Great spot, food was excellent service was great and it definitely had a lot of regulars. I went on a Tuesday at 4 and the place was packed, they were on a wait when I left at 6:15. I had the combo dinner with ribs and brisket they were both excellent as well as the sides and that cornbread was perfect. Overall a must if you’re stopping in Syracuse. Don’t skip this one you won’t regret it.

Google
Line was always long. Since there are no reservations expect to wait anywhere from 60-90 minutes on a weekend for dinner. Regardless, me and my friends always stuck around for the way as it is amazing BBQ. The best sliders and some of the best mac & cheese that I’ve ever had. Brisket and ribs were super tender, juicy, & flavorful. Cornbread was spectacular. Home made fries and wings were off the charts. Again, this is worth the wait. My friends and I would drive up from Ithaca since it’s that good.

Amazing and consistent! Quality is always there, large portions and great value! We left with a smile and look forward to the next trip to Syracuse for more great BBQ

I had the chance to visit this spot while in Syracuse for a graduation. When we arrived, the wait time for a party of four was quoted at 35–40 minutes, but it ended up being closer to 25, despite the long-looking line moving fairly quickly. The place was crowded—likely due to the graduation—but I’ve heard it’s popular year-round. Our waitress (wish I’d gotten her name!) was excellent—super attentive and helpful with menu recommendations. I ordered the 6-piece dry rub BBQ ribs with fries and crispy coleslaw. The ribs were meaty and fell off the bone, though the tangy BBQ sauce wasn’t quite to my taste—I usually prefer a sweeter flavor like Sweet Baby Ray’s. The coleslaw was vinegar-based, and I tend to like it sweeter, so that wasn’t my favorite either. The fries were more on the softer side than crispy—perfect if you’re a fan of that style—and I enjoyed them. I also tried a piece of brisket, but it was a bit salty for me—though I’m not usually a brisket fan, so others may love it. Overall, we had a great experience and everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals. I’d definitely visit again and try the catfish next time. It’s a solid spot to hang out if you're in town.

Google
Great place to visit, the food was very good and super tasty. My wife has a celiac disease, and I am happy to report she had no issues with this place, and felt great after eating there. The place is small and can get very loud, kinda hard to talk to the people that you are eating with. Also, they did mess up our order and got us 2 of the ribs instead of what we ordered, but it was still very tasty. Overall very good place to go and eat, good atmosphere, music a bit too LOUD! Prices are good, we were 4 people had food and drinks and the bill was around $100 ( not including tip). Recommend.

Google
Nothing compares to the OG Dino BBQ. Worth the wait, if there is one. Very friendly service - staff can't do enough for you. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and family meal if you're with a group.

Tried this BBQ place for the first time during a road trip and absolutely loved the food. The pork belly was delicious, the sausage were juicy and tender. Definitely go back again. Would recommend making a reservation

Google
As far as the food is concerned, I don't get the hype. I was super excited to try this landmark establishment out, I left fairly disappointed. Everything that we had was average at best, and not worth making a venture (or even a stop along a road trip). My biggest complaint was that the pulled pork didn't have a smokey flavour, but it tasted like I was eating a tree, very woody. The salt levels were also very high, as all of us that were eating were very thirsty after departing. The brisket was average as best, not meating the expectations, I've had better at roadside pits all across the country. The service was phenomenal - I can't give them any knocks, and since they aren't in the kitchen, they desrve the call out. Absolutely friendly, drinks were kept full, and we felt attended to and welcomed. In short, lower expectations, and if there is a wait, it's probably not worth it.

Yelp
Dino is an institution. What more is there to say? I recently stopped in to get their cajun deviled eggs. I've said it before and will say it again - many BBQ places phone it in on their vegetarian sides, but these babies are a home run. I did notice on the menu that they have more vegetarian options (actual entrees) than when I'd gone many years ago, so maybe I'll have to come back for a bigger meal. I used the fast casual counter and my food came out super quickly. The servers were around and were very warm and friendly.

