One of my top favorite meals of all time! Service was amazing - Celeste was attentive without being too nosy. She catered to our entire meal with perfect timing of check-ins. The food was so good. Every request for done was was followed to the letter. Well done to the chefs for presentation as well. Drinks were delicious. Wine and drinks were perfectly paired. We sat outside on the patio and it was beautiful weather. Atmosphere is relaxing. When I'm back in San Diego again, I'm going back!

I stayed at Bahia for a work offsite and dined at their restaurant three times. Situated right by the private beach, the restaurant and bar offer stunning views of the bay. There’s plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, with heaters available to keep you warm on cooler evenings. The food was quite good overall. I ordered the Morning Bowl twice as a healthier option and really enjoyed it. That said, service was a bit slow—my meal took about 30 minutes to arrive, and oddly, my colleague received his bill before his food. While the server seemed a bit confused by the situation, they were courteous and quickly checked in with the kitchen to sort things out. On one visit, I also tried their tequila-based Bramble cocktail from the full bar inside—it was excellent! While I’m not sure I’d return unless I was staying on the property and had room credit, it’s definitely a solid dining option if you’re at the resort.

I loved the atmosphere and ambiance especially having the dock view!! Unfortunately the food I ordered didn’t taste like much, very bland and no flavor only thing I enjoyed was the fruit. I had the fish tacos and a crab roll. I’d probably try other food items if I ever go again. The service was amazing though 10/10.

I celebrated my birthday today here and I had the best time. The waiter Celeste was amazing, very kind and sweet, the food was fabulous, an order the salmon and it was delicious, and the main tai drink was wonderful. I had a romantic dinner with fire place and a beautiful view. I am definitely coming back. I love it… I would give 10 stars…

Dockside 1953 is an absolute gem! The waterfront views create the perfect ambiance, and the service is exceptional—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the Eggs Benedict was perfectly cooked, and the mimosa flight was such a fun touch with great flavors. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Whether you’re coming for brunch, dinner, or just drinks, this place is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
Amazing view at the patio, very good food with gorgeous presentation and great service. Also with the firepit and the multiple heathers even during a cold night you don't even feel it. Really nice ambience!

Google
I came here after searching for the best omelette in San Diego. The location and service was great as were the eggs. But at $25+ an omelette I expected the potatoes to not be hard and the avocado to not be hard as well. They should really try their food before sending it out the kitchen. For the price I really expected something as basic as potatoes to be done properly. Also the pancakes were doughy inside. So overall only the overpriced omelette was good, everything else was a miss.

Google
We had dinner at Dockside 1953 with our family on a Sunday evening. The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was friendly, and we were seated right away without any wait, which was definitely a plus. We ordered burgers — they were tasty and cooked well. The view from the restaurant is lovely and adds a nice touch to the overall experience. That said, while everything was good, I wouldn’t say it was anything particularly memorable or special. It’s a nice place to try once, but not necessarily somewhere I’d feel the need to return to.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel and wanted to try this restaurant. Well we were not disappointed the food was so good!!!! It is pricey and the service was off but the food was well worth the cost. The drinks were well made we had a great view of the bay and the food was really good. We will definitely rely be back to try out some different menu options when we are in the area.

Yelp
I had an overall great night and dinner here at Dockside 1953. I opted to get their $45 Prime Rib Special at the time, which came with a salad, the prime rib, and a cheesecake for dessert. A lot of food at a decently good price, considering the ambience. As for the food itself, I enjoyed it for the most part. The caesar salad was a refreshing start to the meal, a bit bland but the cheese and croutons helped. The prime rib entree which I ordered medium rare was tasty! Well seasoned and pretty juicy. Love the broccolini on the side as well, but the baked potato had no flavor. The cheesecake for dessert was creamy and a nice finish to the meal! I really enjoyed the ambience here. On Thursdays there is a live performance. Definitely try to reserve a seat outside if you can so you get to watch the sunset by the dock. So beautiful, and the fire pit at our table kept us warm once the sun had set. I will say the seating arrangement made it hard to make conversation with the people who sit across you because they are too far. Also, our food came out after a ridiculously long time. Service was good but slow.

