like a cow). Overall pricing not too bad given the captive audience. Free wi-fi!

As it was our first time in NYC we had to make a stop at Grand Central. Glad we stumbled upon the dining concourse because we were on our way to Yankees game and wanted to grab food beforehand. There are a lot of options, and we grabbed food from a few different places and they were all great.

My favorite place down here is Magnolias Bakery and Tasty Krust Jamaican food. They have a Shake Shack ( always a long line ) and a nice variety of other foods. The bathrooms are usually very clean and always crowded. Seating can be somewhat of a challenge. Which brings me to my three star rating. This place is filled with homeless people sleeping on the benches and taking up seats for long periods of time. They have security that roam around constantly. So they are well aware of the situation. Depending on the day you visit, it could be better or worse. If it’s raining or freezing outside they are there in droves.

Tartinery is where it's at. Seems simple enough - juice and cocktails and sweet and savory food items on good quality bread. Simple is difficult to excel at, and they do. I didn't have high expectations for a restaurant in the middle of Grand Central's basement food court. However, I was completely wrong. Service was impeccable, food was terrific, and they accommodated my need to catch a train. While I love to grab a doughnut on my way to a train, if you have a few moments to at least wait for them to prepare your food, I promise it'll be worth it.

An okay selection of food options, including salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos and more. We've always found this to be an easy dining option where everyone in the family can find at least find something they want. None of the options are out of this world, but they're all good to very good - with decently large portions. The only real downside is that seating is very limited, so you're most likely going to be standing at a table. Not that you want to necessarily linger, but it can be a bit more challenging with small children. Overall, the dining concourse serves as a consideration if you're looking for multiple options, decent prices, and good food.

I prefer the Basic Outlying Drinking Plaza, but this is a cool place too. I have nothing at all against the Grand Central Dining Concourse. In fact I think it's Innovative and interesting and unique and different. I could have probably seen it coming, but it's amazing that New York doesn't seem to have a lack of local eateries and good eateries, although sadly some of them haven't been staying in business lately, but that's beside the point. It's still a great place to hang out, and even though the food is overpriced at the vast majority of these stands, they do have a few great places, and a Doughnut Plant as well.

Around 2 dozen dining options and services (shoe shine, flowers) located on the basement/ lower level of Grand Central Terminal. A variety of mostly take-away friendly cuisines including burgers, fried chicken, bakeries, Mediterranean, French, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Latin, soup & salad spots, ice cream & chocolates. Prices aren't cheap since it's NY, but less expensive than most of the full service restaurants in the area. Seating areas are scattered throughout the space, and during busy hours it's difficult to find a seat. A note: during winter seasons there may be some tables and seats overtaken by unfortunate homeless individuals. Overall reasonable place to grab a bite on the run if you're hungry and transferring through Grand Central.

I can see the appeal and the reason that a lot of love Grand Central Dining Concourse. The atmosphere is really fun and the staff is excellent. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and totally delicious. Service was fantastic and everybody working here was very nice and hospitable. Definitely stop by if you can!
