The Best Restaurants in St. Paul’s Mac-Groveland

"While Coastal Seafoods has long supplied fish and seafood to restaurants across the Midwest, the new cafe and bar in its Snelling Avenue shop has made it a destination for shore-lunch classics, too: beer-battered shrimp in a vinegary Buffalo sauce, blackened fish tacos with cilantro slaw and remoulade, warm buttered lobster piled high on a griddled roll, and lightly battered soft shell crab with thick slices of bacon and tomato on toasted brioche." - Julie Yu

"You’ll find clean eats with a sunny disposition here. Chef Franchesca Nor keeps her fresh seafood-and-veggie-forward fare simple but never, ever boring at this bright and cheery lunch and dinner destination in Highland Park. The super casual, mid-century modern space is a great spot to go with friends and share a few salads, ceviches, and tartares. Or dig into a hearty wrap or sandwich all to yourself. Bonuses: It’s very kid-friendly and practically gluten-free."

Google
I recently visited Dive Coastal with a friend, looking for a place with fresh options and good variety — and we definitely found it. I ordered the kids’ meal with salmon and veggies along with a side of mini dish and chips, and everything was light, flavorful, and satisfying. We happened to stumble in during happy hour, which was a great bonus! We also tried the ahi tuna and the stuffed avocado, both of which were incredibly fresh and well-prepared. Overall, the atmosphere was relaxed, the ingredients were high-quality, and the menu had a lot of choices depending on what you’re craving. A perfect spot if you’re looking for something casual but still want food that feels clean and thoughtfully made. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Google
Really great menu with real healthy ingredients. Francesca has done such a great job! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable as well. Love the artwork and Miami vibes. Will definitely visit more often for lunch. ❤️😊

Google
Great little spot when you’re in the mood for seafood. I had the blackened trout, squash succotash and Brussels sprouts and I couldn’t finish the whole thing in one sitting. Good portions that really hit the spot. I’m looking forward to going back soon.

Update 04/24/25: The steak wrap and shrimp salad were both cooked perfectly and tasted great. The ingredients were fresh and healthy. The service was excellent as usual. It was peak lunch hour so we sat at the bar. Previous Review: Dive delivers fresh and healthy salads, bowls, and wraps. I get Cali vibes when eating there. For an order at the counter restaurant, the service is great. The iced tea options are great. The price feels a tad expensive.

Google
The grilled grouper and artichokes with several dipping sauces were delicious. The seafood tartare came with crunchy plantain chips. The asparagus side was steamed to perfection, still crisp and green. The black beans were tasty. We were lucky with parking arriving at 2:00 on Saturday. The clean interior was cool and seating was comfortable. The one TV had no sound so we enjoyed conversation.

Google
I ordered the grilled chicken wrap, which comes with the plantain chips, and had an unsweetened iced tea. The wrap was out of this world good, and definitely something I would want to eat again. The plantain chips, while slightly less healthy, were also a lot of fun, especially with salt. The tea was okay; it was a bit weak and could be stronger, but fine. Overall though, I would recommend this place for lunch, and try to come a bit early, because it can get busy there.

Google
Interesting menu. Loved the sharables options. Loved the tea choices, sweetener options and the citrus & mint additions. Taco trio choices great. Cod was my favorite. Worked out great for meatless Friday in lent.

Google
This place is so so yummy! I would pay attention when you’re ordering because I ordered one crab sandwich, a drink and two sides and it was $44 😆not including tip. It’s not a grab and go <$25 lunch kind of menu and to me, it was scrumptious so fresh and worth it! I see the reviews with people complaining about the price but that’s on the orderer not the venue. I love seeing local thrive! In any case, if you’re going to go for the crab sandwich like I did that’s what you can expect to pay. I loved it! Next time I would order the tuna wrap, and the crabcakes and get to expand my taste buds. A little bit more. The mushroom side also looked amazing! Here are the pictures I took. Thank you!