Yelp
Absolutely bloody terrible what a rip off. I have 35 years of being a MasterChef and a top ranking establishment I can tell 100% when something comes out of a microwave and that's where our food come from I looked the waitress in the eyes and flat out asked not to lie to me to be straight She had admitted and agreed with me. It was microwaved heated as they like to call it. For the price is your charging you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself as a restaurant Don't waste your money here go to Albertsons yeah and buy a frozen meal and stick it in the microwave. Same thing. I challenged the restaurant to say I'm not telling the truth. I videotaped her talking to me. Come 1953 take me up

Yelp
Beautiful place with amazing food and great service.. We visited over Christmas and we couldn't have asked for more.

Yelp
Mixed bag. I can highly recommend Dockside for breakfast. The menu is diverse and the food neared perfection. I tried the mushroom + sausage omlette and asked for a side of hollendaise. The server said "wow that's new! let me know how it tastes!" It was so delicious. The service was also spectacular. It was my wife's birthday so the front desk hooked us up with free breakfast coupons. She treated us like VIPS. While breakfast was free we of course left a nicely sized tip. Lunch was rough. The waitress was slow and the food was not nearly as good. I will say my clam chowder was excellent, but my wife's cesar salad and my burger were barely edible. Very curious how dinner is. The venue is beautiful. Bay beach side, fire pits, high celings. Its awesome. Bar is nicely stocked too. I saw mcallan 18 sitting up there - that's fancy.

Yelp
This is such a beautiful restaurant with a waterfront view . Came here with my Wife and our Little dog . The staff are very welcoming to us and very sweet to our dog . Since we are still in the window time frame of their Breakfast and also 15 minuites left and they will start serving Lunch, they gave us a Breakfast Menu and a Lunch Menu . We ordered from the Lunch menu since there's more selection from it . The meal that i had was the AHI POKE BOWL , decent size , fresh and had a very delicious sauce . The rest of our food was also delicious , didn't get the chance to taste our dessert , but it was probably good too because my wife took the whole plate and forgot to offer me some :D We will be back soon to try their Dinner Menu and to see how this place is at night .

Yelp
The food was okay. It wasn't anything to write home about. The tacos were decent (good meat) but not filling enough. My wife had a burger and she said it was a bit bland but it was filling. The service was pretty good. Better than 3 stars but I couldn't rate it 4 stars if I were being totally honest.

Yelp
Great food and great ambiance! Service is always friendly and quick. We love the fish and crab cakes and their marinara for the pasta.

Yelp
Staff is awesome so accommodating and personable. They catered to my 83 year old father. Although we were there for dinner they allowed him to order off of the lunch menu. One of my brothers and I shared a half dozen oysters. Very fresh and tasty could've eaten another dozen. The other brother and I shared the sea bass and risotto most excellent dish. Sea bass was perfect as was the risotto. The bass was juicy and seasoned perfectly and the risotto was tender and tasty very savory and the fresno chili relish was perfect. Thank you for making this evening great.

Yelp
We stayed at the Bahia resort it's connected to. Came in with 3 children We had a slew of problems at this establishment, and with the 4-5 other tables who were yelling about service and sending their food back we can see why. 1. We came 10 minutes before our reservation at 8:30. Sat down 8:25. Didn't get to order until 8:55. 30 mins waiting, and I knew the server had forgotten about us when she took a second glass like oh shoot. So people who sat after us got their meals before we even got our drinks. 2. Forgot our drink order, not once, but twice, then got it wrong both times. Asked for a root beer, she asked adult? We assume adult size considering we have 3 kids. Comes alcoholic blended and my children drank a sip. Had to ask for it because she had forgot 20 mins later. Ordered a whiskey ginger ale, also forgot about it 20 mins later. Then it comes out whiskey on the rocks. By then I was livid and I just wanted a drink. 3. They delivered the wrong tables food to us twice. After the food runners are asking others what table this is. 4. A couple tables sent all their food back next to us, barely touched. Others had walked out because their entrees and desserts took 45+ mins yelling at their server at the front. 5. Food is horrible. Prime rib came out well done when ordered med rare, as all prime rib should come. No aju, no horseradish, just an overcooked steak and at $67 for a 18 oz. Cesar no salt no pepper and very little dressing. Baked potato was steamed and mushy with a McDonald's medallion size butter and nothing else. Chilled Lobster smelled rotten and the peeled meat was sticky slippery. Crab cakes were not good as well. 6. Server forgot the other shareable plate that we ordered, even when repeating the order back to us. Seems like management is non existent. Nobody checks to see how you are doing and there is no accountability. When you look at staff there are just people texting on their phones in the front area. Hands down top 3 worst restaurant we have ever dined at. This place is a mess all around. Which is a shame because the resort is nice and everyone here at the resort is great.