Yelp
Random pit stop in Syracuse, NY to eat here on our way to Albany from Toronto. And as a crew of Texans, we have to say, honestly, not bad! This is some pretty good BBQ! We were all hangry by the time we arrived and thank goodness we arrived when we did because Dinosaur was bumping on a Monday night and a massive wait started forming right after we sat down. The margarita is disappointing because the glass was all ice and the drink was gone in like 3 sips (they do have some great beers on tap, though, so maybe stick with those). We started with the chicken wings--hot buffalo sauce--and love the fact that you can order just three! They were seriously amazing: tender and juicy chicken with a tangy and spicy sauce, and just...chef's kiss! The side salad is a bit meh, but we did appreciate the ranch BBQ dressing. Here's the breakdown of everything else we ate from our combo plate and beyond: --Ribs: delicious, falling off the bone, yes. --Pulled pork: juicy, flavorful, nicely shredded, yes --Brisket: we are snobs and this was not impressive. Tougher than it needed to be, so no. --Simmered greens: delicious, meaty, smoky, yes. --Cornbread: dry as hell, weird texture, not corn-forward. No. --Mac-n-cheese: she's a little spicy! Pretty good, yes. Overall, it was a really good meal. Unfortunately, the salted caramel cookie bar had very little caramel and didn't really impress, so wasn't the best note to end on. Also, our waitress was a little odd. Out of nowhere, while one of us was in the middle of an order, she would just leave the table and then come right back after a few minutes. It happened a couple times! But the vibe in there is so cool and it's just a hoppin' fun atmosphere where everyone seems to be in a good mood. So, overall, we're glad we came and we're giving it four happy stars.

Yelp
A breath of fresh air for BBQ restaurants north of the Mason Dixie Line. Being from the south, and Having had DBBQ a couple of times, I firmly believe that the restaurant does a very nice job of emulating southern style BBQ. Its styles range from central Texas, to St Louis style, to the Carolinas. I find their palette to be more in line with places you would find in Memphis overall, especially with their slight vinegar based sauces. DBBQ has some very nice sides including their Mac Sal and slaw and I enjoy their Pulled pork sandwhich topped with slaw. Overall a very nice change of pace!

Yelp
Reliably great BBQ at this Syracuse original. Five of us went here early election day evening 2024. Had a big table and a bunch of great food in their family friendly , dive-bar atmosphere. Waiter was excellent. Food also. I had brisket & sausage, greens, beans & rice, & key lime pie. Would get it all again.

Yelp
This place lives up to its reputation. Walked in for lunch on a Thursday and was seated immediately. The staff was all very attentive, kept my drink filled, and checked in frequently. I ordered the "tres niños" which is a massive amount of food for the price. All three of the meats were delicious and the mango habanero bbq sauce at the table is amazing. The Mac and cheese was also a huge highlight for a side dish. The sweet tea is also delicious. It's exactly what a sweet tea should taste like. The interior is very warm and cozy feeling. Plenty of tables and spots at the bar, but I could imagine it gets very busy on a weekend for lunch or dinner. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Pretty solid BBQ. Not Texas, but still very good. Staff is very friendly, and the Dinosaur theme is very welcome and fun. All of my foods were tasty and had little unique spin here and there. The pasta was pretty good, but I do appreciate collard greens as a choice. I'd be happy to go back her for some Dino-Dinner!

Yelp
How I have failed to acknowledge Dinosaur BbQ up to this point is beyond me. This is an American institution! The biker bar turned American bbq joint has been wining over the hearts of Syracuse for over 35 years now. Pulled pork, chicken wings, ribs, steak, brisket....its a meat lovers paradise. The food is always enjoyable. Personally, the wings are the go to for me. Huge, meaty, saucy! The deviled eggs are also a delight. I usually try to stay away from bbq outside of Texas, but this is one of my few exceptions. It's distinctly Syracuse, so much so that it can't really be compared to other bbq. This place is a well oiled machine with impeccable service! And above else, the atmosphere and vibe at Dinosaur BBQ alone is worth the trip. Always busy, it's simply the place to be in Syracuse.

Yelp
Stopped by Dinosaur BBQ on the way through Syracuse after seeing the Yelp reviews. I'm from Dallas, Texas on a business trip and Dinosaur BBQ was seriously delicious BBQ. The brisket, ribs and pulled pork were awesome. Even the sides were amazing. The baked beans, cucumber salad and corn bread were delicious and tasty. Service was excellent also. I can see why this restaurant was packed. Definitely come here if you're in Syracuse!

Yelp
Very unassuming from outside. Who would have thought there would be an hour wait on a Monday evening. The food was AMAZING! We shared the 3 meat meal and chose ribs, pulled pork and brisket (brisket was my favorite). For sides we got Mac and cheese and the mash potatoes and gravy. Also came with corn bread (it was okay- nothing spectacular). And there was some left!! The nachos looked really good. And many people around us ordered them. Our server must have been busy the hostess basically waited on us, she was awesome.