Yelp
Not to be dramatic but I think the tuna wrap changed my life. I have been obsessed with wraps lately and now that I have discovered the ahi tuna wrap at dive, I can never go anywhere else.

Yelp
Such a great find for my family and I while out and about shopping. We were leaving West Elm and I went to my trusty Yelp app to search nearby places with salad as I was on a raw cleanse where I could only eat uncooked vegan foods. The plus to this place was that they had a variety of food that my husband and our children could eat. I didn't get the best Welcome as I had to ask if we were able to seat ourselves and if we needed to order before seating and more. I explained that it was our first time and we needed insight and direction. Once I explained, the service improved and our visit became more pleasant. The space is not plentiful but it's great for what it's for inside. There is outdoor seating but it was raining. We had the following across the table: - Curry Shrimp Wrap - Salad Sampler - Kids Tenders - Kids Burrito We all enjoyed our dishes and plan to return
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Enjoyable food and nice fresh taste to seafood. I would say it's a bit too pricey for the amount of food you get. Less than I hoped but still delicious! Nice, cute restaurant and great service! Ordered the Cajun Curry Shrimp!

Yelp
I used to eat at Dive at least once a week until about a two weeks ago. I had ordered the dive wrap for take out and found a plastic kids dog toy in my wrap. I called and told them what I had found and they did refund my order but with zero explanation. I emailed them and gave them a week to respond to with insight into the situation before I posted. Unfortunately I never heard back.... because it's I am confused on why there are toys in the kitchen or how it ended up in my wrap. Attached are pictures of the wrap and my email correspondence. I expected more and was extremely disappointed. **the reason it is in a plastic bag is because I was going to take it up there but didn't want to waste any more of my time since I won't be eating there again.

Yelp
Dive is a casual style eatery that has both tasty cuisine and unique drinks. I had the Dive Grilled Chicken wrap - it was light but flavorful. We also enjoyed some sides and drinks that we were equally satisfied with. I will definitely frequent Dive on my future trips to Dallas.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
The food is a little pricey but oh my gosh the tuna wrap will take you to a new level! It is so so good! Splurge and don't sub out the rice. The sauces are to die for also!
google avatar

Yelp
3.5 My husband and I stopped for lunch. I got the best turkey burger I have ever had in my life. It was freshly made, flavorful and juicy. The burger was huge; definitely enough to share. My husband got the jumbo lump crab sandwich which he thoroughly enjoyed. They don't sell fries. Everything comes with plantain chips. We opted for cilantro rice which was just ok. The drinks were pretty good too. I got the hibiscus margarita and my husband had the hibiscus smash. Also you order at the counter, and they bring you the food.

Yelp
I don't know why I never reviewed this place. I come 1x a week and it's awesome! My absolute favorite casual dining restaurant. The service is awesome the food is always fresh and I can get 2 side with my 5 Oz fish. I usually get steamed broccoli and rice. They cater to me when I need to be ultra clean eating. They will use no oil or butters if asked. If your getting surgery they will cook with no salt for you to heal faster and will make it special for you. Perfect place to eat clean and delicious.

Yelp
Will be back. trifecta of delicious, healthy, and affordable. generous portions. tuna burrito was delicious. surprisingly good bourbon smash. overall chill casual vibes

Yelp
It's not often that I order seafood for delivery - seldom does it turn out well... But, based on an ad in the Katy Trail Weekly, I decided to give Dive Coastal Cuisine (Snider Plaza) a shot. What an OUTSTANDING find! Blackened Redfish - with Caper Buerre Blanc- was perfectly prepared and enjoyed it much more than watching the Rangers over the last few weeks. :-) Broccoli and Baby Spinach sides were excellent and the Black Beans are absolutely to-die-for. For something a little different, I'd recommend the Stuffed Avocados. I was so impressed that I ordered on consecutive nights. Can't remember the last time I did that... I'll provide another update after visiting in-person and sampling their margaritas. Great job guys!