Yelp
We had breakfast here this morning, everything tasted really good. I was disappointed because I ordered the $19 croissant sandwich meal but they were out of croissants so I got regular bread, still enjoyed it, but why charge me $19 still? Haha anyways it was still overall good and the view was so beautiful

Yelp
Dockside 1953 at Bahia Resort Hotel is a total vibe! Had the Ahi Poke Bowl and Hibiscus Margarita--both were bomb! The poke was fresh and flavorful, and the margarita had this awesome hibiscus twist that hit the spot. Plus, the views of Mission Bay are unreal. Perfect spot for chill vibes and good eats. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I visited this area before when we attended a Party, then we saw this place called "DOCKSIDE 1953". We decided to finally try this place and I wish I visited this restaurant sooner because the place is very relaxing with a beautiful water view. We came for Breakfast, but I decided to wait for Lunch. While waiting, we got seated outdoors as I requested since we have our Dog with us, and it was perfect! We sat and had a beautiful view with a fire pit . I love it! Exactly at Lunchtime our server came and chatted with us for a bit, they love our dog Bambam :) I ordered our drinks first. We got COFFEE for my Husband and TEA for me. After warming up our Bellies, we ordered: *PROSCIUTTO & BRIE FLATBREAD *AHI POKE BOWL *MEAT & CHEESE BOARD *HIBISCUS MARGARITA * KEY LIME TART Our food came fast and they were very nice to include a water bowl for our dog too. The MEAT & CHEESE BOARD was good, everything on it was all fresh. Our Dog Bambam ate a lot of meat from the board :) My Husband's AHI POKE BOWL was delicious, especially since it has a light sweetness and spiciness to the sauce. My PROSCIUTTO & BRIE FLATBREAD was good, with lots of prosciutto on it. My HIBISCUS MARGARITA was smooth and very good. For dessert, I ordered the KEY LIME TART and I devoured the dessert on my own ;) My Husband just used the restroom and when he came back there was no more dessert for him to try, I finished it all ;) I was very satisfied with our visit here, we are going back here soon to dine with our Son, coz our son was at School when we visited. Good Food, Beautiful view, Pet Friendly, and Excellent service.

Yelp
My partner and I had a wonderful time here. The service was the most uniformly great of any place I've been to in recent memory, both at brunch and dinner. The food was very good too, and prepared with care. I had the rosemary ham eggs Benedict and we both had the squash soup, as well as drinks. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful scenery. Really good live music. Food was great. Service too. Easily one of my new favorite restaurants. Will definitely revisit whenever possible. Had the seafood tower, prime rib, and children's pizza. Everything was delicious. Oysters were sweet and fresh. Highly recommend. Dined here on a Thursday and Kahlil Nash was performing. Loved it.

Yelp
We are visiting from out of town. We found this place on Yelp while I was being a passenger and quickly found this place close to our Airbnb. Food was mediocre. It was a party of 9 (6 adults 6 yr old, 3 yr old, & 1 1/2 yrs old). But it was just me, my husband, and 6 yr old for this review. We got the everything sourdough bread. It was ok. Nothing to rave about. The clam chowder was good. It was chunky potatoes, clams, and bacon. The ceviche was not good to me. I've never had this kind of ceviche. Then we got the scallops and those were delicious, cooked right, not rough or chewy. Not sure about the corn stuff around it. My 6 year old got the cheese pepperoni kids pizza. He said he gives it 6 out of 10. He didn't like the dough. He got chocolate milk and we just got water. All of that for over $110, that's with the service fee. The service was great. The waiter accommodated my son for his pizza not being on time, and gave him free fries. He was patient dealing with us. Answered all our questions.
google avatar

Jenni C.