Yelp
Right off the bat: this place truly lives up to all the hype! Although I gave it 5 stars, there were a couple "it could be better" situations for me personally. Pros: the brisket. Enough said. This was amazing. As was the pulled pork, baked beans & mac and cheese. Truly phenomenal. 10/10 for those! Cons: while the "poutine fries" were delish - it was more a 7/10 for me. The fresh fries were great and the pulled pork as well. However, there was very little pimento cheese - and as a self proclaimed pimento cheese connoisseur, I was disappointed. Coleslaw: the flavor was pretty good, creamy and tangy. However the cabbage was really rough and thick cut. I prefer fine cut and a touch of sweetness in mine. 8/10 Overall: this is somewhere we will be sure to visit every time we come to Syracuse! Do yourself a favor and stop here!

Yelp
Best BBQ within at least 400 miles. Amazing service and the food was delivered super fast. Well worth the drive no matter how far away you may live.

Yelp
Everytime we visit Syracuse we always have to make a stop at Dinosaur! Tonight we ordered family style meals and it was delicious. The brisket was by far my favorite as well as the wings! Mac and cheese 10/10!

Yelp
I was on a business trip in Syracuse and decided to try the iconic Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. We started with the fried green tomato appetizer, which had great flavor and presentation. For the main course, I ordered the 2 meat platter with ribs and brisket, along with mac and cheese, cornbread, and a cucumber/tomato salad. The food arrived hot and tasted fantastic--definitely lived up to the hype! The only downsides were our seat location (we were freezing because of the air conditioning) and the long wait for our food. But despite that, I'd still recommend it and would definitely return!

Yelp
This place wonderful. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The walls are covered in tons of memorabilia. We got a table quickly and the food and drinks came quickly too. Everything tasted great. We highly recommend trying the sauces on the table. They rocked!

Yelp
GREAT FOOD, BEER ON TAP & SERVICE =============================== My husband and I stopped in for dinner on Easter and it was open! We had just flown into Syracuse from LAX and were starving after not eating all day. I of course had to order an Old Fashioned to take the flying edge off after being crammed into two planes and making connection in Philly. I really hate the Philly airport. You can fly into one gate with American and the next is a mile away. No time to get food after our tram was stuck on the tarmac waiting for a plane to get out of the way. After that first drink I got wise that they had a lot of beer on tap which is always more affordable, so I usually steer toward a strong IPA. My husband got the brisket combo and he liked that. I got a salad, with pulled pork and cornbread and I loved that. We sat at the bar which is faster when you need that drink refilled. Lots of street parking.

Yelp
The food was soooooo good! My ribs were tender falling off the bone, my mac & cheese was cheesy and delicious. I fell in love with the collard greens it was sweet and salty at the same time! I had to get the cat fish and I'm glad I did it was so crunchy and fresh. I loved my meal and my husband had no complaints either. Our nachos were good the only thing I would say is that there was more chili than chips which is an easy fix. Service was quick nothing to complain about there either. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 | Service: 4.5/5 | Experience: 4/5 This location does not take reservations, so my group of 3 stood outside a couple of minutes prior to opening at 11 am and were sat immediately. Our waiter was also very sweet and checked in on us a couple of times. We ordered the sweetheart deal with ribs, 2 sides of beans, mac & cheese, and greens. There was quite a generous portion of food. Ribs were a bit dry and not as tender as I had hoped, but all good once dipped in their sauce. Mac & cheese was quite saucy and cheesy - in a good way. The beans were sweet and lightly smoky. I also appreciated the complimentary cornbread. Food was all great and very typical of what is expected.

Yelp
Great ambiance and great foods! We had drinks at the bar while waiting and had a table for 3 of us in the lighter part of the place. Given a perfect advice by our waitress, we ordered Sweetheart Deal for 2 which comes with full rack of BBQ pork ribs with 4 homemade sides. Ribs are extremely delicious and so did sides. And it came at surprisingly affordable price.

Yelp
Love it here! The owner recently changed and a lot is different now... I've been coming to this location for 30 years. Now, the inside is cleaner, more open, the menu is the same, but this location (the original location!) no longer has music inside. I love ordering the sweet tea, fried green tomatoes, the wings, collard greens, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, whiskey cheese cake, etc. I recommend all of the food here! But, my favorite items off of the menu are the fried green tomatoes and the pulled pork. Enjoy!