Yelp
When Dive first opened, it was something new. Fresh seafood, done right in a new super casual, inventive "order at the counter" kind of vibe. The design was cool, the art was cool. Then. Something happened. It got lazy. The food still looked good, but it wasn't any good. So bad, that you knew if you said this food is just bad, that you'd get the stink eye from management. So I forgot about Dive for a while. Maybe a year or two. I gave it another shot last week. Well, it still sucks. Shame on me. If you want great seafood, go to Rex's. Same money, 100 times better

Jennifer J.

Yelp
We love Dive Coastal - the food is fantastic, great selection that always gets us excited. We always order for pickup and the packaging of the order is perfect. Drinks to go, too!

Yelp
Coastal cuisine spot in Snider Plaza. The reason for the 3 star is simply because of the prices. The food yes does come out fresh with lots of options for seafood wraps, salads, and tacos, but an average cost of $17 per person can be pretty rough. Just couldn't justify it for a quick carryout lunch with no waiter service. :/ I ordered the taco trio today (mahi mahi, blackened salmon, and shrimp). Pro tip: ask them to make the shrimp crispy! The crunch mixed with the lime ranch salsa they add to the taco makes for a great mix! They do have a crispy cod as an option so I'd try that instead of the mahi if I go again. Husband got the ahi tuna wrap, which he thought was good but again, way overpriced. We'd love to be loyal patrons here if they ever decide to run consistent specials.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but it's overpriced and underwhelming. Lunch for 2 people cost us $75 for 2 tuna wraps and a ceviche appetizer.

Kate S.

Yelp
I ordered my food for delivery today, the chicken was mostly burned, making a whole wrap taste burnt. The plantain chips were also under seasoned. A bit frustrating to pay so much for his quality.
google avatar

Jacob M.

Yelp
Unique and tasty food with an enjoyable Ambiance. The staff are friendly and the service is great. Good place to take a date.
google avatar

Mary Ellen C.

Yelp
Quirky, unassuming atmosphere; well prepared and very fresh seafood and salads. Worth going to!
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
Delicious ahi tuna wrap and the plantain chips were to die for! Definitely would recommend and will be back again!
google avatar

Chelsea O.

Yelp
I still think about the Hearts of Palm salad. I met a friend here for lunch and that's what she recommended. Not something I would have picked myself but WOW. Super fresh. Very large portion. Would order again.
google avatar

Trisha M.

Yelp
Wanted to like this spot, but it struggled to impress, at least by my meal. I ordered the mahi mahi with spinach and cauliflower hash - which by the way, the hash was just actually just pieces of cauliflower, not hash. A bit misleading there. The spinach was salty, very salty. The cauliflower seemed partially undercooked. It just depended on the bite. The mahi mahi, it need more than a sauce to make it taste good. I tried the tartar that it came with (even though I requested chimichurri), it didn't help. I eventually got up and asked for chimichurri which was very heavy on the olive oil. The best part of the meal was the stuffed avocado. Not sure if this place is worth the price.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
We wanted to try something different, but we knew we wanted seafood, so we decided to try this place on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We wanted to keep the meal as light as possible, so we ordered the Jack Knife Tartare, the Grilled Stuffed Avocado, and the Grilled Artichokes. Unfortunately they don't have calorie counts listed on their menus, so if you are counting calories just eat light here, or less of it, haha. Out of the Tartare and Stuffed Avocado the Stuffed Avocado was a better dish. They have some really good teas as well. They also have outdoor seating. We'll probably be back.

Robert D.

Yelp
Fish and chips sucked ass. The plantain chips and the service is good. There's probably a 63% chance I end up with food poising after the fish and chips. Probably will never be back.
google avatar

Annabelle M.

Yelp
This meal was $23. So beyond overpriced and food was average at best. Don't waste your time going here it's ridiculously expensive and not worth it AT ALL!
google avatar

Cynthia F.

