Looking to try some wines from the Portland area, I had found Division Wines in my search for wineries in the area, so my partner and I decided to go check it out.
First off, Division Wines not only is a wine bar, but it has a large selection of wines for people to purchase in their market. These wines include wines from all over the world. I can imagine that if I lived in the area, this would definitely be a stop to pick up a bottle for dinner!
Along with the market, there is a bar and some small table seating for a glass of wine or for a flight. The flight includes 3 glasses of wine of your choosing from their wine list. My partner and I sat down at the bar and perused the menu. While this happened, the one person who was working was helping out a customer who had questions about their bottles of wine. Once the bartender came to us, he was incredibly nice and was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. We opted for wine flights, and I had asked the bartender for some of his favorites. I ended up getting an Oregon white wine, a Hungarian white wine, and an Italian red. All were good and unique.
After our wines were poured, the bartender left to empty some boxes of wine throughout our experience. He would check in periodically asking "how are you guys doing?" but then would continue emptying boxes. Although I am sure it's his job, we had just wished he was around more because he was so knowledgeable about the wines and we wish we could have talked to him more, especially since we were the only ones at the bar.
In general, this was a cool spot, especially if you live locally to pick up unique bottles of wine. I just wish there was a little more of a vibe and interaction with staff while we were there.