Yelp
This place blew us away. We are in town visiting family from San Diego, and this is the best barbecue I've ever had! This would absolutely trump Texas barbecue any day! Even the staff was so welcoming and made our family feel like home. Shannon, the manager is running such a great restaurant! Was our waiter and she was so loving and helpful. This is by far the best barbecue restaurant I've ever been to will absolutely be back next time we are in town!

Yelp
Iconic Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is one of my favorite stops with locations conveniently located in Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, Troy and the NYC area each place has its own charm but that wonderful smoke and sauce that is certainly their claim to fame. Even in the middle of the week the restaurant is booming which honestly I love. Music, laughter, and the sounds you know everyone is having a good time. Good BBQ is hard to find in NY and this is certainly always competing with one other location in NY that I love to frequent when I'm in town.

Yelp
I went back on a Saturday after an SU game. I suggest enjoying bars downtown and then making your way over to Dino. You're probably going to have a wait, likely the minimum of an hour, so put your name in and either go to the bar or try out any of the other bars in walking distance. They'll text you when your table is ready. I'm not sure how long you have to get back, but NYC has a pretty standard 15 minute time frame. Service is great. The ambiance is straight up cool. This used to be an old biker bar, which is now a family friendly environment, but has still managed to retain its heritage. VERY COOL. Is this the best BBQ in the U.S.? No...and you're not going to find that in NY of all places. In my experience, BBQ outside of a few states, especially in NY is worth skipping. Dinosaur is an exception to that rule. It's just plain solid BBQ for whatever state you're in. Is there better? Sure, absolutely. But you're in Upstate NY and you're having arguably the best BBQ in the entire state (outside of what you smoke at home). I highly recommend coming here. The meats are quality (Prime beef, Duroc pork), the sides have unique twists to them, service is great, the beer selection is solid and it's cold. Can't complain one bit. There's no reason not to go back and in fact I'm looking forward to my next time downtown, so that I can stop by for some pulled pork and ribs.
google avatar

Li C.

Yelp
The service was amazing. They sat us quickly and our waitress checked up on us every so often. I loved the environment because it gives you the biker bar feeling, but is still a great place to take the family. We saw many families eating there during our visit, reaffirming parents felt the same I did. The food was unbelievably good. I have had my fair share of bbq and this stood out. We got a combo plate with the St. Louis Ribs, pulled pork, and prime brisket. Everything was very tender and seasoned amazingly. They also have extra bbq sauce at the table if you are like me and love adding more. Personally I loved all of the meats, although remeber the ribs have cartilage before devouring it, like my boyfriend who is was unpleasantly surprised. For our sides, we got the baked beans and mac & cheese, as well as an order of fries after seeing them at another table. The plate also came with cornbread, which is nice that we didn't have to pick that as a side and order extra to try other things. The sides were not a sideshow to the meat. The baked beans had a very different taste than I have ever had. I'm used to baked beans being very sweet, but these were smoky and had an interesting bite to them. I believe they had cut up jalepeño or some other peppers in them, which was unique to others I had. I believe they also had some pieces of meat as well. The mac and cheese also had very distinct flavors that I have never had. It could have possibly been mustard, as I know people use it in some recipes. It was absolutely amazing and I kept eating it trying to determine what was in it that kept making me want more. The cornbread was classic, not dry, perfectly simple. I also want to note that the portions of everything was amazing. I shared the combo plate with my boyfriend, but if you have a third person I think it is enough to fill everyone. I was surprised to see the sides were a shareable portion, rather than a small cup like I have had other places. The fries were a last minute order, as the table next to us said they were better than five guys, so I knew we had to try them. I am not one to eat a lot of fries, trying to watch my health, but I could not stop eating them. They were crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside and seasoned perfectly with salt and pepper. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of bbq and trying something new. I anticipate trying the one in the city, as I'm curious if it retains the qualities of the one in Syracuse.

Yelp
The hubs had been here like 39 years ago and did not have a good experience then. We almost didn't pass by, but thanks to Yelp we decided to give it a try. Thank Goodness we did!!!! It was exceptional!! Some of the best Brisket I've ever had !! I had the Brisket plate with coleslaw and Mac and Cheese. The Brisket was amazing and the Mac and Cheese was great. The coleslaw was ok, I like it sweet and this one was tangy. The hubs had the Turkey club Tuesday special, he loved it. His two sides were the chili, delicious, and the cucumber salad which was good. Service by Annie was friendly and on point. If we are ever back in the area, we'll definitely return.