Yelp
We went here because we wanted an ocean front view and some good food. The view was amazing and it was a great spot to take kids to because if you sit on the patio the kids can run around on the shore and play in the sand while you wait for your food. The menu was very limited and didn't have a lot to offer for picky eaters. The biggest downside - it took forever. The service was slow and the kitchen was even slower. I

Yelp
Just as important as the food the cocktails! Unfortunately, I was disappointed when ordering a Martini with a splash of cranberry. Very small portion. On your paying $17 a cocktail you want a full martini! I had to order a double in order to get a regular size $26. Give you a guess a martini when asked! Glass not even full!

Theresa C.

Yelp
Dined for dinner when we had our vacation in San Diego The Hostess was very welcoming! Our waitress was Kelly, she was polite, smiled all the time, checked on us frequently. My daughter ordered the Seabass dish, she liked it, creamy. My son enjoyed his steak, tender and juicy. I ordered the Shrimp Arrabbiata. Unfortunately, I didn't finish it, I just ate the shrimp. Too spicy for me Overall, it was a good experience. $40 for a pasta dish is a little pricey.
google avatar

Crystal M.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my moms birthday, and this was a wonderful experience. The view on the outside patio is beautiful & very comfortable with the fire pit. There is other seating besides the fire pit as well. There was a little issue with my mom's pasta being too spicy (she is very sensitive to spice) and they fixed it right away and the manager even came by to apologize for the mishap. I would definitely come back here and recommend this place for a nice place to eat. Thank you to the crew & mananger that night!
google avatar

Yelp
This is hands-down one of the best restaurants that I have been to in the San Diego area. The food was so tasty and delicious. The temperature on the food was amazing. The drinks were outstanding. The service was incredible. The ambience was perfect. The view was beautiful. We were able to watch the sunset while we had dinner and it was beautiful, it was so peaceful. I loved every minute of it. Our server Krystal was one of the best servers ever!! We even took a picture with her. Definitely come by and have a nice meal.
google avatar

Natasha J.

Yelp
Everything here was great, from the service to the scene. We made a reservation for Valentine's Day and requested to sit outside so we could watch the sunset. We were greeted by happy staff who gave recommendations on the wine list based on our food decisions. It was a special prepared dinner list for the holiday, and the braised short ribs were my favorite. Everything was delicious and the portions were great. Will definitely be coming back for date night!
google avatar

Brandon A.

Yelp
Such an awesome experience. From the bartender to the wait staff, we loved our time at Dockside 1953. They have all the fixings for a wonderful meal and nightcap. Their outdoor patio with fireplace tabling is relaxing after a long day. I was even able to get one of my favorite Lodi wines from Michael David Winery in SD! We will return for more during our stay at Bahia Resort Hotel.
google avatar

Kristen M.

Yelp
Happy to find a great outside spot during a recent training nearby. I enjoyed the carne asada tacos more than the burger. Colleagues raved about the poke bowl, fish tacos, and the oysters (there is a deal on Monday's). The restaurant was well staffed and helped us get back to our meeting within our time frame
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
I came in a party of 16 for a bachelorette party. We were able to get 2 tables squeezed together and a heater outside. The ambiance is just astounding, the lights on the pathway near the water is magical. Perfect date night with your partner or your friends. The drinks were soooo delicious! I ordered the rum punch and the passion fruit spritz and that one took me to Italy. Everyone loved my cocktails and followed my lead. I'm sure any cocktail they make is perfect. I ordered the oyster sampler and it was good! They were small and not on the big and juicy side. For dessert I got the pavlova since I'm a parent and watch bluey haha! It was not to my liking. Sara was our server and she killed it!! We loved Sara so much. Thank you for taking care of us!
google avatar

Sha M.