Yelp
Felt like a cheap up sell in an extremely loud environment. When we order a salad and said we would share he suddenly said oh two salads split 3 ways. We were in shock we just went with it. The risotto special was $25 more than the regular risotto on the menu. It felt like a cheap night club with loud drunk and inappropriate girls around me not a sit down restaurant The words and language that came out of their mouth no one should have to listen to. Not the experience I was looking for in a Birthday dinner especially for the price.
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Met some friends for dinner last night. Got the fish and chips; I didn't realize that a fried meal could be so chewy, the cod was either overcooked or not so fresh and the plantain chips - just ewww; the 'red white vinegar slaw' was a joke, it was dried shredded carrots and cabbage. We also ordered the Del Mar Taco Trio and chose the Crispy Cod, Spicy Shrimp and Grilled Mahi. The cod was consistently chewy and it would be hard to refer to these as tacos since the corn tortillas became a soggy mess and most of the meal had to be eaten with a fork. Glad you guys have a solid customer base, we won't be returning.

V Y.

Yelp
delish....fresh... great margarita with tagine I live in plano..will travel there again.. Churlish are absolutely delish.. Will have a wrap next time.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! The staff is always kind and helpful. The restaurant is clean, has a wonderful California feel and don't even get me started on the food! It's so good the grab cakes are a must, the turkey burger is the perfect combo of light and dark meat. The teas are absolutely delicious! And the desserts omg they're great!
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
This place is good but if you are going to be closed for a holiday yiu need to make sure your website and voice mail reflect that!! Frustrating.
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Be careful. Look at your receipt before you pay. I was overcharged for a side dish and not given a chance to review the charges before paying. This is a sneaky way to steal from their customers.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a Groupon so the wife and I decided to try this place for lunch on a Saturday. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table but the feeling is casual upscale. We opted for fish tacos (you can choose from either "land" or "sea"). Land tacos are from animals with legs that walk on land. Sea tacos are fish. You choose three proteins (3 tacos) for $15. It seems like a lot in a city with hundreds of cheap tacos, but the quality is good. I got the tuna, spicy shrimp, and ginger soy white fish that I thought he said cod but it tasted like salmon. It comes with three sauces, all of which are excellent. The red sauce is smoky and spicy and my favorite, but the salsa verde is good too. I really enjoyed the tacos and was stuffed by the end of the meal. The cashier said the fish was all wild caught but who really knows. I hope he was right. The one blip is that the wife's shrimp tacos tasted too strong of fish so she did not eat it in fear of getting sick. But she didn't. I got the shrimp tacos too and thought they were fine. We started with hummus and it looks strange but is really flavorful ($6). And SPICY. I tasted lots of garlic and some smoked sesame oil. The texture is unusual but the flavor is excellent. It's enough for 2 to share easily. It comes with some cracker-like bread and some pita, plus some carrots and cucumbers on the side. Really good. We both really liked this place and look forward to our return.

Marina S.

Yelp
Seriously. You cannot go wrong with anything on this menu. The flavors are delicious. The food is always super fresh. The balance of flavor is on point. My favs include crab cakes, grilled artichokes, tuna wrap, and the dive surf n turf is my go too. Great kids meals too!
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Insanely fresh and wonderful seafood in a quick and casual environment. Friendly local ownership and staff.
google avatar

Kendahl A.

Yelp
The food is always on point and fresh! Staff is amazing. Atmosphere is relaxed but nice.

Gracie P.

Yelp
Dishes ordered: Jackknife tar tar, Ahi tuna burger, surf and turf. Holy YUM, the tar tar was so fresh, bright and packed with meat. Plantain chips that were served along side were delicious, thick cut and lightly fried. Would get again, if there weren't so many other great options to try haha! Ahi tuna burger was HUGE! My bf had to take home half, I swear it was an inch thick. Was cooked perfectly, beautiful pink interior. I am unsure what his sides were, but there were no complaints on any dish. Surf and Turf was so so yummy! Steak was tender and flavorful, shrimp weren't overcooked (I wish they didn't have the tails, but that's me). I wasn't the biggest fan of the beans, but my bf loved them. The rice, however, was great - nice and fluffy with good flavor. Yes, it's pricy for lunch but you get what you pay for!
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Excellent service!! The staff were very friendly and helpful in making menu decisions, and also with clearing tables and checking on my friend and I! Would go back for the service alone---the Tuna wrap is also delicious!