Yelp
I heard about Dinosaur BBQ from coworkers and after seeing reviews, I paid a visit. I ordered a combo plate of brisket, ribs, with Cole slaw and fries as side. I will say, the star of the meat was the brisket, man it was tender and moist and had the right amount of smoked flavor! Cole slaw was good, more on the vinegary side. Chicken wings were good, could have had more of a fry to it. Fried green tomatoes were surprisingly tasty as well. Overall a great bbq joint in upstate NY!
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Solid BBQ by many standards! Food was well prepped and served on a tray. Like any BBQ it would stand up without the sauce. Not slathered to conceal anything but just enough to enhance the flavors Brisket - tender with lots of juices and a great bark! Pulled Pork - pulled not chopped. Good amount with plenty of sweet flavor and a touch of spice on the back end Jalapeño Sausage- cheesy with just the right heat from the peppers. Pickled Onions Sauted a bit under it! Yes please Mac&Cheese - plenty of cheese, noodles cooked perfectly with a bit of BBQ spice sprinkled on top Fries were fresh cut & fried but tue corn bread needed moisture Service was on point at the bar with an eye candy bartender. Root Beer was excellent as a draught. Plenty of things to look at from the stickers to the paintings to the art. Make it a stop and enjoy some really good BBQ!

Yelp
I'm going to say this was for my friends wedding and it hit the spot completely delicious. Great ribs chicken and cornbread.

Yelp
First review, but would guess at least 30 visits over the last 15 years! I have travelled to Syracuse many times and have always stopped at Dinosaur. I also stop whenever passing through Syracuse on the NYS thruway... Everything is great, tend to gravitate to the Cuban sandwich or Brisket but everything is exceptional. Favorite sides are the baked beans ( worthy of 6 stars) the greens and the Mac cheese. I have also eaten at the Harlem and Rochester locations and hope to visit Troy, but nothing beats the ambience of Syracuse!

Yelp
Only street parking only. Got lucky on Memorial day to find a parking spot. Food was amazing!! Great place for a big party. We ordered fried green tomatoes as starters (highly recommend!). As main we ordered coleslaw n bbq beans w pork 1/2 fam stylin pork, power couple - mac n cheese, combo plates - shrimp & prime brisket. Service was great! Good portions and delicious bbq! Must visit again if ever in around the area :)

Yelp
Amazing brisket. Great service. If I am back in town, I am eating there again. Don't let the look of the place intimidate you from bringing family and kids. It is great for that too. Mac and cheese was also a highlight. Also I love what they did with the place. Full experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was OK. Waitress was attentive. Food Cuban was very good with Mac Salad. My 3 Meats bad news. Served in about 5 to 6 minutes from ordered cold and not very flavorful. Their ribs smaller compared to previous picturesposted, pulled pork and brisket portions were larger $18.50 and much more flavorful. Portions are smaller. Sides beans and chili were excellent and the size are back to larger portions. Wouldn't run back. Great draft beer selection. The inside hasn't really changed much.

Yelp
I had the Pit Master burger. It was awesome. I wasn't even hungry and still ate it all. Super delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After our second attempt we finally got a table!! It can be a super long wait even on a weekday so make sure you know that ahead of time. We shared the family style meal and it was pretty good! Loved the pulled pork and the chicken was delicious. The Mac and cheese was a little too peppery for me but that's okay. The poutine app and deviled eggs are a must try!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
The real deal. When we arrived the wait was 45 minutes, but we were able to order food to go and enjoy it outside. You can also order drinks from the bar to enjoy outside as well. Dinosaur was packed and for good reason. I went with one of their plates, with brisket and ribs, two sides. Everything was superb. The vibe was fun and I would most definitely return if I was back in the area.