Yelp
We went on Valentine's Day (for my husband's birthday, though). I booked reservations midday thinking it would be packed by then. I was shocked to have arrived an hour earlier than my reservation & be able to be seated outside where we could see the water like we wanted. Service was amazing. Super friendly & attentive. Enjoyed chatting with our server. Even the expediter running food was amazing. Food was great. Had poke, fish tacos & ceviche for starter. Our drinks were refreshing. Got the birthday VIP treatment that day, which was a really lovely surprise! Would definitely go again!
google avatar

Sheila C.

Yelp
Great place for an afternoon drink, dinner or an early morning breakfast. Great view of the marina, the Bahia Bell and the bay. Service with a smile and pretty timely as well. There are a wide variety of drinks, all with sound amazing. The margarita of the day was really good. We order a variety of apps and none disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food special night for halloween. We order chilled lobster and martinis. A beautiful sunset.. yeah we got the good stuff I'm on Halloween 2023. Everything looks really great and we are having a great time at sunset which is 6 PM on October 31 which is Halloween and we give Buyea dockside 1953 five stars
google avatar

P T.

Yelp
Tucked away in the Bahia Hotel, this hidden gem has better than average food, and if you sit outside the fire pits and view of Mission Bay are great backdrop for a meal or drinks.
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
I ordered this food to go back to my hotel room, so consider this with my review! It will be solely based on food. The food here in my opinion was very lacking from the two dishes I ordered. The first of which was the scallops. For the price of it, I had definitely expected more than just three, and the quality felt very poor to me. The scallops were VERY fishy and did not have the smooth buttery texture I wanted, and instead was incredibly rubbery. The second dish was the margherita flatbread pizza. The quality was also not there, felt very elementary and seemed like something I would make at home (which is not a good sign)

Yelp
I was so sad. I picked to come here for Mother's Day as they had some healthy options on the menu and I am dieting... and this was a disappointment. Arrived at 5:30 for 5:45 reservation. Seated right away by the manager who was super friendly. 5 stars to him. It went downhill from there. We ordered bread service... excited it was sourdough, 10 minutes later he came back to tell us they are out of bread.... HOW? It's 5:30 on Mother's Day !!! I ordered the sea bass. I subbed the risotto for the char broccolini... TOTAL fail. The broccoli was covered in some kind of oil Vs being char grilled. That broccoli never saw a grill. It was wet!! I didn't get butter on the sea bass and it was sooo DRY. I had to apply a lot of pressure to the knife to get through it. I ate about 30% and gave up. Husband got the shrimp pasta dish. Nothing to write home about. Good quantity but the shrimp had tails left on which since it is sauced you can't see until you bite into it. Kiddo got mac and cheese from kids menu. Just average mac and cheese and pretty small serving. Great views and ambiance. With a new menu and better service we might try again. Not very likely though. In general the service by our server was super slow. He was nice, but too slow. At the end we waited over 10 minutes. I was out of water my husband was out of tea and we were ready to go. My husband had to get up to go find someone. They need Lots of tweaks to match the deep prices on their menu.
google avatar

Katherina V.

Yelp
Great view, amazing service. Food was just...ok. My tacos were hard. They were soft tacos...

Beth W.

Yelp
Came to try because we had a promotion deal. The view, the ambience, the servers were wonderful. We had a Trio Sliders and the crab cake as appetizers. Nothing stood out to us with the slides and the crab cake was good but pricey for the size. For main course, we had a Seared salmon and a Seabass. Protein portion were tasty; however, the rice and the quinoa under the fish, were very sour and we couldn't eat them, and they came out luke warm... Again they were quite expensive. The best highlight of the dinner was the coffee cheesecake. The dessert was the reason for the additional star.

Amber G.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service is excellent! The view is incredible. My husband and I had a view of the harbor and it was so romantic. The ambience was so great. Highly recommend this amazing place.
google avatar

Karen H.

Yelp
So delicious!! So I guess I have a general bias for 'restaurant with a view' because I assume going in I'm paying for the view and not for the food. But I'm so wrong for this! The food was great! Everything we ordered was very nice and balanced. Goes so well with a glass of wine or two. Employees were nice. The restaurant is part of a hotel so you have to park in their hotel parking lot. Outdoor seating is even nicer! Highly recommended!