Yelp
I absolutely love Dive, the best wraps in all of Dallas!! I order pickup and delivery often from Dive and it's always perfect. The plantain chips are incredible as well, it's one of the first spots I think of to take friends from out of town when we want something quick and on the road, it's always a huge hit!

Yelp
Dive Coastal Cuisine is beautifully designed and has a terrific menu; but as pricey as it is I would like to have been pampered a little more. There is a long work counter that faces you as you enter with a small opening where you place your order. Above your head, next to the ceiling and paralleling the counter is the long permanent menu and about midway at eye level is a small Daily Specials Board. You have to travel this long menu to check it out. None of this menu information is even near where you order, so have your order together or you're doomed. I was offered a menu to look at after we had already decided what we wanted - so ask for one if you can. The place was packed on this Saturday before basketball game time at SMU and very loud. Most of the interior seating is to the left side; but there was a high table and chairs on the right by the comfortable front door waiting area and unoccupied, so we sat there. It was much quieter. There are a few umbrella-ed high tables out front. Dive Coastal Cuisine gives you a number after you order and brings your food to your table when it's ready. There's a very nice self serve ice tea and soft drink beverage area with lime, lemon, orange slices and mint for your drinks. I ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab BLT on honeyberry wheat bread and it was just plain delicious. Sweet crab with tomato, red onion, and a writhing mass of micro lettuce with a tangy tartar sauce and crispy bacon; unfortunately the bread was sliced too thick. It had been toasted and made for some very dense eating and was difficult to get my mouth around. The sandwich was accompanied by well seasoned plantain chips and I requested some salsa verde. Perfect! ~ $17 My husband had the Ahi Tuna Burger. Covered in a giant mess of arugula, it was very good. A little under seasoned itself; the large ground tuna patty came with a yummy ponzu sauce and a wasabi aioli with tomato and avocado spread on the Brioche bun. He asked for some coleslaw and although pretty, he said it was tasteless. ~ $14 + the coleslaw Service was very gracious here, all in all. Even the bus boys were friendly and helpful. At no time though, were dishes cleared from our table while we were eating. Even though we hung out for a little while after the chaotic environment around us went from bustling to a ghost town, the pile of dishes still sat. I wouldn't say it was a 5 star experience. For $36, I would say it's overpriced for basically self service in a nice place. But hey, it's Snider Plaza. It's University Park.

Yelp
I went here for the first time with my family and was delightfully surprised. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was really cool. My wife and I both had the hibiscus margaritas which were fantastic. Our kids really enjoyed the kids meals which were large and filled them up well. I highly recommend Dive and will be back.

Yelp
‼‼‼ATTENTION: dive creates their own tips! I have been here at least 50 times because the food is great! However, it is pretty pricey and when I order takeout I tip but not as much as I would if I were sitting down obviously and they will always add additional tip than what I put. They have done this to my friends too. For example, if the total was 50 at takeout I would tip 5 for takeout. When I check my credit card statement, I would have been charged 60. While this is not a huge deal as it is only $5. Creating whatever tip they want is never ok. When I confronted them about it, they denied ever doing that even though it has happened many times. Take a picture of your receipt after adding the tip!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in Dallas with great customer service. The food is great, and I would call it a high-quality fast casual restaurant. It's very casual and the decor is fun. A little pricy, but that doesn't seem to stop many people here. The seared ahi tuna wrap is a must get along with the Kauai quinoa bowl.
google avatar

Angela T.

Yelp
This is one of our frequent weekend lunch spots. Crab BLT is a favorite. Also love the salads.
google avatar

Cinthy R.