Yelp
A perfect day date with my husband at Dinosaur. It's one of our favorite places, we had our baby shower at their venue upstairs six years ago. We highly recommend it for any special occasion. They accommodated our vegetarian and vegan family members. On their regular menu they have items for them as well. I started off with their Donkey Punch after seeing it posted on their Instagram, it was delicious! I was eyeing their French Vanilla Espresso Martini since I've been trying them wherever I go but that'll wait for my next visit haha. My husband loves getting the poutine here, it has perfect amount of gravy, pulled pork and cheese ratio. They topped it with onions and jalapeños as well. I love getting their combo platter with three meats & two sides. I opted for brisket, spicy shrimp and 1/4 chicken(dark meat), simmered greens, bbq beans and of course my favorite of all things their pickles! Everything was delicious and filling I ended up taking some leftovers home. My husband wanted to try something new so he got the brisket cheesesteak with bacon. He said he enjoyed it, flavors were good but he probably would get their chicken cheesesteak(he had before) over the brisket one. Of course we looked at the dessert, I went with salty caramel cookie bar and he had peanut butter pie. Both were delicious, I saved some for my two littles. We haven't dined in a while, we always do takeout but the service has always been great, dine in or takeout. Our waitress today was great, efficient, and personable. We went during lunch time, and downtown lunch time gets busy(I used to work across from the restaurant). We only waited maybe 10 minutes not even. I also love their bowl options and chopped salad and house dressing .

Yelp
I want to do-over! I ordered wrong, I think. I went with a 2 meat combo Brisket and Jalapeño-Cheddar Sausage, I took the fries and coleslaw. The meat comes with sauce, a cheddar sauce on the sausage and some bbq sauce and jalapeño slices on the brisket. I was not ready for that, it makes it great for the presentation but it gets in the way of the meat. Of the meat I tasted without sauce it was good, so I wonder what with the sauce. The fries were perfect! And the slaw was to great to me, since I favor more of mayonnaise and tang. All in all I would could back to try it again. ***Flight Attendant approved***

Yelp
The best dinosaur BBQ and some of the best food I've ever had. We shared 2 appetizers, a brisket platter with 2 sides, and 1/2 family style BBQ ($47) which is actually a better deal than the full family style BBQ ($93) bc half comes with 2 sides and full comes with 3. The best was the ribs, which were extremely flavorful and coated in plenty of BBQ. They are completely solid while they also fall off the bone. Truly incredible. The mac and cheese is unbelievably flavorful and well seasoned. Some of the best mac and cheese I've had. The brisket was tender, juicy, and not very flavorful. Also the best brisket I've had at Dino. The chicken, pork, and steamed greens were good but that's not my favorite. We shared deviled eggs and poutine as appetizers which were both great. The prices are uniform across the chain, so they are high for the area and low for NYC. The chili was decent but thin, so I wasn't a fan. The coleslaw and cornbread are meh. This location has chili while the others don't, and this location doesn't have whipped sweet potatoes while the others do. The cornbread is actually better at the other locations.

Yelp
Visiting my son over Parent's weekend and we finally got to try out this place. Ambiance was great. The place was packed but plenty of room by the bar and people were in a good mood. Lots of memorabilia on the walls to look at. We had over an hour wait for our table but managed to get a couple of seats at the bar while we waited. T bar staff were fantastic. They poured a great pint and a decent shot. Lots of good draft beer to be had. Our table was available right on time as promised. When we sat at the table our waitress was super helpful. I had the brisket plate with collards and my wife had fried catfish. Son and daughter had ribs and chicken. We got sides of baked beans and Mac and cheese. Everything was very good. I actually expected a worse showing being that this is NY. I would check it out but be prepared to wait. Get there early, have a drink while you wait for a table and enjoy

Yelp
Awesome place to get some drinks and good bbq. The decor and setup inside is really cool and sets the stage for a great meal. You can definitely tell there is a lot of history at this location. My wife and I were just stopping in so we didn't get full meals. I really wish we would have came back later because the food I had and saw other people getting looked amazing. I did have the brisket slider and it was one of the most flavorful things I've had in recent memory. The brisket itself was cooked perfectly, super tender. On top of that, the pickled onions, horsey Mayo, and their bbq sauce was delicious. A must stop spot in Syracuse!

Yelp
The food was nice and ambient was very punk. Dinosaurs were drew on the wall outside the restaurant. Kids loved that so much. We ordered family feast and the portion was LARGE!!! Bbq was ok, not as moist as I think but it's ok. Service is pretty decent on a busy Friday night. Won't come back again but overall good experience.