Lee M.

Yelp
I think our waitress was named Kaylie. She was great! The food was excellent. Pricey, but that's to be expected. The view was gorgeous. I told them it was my friend's birthday and several people wished her a happy birthday. Very special!
google avatar

Kerri F.

Yelp
Our last night at the Bahia and we had a spectacular dinner. The prosciutto flatbread was to die for. Keylime tart for dessert was impeccable. Above and beyond server, Kelley tended to our every need and took such good care of us. She was super friendly and kind to every table she encountered.
google avatar

Carolina G.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday evening and reservations are strongly encouraged. I had the shrimp Arrabbiata it was very spicy and inedible. Did not enjoy it. Then ordered a chocolate cake for dessert and enjoyed it better than the dinner entree. Our server Krystal was nice and attentive.
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
We walked here after a long morning at SeaWorld and it was an ideal stop! Ethan was our server and was incredible. He was extremely knowledgeable while also willing to double check with the kitchen to get the exact information we needed. His recommendations were very helpful and he was just a delight to be around. The tuna salad melt sandwich and fries were delicious! My husband even remarked it was the best tuna sandwich he has ever had. We sat outside on the patio and the ambiance was relaxing with a great view of the bay.

Yelp
This restaurant at the resort we were staying at was great. In fact, the whole resort was a lovely experience. Everyone was incredibly friendly, it was a very chill environment with a nice garden and bay view. The food was delicious and generous portions. Will absolutely come back here. We ate here for dinner and breakfast and everything we ordered did not disappoint.

Yelp
We are celebrating our 19th anniversary with a stay here at the Bahia. We decided to try Dockside and we are so glad we did! First, the setting can't be beat. We were seated at a fireside table overlooking the bay. My husband had the sea bass and said it was one of the best meals he had ever had. Our waitress, Celeste was so friendly. When she realized we were celebrating our anniversary, she brought us a complimentary dessert. We will definitely be back before we leave!!

Yelp
Enjoyed our meal here, everything was so delicious! Ordered the everything bread as an appetizer (the butter spreads are definitely for an acquired taste) I'll be honest I wasn't too interested in the menu but my husband and I were out for a special occasion. I ordered the shrimp linguine dish and wow! It was so so good. Our waitress Heather was very kind and helpful with suggesting a dish since it was our first time here, very accommodating. Since we came in the evening I would say it's very romantic being by the fire pits and am so glad they also had heaters above the dining areas. I would certainly come again.

Yelp
I was looking forward to my lunch reservation at Dockside to celebrate a special event. However, as we approached the parking lot, we were turned away by gentleman in the front saying how the lot was for hotel guests only. He mentioned that their lot was full and I have to park all the way on the other side. I followed someone that got in their vehicle about to leave only to see the parking attendant run up to my vehicle and proceeded to tell me that I couldn't park there. Claiming that they need to save spots for hotel guests and that I couldn't park because I'm only here for lunch. Honestly, I don't even know what to say. Thank you to the man up front for turning away guests who have valid reservations. Our whole experience was ruined, but hope you felt better about saving spots for overnight guests (we're just staying an hour for lunch) To RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT: sorry we couldn't dine with you. Was really looking forward to it but your genius parking attendants didn't allow us.

Yelp
The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were beyond kind and helpful. The restaurant is obviously stunning, directly being on the water. There is a very vacation like ambiance. The food is spectacular and the bottomless mimosas are unbeatable. They are a self-serve mimosa station, and unlimited for $20. My friends and I had a blast. Everyone enjoyed their food, drinks and the view! Absolutely recommend, a must try in SD!

Yelp
The worst $250 I've ever spent. Made reservations for my wife's 30th birthday and had an absolutely horrendous meal. Great server who did his best, but the food was awful from start to finish. Sea bass dinner was below average at best. Filet mignon ordered medium rare- rare, was served medium (and that's being generous to the cow). Mushrooms tasted dirty and sides were unflavorful. We could not imagine a worst meal for the price to celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. We would NEVER return, nor recommend anyone to this restaurant. We would have preferred In-N-Out for a birthday dinner. View of the water was the only thing halfway worth while