Yelp
Delicious sea food with a twist, delicate flavors that enchant any palate, lovely and relaxed atmosphere and the service is amazing. I could eat here everyday .

Jim J.

Yelp
Worst fish and chips. Way over fried, Not real chips, plantain chips tasted old.... No one there really cared

Lizzie M.

Yelp
Dive is great. The restaurant is clean and has a pleasant and cute atmosphere inside. I went for dinner, and I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna Wrap. The sweet chili and ponzu sauce that the wrap comes with seal its greatness. I love the plantain chips served with it as well! It is an excellent spot for lunch or dinner.

Susan P.

Yelp
Even though the staff were very nice and some of the items were good, I could never go back because the sewage smell from the bathroom was horrendous and the Asian Kale salad tasted really off. Too bad.
google avatar

Lora C.

Yelp
Came for lunch today and let the cashier know my daughter had a fish and nut allergy and to please make sure the kitchen knows. She said ok. Her bbq sandwich came with the chips we opted for when asked if she wanted fruit or chips. I noticed they're plantain chips and looked to be homemade. So I went up and asked and she said yes they do make them there and use the same fryers as they do for their fish. This is why I told you about the allergy to begin with. This is reckless and irresponsible behavior by the employees here. Will never be back since they don't take life threatening allergies seriously. Do better. Inexcusable.

Yelp
Was searching for a relaxed, casual restaurant with light seafood fare and found this one during my "Yelp" search. At first after walking in I was thrown off as you order at the counter and take a number for your table so the server can deliver your meal. We were very pleased with the delicious food, had the fish tacos and another had the tuna melt. Neither one was ordinary, each dish had a very inventive and tasteful flavor. The homemade horseradish relish with sprouts on the tuna melt was an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The jicama slaw on the fish tacos was a perfect not too mayonnaise so the cabbage had a crisp texture and complimented the cod, tuna and shrimp selections. Family friendly and a good place to relax with family or friends. Defiantly recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and impeccably fresh seafood prepared with great skill and attention to detail await you here, on the edge of Snider Plaza near SMU. We lived in corpus for several years, and have expectations about fresh fish, and especially Gulf seafood. No fake red snapper or Chinese shrimp fo is, thank you very much -- and the same can be said for the chef here. Every ingredient is as described and points of origin for the fish and shellfish are clearly and accurately described. That makes a difference, folks. You want to get what you are paying for. We recommend the fish and preparation of the day very highly. It changes frequently and once sold out, its out. We love this because it is so connected to the freshest available product in the market. The elegant decor is reminiscent of breezy oceanside seafood shackles without the run-downiness. Various flavors of infused teas show that this place takes care to add some delightful chef-y oomph to everything they do - and the result is a delightful meal. I had the grilled Gulf red snapper with the squash hash - absolutely delicious and a generous portion. I'll get this again if they have it when I'm there. My husband had the grilled salmon with the roasted Brussels sprouts - also impeccably fresh and perfectly prepared. I apologize for not taking photos - I guess that means I'll have to come back! Shucky darn! 5 our new fave seafood restaurant stars

Yelp
This Snider Plaza bistro features five-star seafood and fresh fare in a casual setting. Our party of three arrived famished and ordered heartily starting with two specials from the seasonal menu -- a refreshing gazpacho with a chopped crab surprise at the bottom of the bowl, and a fresh tomato and basil bruschetta. Both were amazing! For our mains we had the Jumbo Lump Crab BLT, the Tuna Melt and the Del Mar Taco Trio. The sandwiches were HUGE and could easily have been split. Both came with tasty plantain chips. We finished the meal by sharing a GIANT banana split. Yes we over-ordered (did I mention that we were starving?) and we ended up taking two sandwich halves home, but it was great to get a wider sampling of their extensive menu. Next time I might try the salad trio where you can choose three from nine salad options. I'm also looking forward to trying the striped bass ceviche. Thank you Dive for a fantastic lunch (and dinner). I'll see you again soon!