Yelp
Came in town for work ended up coming here with my coworker. We waited for about 15 minutes before we were sat. Lots of good options on the menu. our server, Dana had some really good recommendations. Both of us opted for the three meat platters because we wanted to sample some different stuff. We first started with the deviled eggs. These were excellent and they had a little kick to them. Moving onto to the entree I got the chicken, the sausage and the shrimp boil. These were all good choices. Highly recommend the sausage. Just an FYI the shrimp boil comes out cold but our waitress already told us ahead of time. My two sides were the mashed potatoes. They were good, really thick and filling. I also got the baked beans. They were OK nothing super special. The cornbread was good, but it wasn't great. I like it to be a little sweeter. All in all for barbecue in upstate New York not bad. The place was super packed on a Wednesday night probably because it was summer. Our waitress was excellent and provided five star service. in the area, I would come back if I was craving barbecue. Our bill for two people came to $80. That also included two drinks, not bad.

Yelp
Got the chance to check out the Syracuse Dinosaur BBQ location and let me tell you it didn't disappoint! Went there for lunch and there was no wait around 12noon. The service was quick. Staff were friendly. Food was excellent! Filled with flavor and big portions. Great price! Next time you're in Cuse this place is a MUST! The only knock is the limited parking near the restaurant- other than that this place is a 10!

Yelp
I don't give too many 5 stars but the food here deserves it. Absolutely delicious bbq and sides. Waitress was fantastic. If there is any negative thing to say is plan to be here for awhile. Takes awhile to get in, wait and very slow relaxed place. Definitely recommend and will come back.

Yelp
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que is the Rock & Roll bad boy of brisket. Great Q, lots of available beer and Led Zeppelin cranking throughout the restaurant always makes this a fun spot anytime. Once I pulled into Syracuse, I parked on the street across from the restaurant. I walked in during lunch time and was quickly seated. The menu is substantial, I only want one thing that I can't find back on Long Island, a proper Fried Green Tomato. I ordered FGTs with a Brisket sandwich. The FGTs from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que are insane. I'd even go as far as to say better than Magnolia's in Charleston SC. They are that good and a must order. The same with the brisket. I savor that flavor from the meat. The bark is perfect and it's a juicy, tender cut put on two pieces of bread. Now add a side of cole slaw and what you have is a lunch treat that's fun to eat. There are lots of available seating inside and at the bar. The interior has lots of cool art on the walls. It feels almost like an Irish bar but its more BBQ'y, are you feelin' me Yelper? My waitress? Awesome. She always came by to check on me and had her favorite sauce recommendations. Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, thanks for the great meal during my time in Syracuse!

Yelp
I will first start off saying that I have been to Dinosaur BBQ at least a dozen times in my life and every time the food has tasted very very good! However, this was by far the worst experience start to finish that I've ever had. So, to start... when my wife and I show up we go to the hostess and put our name on the list. Ryan, party of 2. The hostess starts to write Brian and I correct her to Ryan. Obviously, no big deal at all... or so you would think. We are told it will be about 20-25 mins. My wife and I cozy up to the bar area and have a couple beers as we wait. 25 minutes goes by and the call "Brian, party of 2". I go up just to double check if they said Ryan or Brian and am assured it was Brian and not Ryan and that we would be soon. 10,20,30 minutes goes by... finally I go up and ask what's going on and I am told "it says we seated you about 30 minutes ago" ‍. So, clearly when they called earlier it was supposed to be Ryan and they said someone else stole the table. Alright, it happens... it sucks but it happens. We sit, we eat, we go home! I then proceed to have violent bouts of throwing up and other stuff that absolutely destroys me for all of Saturday night and most of the day Sunday. I ate the Brisket and Ribs, along with the mac and cheese, beans and coleslaw. Obviously, something I must've had gave me some food poisoning. I was completely fine before I went and about 24-36 hours after I was fine other than being a little weak and sore from throwing up so much! Hopefully, this was just a bad experience overall and a one time thing. We will go back. And try it again at some point and cross our fingers it's a better overall experience.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch after our hotel shuttle driver mentioned it being close to the hotel. We heard it was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives so of course we knew it would be great! We both ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I added a side of mac and cheese while my husband went for the greens. The sandwich was delicious but boy oh boy was the mac and cheese phenomenal. It had a smoky taste to it. I would have skipped the sandwich if I would have known the maf and cheese was going to be so good! Our waitress was quickly and friendly and it looked to have all sorts of portraits and little murals on the walls. I would have liked to walk around inside more to really get a feel for the ambiance and local things.

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing service. Whenever we have a chance to visit the area. Eating here has become a tradition for the family and must place to visit and eat.

Yelp
Had only a 15 minute wait for a table for a Friday night. Waitress was attentive. Flavorful food.
